looking for a good file copy app - X Style (Pure) Themes and Apps

I am looking for an app that can copy files from folder A to folder B as soon as there is file created in folder A. Thanks.

Root explorer

Thanks!

I like Solid Explorer.

I hate solid explorer. It doesnt have the function to copy from external sd card to internal memory...
I use fx explorer for copy n paste. So easy to operate. Copy file or folder, click Home button, brings to to all the storages that you would like to paste to etc.

thanks everyone for suggestion. I didn't make it clear on my first post, what I am looking for is an app that can run in the background and copy/move files from one folder to another folder as soon as there is file created in the source folder.

If you're on a ROM that supports init.d and has busybox, you could make your own with rsync and a cronjob. Now that you've given me the idea, I might try to whack something together to backup my sdcard pictures folder to external SD.
If you don't want to muck around with that, searching Play store for rsync returns some promising looking apps, but I've never used any, sorry.
Be super careful with syncing programs. They're great for backups, but if you set them up to sync in the wrong direction or both directions or something you can find all the files you wanted to backup deleted. Always do a dry run first, or have another backup handy outside the directories you're trying to sync until you're sure everything is setup right.

GroupHome (Android) 1.0

Organize your Android apps into groups.
GroupHome is a program that organizes all the apps you've installed on your phone. It automatically groups together apps using the categories shown in Android Market. This grouping approach helps you find apps faster. You can long-press on an app to uninstall it or view its details.
Requirements:
ยท Android OS
Pretty damn cool actually. Would definitely be great for people with tons of apps installed.
Looks great, but whatever you attached only has a file folder included. There's nothing to install, no apk.
EDIT: Google is my friend. Searched and found it: http://www.jsharkey.org/blog/2008/12/15/grouphome-organize-your-android-apps-into-groups/
whoops lol I zipped up an empty folder
Fixed it...sorry about that.
SWEET! I was just thinking this was something that was really needed! Thanks. Who is the developer? This is definitely needed for the sliding dock. I hate having my apps shuffled around whever I ad one or two.. It's so hard to find stuff.
how do i add this app? details please
it's annoying how you can't actually replace the launcher with this. that would be awesome. using this as a seperate app, which you have to load from the launcher seems stupidly pointless to me. i think i'll wait.
the only thing I hate about this app is that it starts slow at the first time (fine) and after one or more apps get uninstalled (erhhh) and after I do a restart (grrrhh).

first go to settings > Application settings > and check unknown sources.
Then place the apk on the root of your SD card
Then go to the app market and install app installer.
Start app installer and it will find the apk on your sd card and install it.
You can remove the apk after installation.

There is also a app called "Linda file manager" that works great too for more then just running the installer.

Like I said you can use "Linda file manager".
or try apkInstaller or AppsInstaller but just be 100% sure you typed either one in EXACTLY how it's spelled or you won't get anything

[Q] want to skin MixZing...where is the .apk?!

hey guys. now that i've learned how to mod apps to match my liking, i wanted to mod the one app i use the most.
i can't seem to find where Mixzing's installation folder is? i've searched /data/app, /data/app-private, /system/app, /sdcard/data, /sdcard/Android...where do the .apks for these apps that aren't under /data/app go???
and which apk should i be editing, the basic .apk or the upgrade .apk? (i assume basic).
thanks
It's in data/app
Something like "com.developername.mixzing.apk".

Unless you have A2SD it's in data/app.

just did that. uninstalled. reinstalled. went back to /data/app and it's not there. organized it by date and it's not there.
i have Move2SD enabler, so it's installing apps directly on the SD card. that's why I asked in the OP where else besides /data/app apps get installed.
i can use the .apk you posted, but when they update the app in the future i'll be in the same position. i need to find my own .apk
couldn't find where it was being stored in the /sdcard, so i just moved it back to the phone's memory and then got the .apk from /data/app.
here's my first skinning attempt. pretty much what i was going for. matches my black windows 7 look

guys i'm having an ISSUE...anyone know what's going on?
please read...
tried the regular method using .apk manager. if i unzip/edit/zip/sign and try to install, i get "Application not installed"...if i do unzip/edit/zip as system app (no signature) and try to install, same message. if i do unzip/edit/zip as regular app but dont sign it, same message. if i edit the file with 7Zip and try to install, also get the same message...
if i unzip/edit/zip/sign and try to copy/paste over the existing .apk in /data/app i get force closes when i try to open the app.
now, if i edit the .apk with 7-zip and i copy it over the existing .com.mixzing.basic-1.apk in /data/app then it works! the widgets work, the app works. all is well....until i reboot the phone. then i come back and the app wont launch, as if it wasn't there.
i go to /data/app/ the .apk is there, but it wont launch. if i try to install it from there, it also gives me "Application not installed"...interestingly enough, when i try to install it, it tells me it would overwrite an existing application. yet when i go to the Market, it shows as Mixzing NOT being installed and lets me install a new copy just fine.
if i install again from the market, and copy/paste my copy over it in /data/app, it works again...until I reboot...and the cycle repeats.
what am i doing wrong here?

