Google Opinion Rewards on my Nexus 6 - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running Pure Nexus Rom 20170121. The last time I received a survey was 12-13-2016. Location mode is set to High Accuracy. I also even went in and changed Rewards from optimizing to not under the battery optimization.
I travel a lot and would assume that I would get one maybe once a week. But it's been so long. I am just curious if anyone else has a similar experience, or if there is anything I can change in order to see some surveys.

Same here.. I went like 3 months with nothing... Then last week I got one, and yesterday.... So they still come, just not as frequent as when first installed.

What u do for a living? I think those surveys are mainly conducted by Google. My guess is amount of surveys you get depends on if your in the target market or whatever product they're trying to push at the moment.
And they'll know if you fit the profile base on the "spying" Google does.

I just got a poll today. I'm on the latest PureNexus. Never had any problems with rewards.

They tend to come with varying frequencies but I get them often enough though. Running stock for what it's worth.

You know what's funny about Rewards? I have it on my N7 that only sits on my tool box at work and goes no where outside that building. Like most of you I would get them once maybe twice a month or not at all for weeks. I put it on the fact I lied to Google and got caught (kind of funny) on one survey early after signing up.
Then two days ago I started getting a bunch of surveys, 4 in a one day, then yesterday I had 25 sent to me. I kid you not. I thought something was broke at Google. The surveys even seemed to repeat to degree with only slightly changes in wording. I keep waiting for a "um we're sorry but something broke we're taking our money back" email from Google. Anyway I got a bunch of cash to give to the great developers here.
I just loaded Rewards to my N6 my to grab this screen shot as proof.
Did anyone else have Rewards cough up a bunch of surveys an money yesterday?

How Google Messed Up the N7 launch

So I just got done on the phone with Google and was extra pissed this morning. I explained how I preordered the N7 and it came after I went and got one (defective) from Sam's Club. The guy was pretty sympathetic and explained that the N7 wasn't supposed to be sold in retail stores until July 22nd! Apparently one guy made a mistake that let one store (Wouldn't tell me what store) start selling the N7. Other retailers said that if _____ is selling the N7, we should too.
Pretty crazy that this whole mess was because of ONE PERSON.
He also said I was the first person that he'd talked to that has had two defective devices. He went on by saying that out of all the N7s only 1% are defective. Sounds like TOTAL BS.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
im pretty sure he told you that just to get you off the phone...
But i know a few stores like Adorama and Ebuyer started selling the Nexus 7 around 5th or 11th.. then Google supposedly told them to go back to pre-order
Google messed up by not having enough of stock and hiring people off the street to ship these things
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/07/12/google-nexus-7-release-date-remains-unclear/
Launch is over, crap happens all the time, not sure why anyone would care at this point.
Maybe some people won't do preorders next time.. Don't see how that is going to hurt anyone including Google. Hot products will always have demand.
Time to move on to current topics... Not rehash the past.
Via my HTC Rezound
I fail to understand how this is a "messed up" launch when Google didn't give an official release date. Also, 8GB preorders through the Play store are being fulfilled just fine.
If anything, the retailers are the ones messing it up.
Stop whining and go do something useful.
Pretty sure the failure rate is well below the 1% (which is what this sorta consumer electronics rate is typically measured against). Google will have surely sold millions of these suckers by now, so there will naturally be plenty of threads of people that have problems, just like there are plenty of threads about any other consumer device.
Just be thankful it's nowhere close to the the 60% failure rate of the Xbox360. The worst consumer product in the history of man....
I'm sure most people blame Gamestop for selling them too soon. I know people who work there and the go-ahead came from Google. If that was the "mistake" then so be it. Holding them all back to the 22nd is just silly though. If the devices were in the store around the 6th then Google should have shipped them then so we could all have them on the 12th.
As far as the defective units, 1-3 percent is the norm and I think that's probably where the Nexus falls. I'd imagine it's closer to 3 because of the screen "washed out" issue that will go unreported by many.
So far I'm aware of
- ghosting which seems to hit only pre-release white units
- dead pixels, often forming a line
- raised screen
- other hardware faults such as speakers not being connected, headphone jack giving distorted sound etc..
Complainers are louder than the satisfied. My first unit from Staples is perfect and the second that I received yesterday from B&H is perfect too. The touch input settings are on both are a little overly sensitive but an OTA update will correct that.

