Does anyone here have a ZenfoneGo Live(ZB551Kl)? Maybe someday it will have a CM rom? - Asus Zenfone Go Questions & Answers

This phone was released in the middle of last year, but didnt get much popularity. Even to find a cover for it was hard.
Should i lose any hope to see a CM rom being developed for it?
This isnt by any means a request, just a curiosity.
Thankyou.

Q: Why are the chefs using beta software to cook roms?
I got really frustrated by the stability issues of some roms. Some i liked, they were unstable... some were stable but i did not like them.
I've just started cooking and i realized that MANY things can go wrong. So my question is...
IS THERE any thought, any real reason, behind using BETA leaked software in a rom??
Back in the S100(Magician) days... there were fewer leakes and things were stable. You actually could choose from 3-4 stable roms.
Also the wikis are a mess... i used to visit them first and i will try to help fix them.
Before the final ver there is always a trial and error ver..
If you ask for final ver then go to SEUS
Give respect to people who have given time to make a ROM ..

Whats that I see off in the distance??? Chef's gathering and asking each other....if you listen carefully you can hear them.......ready for it.....'huh?'
Why would one want to flash ROMs off of released software? The 'fun' in all of this ....is newness....trying parts here and there and seeing what you come up with. If you wanted release software, why flash?? If, IF, stability is your primary concern....flash back to the original and don't worry about it.
But....if you're wondering what Itje will do tomorrow...or how will Agent work out that issue, or just how fast NRG can make his ROMs, or what new combination the chef's here will come up with....then come back tomorrow and feast your eyes.....cause it only gets exciting when the software is new, and the challenge is great and the ideas flow...and the questions get asked.
Hmmmm....TF3D...on an iPhone.....hahahah....nahhhhh
hey alodar1 well put
Question is why are there 40 threads like this... Especially when stable roms exist already.

Answer is: ignorance (whoops )
you'll never know the water is cold till you dip in it
It's because we all want the newest shizzle from everything. That's why we flash custom roms. I mean why should we cook with old stuff when we can get such things from SEUS? If something is already released and stable there is no need for custom roms anymore since it will be on SEUS. The thing I like about cooking is to get the newest stuff cook it in and try to fix everything as good as possible. So if you don't understand this you maybe better get an iphone or just go to SEUS and download the latest stock rom. Wondering what you preferre

A big thank you goes out to everyone that took me seriously and posted an answear. To all others, i think trying the latest and greatest does not justify the huge amount of bugs in so called stable roms.
Most roms take a full 3-5 sec to change a song... and there is no end to end experience using it.
In the meantime i found about the only version that is 100% usable in real life conditions.

"So called stable" doesn't mean bug free. But I think all cheffs do their best. It's just the choice of the user what rom he/she will use and like.
why chefs are using beta roms? <<<<if this is his question, then he should realize that there are no downloads anywhere online where you would download a final build of wm 6.5, the same way you would download windows xp, vista or 7......but my question is, is there a final wm 6.5???? wm 6.1 became final weeks ago, so where is 6.5 now???? hmmm i think you should do some research before bashing chefs who enjoy doing what they do
the betas were leaked dude, you need to relax, a chef can only cook what is available,
also wm 6.5 is not even out of beta stages IMO, every single build has a bug, even the ones that are in the official ads by the real makers, u can tell bcos the battery icon is still not positioned properly as in 6.1
the official R3A rom from SEUS also has at least one bug i can point to you, and that's official, so back to your question, whats your question again?

but you misunderstand...we do take you serious,,,,very serious. Well..right up to the 100% reliable statement. It goes like this. It all depends on your likes, needs, and tastes.
I too am a Smaberg fan. But he uses a released OS, and changes the wrappers. Thats like changing your tie...should I wear blue today or the Red one with stripes. He does(did) a GREAT job.
But the 6.5 ROMs...all new...all different, so many varieties. Pick one you like...or not. But...in 6 months....building a 6.5 ROM will be like...Smabergs ROMs...which tie should I wear today. Great work...but.....not new.
People who flash here, stability maybe in their top 5 concerns...but probably not 1, or 2. they ride bikes downhill at full spead...or at least want to. They have more beta products that actual release products. NO ONE here flashes a ROM expecting it work perfect because they have a huge business trip tomorrow. They only HOPE it will be perfect...because if it is...they will have the coolest thing in the room.
there is no medicine to fix these symtoms....only new ROMs
Do not thing we do not take you serious....we do....we just don't understand your question.

