[Q] Headphones mic fix?

hey i just got an incredible s and using it on ARHD 1.1.1 rom... I can't get my iphone headphones (with the volume controls) to work with the phone...
I have used these headphones on SGS with cm7.... so cant figure out why they wont work with IS...
the headphones buttons work... but no voice from mic... any fix for this? i love these headphones compared to others ... so need this to work!!!

I bought the beats headphones with mic, the mic work with Iphone but it dosn't with IS.
Any suggestion how to fix that.

ok so apparently for me even the htc headset that came with my phone doesnt seem to want to work :S...
is this true for everyone or is my htc IS just messed up?
I used it in miui, arhd and virtuous.... is it possible that there is a hardware issue in the phone :S? any way to check?.... the mic symbol does show up on the phone though just no voice goes through?
this is a bell/virgin IS with S-off, and eng boot...
any reply back will be really helpful cuz im about to chuck my phone against the wall
... the handsfree build.prop change (from development section) works somewhat that i can hear myself talking on mic.... but no voice is going through to the other end :S....

You are not alone - have same problem and have tried multiple rom images.

thats sad.... kills the device for me nicely that a simple thing like that has a bug

Handsfree was working well with htc stock rom. It wont work on cyanogen and miui roms.

doesnt seem to want to work for me with any custom rom :S... oh well

I too have the same problem. It's a bit disappointing but overall phone is great with custom roms.

mmmm do u people (whomever) has the issue... mind telling exactly what phones u have and what carriers and stuff.... this has to be a software issue somewhere cuz it was working on stock roms...

My headset ( htc ) worked without a problem on the ORIGINAL stock rom aka. 2.2 ( or was it 2.1 ) when i updated to the OFFICIAL 2.3 rom via the built-in upgrade now feature in the phone it stopped working, so in my experience it seems to be a 2.3 problem or smthing

so it seems as if a drivers problem in gingerbread for us :S... everyones from a different country...
unless somehow the manufacturing is not as solid as i thought...

- so i seem to have gotten my htc headset working with virtuous 1.29.... I had to flash another kernel (unity v3 in my case) ... and the headset started working, has a little echoish sound ... but better than nothing

I have the same issue here : IS with Orange France
So problem started with stock rom. HTC headphone ok, iphone headphones ok, then i bought sennheiser CX880i and then i mic was not properly detected and never able to get a sound out of it.
Had the same issue with custom rom later on : Virtuous unity. So i buy another brand of headphones with mic today : Klipsch S4i ... same issue with custom rom virtous unity 1.31.
will try other kernel to see if its the same...

it is worse with this kernel as now my iphone mic is no longer recognised...

Mic isuue Hardware or Software??

Traded for this phone, but just noticed it has a mic issue.Very low and the other side cant hear unless your yelling, but bluetooth headset works. Wondering if its a hardware problem, or does it work after porting a ROM to it?

You are using stock rom or custom rom?
if not stock, could be rom issue too.. but if stock then its a hardware issue

iam on stock xxlrg my phone on my czn now he say that he always calling use an bluetooth earpiece...my phone not on my hand now so he tell all the prob

have you tried connecting your phone to any bluetooth devices other than your BT earpiece? I'm on stock LRG as well and bluetooth works fine.. I can stream musics and videos from my phone to my laptop using BT.
If you tried the all bluetooth devices and still your phone can't connect.. Tried flashing a kernel to it. I'd recommend speed mod k3-9 and see if you can make a BT connection after.

[Q] my XZR microphone is not working

my XZR is having problem in microphone(no incoming call audio neither whats app audio audible)it suddenly stop working.I had gone to Sony service center they said this prob cannot be solved because it s a compact phone ull get new XZR with replacement and ull have to pay 18,000 Rs. obviously its a hardware problem bt they can fix it by replacing microphone!!!
anyone help ????

Dear niraj5,
The first thing is, no panic, it can't help.
If it is proved a hardware failure, no one here can help you. So before you pay for replacement (or a new phone), please make 100% sure that it IS a hardware problem.
You mentioned no audio of call speech or whatsapp audio, Did you try other apps which also have call function? Please report back.:good:

no but i tried the microphone check through *#*#7378423#*#*. the audio is not audible i.e no sound

actually earphone sry i said microphone. earphone from which we hear the voice during call.

OKAY problem is a very easy one. Just buy a bluetooth headset and you ALL DONE!

got a Bluetooth headset yesterday feeling comfort to talk on call either i would hav to speak on speaker or wired headsets.
still i want to repair my earphone bt im not getting a engineer to fix it....still searching....!!!!

External Microphone on 3.5MM audio Jack not working - Headphones worked!

