Data recovery after sudden factory reset, possible? - Huawei Mate S

Hi guys,
As the title says, will i be able to retrieve my lost files after sudden factory reset? i just saw my phone restarted then saw the emui logo which i thought was updating then all of a sudden asking me all the details which was present when using a new phone such as, gmail account, language, time etc.
I already rooted my phone because that was the requirement of all recovery software(dr fone, easeus mobisave, remo) but haven't got any luck of seeing at least some of the files i know was present before my phone did the factory reset.
I saw this post here in xda about internal memory recovery, will it be the solution to my problem? will it work on my phone? or i should stop looking for a solution?
here's the thread i'm talking about:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
P.S.
after rooting my phone i disabled my wifi/mobile data, removed the sim card and memory card to prevent updates, etc. thus making it overwrite the files i want to recover <- this was the tip present in all sites i visit looking for a solution to my problem.
I learned my lesson now to always backup.
Thank you in advance guys, I hope you guys can help me, sorry if I wrote a long post asking for a solution.

Galaxy S3 Rooting problems.

Hey I recently used this tutorial /watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=XOJz0-isyas (sorry wouldn't let me post the full link cause I just signed up) with my S3 i9305 and after rooting it, and turning it on, I see no change at all, except for the fact that my SIM card isn’t being read, and my about info says that I have a modified device. What have I done wrong? I’m assuming this isn’t for i9305 and I goof’d up hard. Willing to pay on PayPal with help on restoring this back to it’s default settings.
EDIT: Okay, I've successfully rooted it thanks to this thread;

But still, my SIM card isn't being detected.

Which SIM card do you use? Though I9305 supports nearly all mobile networks except CDMA, there still might be some incompatibilities. You can first replace your SIM card from your mobile network operators and see if it works. If it works, there must be something wrong with your recent SIM card. If it doesn't, there might be some incompatible problems or maybe your EFS was lost / broken.
For the rooting problem, if you have rooted your phone, of course you have a "modified device". So don't worry. If you want to bring your device to normal status, using "Triangle Away" first to reset flash counter and then restore factory settings. You'll find that your phone status restores to normal. Attention please: you'll lose everything after restoring factory settings so please do remember backing up your personal data including your phone book, favorites, apps & data, etc. Also you need to backup everything on your internal SD card 'cause I can't remember whether restoring factory settings will be to erasure your internal SD card. So just in case.
Hope my post can help you.
I Also have made the same mistake and my phone lost my imei Information
If anyone can suggest a way to restore this that doesn't involve a warranty claim it would be much appreciated

