I ain't that good at this stuff, but I was brave enough to flash a DRM-fix for Z5. It actually booted and made me able to root it, so I'm happy! It ain't my work, but I couldn't find the original post, so I hope it's okay to upload the .zip I downloaded!
Edit: Phone reacted pretty slow and camera didn't work, so trying some other things!

Downloaded the firmware and tried fix the kernel. Rootkernel v5.0 stuck at drm fix.

I have seen that you are one of the first Rooter of this phone and followed your posts.:good:
I'm Rooted running Stock firmware with custom recovery. Can I follow this guide for re-locking bootloader?
So theoritically,
1. flash a lollipop ROM using Flashtool
2. Restore TA Partition (this will relock the bootloader?)
3. Flash Marshmallow ROM and then wait for Android N update?
Do you suggest to wait for DRM fix and use Rooted Nougat?
Thanks.

Did you fix drm and root it successfully?

I have successfully rooted. Here is the guide and patched kernel if any one want.

I have tried, OTA cannot update the new firware, can only use PCC to update the new fireware.
I can confirm Voodoo OTA RootKeeper cannot help protect root when u are updating using PCC.

I have tried bin4ry's method and it is confirmed by many users it is not working....
I have also tried motochpper and it is not working too.
But i know that if u unloack bootloader, you are still able to root.. but i just dont want to unlock my BL just yet....
Might need to confirm but I remember that on the arc to root you had to downgrade the kernel, root then re flash updated ed kernel
Needs to be confirmed first
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
My suggestion to preserve root is simple
Download the update.(just d update from the existing firmware)
Creating a .zip file
Modding it so that we don't lose root
Flash that zip through cwm so that we can enjoy updates widout losing root or trying to find new ways of rooting new firmware..

I try this and work, first i flash Stock Kernel with CWM , then i flash root from recovery and than back Stock Kernel from .tft file.

I woul also go with this solution approach..
1. For getting the FTF Files: http://mytechencounters.wordpress.c...eate-an-ftf-file-of-your-xperia-ics-firmware/
2. Then creating a Flashable Zip File: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183077
3. Preroot it..But how to do that?
I am looking for a easier way I didnt install CWM on my XZ...
unliess it is really no other ways, i will have unlock my BL but i will still wait

Madhouse was talking about Locked Bootloader phones, everybody knows how to root any firmware with an unlocked bootloader.
In the Xperia ARC, the procedure was to flash the newest firmware (not-rootable), then flash a previous kernel only (rootable) with flashtool, turn on phone, root it using any exploit available, turn it off, and flash the newest kernel alone with flashtool. Phone rooted and in the latest version.
I don't know, but maybe this method could work as this new firmware is still based on Android 4.1 just like the previous one, so the older, exploiteable, kernel should be able to boot the new firmware.

I already root my phone with this method , just flash old kernel with CWM_Recovery , reboot in recovery , flash root SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip , reboot in flash mode and then flash stock Kernel from 10.1.1.A.1.253 .

AGAIN, this is only possible on unlocked bootloaders. With locked bootloaders, once you update to 10.1.1.A.1.253, you loose root and recovery, so there is no way to do what you are saying. Once updated to .253, the only way to change kernel is via flashtool.

Install doomkernel and flash a stock based rom. Try the .257 one in the dev section.
No need to install recovery as doomkernel has it incorporated in it.
Use fastboot to install doomkernel

[MARSHMALLOW] Rooting systems?

Hi everyone,
I bought this phone these days.
I've update it to Build no. 32.1.A.1.185, Android 6.0
There is a method to root this version of firmware? I need only root, for now no recovery or xposed..
Someone can help me?
use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/development/rootable-kernel-sxz3-ivy-marshsmellow-t3336607
it works with 32.1.A.1.185 version,
dont forget to flash drmrestore to have xreality, bionz etc back

Thank you very much for fast response.
But, a method like "kingroot" on marshmallow don't work? I mean, a root method that don't cause lost of DRM, functionality and so on?
It is not possible to root your device without unlocking bootloader for now.. Afaik you have to backup your TA by downgrading FW to LP, Then update to MM, Unlock bootloader, Flash Rootable Kernel, Flash Super SU, Flash DRMrestore..

Well, I think it is not possible to root without unlocking the bootloader. It is recommended to backup ta partition. Unless you backup the ta partition you will not be able to use x reality engine, software updates etc..
I don't know whether a prerooted firmware can be used to root without unlocking the bootloader.

1. No exploit has been found, you indeed need to unlock BL to gain root access. You will lose usage of x reality engine etc once unlocked.
2. But, you are able to use x reality engine etc. as long as the DRM fix is in place in new kernel.
3. You cannot use anything else than official firmware as long as the bootloader is locked.

Not sure the backup TA tool works or not in MM, if not working you'll need down to LP first.
Okay, if you can backup your TA in 305, then yes, lock bl via Sony offical unlock site and flash the elf kernel in this thread with flashtool. Remember to flash the supersu in twrp too.
