Double Tap 2 Wake: please test - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Has anybody tested the following DT2W on Mate8
It is a post to enable double tap to wake on Huawei devices and it is possible that it work on the P9.
I did the changes and have been able to get it working partially. I get the settings option to enable/disable dt2w but I can only double tap the lockscreen to sleep the device. Double tap 2 wake does not work for me.
If anybody could test on their P9 so that we can rule out if this works or not?
There was one mention of a P9 user that validated it working on the MM rom for the P9 (B182) but I am on B378 Nougat so perhaps this is the issue.

What are that changes?

P9 - B378 nougat
4 double-tap the alarm is activated.
4.1 [Component 1]
4.2 [Component 2]
4.3 installs the application called Root Browser. [Google Play link]. Total Commander can be installed!
Root Browser 4.4 launch, and look for the system / buildprop file and then deleted. (Do not then reboot the phone because bootloop will!)
4.5 We find the system / emulsifying / base / xml / hw_easywakeupmotion_config.xml and delete files.
Then start the Total Commander 4.6, then copied the downloaded files into place and set the jogosutságokat. (Without it does not work TELO).
Buildporp the system folder, the hw_easywakeupmotion_config.xml the system / emiu / base / xml folder.
Set 4.7 Eligibility. Both press and hold the Total Commander file and selecting the properties, and then change the permissions from the pictures.
Then restart your phone. If everything went well, the settings> Intelligent Assistant> Motion Control section, a new menu item, called Double-tap appears.
Note Buildprop also contains a variety of tuning.

I'm on B378 as well, and it's working fine for me.
The only issue that I'm having it's that sometimes the screen takes 2 or 3 seconds before turning on. But it rarely happens.

Good to know it works.
Do you have the smart cover enabled?
Which version of the B378 did you install and how. Was it just the OTA or a full install? Via dload?
I am trying to figure out why it does not work on my end.
Thanks

I installed B361 using this. Then, I received B378 via OTA.
Before that, I installed B361 using the B322 firmware, and I had several bugs, like missing NFC. But I didn't test DT2W then.
If you installed B360 or B361 using a beta firmware, I suggest you to do a rollback to Marshmallow, and then install B378 or B361 via OTA if avaliable.

Not working for me on L09 with B378.
But I would seriously kiss you guys if someone finds a way to make it work

Well, it should be working. I had the same problem when I bought this phone.
The main problem was, that every ROM version's from 4.1 to 4.4.4 version's wasn't compatible with vibration module. What was I doing to re-wake it?
Firstly, try some of these tricks:
1. Go straight to your service menu (in the dialer dial this code: *#*#7378423#*#*)
2. After that, go to the services tab and click on "Vibrate"
3. And lastly, push and hold any volume rockers button to wake-up your vibration module.
It worked whether I used this tricks.
As far as I can see, this problem doesn't appear on the lollipop (AOSP 5.0) version.
I hope my message will help you somehow
Thanks But It's Not Working
when i got my first Z the vibration died in a day or so, could be a hardware related problem.(i had no problems replacing it, just took a while for me to explain that it's hardware related)
try hard reset, deleting all data etc, if it doesnt work, i hope you got your warranty

As TorN-d- said before, you only 1 last chance - to reinstall your operating system. That can be done by using Sony PC Companion, which you can download straight from here: HERE
If it doesn't work, it may be that your phone has damaged vibration module which needs to be replaced

How to disable OTA Updates (LG Optimus L90 D415)???

I have a LG Optimus L90 D415 and today I received an update. But since I'm already rooted I don't want to install this update. I have looked around and tried suggestions that worked on other LG phones but I can't seem to get this update notification to leave my notification bar at all. It only pop up when I turn on my wifi and it's getting annoying. Also I don't want it to install while I'm sleep or anything so I kind of need help getting rid of it ASAP!
I have the same question.
On my ZTE Awe, you can stop the updates by changing the build.prop to mimic the version of the update. If someone with the update would post a build.prop, it wouldn't take long for us to try that method.
Same here. What's this update for anyway... lollipop?
I don't want to lose root from it and don't know if towelroot will work after it is updated...
Any updates?

Open your phone’s dialer and go to LG hidden system settings.
You can do this by dialing the following code: 3845#*415#
Having entered the system menu, scroll to WLAN Test.
Select OTA Setting option and turn it off by tapping the Disable button..

i have found that unticking the show notifications check box on google play services hides it when the OTA disable doesnt work like it did for me.

