size - Asus ZenWatch 3

Hey, gang -
Looking for a watch to replace my pebble steel. I have smaller wrists, but the pebble steel fits me fine. Wondering if there's anyone who's had both and can help me understand how the ZW3 compares to the steel.. don't want to get the ZW3 if it is going to be a monster on my wrist.
thanks!

Go to Best Buy store, they carry both the ZW3 and the Gear S3 and try them on.
The Gear S3 is physically and noticeably larger in all it's dimensions.
Be sure to take your Pebble Steel with you........................
Good luck, have a great day!

Oh that sucks! I guess it is so popular they cannot keep them in stock. All kidding aside, my fiance whom is a very tiny woman, has a ZW3 on her skinny wrist and she loves it! We both have one. We just wish they would HTFU with their AW2 update!

Went ahead and ordered one yesterday.. should get it tonight.. looking forward to something a little nicer than my Pebble Steel!

Gear and Google Glass anyone?

I've had a Gear since they came out. Got an invite for Glass yesterday and ordered it. Anyone using them together? Thoughts?
How do you mean used together? Can't they both only really be used with the phone?
(also, insanely jealous of you! )

Haha, I will be super geek no doubt. I think they can both connect to the phone at the same time. Will have to muster some confidence to wear them in public. I hear the Glass battery won't last long but didn't know if it killed the phone battery. Guess I will find this out in a few days.
I ordered my Glass yesterday. Its going to be delivered Tomorrow. My Glass is charcoal and my Gear is orange. I leave for Boot Camp in January so I don't have that much time with it. Guess i'll have to put them on a shelf for 15 weeks. Maybe I can make a promotional video for Google with the Army's permission. Would make an awesome first person commercial but I doubt that will happen.

Congrats on both accounts.... Proud Navy Dad here!
I ordered Shale (which is kind of a brown color). Status has changed to shipped so I think that means they will be here today. My kids are more excited than I am, and my 12 year old is already mocking me..
Anyway, I hear the notifications aren't great on glass right now, so I guess the Gear will continue to handle that, and I will do other stuff with glass.
On a different note, I've spent the last 3 weeks on the road and the Gear has become the perfect smartwatch. Turning it off at night I have been able to get 3-4 days on a charge so have left the charger behind on most trips.
Works fine. My phone battery is being smashed with all these Bluetooth gadgets!

I thought the price was pretty insane as well, until I got mine yesterday. Its unreal the technology they have created here and I'm sure the production QTY's are so low they really don't see any price breaks from the man. But I feel ya.

So my Glass came this morning and I've been wearing them all day. Very different than what I thought they would be. While the Gear and Pebble are pretty much notification machines, not so for Glass.
It's pretty interesting interacting with it and using some of the glassware.
I've already been through a mild headache and my eyes hurt.
So far the verdict is - I couldn't give up my Gear for anything day to day, while Glass may end up as more trouble than it's worth unless I'm travelling.
There is a lot of overlap between the two devices. I haven't done much with the camera on glass yet, and maybe that is the killer feature.
Yeah, glass won't be replacing my gear anytime soon

I got invite as well and I don't think I will drop 1500 for it. I just don't think it's worth it atm. Really want one though. If it's like $500 I don't even have to think about it.
Just gonna stay with gear for now.

You'd be one of less than 40k people in the world with one...
The killer feature of Glass is using voice actions for everything. Seeing the whole action build in front of your eye is pretty cool. Gotta think the Gear could get there too though.
I feel like there is much more utility to be had from the Gear (or Pebble for that matter) without the need to strap Glass to my face.
wow
wow you can actually buy a Glass now? that's pretty amazing. 1500 bucks though that is quite a price.
To be honest I think that you could do exactly the same functions with the gear as the Glass but then nobody would buy the glass so.. I'll just wait for a custom ROM for the gear. Heck i may even donate 15 bucks for itt haha.
Got my invite also but cost to high figured they would drop some by now. Sticking with the gear until price comes down on glass for sure.

Wireless charging solutions?

Has anyone seen any 3rd party solutions for this yet? Cases, etc?
I miss it to death, can't seem to forget how nice it was on the N5. Especially with the not-so-great battery life, would be really nice to be able to place it on a charging pad at work or home when not using it.
I'm considering switching to N6 just for this, even with the downside of not being able to fit it in my pants pocket... on that note btw, after playing with the N6 and Note4 at the store, the Moto X feels tiny in my hands now!!

One reviewer says that it works just fine with the X. You could probably also stick it behind the case back if you're willing to open it up.
Yep I ordered it yesterday. Will give it a try with a case this evening and post how well it works. Not sure I'm ready to take off the back just yet, ha.

Works quite well with the i-Blason case. I got that exact wireless charger insert, just fit it between case and the device. I also cut the top off the charger, otherwise it was sticking too far out into the "dimple" of the case.
I am not a big fan of cases and would like to eventually just stick this behind the back cover - anyone know if the back cover is tough to take off?
Anyone look into an internal mod yet? Anyone able to take the back off safely and put this inside?

Great looking watch.

I have had the Urbane for a week and I have had many people say that it is great looking watch.
Not that anybody should care but I fine the comments nice and I tend to agree.
Had Gear Live, Smartwatch 3 and now this device and it looks great (have stainless steel and black band)
Yup, it's a deceptively sexy device. Much better IRL than in pictures.
It's such a great looking watch, I saw one in person about an hour ago and just ordered one five minutes ago...lol, I even paid $4 for next day shipping from Amazon. SO EXCITED for this one (I am a watchaholic)
I don't agree with you. I think Moto 360 is much more stylish than LG Urbane watch. Both of these smart watches are circle but Moto 360 seems more stylish to me.

