Problems with using this phone on tmobile - T-Mobile LG G4

Just switched from verizon to tmobile. Thought I can just pop the sim in, adjust APN and be good to go but it didn't turn out that way. Two major issues: only getting 3g connection and unable to activate hotspot. Phone is not rooted but can root it easily. Are there stable fixes or should I just sale and get a tmobile phone? Thanks

There is a particular G4 model (H811) which has the highest compatibility with T-Mo US. So do you have that one, or something else? (eg the Verizon-specific model: VS986)
The H811 is 100% compatible with Tmo, the Verizon model is probably barely compatible. (Verizon's network was historically based on CDMA, and regular voice/SMS still travels on that network, unless you have VoLTE working on your device)
Also, you do not get hotspot capability on any T-Mobile plan. Currently I have 2 T-mo phones, my daily driver at the moment is still on Verizon. So I have a low-end SIM for T-Mobile (infamous online or Walmart $30/mo plan) which includes 5GB of monthly data but you cannot do tethering/hotspot with it.

[Q] Sim Unlocked At&t s5, will it work with Verizon's network?

I carrier unlocked my Galaxy S 5 and wanted to know if it would work on Verizon's network.
It might work on Wcdma, & Lte. Maybe other chime in.

I'd like to know as well.
Because I'm switching and my S5 is carrier unlocked.
When I put my VZW SIM (which works fine in an iphone 6) in the phone there is no indication of a problem, i.e. wrong sim, etc.
However the signal icon is generic and if I try to place a call it gives me that dreaded not registered on network pop up.
If I look in the properties on the phone the (VZW) number is displayed but it does not show as activated on network.
So my question is does the S5 (actually purchased at a Best Buy store as MetroPCS and unlocked to use on ATT) have the proper modem to work with VZW? If not I will need to sell it.
Interestingly enough I put the ATT SIM in the (VZW) iphone and it worked instantly. Placed calls, send SMS, and get LTE speeds with nothing to change whatsoever!
Here's a fairly good read on network bands and compatibility between carriers....
It should help.....g

Verizon MotoX 2014 on TMobile?

Has anybody tried to get a Verizon MotoX 2014 to work on TMobile?
I was in a store today and got an activated sim card to test in mine and nothing we did made it able to get ANY data at all.
I want to move to TMo eventually but I really don't want to buy a new phone.
Did you enable data roaming? I have a pure edition and data roaming has to be enabled to work with T-mobile. Probably the same with the Verizon variant.

Yes, it works. I had one and had 4g and LTE, sms/MMS, and tethering to work. BUTTTT, it's not ideal as it's missing one of the frequencies for either 4g or LTE (I forgot), so the signal is weaker than a Pure edition on t-mo.
You need to add all the proper APN information. You can find that if you search for "t-mobile apn"

LTE Issue

I found similar (sort of) issues, but not really any specific to mine so I apologize if this has been asked.
I have a t-mobile N6, the new unlimited plan, and previously had a G3. With my G3 I would always have LTE coverage from work to home (35 mile range) and honestly don't ever recall dropping out of LTE coverage on my commute, which was the reason I switched to tmo. I've had my Nexus since December 19th and countless times I find myself with an HSPA signal and not LTE, I've tried rebooting when it happens in areas I know have LTE, changed APNs, and anything else I can think of but nothing seems to solve it.
Am I the only one with this issue? would it be a SIM card issue? Eventually it finds it's way back to LTE but it's annoying and happens pretty often including on the way into work this morning when I took a call that was not in HDVoice due to me not being in LTE.
This is 100% stock 64 GB version and I have done nothing to it since the day I received it.
Check your apn again, make sure it's on fast.t-mobile.com ipv6 (if it was already on ipv6 set it to see ipv4 and see what happens) ensure that it's on 4g in cell settings and not global.
Get a sim card replacement. It doesn't hurt and is usually free of charge for existing customers. If they charge you, go somewhere else or ask someone else. Or if you can wait, call t mobile customer service and they'll ship one to you.
Update to latest android version with the newest radio.

Get used to it. I think it's because of nexus phones having generic radio firmware. The radio for the tmo variant vs att or any carrier is exactly the same. The g3 radio for the tmo variant is different than the sprint our att ect.... Our radios aren't optimized for individual networks. I don't have anything to support this theory. Just my 2 ¢.