[Guide][Huawei P8][15-4-2016]How to hide the Navigation Bar All Roms

Hi guys, this is a tutorial on how to hide the navigation bar for all firmware, just one consideration you need to take after the following process you can later update only up to Version B150 (confirmed) and up to "Marshmallow, only if you update to Marshmallow from a rom that has the navigation bar hide toggle activated" and still be able to maintain the ability to hide the navigation bar. If you update to version B170 or B180 you risk losing the ability to hide.
Update (15-4-2016): In the latest Marshmallow update B320 you cannot hide the navigation bar the only way is to go to an old version that has the suspend button like version B120 or B132 then you need to activate the hide toggle afterwards update to Marshmallow B320 rom directly, now the hide navigation toggle will stay but if you make a system reset it will disappear and you cant't have it back unless you do the whole process again
--
Update (16-10-2015): If you're able to get version B200
If you are in the European region or in China and manged to get the update, it seems touchplus is back so simply skip to the
How to part.
--
What you will need?
1. vB120 stock firmware or any firmware with Touch plus which you can download from Huawei support page
http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/products/index.htm?pname=P8(GRA-UL00)&pcode=GRA-L03
in the link up replace 'en' with your country page short code ...................example: Singapore -> 'sg'
you should be able now to see the base stock firmware vB120 or any base firmware with Touch plus option and download it.
2. SDcard
** Use Hisuite from the PC to backup you apps and contacts if you don't want to lose them, which you can restore them later after we finish with the process.
How to:
A. If you are on v B120 or v B132 or v B200(not sure all regions)
please follow the instructions exactly in order to hide the navigation bar
1.Go to settings->under Smart assistance heading:

2. If you want to update your firmware it is ok to do it up to version B150 u will still be able to maintain the ability to hide the navigation bar "But make sure you don't reset your device after the update or you will lose the ability to hide", if you can update to v200 you will have to redo the How to part i guess.
View attachment 3487493
B. If you are on version B140+,B150,B170,B180,B320
1. Download vB120 or vB132 firmware it will be in .zip format, extract the firmware which will create a folder called 'dload', copy that folder to the sd card "you need to have an SD card to be able to do this".
2. Go to settings->updater->click the menu to update locally...... it should see now the update package you placed in your SD card.
3. Select it and let it install.
4. After the installation reset the phone from settings in order to have a clean rom without bugs.
5. Follow the instructions outlined up for hiding the navigation bar for version B120 or B132.
6. You can update later on only to version B132 or B150 or B320 and still be able to hide the navigation bar.
7. Use Hisuite in your pc to restore your apps and contacts if you want to.
Check the Pictures attached for clear understanding. Enjoy:good:
P.S: To other Huawei device users there is a guide to enable touchplus on your device written by @kuhno Thx. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gx8...-touchplus-t3390358/post67122095#post67122095 . Please check it out.
I have a few question:
1. Doesn't it mean downgrading to B120?
2. 'dload' has to stay on MicroSD card for good?

1. Yes you need to downgrade in order to get the Touchplus setting(Responsible for hiding the navigation bar) which is removed from recent updates. After the installation of version B120 you can upgrade using the updater to version B132 or B150 max (Don't worry the updates are small in size) and still maintain the ability to hide the navigation bar, but after you update the Touchplus setting will be removed from the firmware higher than version B132 that is why you shouldn't reset the rom or else risk losing the ability to hide.
2. Regarding "dload" you can remove it from the SDcard after you install the firmware.

Yes you can update and still be able to hide the navigation bar(update only to vB132 & vB150) but the Touchplus setting will be removed that is why make sure to not reset the phone after the update or you will lose the ability to hide. Good luck

Follow the instructions outlined up, you can not update to version B180 because you will lose the ability to hide the navigation bar you need first to downgrade to B120 or B132 then update to version B150 as a maximum update if it exists for your region. So far i can confirm it works if you update up to version B150. I thought you can update to version B170 but it seems you lose the ability even if you update to it. I am on B150 and i can hide the bar.

Sorry to hear that, I can confirm that it works if you update to B150 which i am on now because there is no version B170 for my region so i can't confirm if it works on version B170 but i heard from some users it should work on it.
Any way my theory is this, you can update to at least 1 version from the base firmware in my case my base firmware is version B120 and the following update to it is version B150. In your case i think it is just version B132.
Me: B120->B150->B180
You: B120->B132->B170->B180
With my Rom you can hide the bar whenever you want ..
can anyone give a link where I can download vB132, because I have the same thing happen to my phone. please anyone.

