What is your best performer ROM on battery life?, or with the least drain - Huawei P8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Having a difficult time to survive the day with b391, battery drains on deep sleep so, what is your best performer ROM on battery life?.
Or what rom doesn't have battery drain when the phone is in deep sleep? (B391 lost between 2-3% per hour which is HUGE.
Actually im testing b360 LATAM, will post the results later if anyone is interested.

2-3%/hr is not huge, I'm on 30% battery left with a running time of 30 hours; ~2.3%/hr.
I'm on the latest Gratitude ROM by Tecalote.

I think 3% drain with the phone suspended, is pretty huge.
Losing almost a quarter of the battery overnight. ?

I agree, that is a lot - I only lose 1-2% overnight when the phone is suspended (in Ultra battery mode).
When you go into Battery Manager > Consumption level, which apps are using the most under the 'All' & 'Background' tabs?
With all apps closed, I've 21 apps under 'All' & only 1 app under 'Background' (WhatsApp). The top 5 in the 'All' list are as follows. How does this compare to yours?
Google Services (13.45%)
Google App (11.77%)
Android System (5.12%)
Android OS (3.43%)
System UI (3.06%).

30hrs remaining with only 30% battery is amazing (or, it's reporting wrong figures?).
I'm getting 'only' 36hrs remaining with 98% battery.

2-3 %/hr is awesome in my opinion..
I've been using fRomFuture - Home for a while. The battery life is sooo bad but I just haven't changed rom yet.
Say I wake up at 7:30 am, check reddit for 5 minutes. Then go on and shower with maybe 2-3 songs playing on spotify. Also maybe 1 phone call and answering a text. Then I'm down at 80-85% by the time it's ~8:15-8:30.
My phone usually has ~10% battery left when I get home at ~ 3pm the same day. I don't even use it much when I'm at uni.

I really miss the doze feature, apps closing when screen off is such a bummer, makes phone ankward to use.
On my humble idol 3 i lost like 3% overnight, with all apps and sync working on the background.

If you don't find out what's draining your battery you can't fix it.

I come from a Moto G 1st gen (XT1032) and I couldn't agree more. I can't use the P8 (ALE-L23) in the same way that my now deceased Moto. Google My Tracks drain the battery quickly, Google Fit? No way José! Even Whatsapp trigger the alert for power hungry apps.
I don't recommend the P8 to anyone interested in use his phone like a tracking/navigation system. The GPS is also bad.

The gps is one of the most precise, with 3 satellite constelations and more precise than Samsung Note 3 and any Lumia phone for example. I use it for map data collect in some cases ( i work in the same business) and it didnt consume too much compared with an older Note 3 and a Lumia 925...

Not at all.

I use the Greenify app for the "aggressive doze" and "doze on the go" functions. No problem what so ever with battery drain on idle, I'm currently still on B391.
Doze on the go really helps if you carry your phone in your pocket all day like me. I'm getting 4 1/2 hours screen on time browsing, you tube, lots of SMS etc.

How I am getting good battery life: A simple guide with some links and stuff!

I see a lot of people complaining about battery life, myself included. I have tried just about every ROM there is and used all the battery saving apps and I think I've found a winning combination that will leave you with a fast phone and good screen on/off battery life. My stats so far today are 8 hours off the charger with 1 hr 30 mins SOT and still 80% battery left and that's shifting between my work WiFi which has many access points and causes WLAN_RX wakelocks and the crappy signal around this area.
I use the phone for general stuff like browsing the web, playing the odd 2D game whilst bored and push notifications from various social networking apps and I have been addicted to achieving 7+ hours of SOT over 2 days since I owned a Galaxy S1 many years ago. Instead of writing a crazy guide I'll just keep this thread simple and post my current configuration that is giving me good battery life:
- BOE2 bootloader, modem and ROM (I'm using Nameless ROM v2 for 910G)
- Roughly 25% brightness, all sync on, location @ GPS only (High Accuracy only when using Maps)
- Followed THIS GUIDE very closely which gives amazing deep sleep and still get notifications with the Push Notification Fixer app
- Uninstalled Facebook and Messenger and use Tinfoil with Pushbullet and the RSS Feed and set to open Tinfoil when I get a notification: Here's how to do that
- Discharge fully to 0% and then turn on again to make sure fully dead, then charge to 100% to calibrate battery
Wallah! You should get good battery life now provided you use the phone for the same things I do. It's that easy!
You need to be rooted for most of that thread don't you? I need my banking app from time to time so I can't root. Gutted!
Joe
Thank you for taking the time to write this up, but you should mention in the thread title that you need to be rooted. Thanks anyways though. I'm not the type to root. If Samsung can't deliver a good product for the $800 device they made, the device should be returned (which will be my case if the 5.1.1 update doesn't come in July or it doesn't fix the issues I'm having with this device).

