how about wifi calling and volte?
may be something in addition to the xml to enable the next radio. i'll check the files again.
EDIT: it appears there is coding somewhere in a system app that is also required since im running this firmware i dont have a comparison to the ATT firmware to see if there is an apk or coding changes. ill change the OP to reflect this

hmm ok well crap it must require some changes to a system apk, ill see about finding a solution however i dont do much coding any more so may not happen, i did do a little research and it sounds as tho it was enabled by ATT thru a system update to the G935A and since this is U firmware te update is not applied.
thanks everyone who read tthis thread but since this does not work i am going to close the thread for now

[Q] Tethering and Hotspot with foreign SIM on Verizon LG G2

Hi guys,
The way I see it the Tethering and Hotspot option is only working with Verizon SIM card.
Now when I'm trying to use different (foreign country) SIM it says: "A Verizon Wireless LTE SIM card is not detected. Mobile Hotspot/Mobile Broadband connect/Bloototh tethering service needs a Verizon SIM card in order to work".
What are my options to make it work? Is there any workaround? Maybe some app?
Appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

I would love to know the exact same thing as I just converted my Verizon LG G2 to T-Mobile last night and the only issue I have is tethering. From reading I found a method to running the T-Mobile ROM on the Verizon LG with a patch added after loading the ROM and prior to first reboot but I cannot find any information about Wi-Fi tethering and if this would solve the problem. Anyone the help or insight?
Thanks,
TE

Ok, downloaded and followed the instructions. App comes up and when I turn the Hotspot on I get 'Unfortunately Provison has stopped'. Not sure if it matter but I am on the 24A Verizon ROM.
Thoughts, help?

Make sure your phone is rooted and use root explorer or es file explorer to replace the modded apk file with the original.
After much trial and error, trying all the different modded version on the threads, I cannot get any of them to work. As I am on stock 24a, rooted and debloated, I am going to back my APNs, flash back to 100% stock with stock recovery. Once I get this done I will re-root, install custom recovery and then backup the stock, after which I will load one of the custom ROMS and see if that resolves it. If not I can get a hotpot from T-Mobile for next to nothing out the door if I find I need it.

Were you able to tether on T-Mobile without a tethering plan? I am running 5.0.2 Lollipop and my tethered device always get the blocked page by T-Mobile.

Hey. I have found an workaround regarding the hotspot here somewhere.
To bypass/activate the hotspot, you need following :
Root your phone using LG ONE CLICK ROOT
HotSpot file ( for lollipop version)
Root Browser
Steps to follow :
Go to root browser.
Head to /system/app/HotspotProvision and rename or backup HotspotProvision.apk, ex : " HotspotProvision.apk.bkup" . Then go to /system/app/HotspotProvision/arm and rename or backup " HotspotProvision.odex" file. After that, copy the provided Hotspot provision file to the same location, change its permission to rw-r-r and restart phone.
It should work now.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Rooted nexus 6 will not boot up after I edited build prop

Hey all this is my first post on XDA.
So I was trying to unroot and relock my nexus 6 so i decided to replace the build.prop that i have edited with a copy of the original build.prop i had saved on my phone. I used root browser to do this. after I did this I restarted my phone and all I would get is a black screen with google in white and an unlocked lock. it will not boot back up.
My phone will go into recovery mode and that about all i can tell you.
I would truly appreciate your help.

If your bootloader is unlocked, you can fastboot flash the stock factory image.
Or, if you have TWRP Recovery (I sure hope so, since you were modifying the build.prop) you can connect to your PC while in recovery, then transfer a custom ROM .zip from your PC to your SDcard. Then flash it in recovery.
I had the same thing happen, all you need to do is flash the system image only. Luckily you don't need to flash userdata. Still looking for a way to enable tethering.

you do realize that when you edit your build.prop, if you edit to something that doesnt support the n6 or you make a spelling error somewhere, then most likely it will not boot? anyways, the easy way around this is before you edit your build.prop, make a nandroid backup in recovery. so that when you mess up, it won't be a pain in the butt to get everything back.

no, its still the way to enable FREE tethering, as long as it is all entered in correctly, it still works. but for tethering, you dont need to do anything, it works straight out of the box.

in your apn, try changing the IPv6 to IPv4 instead, that should fix the tethering issue(not free tethering, just wireless tethering).