Yep, bugs usually show up dependent on usage and how critical they are varies on what a person cares about. So you're "stable" might not be someone else's stable and vice versa.
Because people like me exist..
Speaking for myself.. My X1 was just getting boring until of course I learned I could flash the rom with the latest thing people are talking about but don't have... WOW!! My phone became exciting again..
These chefs are the coolest.. I toggle between the different roms from the credible chefs and that 'need for new' on my budget is quenched... <Donations to come (promise) >

welldone to our chefs
I strongly believe that we can only progress in life by trying new ideas and stuffs. so i will say a big welldone to all the chefs for all their time and devotion they've dedicated to these roms we keep flashing. Trully without these so called beta roms, the x1 would have been the worst phone i believe, ever produced by sonyericsson. i have had all the se P series, and then thought that the X1 was going to be the icing on the cake. that never happened. certainly personally is was product i've ever spend so much money on. fortunately i found this website, and it rescued me. i keep flashing my phone with new roms. it is as if i have a new phone all the time. so please leave the chefs alone. stay with the se stable rom. Again welldone to all the chefs.

Xperia X8 - Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean"

Dear Community,
I know from your guidelines that starting threads or requesting updates on certain subjects is strictly prohibited but still I feel it necessary to ask
you that exact question (even if there's a ban only moment away..) because I don't like to be kept out in the dark and would like
someone from the development team to update their daily updates and how their work is progressing so that we who are
eager enough to get started may rest in piece instead of staying awake all night long looking for updates.
Remove thread, warn or ban.. I just need an answer to all this!

Jelly bean in my eyes is just the same thing as ICS except the title has changed it's moved up 0.1 decimal and a lot of fixes. The UI should be the same as well. I also don't see anyone going to port it anytime soon because first of all we don't have full working ICS.
Second a lot of the roms we are using today and the kernels still have them bugs. And i'm pretty sure no one will bother porting it to x8 since it's 2 years old it's dieing out and there are new phones just a tiny bit more expensive then x8 that are 10x stronger e.g.nexus s. I love sony and all but they are a company whom which likes to start new projects and never work and update their old ones. Updating your phones you manufacture makes a good company oh and good customer service which sony already has
I think you have to wait for that one, or start making it yourself, but if you dont want to, just wait... meanwhile use another rom, there are great ones at the moment, and they are a vast improvement of what eclair was in the first place...