Fully discharging a Li-Ion battery is not healthy for the long term life of the battery.
When will the myth of "re-calibrating" a battery finally die?!?
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
Similar to a mechanical device that wears out faster with heavy use, so also does the depth of discharge (DoD) determine the cycle count. The shorter the discharge (low DoD), the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid full discharges and charge the battery more often between uses. Partial discharge on Li-ion is fine. There is no memory and the battery does not need periodic full discharge cycles to prolong life.

Smartphone batteries haven't needed to be calibrated in years. The only time you ever had to "calibrate" your battery was when your phone would sit at either 5% or 1% for hours before dying.
Even then you were calibrating your phones interpretation of the battery voltage levels, not the battery itself. Unless I'm very much mistaken battery charging is handled by integrated hardware, not software.
As a software bug overcharging a Li-Po is dangerous and completely avoidable

Huh? Never had a problem running official apps from two different banks.
I'm finding TW to be slightly better on battery under my circumstances - which consist of terrible signal fluctuation and rx_wlan wakelocks due to so many wireless arrays at work - however I will probably go back to CM12.1 soon or wait for Android M developer preview to be ported to Note 4 (fingers crossed) as I just love how stock and minimalistic everything is on stock droid CM and AOSP and it seems to be a lot snappier when combined with L-Speed mod.

Its not a problem with phone.
It's software problem. Ok
I've had this phone for around 2 weeks and only managed to get 6 hours sot max (mix Wifi Lte, wifi only, Lte only)
Suddenly today got updated via OTA to b124 and...
88 percent remaining with 1.30 hrs sot is crazy efficient. Admittedly this is 100% on WiFi, but before b124 100% Wifi only getting me 6+ hours sot.
Will try mix Wifi Lte tomorrow and see the difference.

No.
Your baby is single sim and p10-plus dual sim dual hardware and simple is single system using battery ? low power and the dual system is used battery ? more power consuming ok.
And your phone software is perfect and the P10/plus software needs to be more work to Huawei. Ok
And finally you said it's baby. Ok
But i think p10 plus is not a baby it's a father. Ok
So need more work to be done.

Jesus man m.kk just don't **** with us. Why do you open up a thread when all you do is telling us fake ****?!?
It's just not possible to get 7.5 hours sot with normal usage.
The percentage of ur used apps tells me that u just switched ur display off time to 10 minutes and just didn't do anything with your phone.
Some whatsapps every now and then but that's it.
U just left ur display on until the bat was flat.
No one can get that sot with normal usage like some calls, internet, WhatsApp , music and some apps.
Not with the p10 plus hardware

Yah well if he really is getting that then he needs to get a life and do other things apart from playing with his phone all day. P10 plus battery is ok, not amazing, but good enough to get most people through a day.

I also used it while charging for about 15-20min.
10 minutes of SOT and 95% from 100%.Is this normal?
Depends what you are using the phone for. If it's something that needs a lot of CPU (like games) that sounds normal. Also depends on what period this was over as the phone will also consume power on standby (obviously).
I think i have found a solution for the battery i may make a video, even though it might be silly but it is worth trying. Or maybe i make short videos. My p9 amazed me yesterday. It did an unbelievable job.
I had 20% and i used it for 2 hour and half and when i checked the consumption i found the screen was on about 2 hours 21 min, i was using internet at the same time, listening to music and take photos. After this 2 hours and half the battery did reduce only 1% which means about 2 hours and half of usage and it stayed 19%.
And before that in the morning. I had 3% i chatted 30 minutes with the screen on and talked on the phone for 15 minutes and it stayed 3% haha..

