Honor Note 8 Stock ROM links - Huawei Honor Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi all,
I have downloaded the available Stock ROMs for the Honor 8 EDI-AL10 from Baidu links (if you want to know how I did this, see my post here) and thought I would make them readily available across the globe by adding them to androidfilehost.
Honor Note 8 Stock ROMs
I have currently uploaded B017 and B027 ROMs in their UPDATE.APP format.
If you wish to extract the .img files contained within, I would suggest using the Huawei Update Extractor tool.
Mike

how to use this to go back from emui 5 to 4.1

Hi Mike, thanks for all your awesome tutorials and links.
I can't find my way around Baidu - would there happen to be any updated Nougat-based stock ROMs available?

Hi! I had some problem with my unlocked and I accidentally wiped out a lot of stuff. I can still get in the modded recovery but I can't install anymore any packages since it always give "error 7" and partition seems to be ****ed-up.
Is there any way to install in fastboot a stock image of it?
Best regards

I was Creating Stock Rom Flashable zip and By Mistake i FLashed P7-L9 Rom .... Phone Booted Up Just Fine Except No Sdcard ... Is It okay for the rom to just work
EDIT : If i Flash Stock P7-L09 Rom it works but if i replace files in zip with p7-l10 rom it doesn't work any idea why this happens
I Tested P7-L07 Flashable Zip and It Works Great with P7-L10
It has Performance mode and auto hide nav bar and i removed set.immutable list from zip file also it is pre-rooted much fun :highfive:
Everyone should try This

Currently I am Trying Very Hard TO make It But I Fail Every Time .. I do Recommend installing the P7-L07 Version Given Above It Is The Same AS L10 Except for the Google Apps .. They Can Be Installed Via Google Installer... AlsoThe P7-L07 Version has performance Mode and Permissions Manager and is exceptionally Fast Then The P7-L10 Stock Rom so Yeah I Do Recommend P7-L07 Stock Twrp Rom FOR THE P7-L10 :victory:

This sounds like a good ROM. I was able to download a ROM called HRT_P7_L05L07_V2.0 from here: http://www.muzisoft.com/huawei/p7t/. I'm still playing with it. It seems to have stripped out a lot of the stock apps to free up storage.
Some tweaks have been added to the power off menu and there are some others too. They are all in Chinese so I'm a bit lost with them. Set_immutable has been set to 0 in the boot image so you can write to system the set_immutable.list file is still present. There's a new boot animation, platform.xml has been changed to allow apps to write to ext SD card. If you use google translate on the site you can see a list of the changes made.

I finally managed to download the ROM from Baidu. It took me more than 4 hours!!! I haven't tried it yet.
However, I've established an account with 4shared and have uploaded both ROMs to that site. I've never used 4share before so it's possible I've fouled up somewhere. If you strike problems, let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix things. These are the links:
https://www.4shared.com/zip/cpGySD9qce/HRT_P7_L05L07_V20.html
https://www.4shared.com/zip/KlUHlTVice/P7-L07-L05_B122_lishuo.html
I think either link will give you access to either file. Hopefully, this will help you and perhaps others as well.

I'm pleased you like the ROM but I've found the other is preferable. Mainly because the extra settings in the P7-L07-L05 ROM (under settings) are all in Chinese. I can't read them and have no idea what they do. Both ROMs have additional Chinese apps which need removing. I agree though, they both seem to be stable. One big advantage to the P7-L07-L05 ROM is that the set_immutable binary contained in the boot image has been set to 0 thus allowing system access. I expect this boot image could be used with other ROMs which would solve a few problems.
It seems that if ROMs designed for the L07 variant work on the L10 then any L10 custom ROMs that emerge will probably work on the L07. It's nice to have the flexibility.
The custom P7-L07 ROM that you found hasn't really added all that much. The rebooter App is useful but there are similar ones on the Play store. I think "Mi-POP" and "Clean Master" (the only English language ones) are both a waste of time. Especially the latter which gives the impression of doing a lot but in fact does little or nothing other than to encourage the end user to pay for an upgrade.
Still, both ROMs are fun to play with and if anyone is interested in building their own, they probably both provide a good basis for learning and further customisation.

If you want something clean like stock ROM , just wait for a ota update and its all. Nothing will be removed normally. I updated mine to 3.0 beta and any loss, and we don't know when will the stable be available( maybe this year but nothing sure).

No, you must atleast be on b170 with stock recovery to go to MM.. For this version, you must atleast be on Marshmallow..
You will lose your root, but you can flash it by twrp..