The retailers were given a tentative release date and told they could start shipping on the 12th, the same day the Nexus 7 arrived in their inventory.

Google pushed it back at the last minute and someone didn't listen.

Typically phone support personnel are at the bottom of the corporate ladder and would have no inside knowledge other than their own unsubstantiated speculation.
He was just being a tool....
I work on phones as well, and I don't make up bull****. Reason being: Calls are recorded, so you have to be able to back up what you say, period.
Anyhow, The usual rule of thumb is that people with a happy experience hardly look to go out of their way on a forum to comment how nice it is.. on the other hand.. when something is working terribly, they flock to websites and forums to complain.
Seeing as only a small percentage of us are having issues, and even we're just a small amount of total buyers out there. I'd say everything has gone well enough so far.
Nobody cares. Move on.

The worst experience/service I've ever had in my life from Google Play Store

Hey guys just passing along my horror story from the Google Play Store. So I pre-ordered my Nex7 on June 29th cool, got it on July 17th. Opened it up and started charging it. It doesn't accept a charge from the included charger, or so I tried 3 other chargers no go, tried from my computer to the tablet and it lets me access the internal storage like it should but alas, no charging. Factory reset no go, long story short I'm not a Android noob my any means and tried everything because honestly who wants to mail back their new toy? Called support waited on hold for a little over an hour which was expected because I'm sure a ton of people were calling asking where theirs as at so it is what it is. So it gets sent to the "Internal" team for RMA and exchange and they will Email me my UPS stuff. So 4 days later I get the email (July 21st) and I ship it back on the following Monday (July 23rd) and order the new one the same day which the pre-authorized my card for the 249.99 in case I never send back my original makes sense ok. Normally the new one is mailed out in 3 days or so. So Thursday (July 26th) rolls around and Google gets my old tablet and mine still hasn't shipped. So finally on Monday (July 29th) I call to ask if something is wrong or whatever because I still haven't seen anything on my replacement tablet and I get the explanation of it's "Stuck" and the "Internal" team is looking into it. So at that point I'm curious what stuck actually is? I've sent in my old one and it was received and I've ordered my new one with was pre-authorized. She didn't know but assured me I'd get an email VERY soon on it. So fast forward to today (August 13th) I've called once a week to inquire about it and I'm still being polite about it because I've had to work customer service when I was younger and I know these poor people get freaked out on by tons of callers even though they didn't do anything wrong. Today I was told that apparently the ENTIRE internal team was in a meeting until noon today (Right?) and the CSR I talked to today would personally talk to a few of them because it's been 3 weeks since I put in my order for a replacement and it SHOULD take roughly 3 day (I'm not holding my breath).
So basically I'm failing to see the problem here. They received my old one, they've charged me for a new one, but it hasn't been sent. I'm not understanding why it takes 3 weeks to solve this problem on my it's "Stuck" when it should take about 30 seconds to look at my account and see everything is as it should be and send the new one.
On a side note I never activated it on my account so it's not like there's a $20 credit they're trying to sort out or anything it's all about as strait forward of an exchange as you can get. I've already purchased a Nexus 7 from Sams Club (Before mine ever came in the mail) and this one was suppose to be for my girl friend and now she's mad because she loves mine and wants her own. I doubt even if this gets resolved today I'll ever buy from them again and if it doesn't get resolved I guess I'll return it and drive 10 minutes to Walmart and buy one.
Sorry if it seems like a rant but I figured I'd just share my current experience with the Play Store.
why not just ask google for a refund and buy it locally?

he'll wait a long, long time for his money back if he does that. Day 15(in terms of business/working days) since i refused delivery of my tablet and still no refund in sight.
Check this out I have been submitting a return request every monday or tuesday for 3 straight weeks. Absolutely nothing. I hate waiting on the phone but I guess I will have to. Why do they have the form there when they never answer the requests? I'm not picky about customer service but this is terrible.

Ten_fold is correct, it will take 2 weeks to get my money back even though they've had my original device in their hands for a "Pending" exchange for almost a month now. I'm not really picky or anything but this whole thing is pretty nuts. Honestly at my job if I did stuff like this I'm pretty sure I'd be fired pretty quick especially since this isn't even anything special just mail the Fing thing out.