[Q] Can I extract an icon.png(?) from an .apk?

I've downloaded these icons and would like to use the psd's that the artist provided to make lots more.

I think the quickest way to make more would be to get the official icon and shrink it so that it can be placed on the little coloured squares.
So my question is: How do I access the icon in an .apk file and also the icons for the default apps like the calculator, navigation etc? I see them on the phone screen smiling back at me but just can't seem to get my hands on the raw .png file.
Perhaps there's some kind of .apk extractor or maybe they are in the phone memory when it's on and can be lifted from there?
Many thanks to any bright spark that knows how to do this. I've searched plenty but maybe I'm just not using the right search terms or something
if all you're after is the .png to make an icon, you could copy the .apk to your computer and rename it to a .zip and extract it. the icons would be in the drawable-hdpi folder.
just in case you were asking where the .apk files are, look in /data/app or /system/app, depending on the app.
Thanks brewcrewwheels,
That worked great for stand alone .apk's but I still can't seem to find the icons for the default apps. I can't find the folders you speak of...

which folders are you referring to? actually let's start at the beginning. are you rooted? if so, do you have root explorer? if those are both yes, then in root explorer you would navigate to system, then app, then select the .apk you want. for example, let's say you want the icon for gmail. go to system, app, then long press gmail.apk. copy it to your sd card (make sure you have selected mount r/w in the top right corner), then copy it to your desktop. rename it to gmail.zip and extract it. go to the folder called res, then you will see drawable-hdpi. this contains all the icons used by the app. in this case, the png you are after is called ic_launcher_mail.png
all of the app logos will be in drawable-hdpi, but they may have different file names. that is why i recommend extracting everything, so at least you will have thumbnails to guide you. hopefully this clears things up a bit, but let me know if you need anything further.

same method, different folder. inside the apk, you can have fun exploring all the different folders and you'll find all files. the way I find music inside apk's is to play them in vlc player (google it), and it should point you to its general location. that's how I ripped a couple of hidden songs from my phone's system folder that are inaccessible any other way.

Replacing uninstalled bloat APKs

In the event I want to do a system restore, I would, at this point, need to push back the APKs back to their applicable place.
Where exactly would that be?
Would the command just be adb push or adb copy blah.apk /path/to?
I'd like to have this as a thread for those looking for the same info, at least until an SBF is released.
I'm releasing a one-click unroot that restores all original files today. Standby.
That would be awesome. I'm having trouble restoring Backup assistant 2.3.4, Backup assistant client 1.0 and Guided Tours 2.3.4.

Titanium Backup can't restore applications that don't contain a classes.dex, which is most of the /system/app/ folder. That's why I recommend my bloat removal script instead.
Wonderful... And I uninstalled it after I backed it up.
Pretty much there... still cleaning up some stuff...

First of all Thank you a lot for writing this tool, I hope this can fix my problems. But I am currently having an issue where i get this message ERROR: /sdcard/d3unroot/ backup doesn't exist or is incomplete! I downloaded the folder system/apps folder that it told me to and extracted it into sdcard/d3unroot and mad sure it was on charge only, But I still get this error. any help would be greatly appreciated
Fascinating, I'm getting the same error. I assume we extract the file into d3unroot?

A lot of people are having a problem with this depending on the version of busybox installed, so I'm releasing a new version tomorrow that should address these issues. Hang tight, folks.
I ran your Root Tool's 5 times and it didn't work once. (trying to restore system apps)
I tried every different way of having the original system/app files on my SD Card/Internal Storage. Help please, or include better instructions

Anybody has this issue with root browser?

i like root browser. and i decided to buy this app for support developer.
but after that i surprised.
- it cant show /data folder on cm9, cm10. when i enter this folder, it shows an emtpty folder.

Report the bug to developer of Root Browser.
EDIT: saw you are already talking. I use ES File Explorer and it works.
EDIT2: Does Root Browser Lite work?
EDIT3: In terminal emulator with root I can look into data folder and see file sizes with ls -l data. There's something wrong with how the develeper reads the file info or how he handles root.
EDIT4: In terminal Emulator can you type su then ls -l data. If that gives filesizes then it's problem with the app else it's problem with your phone.