Am new at this and in uncharted territory. I rooted my new Google Nexus 6 using the WugFresh, Nexus Root Toolkit 2.0.4, Root program downloaded. Also downloaded Busybox, ES File Explorer, Superuser, TWRP, Root Browser. I fail to understand which one gives me root control. Also loaded Cyanogen Mod 12.1 nightly build as a ROM. Also downloaded Wifi Tether 3.4 Experimental 1-07202013 which has worked in my old rooted Galaxy Nexus since 2013, and previous versions since 2011.
I'm thinking I am in over my head as I attempt to deal with a new system, Lollipop, and now Marshmallow 5.1.1 and new phone Nexus 6 and older tether program? Can you suggest or recommend a ROM with perhaps more compatibility and ease of tethering? Wife and I live deep in country and our phone tether only access we have over Verizon with the repeater.

[EXPERIMENTAL][STOCK ROM]ZV9 Flashable zip (NEED TESTERS!!)

Hey guys,
Code:
DISCLAIMER
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE. I AM NOT FORCING YOU TOO OR ANYONE ELSE TO FLASH AND BRICK THERE PHONE. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO RISK IT CAN/
So i made a flashable zv9 zip file HOWEVER i dont have the device with me at the moment to test it. Im NOT FORCING ANYONE to try it for me but if they wanna voulenteer to test it for me, it would be a pleasure. I have made this rom via dsxdia android kitchen and i got the system files from the original update.zip because the one from the tot wont open up after i merge them for some reason.
This will flash the system and boot.img files. I need someone to test it for me or risk thier device for a brick if they can. Yeah i know i should wait till get mines back from repair but im eager to get root on this thing. So it would be nice if someone that has an extra g4 laying around wanna helpout its development.

I want to help you, but I'm planning on selling my phone soon to go to Verizon, so I don't want to mess anything up.
Chances are it will not boot due to not matching signature, I've tried different mixes when it first came out, and you will also need modem partition.
I have tried kernel, modem and system from MM over LP, resulting in a security error...
Good luck, hope you get your version working somehow.

You cannot use this phone on Verizon. I looked into it. T-Mobile is a whole other deal and even on T-Mobile you probably won't get all their bands.

Sprint LG G4 contains Bands 2, 4, and 12 which are all the bands T-Mobile uses.
Hi, have anyone tried to find out whether this method works?
my LG G4 sprint is stuck with ZV6 (customised, international) and also secure boot error 1006, unable to boot into download mode. I seriously need a solution.
Everything you need here thanks to Mayrer to get your Sprint to running with T-Mobile.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spri...nlock-t3229801
Bands 2, 4, 12 are for bands T-Mobile.
Download PropEditor and edit these settings....Don't forget this step first!!
ro.build.target_operator=SPR => TMO
ro.build.target_country=US
ro.telephony.default_network => 9
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice => 0 ....don't forget to save and reboot.
Along with Hidden Menu 5689#*991# to change your APN settings properly and set
Field Test => Modem Settings =>
PDP Setting => [5] APN Setting ...... now you have to select the bottom one then go into menu [ ] press until you see delete APN
you must do this because a bug I am seeing only allows the bottom APN setting to be used, I usually delete all until the APN I use is on the very bottom selection. no go back
Network Mode = Automatic => go back => RAT Selection = GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
LTE Band Selection doesn't work proplerly so installing the modded Shortcut Master (Lite) from the link above be sure to go to
lotHiddenMenuMain (witout root) => LTE setting=> LTE Data Roam Config....and enable
Bar Roam Forced
Bar Roam Enabled
Roam Guard Forced
Roam Guard Enabled
Band 2
Band 4
Band 12 go back
Band 25 should be disabled unless you can use it. You cannot really set APN here.
I sometimes install the CDMA to GSM patch for global phones but I then have to re-do the PropEditor settings again, but it may be able to configure anything else that is missing, you can try to Adb Sideload the zip or use FlashGordon app to try to install, honestly I don't know if either worked for me for the patch.
This is what I configure to get my phone to working with T-Mobile.