There is no link for version B132 (UL00 model), there is another thread for p8 roms that lists version B132 but that firmware is broken you can't unzip it once you download it. Best thing is to download from huawei support page version B120 and then update it to version B132 which will be a small update.
Blackball, probably you have P8 lite version, on normal P8 there is no such option..
Guys, if you want the latest update and don't want to unlock your bootloader and root. Then use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.immersive&hl=en
the paid version will remove the red line.
1. If you are rooted use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys&hl=en.
2. If you are rooted and don't want to use navigation controls instead geastures use:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo&hl=en you can also edit the build.prop to remove the navigation bar and then use this app instead.(That's what i was doing in my old phone, i intend to do it later on. I always hated the the physical keys and soft keys instead gestures should be the way to navigate)
hi,
I use the immersive mode, the only possibility i have found to hide navbar, i'd like to root my phone but Huawei didn't send me the bootloader code , i waiting since 2 week and nothing (5 mails), so i look for another solution but few people seem interested by P8 phone.
If you know a solution to root my phone i take it ....
Thanks for your time and your efforts

If you root(unlock bootloader) you lose your warranty i don't think it is worth it at least for now since it's new, i personally haven't rooted yet and i don't intend to for now. Any way you can try to login to Huawei unlock page using the Facebook account login(the only working method) and get the unlock code online. If you can't send me a private message of your phone details and i will send you the unlock code.

There is 2 possible reasons i can think of for why you are getting the fail message:
1. The recovery isn't stock meaning you are using a custom recovery like (TWRP) and in this case you have to go back to stock recovery, but from your statement it seems you didn't unlock your bootloader yet.
2. You are using the wrong firmware with the wrong region to downgrade to. Make sure that the 3 letters behind the firmware version is the same as the one your native stock rom.
Example: my build number is : GRA-UL00V100R001C470B180
to downgrade i need to use the build number that has the same underlined letter and numbers(C470) so the build number i should use should be GRA-UL00V100R001C470B132 and not for example GRA-UL00V100R001C10B132.
I hope this helps, other than that i am not sure why you are getting the fail message. if non of these suggestions help try to downgrade to another version (either B120 or B132 depending on your region) or download another link of the same firmware i suggest you download it from Huawei support page for your region.

Huawei ALE-L21C432B600 can't update to newer version

So after i've got this security update the local update option gone.Second sim card stooped functioned.
I downloaded the newest update the 608 and put it both as update.zip in DLOAD file and in root. After this I tried with volume + - and power button doing the updaten it reached 4% and after that said update failed. Also I tried dialing the hidden menu. Got in there and pushed the system upgrade from SDcard. The message says no update found. Somebody who knows the solution help!!!

You have 2 update zip, try the one that doesn't have inside the patch folder.
Must only have the update.app file
.
I only got to B601 - I don't think there is a newer version and for the custom ROMs, you don't need it.
Resurrection Remix (which has LineageOS features and more) Nougat is working perfectly for me on B601.
Back up your /system and just give it a shot with B600 - it'll probably work.

Seems to me like you have the stock recovery. Your problem looks like the perfect opportunity to start playing around with some custom roms.
If I were you I would
- unlock the bootloader
- install TWRP 3.1.1.
- install a custom rom
There are plenty of ROMs available, based on Android 5, 6, 7 or Stock . If you want to keep your overall P8 lite "look and feel" and use the dual sim feature best would be
(of course in my opinion, other may think different) the C432B608 DS P8 Lite EMUI Basic from this thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-c432b604-ds-p8-lite-emui-basic-t3652417
Be sure to save your data first, because this will lead to a complete wipe and facttory reset of your phone.

Question Hotspot problem, internet not available on Android 13

Has anyone had problems with your phone's hotspot after updating to Android 13 on ZenFone 8?
I also did a factory reset, but it didn't help.
The signal is very weak and even if you connect another device, this then can not navigate because it is internet not available.
Back to Android 12 the problem disappears.
Did you have the same problem and how did you solve it? Thank you.

I just updated to Android 13 on my Zenfone 8 today, and the hotspot settings just disappeared (at least if I navigate through the settings). If i search all settings, I can find them, but trying to turn it on does nothing.
I wonder if this is an Asus problem or an AT&T (my carrier) problem.