For example while watching a movie use headphones instead of the speaker. It makes a big difference. On the previous screen shots i did not use them but i watched about 57 minutes on Netflix.
And for example while playing games or watching a movie or only using whatsapp, instagram, facebook, messenger and even the camera use only the ultra power saving, it makes a big difference. I can show you how it makes the difference and you compare yourself or try it with your mobile. Even you can check if the mobile will charge fast or not. Plus i disabled some features which are draining the battery and it worked.
For the first reply here when i used it for 2 hours..... I did use only ultra power saving anf it gave me a good time. I really love this mobile. I am usually using ultra power saving even outdoors because i can see the screen but sometimes i switch to the normal mode but with using the intelligent saving mode.
I think i explained lot here but maybe i can try to make a video if people want.

By the way listening to music by the speaker or by headphones makes a big difference.

Absolutely you are wrong. On android 7 it is different i still can use Facebook, camera, messenger and everything. And it really works well. For example, now i am not using ultra mode and i charged my phone over 12 hours ago, and i am using the internet and it did drain 30% of 2 hours 4 minutes of internet and screen on....
Look here. It really works well. Except when you open the camera then just sya goodbye to the battery haha. But i am trying to find a solution.
And now see.
After over 3 hours it remains 56%.

I'm not discovering the fire but I want to make a little contribution for those who has bad sot (I was really annoying for me because I can understand the upsets users ones), this was my discoveries:
The first one and most important:
It seems that the phone is programmed for a certain time of use, I mean it has a maximum time for sot: 6 - 9 hrs so you have to use that time to spend it on screen time because the phone also uses the battery for other stuffs. So if you pretend to get 6 hours or more in more than 1 day you will become mad and taking the phone and throwing it throw the window.
The second one:
Continuing with the last point doesn't matter if you try to save battery reducing resolution or stuffs like that. I use every day performance mode at max resolution and sound quality. The important thing is manage very well the brightness so disable the 10%extra from performance mode. Actually I could reach 6 hours at 1% with a intensive use with wify, data, gps and stuff like that.
The third one:
It is unuseful try to disable things and apps from the phone, they are not important on battery usage except for brightness and (at least for me) AOD. This one drains my battery and I really don't know what to do with this so it is disabled for me.
And the fourth and last one:
It seems that the battery needs a intensive usage in order to get it max potential. Some days ago I use the phone heavily charging it with the dex dock and using the interface and I noticed before that the battery expand it life.
Well, I'm testing if a dark theme is useful or not in order to get better sot but mean while I'm pretty happy with the battery life (40 days of usage); at beginning was very upset with this.
Hope to be useful for anyone.
Cheers and my best regards and thankfulness for the help of the community.
Thanks man
What's this 10% extra thing you are referring to?
My wife's default Note 8 gets approximately 5.5 hours SOT mine 6.5 to 8.5 SOT. She uses Facebook and the trash associated with it l and light themes. I don't,.also location on mine is gps only.

I advised her, but she doesn't care about getting more sot. That's all she uses the phone for I think, Facebook and Candy crush. Both of which are rubbish.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I haven't charged since last night at 11pm and I've used my phone to watch some football over acestream and lots of browsing and social media. I'm down to 33% battery remaining and 8h 30m with the screen on at 8pm the next day. This phone call easily do 10-13 hours screen on time per charge.

There will be better to come soon for this phone, once the custom ROMs start rolling in.
The Mi Max 2 using the latest Xtended ROM and then tweaked with the Oreo Hardrock kernel is getting 18hrs SOT.
Xiaomi are awesome!!
I'm getting 6hrs and 15 min SOT at 50%, with 24 hrs on the battery , this is with miui eu 8.8.9 rooted , 40% brightness, and clever connectivity turning off wifi and data when screen is off
I'm getting about 13h 20min SOT at home (WiFi turned on, Mobile data turned off). It takes about 59 hours total to go from 100% to 0%. Best battery ever!

Have you some different configuration to the original?
I am in Xiaomi.eu rom 8.8.23 and see that battery drain fast, compared to my old mi max 2 with MIUI 9 global stable
Here are my results with 50% off battery remain.
I think it drain a lot in wait
But is not bad, 5 Hours in 1 day.

you should stop caring about that 27 hours SOT. The way you are using your phone will define how many SOT that you have.
He mostly read Ebooks, that result does not surprise me. You could get that SOT as well if you just use your phone to read Ebooks with the medium brightness.