Xperia Z3 D6603 Tmobile LTE keep dropping

I bought a D6603 unlocked online few months ago and was able to get on Tmobile LTE without issue till recently, where the LTE connection keeps on dropping and I have to download the internet setting everytime in order for me to get onto the network.
I have checked the APN setting and also obtained a new SIM card from Tmobile but the issue remains. Based on the Tmobile store associate Tmobile is currently making updates to their network and international devices might not be able to get on their network. Does anyone know if there's anyway around it in order to keep my device on their LTE network? Or force the phone to use only a certain band on the phone?

The same thing happens to me. I have switched to HSPA. It all started after 5.1.1 update

Mi 9 cant activate with LTE on AT&T network?

So I got a Chinese edition phone with band 2, 4, 5, 12, and 17 to fully support both TMobile and ATT network. The Global edition was missing band 17 for ATT so I didnt want to go that route. Been going back and forth with ATT a bit for the past few days since my device came in. The phone shows up and an "unknown device" on their network when we tried adding the IEMI. It will get UMTS (2g) and HSPA+ (3Gish/4G), but will not connect to any LTE or GSM. The phone supports GSM fine, so its strange that it wont do normal cellular connection over that, it will only do cellular over UMTS. The device wont detect as an LTE device and so the sim wont activate LTE on it.
Anyone else with ATT have this issue? And were you able to resolve it somehow?
Or those with TMobile in the US, are you able to activate the phone fine and get full coverage and LTE working?
I messed around with the connection settings in the *#*#4636#*#* menu. Only the "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS" and "LTE/TD-SCDMA/WCDMA" will work properly at all. Both options give me UMTS for cellular, and HSPA+ for data. Of the 4 APNs that ATT uses, only the "ATT Phone" will work at all. The standard LTE APN "NXTGENPHONE" will leave the phone with no data or cellular service. This is related to the phone not being detected as an LTE device and the SIM not activating as such.
I simply put my AT&T sim in my China version and it worked straightaway. I didn't have to do anything else.
I am on Cricket, which leases service from AT&T, so I should know if it works once it comes Tuesday.
Just for perspective, I got a EU version of the Mi 9. Popped in a T-Mobile sim and it worked out of the box. Try the other sim slot. Could be your sim card if not.
Try these codes in Dialer. See if that helps anything.
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*
I was just making an ATT account so no previous activations or sims. So that could be the issue. I will try activating a sim with an old phone and then move the sim over. Or since it is the same hardware as a Galaxy S10, ill see if I can find a store that will activate a sim with a floor model S10 and then let me swap the sim into my Mi 9
Straight talk (ATT sim) lte without issue. no programming necessary , I have the global model though

Where did you guys buy the China version from?
US mobile white SIM from starter kit (T-Mobile) works well with LTE on Chinese model of Mi 9. Black one (Verizon) technically works, registers in the network and enables data, but Verizon refuses the IMEI as non-certified brand of the phone. Trick with activation on the iphone first and switching to xiaomi did not work, service gets cut off, when trying to make a call, it keeps dropping. AT&T based: Cricket and Straight Talk work just fine too.

Thanks for the info.
I was wondering about Verizon, since it support some CDMA bands and support 2 out of 3 of the LTE bands they use (doesnt support B13). Unfortunately I never tried it myself since half the coverage near me uses the band this phone doesnt support on Verizon.
I went and got my ATT account updated to an old Nexus 6 IMEI number and it got LTE on the N6. I then took the sim and put it in my Mi 9 and now the Mi 9 has LTE. So for anyone just getting this phone, you must have an IMEI on your account that is recognized as an LTE phone. If you try to add the IMEI of the Mi9 it is not recognized by ATT and wont provision LTE.
IMEI spoofing does not work with Verizon, as they simply ban the device. They call it “non certified”. Bands are seem ok.

I been purchasing from liaow. Never ran across a issue with them
I've been having the same issue, with a recently-bought (last week arrived) Mi 9 Global on AT&T postpaid. LTE showed up and worked fine day one, now network speeds are dropped down to 3.5G speeds. Anyone else have success with getting LTE on a fresh SIM?