Invalid IMEI, no sim, please help :(

Hi guys, I got a big big problem with my K3 Note, I think I went too far with wiping partitions before installing a new rom, here are the folders I wiped:
data, cache, system, protect_f, protect_s, dalvik cache.
After reboot my phone worked just fine but it didn't see the simcard, I thought it's the OS issue and wiped and flashed several times more.
Now when I got into the issue I noticed *#06# returns "invalid imei", after a little bit research I found out it's a common issue with MTK phones and found multiple possibilities for solving the problem, none of which worked for me though, for no known reason ;( What I've tried so far is: chamelephon app, MTK Engineer mode commands, flashable ZIP with the IMEIs, writing it with SN write tool and another program named something like Mauri? if I remember correctly, all done on the stock rom flashed with flashtool, now I'm retrying all of above on a custom rom.
I read somewhere that missing basebands can be an issue for MTK engineer mode, but I couldn't find any more info on the topic
I don't know if it is connected but the stock rom worked much worse than I remember when I first got the phone, it freezes completely(doesn't react to power button, keeps the led light after unconnected from charger, completely no response, I have to take out the battery each time) about once every 3-5minutes.
Another thing is, does anybody have any idea what the protect_f and _s folders are? I think I shouldn't have wiped them...
Any help would be much appriciated, I don't need another bricked phone... ;(
can you access bootloader mode and reflash with flashtools? i assume you dont have a backup? as far as i know the first partitition is responsible for the connection through USB so as far as i know if im not wrong you could reflash these partitions. dont know much however over these mtk devices
---------- Post added at 11:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:41 PM ----------
freezes and shutdowns, even in lenovo stock recovery are a common problem i have found out. this has nothing to do with partitions in this case however dont know if this can be valid in your case. however in my example it is a fault within some lenovo stock roms. hope anyone can help you with more information
I do can flash with flashtool, at least thats how I flashed the stock rom, but I dont have a backup. Is it possible to use my IMEI with a different backup?
with my limited knowledge over the subject. preloader is the recovery since you can get a connection, what is safe to try without tinkering to much is flashing the latest vibe 3.0 45 dev rom over at needrom.com, since this rom also affects other partitions. once you have done this completely wipe every partition manually sometimes in TWRP i have seen some partitions dont function fully until you change partition format from ext4 to f2fs and back to ext4 and then wipe and repair in my case it has been for example.
as for the IMEI i havent been handson with these subjects so it is better for someone else to inform. This tip can be tried without risk as hopefully the dev rom will restore partitioning, at least it is worth a try.
---------- Post added at 02:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:50 PM ----------
i cant answer your question on the IMEIs since lack of experience on the subject. however what i can say is that freezing and shutdown in stock k3 notes is a common problem and it is not hardware related. Does this problem also occur with a custom rom such as AOSP
Just to give you my total view on fixing the issue hopefully what i would try is:
1. flashing twrp
2.through twrp flashing the latest dev rom
3.reformatting every partition (meaning cache,dalvik cache,system,data,internal storage)
4.flashing a rom such as androim through twrp
5.trying the lost IMEI patch, input your info
6.to be sure use xposed framework uninstaller cause of performance gains
7.eventually using some tweaks such as l speed to get your device optimal
If the issue of freezing and random shutdown was of the same nature it should be solved 100%
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ed-thread-lenovo-k3-note-k50-t3158522/page117 latest dev rom
Damn, the official roms are unusable, they keep crashing after like 2-3mins.
Thanks for the link to the rom! I was looking for it for some time. Well, it installed without further complications, now I just need to find out how to restore my IMEIs... Hope at least one of all the methods will work this time.
I've found the answer to all my problems. I need a backup from another K3 Note, manually overwrite the IMEIs with mine and voila, it's supposed to work, at least works on other MTK phones.
If anybody here is willing to help me out please contact me, if you're afraid of sharing your IMEI numbers I can send you mine with an instruction on how to overwrite them, you could save me my phone and some money.

invalid imei number problem solved
1. flash new stock rom in ur device.
2. now you have two options
a. you can update your device. ( do all the updates of lollipop but don't upgrade it to marshmallow )
b. you can use the current rom that you have got after flashing.
3. root your device using kingroot app that you can easily find on net.
4. after rooting install chamelephon app on your device from play store.
5. remove the battery and note down the imei numbers written on back of the device.
6. plugin the battery and switch on your device.
7. open chamelephon app.
8. enter the imei numbers.
9. Hit apply new imei option.
10. wait for 1 min.
11. switch off your phone and then switch it on.
12. your sims are ready to work.....
Note ( do not update the device to marshmallow as kingroot app is not able to root lenovo vib marshmallow updated devices.)

i try already your solution, but still not working for my phone.
Please help
Dear Nechoya,
I got the exact same problem as I followed your footsteps of wiping too much.
Now my K3 note has NO IMEI and sim says NO SIM CARD INSERTED. I have tried all the usual methods mentioned on various threads but nothing is working for me. Can you please clarify what worked for you with some details. I am not a pro and anything from your side or any of the members reading it will be of immense help.
Thank you.
PS I Dont have any kind of backup
Try lord Arcadius' method.

Phone blocked

Hi Guys,
I think I have no lucky these days...
I was testing a new ROM and when a returned the backup with TWRP android asked me a patteren for unlock.
The patter I usauly use dont work.
I found a help that say to erase some files in /data/system but it doenst work...
I had a idea to block the cell with my google account and set a new PIN for unnlock... It doenst work
Now I have the cell blocked by google and its impossible to access the internal memory with TWRP...
I need help... I dont know what to do...
Please !!!!
Sounds like your only way back is to format/delete all your data and start from scratch. You can use fastboot to do this.
I think this is the way... but I never did this before...
Do you know a step by step to do this !?
If I understand rightly you have a Google locked phone. I have not tried this on the OP3T but if you are able to reach the boot up screen where Google asks you for the password/pattern lock, you can try inserting an OTG drive of any capacity into your device. The phone will ask for changing storage. After clicking 'OK' you will be taken to the storage section. Go to 'Apps' and from there to 'Setting'. If you are able to reach this far, do a complete reset from that 'Settings' section and you would be able to recover your phone. I repeat, I have not tried this on the OP3T but have successfully tried this on some other phones. Best of luck and hope you get back your toy.
Let me also add that you won't be able to recover a Google blocked phone by factory resetting from recovery. The only way to do this is to reset it from the settings section of the OS itself after you have booted up.