I did all the tests, even the hard reset, nothing to do. I also tried to change mobile operator sim. It's just a bug in Android 13.
I asked Asus support, but they didn't give any answer.
Downgraded to Android 12 and that's the only way it works.

Oh, and also it's now taking about 7 minutes to register on the at&t network (as opposed to instantly in Android 12). How could they possibly have let this release into the wild?

Write to Asus support, you can find it on the official page. If you have registered your product, put all the data related to model and serial, only then they will move to find a solution to this bug.
For downgrade, you will always find in the support page for your model the firmware to download. Once downloaded, enter it in the internal folder of the phone and you will see that the update notification appears above.
Click and install. Obviously you lose all the data, because it resets to the factory state.

Thanks for the info. It wasn't obvious to me about the phone resetting - for all i knew, Asus might have an intelligent downgrade process that preserved the user data. Too bad they don't.

I also had this issue of the hotspot function disappearing after the Android 13 update. I followed the step to downgrade to 12. This worked, but before I could finish setting up my phone again, it was already automatically updating to 13. I reinstalled 12, and waited to connect to wi-fi to get things restored. Shortly after connecting to wi-fi again, the 13 update started again. I paused the update and then enabled developer options and disabled automatic system updates there, but I am not able to disable auto-updates in the regular system update settings. Is root required to disable this menu option? I have not rooted my phone and would prefer not to, if possible. Any suggestions?
Edit: So far, the phone hasn't resumed the auto-update overnight or following a couple restarts of the phone. The notification remains and I occasionally get prompts to continue the paused update, but I am able to ignore them. I guess I can live with it as is, but if anybody has any other ideas, please share. Thanks.
Edit: Today, I woke to find that the 13 update has downloaded and will install on reboot. I rebooted and let it complete the update to 13. Then, I downgraded to 12 once again. This time around, the option to disallow automatic updates was not greyed-out in system update settings. I disallowed auto-updates. The notification saying the update to 13 is available remained, this time, I was able to dismiss it. I don't know what to think about the previous issues I had, but it seems to have resolved it now.

I didn't see the Andorid 13 update even before the downgrade, I searched for it and installed it if I wanted it.
Adding to my posts above from February 18:
I was able to remain on Android 12, retaining the Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, until this morning. I awoke to find a software update notification message, giving two options: update or later. The message also stated that if I pressed later, it would continue with the update in 30 minutes. I rebooted the phone, and the update notification returned, however, lacking the 30 minute warning. A short while later, the phone began to automatically download the update, despite the option in settings disallowing auto-updates being ticked. I force-stopped the system update app, and it stopped downloading the new update. After a short while, it completed the android 13 system update download anyway. I decided to give the 13 update a try again, seeing that there was a smaller update added to the Asus Bios and Firmware download page on March 16th. I proactively backed up my data, knowing that I would likely need to downgrade to 12 again shortly to regain hotspot functionality. I rebooted to apply the base 13 update; no hotspot functionality, as expected. I then downloaded and applied the March 16th (WW-33.0210.0210.269) update OTA; still no hotspot functionality. I plan to downgrade again to Android 12, but I question how long I will be able to use it before another automatic update to 13 is forced upon me by Asus. Does anyone have any advice as to how to activate the hotspot on 13 or a way to guarantee that 12 will not be auto-updated to 13?
Edit: For anyone who might be having the same issue, here is what I have tried and so far, seems to be working. After downgrading to 12, I did not connect to internet during the initial phone setup process. When I did, the phone would already start automatically downloading the 13 update even before the setup process was finished. After setup, I immediately disabled automatic updates both in the regular system settings and in developer options (after enabling these, of course). I find it interesting that before, even with these two settings to disallow automatic updates in use, the automatic update would begin. The only other step I took this time was to disable my system app for system updates per the following method. https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/
I understand that this method is likely used more for added bloatware than for system apps, and I questioned at first if it would even work for a system app. Still, after disabling the system update app, it shows "disabled" under its entry in the complete app list in settings, and the system update options in the settings menu are not visible anymore. The main "system" header in the settings menu does show a red dot with "1" indicating that there is something available within the submenu, but as stated there is nothing within pertaining to system updates since disabling the system update app. So far, there have been no other notifications for the 13 update as before. This system update app is easy to reenable, as shown in the link above, so if I want to download the system update later on, it is no problem. I will add to this post if this method fails, but so far, so good.