Hello Guys,
I been searching alot in the forum and I can't seems to find a solution for this yet. Maybe I got too confuse after reading some threads here.
nevertheless, I just wanted to make sure that my external Microphone would work with the 3.5mm Audio input jack. I have tested the same mic with the correct cable and it works with my 1Plus5T / Samsung Note8 how ever no luck with the K20Pro.
Do I need to root the phone and use Magisk to fix this issue?
I am currently on INDIA Raphaline rom 10.3.5 I believe
please don't shot me guys.

I just received my Mi 9T Pro a few days ago and was researching this. Don't have a mic yet so haven't been able to try it. I guess evidently it will work with Open Camera as there's a setting for that. But I'm trying to see if it works with Gcam mods. I found this video but it's for the Gcam stock app. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cNyep1vADY Please let us know if you find anything.

I have the same issue. Headphones work but the mic does not. Looks like a defective piece. Did not have time to head to the service center yet

i read through post ~ need to use magisk to patch it and it would work . I don't want to root the phone . does i am still stock here i really hope is a defective unit. I didn't have a chance to try when I am using chinese firmware

Just got my Mi 9T Pro a week ago and just bought a mic the other day but haven't had a chance to try it yet. I'll let you know. I think Open Camera has a setting for external mics. Gcam has a setting that pops up when a mic is inserted, but that's the stock software. Not sure if Gcam mods do. See above for video link.

Same issue here. Discord with an external mic is not working, but in the miui recorder app it is. Did you try that?
I'm pretty sure its a MIUI bug since one year ago the poco f1 had exactly the same issue and it got fixed via update.

Yep. I tried in the recorder app. the external mic doesn't record. complete silence on playback.
My main problem is when i'm using headphones in a call...the other person can't hear me.

Are you talkin about an actually mic? Or a headset?
I was talking about some regular headset with a microphone, if this change anything at all.

Sorry for the confusion. So my phone Mic is fine. When i plug in my headphones ( Samsung akg s8 ones with a external mic), the phone detects the headphones with external mic but the mic on the headphones doesn't work but I can hear music, voice calls through my headphones. Just the other person can't hear me through the headphone mic. Tried with the recorder app etc. The mic on the headphone doesn't work
I have tried 2 samsung headphones and 1 apple headphones. All with the same issue.
Tried all the headphones on another phone and all the headphones and mic work perfectly.
Does it need specific xiaomi mi headphones to work or something?

No, definitely not. Mine is some old one from oppo find 7, I think.
Thats weird that it doesn't work for you in the recorder app though, cause for me it does. Its just voicechat applications like discord for example which don't work.. and it really annoys me.
We should definitely report it to xiaomi via the feedback section at the bottom of the settings.

I have been hearing different views from various folks on this forum. I have the Indian version of the K20Pro and i can confirm that the mic of an external headset (earphones or headphones) does not work. I can however listen to music and also hear the opposite person talk where i receive a call. However the opposite person cannot hear me - which is indicative that the mic does not work (or there is an issue)
On the positive side though, i flashed Revolution OS and this problem seems to have been fixed. I can now use any earphones (or headphones) to take calls and the opposite person can now hear me. I am doing an entirely clean flash (fastboot) now to check if that works on the latest Indian version too.

I have the Mi 9T global version with stock glonal MiUI 10.3.11 and I have the exact same issue as you're having. I'm going to try some xiaomi headphones and see if this fixes the issue. Thank you for your response by the way.

I suspect it is an issue with the global firmware. If may want to try some of the Chinese ones to see if that has solved this issue as most of the custom ROMs are based on the Chinese FW

I have been running Custom MIUI with Chinese FW so far. Just did a clean fastboot of the indian version 10.3.5.0 and guess what - the mic works for calls!! Very strange as it definately did not work for me out of the box

Did you do a factory reset or something? I'm not very familiar with rooting and running fastboot so i dont feel comfortable flashing any firmwares. I'm a noob. i know :laugh:

Some feedback, but probably not what you want to hear:
Had a similar problem with Signal - old headset worked fine on HTC-U11+ stock, on the K20 pro there was no microphone (callee said no sound at all) even though headset with mic was detected. A temporary solution was to partially pull out the plug which caused the K20P to show headphones only headset connected and I guess it used the phone mic.
However I purchased a Xiaomi headset which worked fine from the start, detecting headset with microphone and callee said mic quality was much better. Seems they may have pulled an Apple move and used non-standard pin connectors
Currently on 9.9.6 Xiaomi.eu ROM, K20Pro CN version (purchased in China) 8/128Gb version.

That wouldn't explain why it is working on mine with some random OPPO headset.

For me it was Signal which was not working with the external headset mic, but then worked perfectly when I used the Xiaomi one. (not an advert, yet I really do like the Xiaomi headset (in-ear) and I am not unhappy that I purchsed it)
Also, and its been a long while since I had the Find 5, I seem to vaguely recall there was similar issues with headsets & micrphones on the early Find phones - maybe Xiaomi and Oppo use the same jack supplier?
