Thanks for the kernel!! I'm testing it now and it feels good so far

report
After rebooting the device the subscription to the Wi-Fi network get lost, means I have to reenter the password after every reboot. I don't know if it's the kernel like it is or because I changed the TCP congestion fromm cubic to highspeed. I don't have any experience with this feature. I could change back to cubic and check if the network subscription sticks... .

Anyway to flash back to Stock Kernel?

Would a boot.img backup in this case suffice? I haven't flashed the kernel yet but a boot image backup would contain the old kernel as well. The question is mostly if there are any other modifications that are being done.

If you don't have the zip file, I would say, you could restore the boot and system partition from your backup, this should bring back the backuped kernel.

Ok nice I will try it then. By the way it is better to use ext4 for other partitions than /data and /cache.

All other partitions are simply not supported

Kernel works great so far. No issues and performance feels good.
What's the best way to switch between SELinux permissive and enforcing on this kernel should one want to experiment with that? Some solutions don't seem to like KNOX but it should be disabled on the kernel, too, right? I'm still struggling to get Magisk Hide working so I'm feeling experimentative.

I release 2 different kernel versions here. One is for sony sensors, since they never have a problem, go for the *Mode* version, you got all working modes there but on sammy sensor you got washed out colors. So I made a second zip which has *Quality* in name, which has stock quality BUT not all camera modes are working. This works on: HydraRom, Sacs Rom, Renovate, everything else needs to be tested
Features of this Kernel:
- Build with latest sabermod Toolchain 7.0
- Build with BPI7 kernel source!
- F2FS compatible
- Choose kernel between quality or modes
- Latest Linux version 3.18.42, is always up to date
- Performance and Batterylife improved
- Choose between different CPU governors: performance, powersave, userspace, ondemand, interactiv (default), conservative
- Built with latest ramdisk sources from samsung (BPH7)
- I/O schedulers: CFQ (Default), ROW, No-op, Deadline, BFQ, FIOPS, SIO, VR, ZEN, FIFO, and SIOplus
- Fixed power efficient wq permission
- Critical TCP bug fixed
- Thermal drivers updated
- Selinux updates merged by google
- Zram LZ4 enabled
- Allow ADB-Insecure
- TCP (Network) control: Bic (default), Reno, cubic, Westwood, Highspeed, Hybla, HTCP, Vegas, Veno, Scalable, LP, Yeah and Illinois
- SeLinux is set to permissive
- All samsung related configs disabled (as knox, tima, restrict rooting)
- force encryption by samsung disabled!
Download:
V1.3 available on AndroidFilehost
Bugs/Problems:
- Camera with washed out colors or with not working modes (depends on your choice)
Instructions:
0. Make a full backup of your phone just in case!
1. Install a custom recovery for your phone, like this one here: TWRP
2. Follow the instructions on the page above, until you get a working recovery
3. Download the Kernel from below and copy it to your phone
4. Reboot to your recovery by pressing volume up, home button and power button at the same time.
5. Now, flash your kernel you put onto the phone
6. Flash supersu, phh's root or xposed, just all things that modify your boot.img
7. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (recommand)
8. Reboot

X3a40 and X3c50/70 modems are different.
You can use each other's ROM as long as you use the correct modem firmware (NON-HLOS.bin file). I flashed S217 from X3a40 in my X3c50 but first replacing NON-HLOS.bin file with the one taken from X3c50 stock ROM.
If you flash the wrong NON-HLOS.bin file all wireless functionality is lost. No SIM recognition, no cell coverage, no WiFi, no bluetooth.
Whatever you do make sure you first backup you QCN.

Was about to reply it worked as I read your answer on the t80X thread. Thanks for your support. Will report feedbacks for the kernel which already looks nice!

Thanks for great work !
When installing kernel on 705 there is message that 805 kernel was installed (I know its a typo).
Testing.
Geekbench scores:
Iron: 564/1593
Stock: 811/1993
This is strange, it seems that your kernel is slower, It might be something related to thermal throttling so im not sure...
Posted in the adoptable storage thread but thought it prudent to post here too. The adoptable storage patch with this kernel would result in saying the sd card is corrupt (3 different cards) by using the stock kernel, formatting the card as internal it worked. Flashed this kernel again and it is still working

I checked my defconfig. Should be written T705 at least in kernel it is.
That score can differe from each time to time depending on temperature of soc and outside

The patch changes something in fstab and my fstabs are patched to work with f2fs that's probably why

It's 100% the same. Normally same kernel number means same
Is there any way of tweaking the settings? Such as voltages and speed

Is dex patched? can we start Dex with "normal" hdmi adapter and/or chromecast or sideview/miracast?
hi, do we still have to flash no-verity after the kernel?

I have a stock S9+ atm.
Do I need to wipe anything to get this kernel?
How is battery-life compared to stock?
Also I am wondering if SABS work on this?
Are you working on any custom roms? Loved your roms and kernels on S7 and S8
I found that random rw speed is drastically reduced due to the linux updates. I'll find the related commit and revert it!
Thanks for your understanding
In case anything goes wrong or looks suspicious, you can always attach a log from your problem :good:

Once again you are leading the way! Thanks for all you are doing - it helps make this awesome phone, even awesomer. (is that a word?) By the way, does this hint that the name of your first ROM for the S9Plus is going to be FLASH? Another super hero to the rescue!
Is this a copy of flash kernel for the nexus phones. Did you ask nathan if you could use the same name??

Nope. Although he does a lot of things I would do.
The name isn't copyrighted LOL nobody needs to ask me permission. There's a Flash Kernel for the OnePlus 3/T that isn't affiliated with me.

All good nathan I was just asking a question, just in case . How's work with du going? Shame you stopped flash kernel angler builds. But I understand that it was just a terrible chip ?
I checked my developer options but I did not find OEM unlock as usual.
What to do ?
finished 7 day's.. not active

Just wanted to post here also for all. On my S9, latest Alexis Q rom, go to Telegram group and grab ProtonKernel-G96X-Q-v1.zip and the base fix for DTB5 and flash. Booted right up no issues so far.

@Arcsin2, does the kernel support setting of SELINUX to permissive via Magisk or Terminal? Thank you!

The kernel Works great!!
Moro Sound
What does the "Moro Sound" do in this kernel, does it have options or is it always enabled after flashing the kernel?
Does the Moro Sound have any settings or does it require a special app to setup enable/disable the Moro Sound feature?
Also is this kernel compatible with Android 10 "Q" using the DTAD firmware/rom?ne other thing, what does the zip file great day everyone...
One other thing, does the v2 kernel require flashing the fix file?
Thanks, have a great day!

MoroSound is a mod that allows you to control Volume levels from kernel directly instead of ROM. You need to use either HTweaks app,Mtweaks to have the ability to use it. And no it's not always ON,as i said you need the Tweak app to turn it ON.
Base fix is only required to be flashed one time ONLY. It deletes some files in vendor to allow Keystore(LockScreen security)to work with old base kernels.

It currently does not. It appears kernels built from Samsung's sources do not support switching of SELINUX.
L speed allows Selinux to permissive its probly fake but it allows viper4a so its doing something