Working Wifi Hotspot without Root!!!

How to enable wifi hotspot on Sprint Note 7 without ROOT....
Edit... Works on PHE update...
Make sure you have adb working on your computer...
Have USB Debuging enabled...
Connect your phone with your data cable....
Open Windows Explorer and go to your adb folder...
Hold shift and right click to open command prompt here.....
Type " adb devices " and hit enter to make sure your phone is recognized....
Once it is...
Type " adb shell " and hit enter...
Type " settings put global tether_dun_required 0 "
Hit enter....
Wait about ten seconds then unplug your phone and reboot...
Wifi tether should now work...
If not make sure wifi hotspot sharing is enabled in the hotspot settings....
ENJOY EVERYONE....

Edit: tried a few times, no go. I can see the change in ADB, it does change the value to 0. Still, after a minute or less it changes back to 1 by itself. Set it to 0, reboot...it's back to 1. Set it to 0, confirm at 0... Still goes back to 1 after a moment. There's no stopping that 1 damnit lol

Forgive my naivete if this is obviously not possible for whatever reason but is there a way to directly edit the APN settings via ADB or other tool/utility outside the UI? Is there a chance sammy might have just disabled the UI without restricting permissions to the values themselves. Just spit balling.
To clarify, I'm assuming "tether_dun_required 0" is an attempt to disable the authorization verification method by changing the flag to zero. Could there be some way to edit the value(s) (assuming they're APN related per the previous successful non-root tether enabling method) responsible for failing the "tether_dun_required" method?

There are other methods, but they involve editing a database file. Unfortunately, you need root for that. Possibly other ways, but I haven't found one that works outside of root as of yet.

I had tried Hotspot edit via adb and had the same issue where it would auto revert back.
I ended up just editing the telephony.db via current KNOX friendly ROOTED ROM.
I may give CDMA Workshop a try later after Nougat update is available.
Then I should be able to keep edited APN indefinitely.

Running PGC and Hotspot confirmed
Greetings One & All,
I am currently using the Sprint Note 7 running PGC Unrooted, I followed the instructions provided in the first post by intenselyinsane and I not only rebooted my phone, I followed up by powering off my phone and restarting it. In both cases I retained my ability to use my Hotspot and Tethering. Like many, this is the primary reason I root my phone and can hold off for the time being until the developers are more comfortable with their rooting methods now that this is available to me.
Thank You intenselyinsane!

Stupid Oreo... need hotspot back...

I updated my phone yesterday not thinking and knowing they may patch that hotspot hack. I need the hotspot back for work purposes and us you all know that you can't install anything outside network on Enterprise systems. So, the PDANET+ won't help me since it will have to be actually installed on the laptop/device you are trying to get internet access to as well. I didn't want to root my Note 8 but, what options do I have to roll back to nougat 7.1.1 or other alternatives just for my hotspot.

Yes go here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884
First follow 'Flashing Unlocked Firmware: Steps in Post 4' and use (VZW) Verizon - N950U1UEU1AQH9/AQI5/BQK1/BQL2/BRA5
Then following 'Flashing Carrier Firmware: Steps in Post 3' and flash only VZW CSC.
Can anyone confirm if this works? And will we lose vvm and wifi calling by doing this?
Correction to thread title: should read stupid Verizon vs Oreo!
Right... Just frustrating to go through this for hotspot access now.