The future of the Dell Streak 7

Okay, I wanted to take a moment to talk about the development for our device.
Recently CM decided to no longer support Tegra 2 devices as they are starting to get dated. So basically that boils down to the fact that the CM10.1 will be the last one for our device that I do.
Currently I'm trying to jump start the process of putting out our updated kernel from 2.6.36.4 -> 3.1. This will hopefully put our device at a point where everything should work.
DerArtem is the lead developer on the kernel, but has been busy because he just got married and works a full time job, which puts a damper on his time (which is understandable).
I am putting in an 1-2 hours every morning on this, trying to fix those bugs and was just tipped on a possible way to minimize the overload of the log with the USB error. This will be a hold off till we get the kernel done as these issues should go away after the update.
I am sad to see this tablet come to an end (though not yet). We all have to admit that its time we all start moving on. I am going to push to get these last bit done and call it quits. This can take anywhere from 2-5 months to finish up, maybe a bit longer and then our device will be done.
I have had an amazing time learning about Android under DJ_Steve and DerArtem, and thank them for taking the time to teach me.
I thank you what you done so far and in the future. Can blame you one bit for your decisions.
I think setting an "end game" is respectable, and is a good goal. The kernel work is the key to smoothing things over on what has been wonderful development thus far.
The fact you've taken us this far sir is very commendable and you and the crew deserve many thanks. For your time and efforts, you have my gratitude, and my tablet serves as a hobby rather than a shelved device.
4.2.x has been flawed since release by Google, and with the way android has evolved, future versions will undoubtedly require more current hardware and OEM support. The latest tablet releases have as much computing power as a 2 year old laptop! Thanks to you, we've managed to play with JB, and I look forward to what comes before a final release.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Wow, I hate doing this, but I may have to close up shop on all this. Severe lack of any real work is getting done as I am looking for jobs and trying to have some game time as well.
The time to do this isn't worth it. I may ask for payments for my next ROM ($1 per download). Seriously, I hate doing it but this just isn't worth it anymore. Currently working on a AOKP release, to see if this may resolve any bugs I am having.
Hi giveen,
first of all thank you for all the time you spent on our old device. I already donated you some time ago and always had an eye on your progesses. I really understand your decision to ask for some payment for all the work and that is absolutely ok for me.
I use my DS7 (wifi only) on a daily base to check my mails, surf the net and stream some TV and video from my HTPC. Until now I use a HC 3.2 mod (514 mod by dreamer) together with V6 Supercharger script and am so far quite ok with that. So far I see no need to buy me a new tablet as long as the DS7 fits my few needs
But before I collect all my courage and update my DS7 in the near future to your CM10 build I want to ask a few things:
1. Is your build already stable and usable enough for the things I do with my device?
2. Any news from DerArtem about the kernel work? Will there be a new kernel for our device in the future?
THX,
Michael

If its from your HTPC, I honestly don't know as I have never tried it before. This latest build is much more stable, though it still has the gmail keyboard crash that I am tracking down. If you are happy with what you have, don't do anything. I would hate for you to make a purchase and not be happy.
I haven't heard from DerArtem in several weeks because he is in another country (Russia) doing a job. (He lives in Germany). To be honest, I don't think a new kernel is going to happen and I'm really upset by it.

One issue I see here is that when you start charging, a person paying for it like a app from the Play Store, they expect things to work. This "might" cause you to spend more time than you have been on it. Just my $0.02!
Didn't somebody donate an unused DS7 for DerArtem for this kernel project?

Yes, someone did give their DS7 to him.

I'm working on sensors now. The old sensor drivers we used were for something we dont even have. I found the correct Android drivers but they are for qualcomm devices, so I need to modify them to work.

Any developee care to build an Miui rom anyone?

Would any developer be willing to create an MIUI or IOS ROM for the HTC Desire 626 Metropcs?
Was told by a senior member that it would be impossible to create an iOS ROM, though I have seen it done before, and that an MIUI ROM is not necessary.
I honestly don't get why people don't see the value in MIUI. It's like taking a Porsche and turning it into a Lamborghini.
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like the twilight zone seeing the same os repeated over and over again.
But miui, in all honesty, has reinvented everything. From the home screen all the way down to the settings. I just don't get why no one is picking this up and running with it.
Maybe it's to hard to build a miui rom. Or maybe no one knows how to. Or maybe they won't release the proper files for the process. I don't know, help me understand.
I'm pray this doesn't come across the wrong way.
I mean it all in good spirit. I just want to know that's all.

Development Dead?

It has come to my attention that no more custom roms and or similar such development are available for our device. I can understand the frustration of previous developers due to the camera issue and other such bugs when developing for this device. Is there any hope for such a good phone?Any developers willing get this device to its maximum potential?... I would hate to see this go to waste. Thoughts?
I agree , I have one with a cracked screen but it works fine. If not having one is the issue hit me up, you can have it, but we want lineage or something that works good. I would even thow some BTC when it's done.
Development
I know a little bit about stuff works, and I've been thinking about possibly doing some development for this device. I'll just need to download the AOSP source, and I already have the MIUI source sitting by. I could possibly try cooking up some ROMs in my spare time. It'll take time though, if that's not too high of a price to pay.

That would be great! I would definitely be willing to test any builds you could cook up. I may not know to much but I can certainly help in anyway necessary.