I'm not super stressed about it, but having £168 of my money taken away from me for almost a month, for an item i technically never even received is beyond a joke really.
I refused my order from the Play Store as instructed by Google when they wouldn't let me cancel. A month on and I'm still waiting for my refund.

It's the Google Wallet transaction page.
I had a very similar experience with Logitech, and after I sent a formal written complaint they sent me a free G700 gaming mouse ($100 value).
I'd recommend actually reaching out to Google in a formal and professional manner. See if you can find the email address for a customer service member, or someone a little higher up the food chain.

The Play Store SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

I went online at exactly 12:00 PM when the play store opened and had my new Nexus 4 16 gig model in the shopping cart and was checking out when I was kicked out of the site from an processing error.
When I went to select the 16 gig model to begin the process over again, the "coming soon" message appeared and wanted my email address. This is total bull****, a company the size of Google can't even launch a product properly?
Now both the 8 and 16 models can't even be selected from the site. I have been waiting and waiting for this phone to be released and can't even buy one. Total bull****.
I suspect it's to generate hype for it. I was lucky enough to get one of the 8gb restocks about 6 hours ago.
Happened to me also! Worst store around!!
Same thing happened to me. Oh well I guess I'll update my Galexy Nexus and Nexus7 to 4.2 and try again later.
Same as everyone else. I tried for 25mins got the same errors. Went to a store and bought one. Never buying through Google again

Already Sold out
keep refreshing throughout the day. I've seen the COMING SOON page switch to IN STOCK a few times already, so I 'd imagine this will happen throughout the day as orders fail and phones go back to stock.
Cant get it either
We've all been waiting mate. Many people are being very cynical towards Google. I don't think people understand how many people are accessing their sites simultaneously. I also think people aren't used to not getting what they want. To think people expect Google to be able to support the world's demand for the Nexus 4.
Play store started the sale before 9am (PST).
Such a joke. We got troll'd
You can't even get the bumpers either. . . :-/
yeah i know it is just a phone but that is serious bs.... it's google how can their server be that bad.. do you guys even think there were that many for sale? I doubt it really sold out a ton of units in 5 mins...
Wish I could just preorder it and have them send it to me when they get stock ASAP. It'd be unbelievably more convenient for them and for us, since they would get an idea of the amount of sales and we wouldn't have to worry about not getting one in the next few weeks.
Same here I wonder if we crashed the system. Cant see how as google runs most of the internet.
Silly make a few phones.
Wonder did they think we don't now a steal when we see one. I'll bet we will see them on EBAY for 500 to 600 easy come christmas time they'll go for 900 and up.
Merry Christmas were screwed. Worst part I'll bet some people bought like 100 plus phones. Just so rip people off. Google didn't even stop and say you can only use one phone and purchase up to 5 for your family.

Never any purchase delays when Google has 10 cent app sales. They have the capacity to handle this smoothly. It is all a big marketing fiasco and Google pooped on its most determined customers.
Crazy to say 12. Have us guess what time zone. Have reps say different ****. Then say 9 PST but sell it beforehand. Many of us wasted our time to this.

[POLL]: Should Google re-implement the pre-order system?

Simple question: Should Google re-implement the pre-order system?
Hopefully some "people of power" within Google will look at the stats generated from this Poll, and adjust their game plan accordingly.
I personally think the pre-order system is the only way to conduct sales on a Lunch date of a high-demand new product for a several reasons, some of them being:
a) Allows both the Manufacturer and/or Google to accurately gauge the market demand prior to launch, and thus create/plan stock accordingly.
b) Allows accurate shipping times to be predicted based on the volume of orders, rather than playing a "guessing game".
c) Allows a specific amount of Launch Date devices to be in stock to at least meet the demand of some of the "on the day purchases", while still achieving the "sold out effect" marketing scheme, if they want.
d) Consumers are more comfortable being informed with expected wait times for orders; comfortable with the fact that the device is already on pre-order (now it's in the hands of Google to roll out the devices). AND consumers don't have to keep checking a website in order to find out if it's available again or not.
The bottom line is: The pre-order system is a more professional and organized approach to selling a high demand item, from only one online source.
Furthermore, I think that Google Play should start taking orders now for the re-stock of Nexus devices, so that even if it has to put on back-order, at least the consumer knows they're in-line/queue for the device, when it becomes available, no more frequent and unnecessary effort in consistently checking back.
I would prefer it would over refreshing lots

google could care less about the stats from an xda post... we comprise of probably less than 0.01% of the buying market for the n4
I think they should!. Thing is.... Pre ordering gives us as the consumer the option to give interest and thus giving Google the information needed to generate a general clue as of demand. At the moment, the only demand they can calculate is site activities.
As its been mentioned all over this forum, both here in the UK & Internationally. Google, has really shown themselves to be very amateurish on how they have conducted there orders and allowing the customer to show interest in purchasing there products.
Poorly managed I hear you ask?!... Its been a complete embarrassment for such a big company!.