So, if I get all these right, for someone who is on an official build:
The user should be on B170 at least and update to MM, or have any official MM build.
If the phone is rooted, we must unistall superSU and replace TWRP with stock Recovery.
Then we can update and after this, we flash TWRP and Super SU.
Is this procedure correct?
For example, I am currently on B574 and rooted, I have to unistall SuperSU, flash stock recovery and update manually. Then, I'll have to flash TWRP again and SuperSU. Is it right?
Lastly, I would like to ask something about Stock Recovery. Is it the same on every build or it different depending on the build?
Thanks in Advnace.

OxygenOS Open Beta 24/15 for OnePlus 3/3T

Here is the change-log for the latest Open Beta build, we have bug fixes and a few changes for you to play with.
System:
Added "Soft" screen calibration
We’ve reverted the screen calibration and added the new calibration from last build as “soft.” You can enable the new calibration in the "display> screen" calibration section of settings
New boot animation
Optimized the clearing of recent apps
Other:
Updated Community app to V1.9.5
Minor bug fixes
Please note: We have patched the blueborne vulnerability independent of the Android security patch. Therefore, some blueborne vulnerability scanners may not recognize our independent patch.
Please make sure you take a bit of time to fill out our survey on UX & UI here:
https://goo.gl/forms/ET3E7TbllSksASKT2 .
And please remember to tell us about any bugs you may find using the bug report forums, found here. https://forums.oneplus.net/feedback/
Remember:
If you have already flashed an Open Beta (you are currently running the latest Open Beta) you will receive this new build as an OTA.
If you ARE NOT running open beta software and would like to, please refer to the flashing instructions and the full ROM found in the downloads page here: http://downloads.oneplus.net/
Once you migrate to the Beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs. You will NO LONGER receive the regular Official Stable OTAs.
Moving back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a full install and clean flash (FULL WIPE of all data and cache)
Edit: OTA mostly will not install. You have to install the full ROM of 1.5gb which works fine with most of the beta users.

Any idea if OpenKirin is coming to this tablet?

Anyone tried to install OpenKirin?
I'm assuming the images for M5s will not work here.
@OldDroid
 @XePeleato
 @surdu_petru
 @Bloodlvst
 @irony_delerium
Is there a change for the M5 Lite?
I would buy it, if you say that there will be a possibility in the future...
You support already devices with the Kirin 659.
What would happen if i try to install the rom on the device?
(Sry i don't use telegramm (XMPP/matrix...) )
Is the Sourcecode for the M5 Lite available?

It should work (looking it up says it's running EMUI 8) with the caveat that they're all phone-type builds - though that mostly ends up meaning they've got the phone app and such things included which are probably not useful on a tablet.

Thanks for the reply.
Too many Features are better then less Features, isn't it?^^^
Is there a possibillity to test OpenKirin and if it doesn't work set the tablet back to factory reset before sending it back to the merchant?

Make sure you've got a copy of the stock firmware beforehand; all of our ROMs are just the system partition, so if they don't work (or you don't like them), you can flash back the EMUI system partition from the stock firmware and be back on stock. Of course, you've got to unlock the bootloader to install them - and depending on where you're at, that may be reason to not accept the device as a return.

How can i copy it? I Thought you need at least twrp, which would delete the stock recovery?

Firmware finder website.
Instructions for all of it are on the OpenKirin website at https://www.openkirin.net/.
Also, stock recovery is actually preferred - TWRP has it's share of issues on Kirin devices, and we don't support the use of it with an OpenKirin ROM. So you'd want the stock images for that as well, for retrieving the stock recovery.
@irony_delerium I tried flashing OmniROM Pie Alpha 6.2 (for EMUI8) with the instructions posted @ https://openkirin.net/user_guide/how-to-flash-extracted-partition-images/
After flashing and formatting I am stuck on "Your device is booting now", but nothing happens even after +-10 mins
I also tried the last RR but same problem. Then tried flashing an older stock rom version (177) to see if I could get more success from there, but that also wouldn't boot.
Flashed back to my original stock rom version now (277), which works fine after formatting data.
I'm using a Mediapad M5 Lite BAH2-W19 8.0.0.227 (OCEC432)
Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
Since B218 there is no possibility to downgrade via DLOAD anymore. So the current situation is: No more custom ROMs for M5 lite.

I've installed it and using it since October and I can tell it's working very good. The only bug is the offline charge that doesn't work. You need to charge the tablet when is on. I recommend you to install it.