I think they both look good with a metal band, the Urbane looks much better with one...
moto 360? bulky, black bar, short battery life, i don't know why so many ppl like it... urbane is much better looking for sure.

Decided to get one

On sale (boxing week)
Only concerns are non-replaceable watch strap (they do wear out)
and buy now..... who knows the Google Watch maybe better.
..... there is always something better right around the corner.

I think I may do the same, whenever it wears out I just may go to Amazon, Best Buy, or Google and get something new.
Just got one the other day. Just do like me, get the one with the silicon band. It's probably the best band for this watch cause it's very sweat resistant (i used the watch in the gym ....)

Doh!! I didn't realize the strap was not replaceable. I couldn't imagine a watch being made like that. I wouldn't have bought one if I'd have done some research.

I was in touch with a reddit user, who was kind enough to share this with me:
https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=cWtpeTZWb0N6bUpYOWRXbHVqMkticDdjNnZUZGF3
he cut his own 46mm strap down with an x-Acto knife and used a 15mm pin.
I hope this helps

I suspect that 46mm is a typo. Was it a 22mm?

No it wasn't a typo, 22mm is probably the pin length not the strap length. 46mm straps will have the correct width you'd need to cut down, smaller straps likely won't fit the lugs very well and will probably just fall out.

Now I'm confused. 46mm is just under 2 inches. That can't be the length of the watchband as that would barely fit around my thumb. And it can't be the width as it would be more than twice as wide as the existing strap. What am I not understanding?
My bad.. Get a strap for a 46mm watch.
22-24mm should be the strap's width

Silver 41mm not a great looking watch for the price.

I'm not going to make a comment about performance, but as an owner of the Gear S2 Classic Platinum and the Gear S3 Classic, this watch looks cheaper in appearance. The turn bezel, to me in real life, looks like it belongs on a kids watch rather than a dress watch. I'm still not sure if I'll keep it for the functions, but right now I'm 50/50 on sending it back this week.
yes, the 41mm rotating bezel is plain where as for 45mm, it has got those grooves/gears around it. One of the reason i went with 45mm.
I've ordered the 41mm because the 45mm is like strapping an alarm clock to your wrist. Its here on Friday, fingers crossed I like it
May go for a Withings scanwatch if I don't like it.
The bezel on the 41mm version is more rounded and doesn't have the gripper teeth found on the 45mm version. I guess this is some sort of trade off to keep the screen bigger. I watched a few reviews and the silver 41mm always looked premium to me. As with all comments about design and colour, we have to factor in that not everyone's tastes are equal. For example I wouldn't be seen dead with the bronze version but many people (both male and female) seem to love it. Each to their own!
I am expecting my silver 45mm to be delivered today and will post my feeling about later. But I have no real doubts that I will love the watch.
.
I got my 45mm silver version delivered today. I have to say although it looks quite similar to my Galaxy Watch (1st gen) there are enough to differentiate them.
It looks great and I have ordered a tan coloured leather band which I think will really make this watch look even more premium.
It received a firmware upgrade, that now activates the SPO2 sensor and I was running the latest Tizen 5.5 on my original watch, everything looks pretty much the same, which is not a bad thing.
So to the OP, I believe your disappointment lays with the smaller version, I can see maybe how a smaller dial would give a less premium look. I hope you are happy with whatever you decide to do going forward though.

Glad you are liking the GW3. I had used black 42mm GW before and i got the mystic silver 45mm GW3 this time around. This looks totally a new watch to me because of the bigger brighter display and the silver color. I am liking it
I sent my 41mm Silver back and sold the Frontier I was going to trade in on the Bay for more than the Sammy trade in allowance. I've read that the 45mm is actually thinner than the 41. During Black Friday I'll go into a store with my trusted S3 and compare it side by side with the silver 45. Maybe I'll give the 45 a chance then.
Sending my 41mm back, Samsung can't tell me when ECG and BP monitoring will be available. I really like the watch, but I need these features and honestly think I'll get fed up charging every day.
Hey ho

The features you want are dependant on approval from public health bodies, not Samsung. So you can't blame them for not being able to give you an answer. But in my opinion the UK is likely to be on board quicker than a lot of other countries so my guess is this feature will be available soon.
As for charging, I get 2 days easily out of mine with normal use. Popping it on charge over night (or a quick top up in the morning if using sleep monitoring) really shouldn't be any trouble to you, with its magnetic charging pad it's no different to placing your watch on the bedside table or wherever you normally lay your watch when you take it off.
If you really like the watch like you say you do, then I think you are missing out here.
Just my opinion of course.
Good response... But...
• Samsung can't provide date when ECG/BP will be ready, Samsung support lied to me, Grrrr
• I have to charge daily 2-3h Grrrrr
• Eats battery on my oneplus phone, far too many Samsung services running.
• doesn't work with Strava
Withings scanwatch
Battery lasts 30 (THIRTY days)
ECG, heart monitoring & other stuff already approved
Got all workout activities I need
Only £279
Works with Strava
Looks great
For me, personally, it's a no brainer
Comparing with my old Huawei Watch 2 Classic, which had a much larger bezel, the GW3 does look more premium and modern. I might have done the bezel a little different on GW3, but ultimately I think the screen size-to-bezel ratio is about right (on the 45mm version).
As for battery, no issues. Although an hour of GPS & heart rate monitoring on a brisk walk drains the battery like no one's business (about 20% an hour, and that's without bluetooth tunes). But that seems to be pretty typical for any watch on GPS. GPS and heart rate appear to be very accurate, too, but some reviewers that are competitive marathoners have had a few minor issues. The 8(?) infra-red sensors means you don't have to tighten the watch until it cuts off circulation to get good readings.