Well if you want the device, you want the device. You're going to pay either now or later, doesn't make a different.
Better to be informed and secure that your device is on order and not "up in the air".

For something like nexus 4 I would definitely put down my money even it was 6 months before shipping.
It should make a eu play store devices... thre are no custom between states in europe, why is only in 5 countries ._.
There was problems when they did preordering before however there was only really 2 problems they needed to fix rather than abandoning preorders completely.
First the problem with the nexus 7 was that as orders came in it didn't change the estimated delivery timescale. If the site updates the estimate even if it gets to be weeks at least you know what to be expect. How hard is it to say we have x thousand for release, y thousand a week later and update the estimate accordingly as ordered are placed.
Secondly the other problem was they ended up sending out newly placed orders immediately while seeming to forget about those that preordered. This is something that should have been fixed quite easily by simply fulfilling orders in the correct order.
I agree that if they did preordering properly it would be better than the current system.

Haha says who?
Honestly, I would vote that Google leave the ordering/shipping business all together. They can still make great devices, but launch after launch, Google has proved that they just can't get a clue. If Amazon.com can give me free two day shipping on a 15 pound medicine ball and charge me $30, I think that Google should be able to successfully launch 5, yes 5 new products at the same time. And remember, this is not the first F'd up launch. Pre-orders for the N7 didn't go so well either.
Personally, I will stay with the Nexus line far into the future, however, no longer will I be purchasing from Google directly.
And PS, their ordering web site look like it is from 10 years ago, doesn't provide barely any useful information, and sometimes doesn't even get updated until after the even has happened (IE, someone receives and order even though their order says "Pending"). This is from the same company that created an app that can zoom all over the world and show us down to 100 feet what a street in, say, China, looks like.
Nah screw that. I like instant gratification, and want my stuff as soon as its announces.

I think google likes EU custumores buy million of Apple devices. And Apple thanks.
Google = :angel:
Google royally screwed up the launch, everyone can agree with that. Google should implement a preorder system and like you said allowed people to secure their place in line.
Even Apple allows people to do that via carriers (Rogers in Canada allowed people to pre-order). Looks like there's a lot Google needs to learn before they get this right as their Nexus 7 launch wasn't that good in the first place.

It's in all the companies best interests to get as much stock out and sold as quickly as possible. I don't think they're withholding anything from you and I don't think tweeting about it will do any good.
If they go the other route and make it open for pre order people are going to complain that their pre order hasn't changed status.
It's a lose lose situation until they make more phones.

This is not about people who haven't gotten stock yet. My order for one has been stuck on pre-order since day one on the 13th. I got tired of it and went out and bought one outside of the play store. Now this ones gonna be a Xmas present but I can't seem to get my order jammed free. Every time I call they tell me nothing is wrong and Google wallet says the same. My order just seems to have been lost. Some people fully charged not just a pre-auth charge and still no tracking. Yet more on the 13th and 27th who got charged and got tracking but but there order seems to have just disappeared. Thank you for your time I'm not going to speak on this anymore here. My intentions are not to start any type or argument merely to help inform others of what has taken place to some. We are all the Google faithful.

I can see the frustration but that's how the play pre-order system works. The same thing happened with my order for a nexus 7. Day one order, Nothing until it's shipped and no indication of it being anywhere until then. If the rep said there is nothing wrong I can guarantee that you'll get it when it's ready.

The problem with this is myself, and a lot of people in the Play Store Order & Shipping thread, have been waiting since the 13th for our devices. This wasn't a pre-order, it was an actual launch. We have no idea where our devices are and people who ordered on the 27th, when the store re-launched, already have their devices. Some of those people have tracking numbers but no phone has been shipped. With the hashtag, we're trying to get attention from either Google or the media to get this resolved.