Can't load Andoid system. Your data might be corrupted.

Hi everyone,
Yesterday after pulling mi phone out of my pocket I found it with this message on the screen: "Can't load Andoid system. Your data might be corrupted. ..."
The only options are try again and Factory data reset.
I have tried now everything I could possibly imagine and find online but nothing worked.
Is there any way I can copy my pictures of the phone, from recovery mode via adb for example?
I could also imagine to updating the phone via adb sideload but I can't find a newer OTA then the one I have so it would not update.
Also I could not find a way to boot in safe mode which I think could be another option.
I hope you can help me.
Thanks
Hello,
My sister has that problem also.
You need to put out the SIM card. Do a factory reset, just connect a Google account to get the updates from Android One and install all the updates till September patch without the SIM card... Then put the SIM card in phone and restart.
Normally it's ok. By my sister works the phone now perfectly.
Good luck

Unfortunately my phone the xiaomi mi a2 doesn't have a sim card slot ... so no sim card. That means to my understanding that all the data is saved on the internal storage that will be deleted with the factory data reset....
Unfortunately due to how Android uses File Based Encryption, your data is effectively lost. Im sorry.
I had once faced this issue too.
As far as my experience goes — there are no way for us to fix this random occurrence. It rarely (extremely) happens, so it makes the situation much worse as it is akin to a ticking time bomb waiting to take down all of your precious data. Till this day I am still wondering what triggered the data to be "corrupted".
My advice is to make use of a backup solution. Whether DIY (simple FTP server on your desktop), or using a cloud solution (Google Drive, Google Photos (free if willing to sacrifice original photo quality)). Having a periodical backup can minimise the damage you would have to deal in the event of data corruption happening again

SIM card is the card to call, SMS and have 4G..
Not a external storage, mi a2 doesn't have it.
Try to restart the phone without a SIM card. By my sister it was that problem, and the phone run on android 8 with the issue. Need to update to android 9.
Hope you can fix it.

Sorry, apparently I was too tired when I read your reply and my brain replaced sim card with sd card
Never the less I tried now to restart without the sim card but it still boots to the same error.
When you said "Do a factory reset, just connect a Google account to get the updates from Android One and install all the updates till September patch without the SIM card" did you mean by choosing the option factory data reset? This will lead to total data loss right? Or did you mean using a different method?
I think with 10.0.14 my phone runs on the newest version that's why I could not run an update via adb sideload which I hoped could do the trick...
Yes, you need to do option 'factory data reset'. All data will be lost, no other options to fix this issue. Sorry.
Then do the steps I said in previous posts. And restart phone a couple of time without and with SIM card.
Normally it will be fixt and phone runs good.
Good luck!

Again i am sorry. I understand how it feels to lose precious files. [emoji17]
Yes there is virtually nothing can be done. Due to how File Based Encryption works, your key is also encrypted. (yes FBE kind of encrypts the device twice). When you boot into TWRP for example, it would ask for the decryption key (usually your PIN). As for my past Corruption issue, TWRP keeps saying the entered key as incorrect. Until the key part is correct, we cannot get a copy of /data partition (nandroid) to tinker with it later on.
When this Corruption occurs, it effectively lock us out from our data. Even using TWRP won't cut it out. Unfortunately I myself is not expert enough on this matter as the fact that this happens out of blue kind of point out to a flaw with the Android itself. Fortunately it's rare, but i take no risk and subscribed to Google One ever since.
I do wish that in the event this happens again, the user (us) should at least able to use TWRP without providing decryption key, so that we could make an image copy of /data. Then i also wish android would allow us to export the decryption key whenever we want so we can keep it. Then when data "corrupts" we should theoretically able to use the decryption key to decrypt much needed files.
But hey i could only hope.

Bad news odin and such wont help. Right now you are what's called soft locked you have 1 recourse and that is factory reset. Using adb it might be possible to pull off a backup of the file system but that is still it. If you get a readable backup you are still going to need factory reset. The only thing that would have helped would be twrp and nandroid backups you could have loaded them or used twrp to mount the emmc to copy off. And since you are stock you might have encrypted the emmc and sd card and if that is the case nobody can help you you only have 1 option and that is factory reset and restore from syncronized backup.
What's more is this isn't an issue of a maligned 3rd party theme needing to be overwritten it is from an official store on a stock device. Good news is you seem to have signed into samsung cloud backup and perhaps linked a google account to the phone so the auto backup should restore your contacts and txt messages.
