Dirty Unicorns ROM discussion - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

I think that it would be useful to have a thread to discuss Dirty Unicorns ROM here at XDA forums.
I'm testing the current weekly at the moment, with stock kernel and can say it is very, very smooth. Really worth a try, believe me!

DU devs do not wish for their work to be posted on XDA...

Sorry, didn't know that.
Well, I guess the thread can be closed then.

Remove download link. Discussing should be fine as long as it doesn't end up in flaming devs. Not sure though. But remove link asap

Link removed.
Still enjoying this great ROM by the way!

How is the camera quality?

I don't use camera frequently, but a quick shot shows that it is good: not too much post-processing, good details.

Using du latest weekly with kronicCore kernel.......aswsum combo......should try........yes plzz dnt post du link......last tym when some user posted links, op3 rom got removd from du server........

Yep, I'm eager to see how this ROM will perform with Kronic Core, which is the best performer among all the kernels I tried so far.
But before that I want the ROM to settle a few days, so I'll be able to feel the difference with stock kernel, be it in positive or negative.
Have to say that so far Dirty Unicorns with stock kernel is the fastest ROM I tried,I'd say on par with AOSiP wich is unfortunately updated less regularly.

They want to support dev-base...

Well, I had a lurk at that site and immediately found this disclaimer: "Devs-Base is a new home for the Android custom development community built by developers for developers."
So, I guess it is no harm if we bring here a discussion between users.

Question: is there a way to see which applications start on boot, and disable some of them?
I see there's an App Ops setup item, but don't see the autostart property anywhere.
Second question: is there a "partial screenshot" feature buried somewhere?
Thanks!

Cheers for me, cos i posted dem links.
I was the sole reason who got op3 builds removed from DU server.
*hue*

Don't worry guys, the link has been in this thread just for a few hours, I removed it as soon as I've been notified, so don't see any problems here.

Hows the camera and battery life on DU tho? Is safetynet ok?

Use SuperSU 2.79 SR3 I had bootloops with Regular 2.79

I use Koush SuperUser, it has been more reliable than SuperSU in my personal experience.

[MOD] Smooth Scrolling Mod for Mahdi/CM11S/crDroid

Smooth Scrolling Mod
What Is it?
Some android applications have some lag when they scroll.
I found in logcat that garbage collector is working to much when I do some scroll in application.
I googled about it and found the 'scrollingcache' function inside android making problem.
Some application developers recommend disable 'scrollingcache' in app's internal config.
But not all applications have disabled scrollingcache.
So the mod I'll do will disable the scrollingcache throughout the Android OS.
All apps will have no problem with scrollingcache.
I've had scrolling improvements with facebook, playerpro, poweramp, gallery apps , etc.

If you want to request the mod for a ROM that is not officially supported. Use the following form,
ROM Name:
ROM Version:
ROM Release Date:
Attach (or upload) the framework.jar from that particular ROM (found in /system/framework):
I will do them when I get the chance. If these guidelines aren't met then I will just simply ignore the post because I cannot be doing a mod for a ROM that I don't know what version it is. The whole point of fulfilling request is not something just for yourself but for others as well. Nightly requests will not be fulfilled, it makes no sense for me to do a mod that will be only useful for one day and then have a request for the nightly that releases the next day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Give a thanks if you appreciate/enjoy the mod including those who provide me the file. It wouldn't be possible without them.
Would it be possible to do this for the PA ROM? Just asking. Great job! About time someone did it!

I actually did it awhile ago but didn't dedicate my own thread to it. I could, I don't use PA but how often does PA update their ROM? Just wondering, if its a nightly build kinda thing then that is going to become very excessive
I have to read up on your other thread I asked you about. remember your name from the Nexus days with your ROM
Edit: Looks like PA is weekly. Downloading the ROM to do the zip, I can't test the mod but it should work doing it blindly. I assume you wanted the smooth scrolling mod and not the 4G mod right?

Oh my lord. Amazing support, zephik. I downloaded and was just about to flash when I realized that the mod is for the PA 4.5 beta. Since there are still a few kinks in the beta, most people (including myself) are running the stable version 4.45 from 07/29.
Now, unsmooth scrolling is just about the only gripe I have with this ROM (or Android in general), so I'd REALLY love it if you could do the mod for 4.45 too. I realize that it's a lot to ask, and I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm throwing it out there anyway.
Cheers!

That is correct, this is only for the OPO. I can do Nexus 7 Mahdi port too but I want to keep my focus on the OPO since thats my daily phone and I don't own a N7. Don't get me wrong though, I can do it.
You can do it yourself if you know how to, the OP post contains the link how to do it yourself.

Yup. Googled his name and then boom. When I saw he updated XenonHD, I went on and download it instantly. xD Thanks mate! XenonHD plus your camera mods, I think I'll be staying on stock android longer now.
There is a significant difference in terms of speed between cc0705's versions and official ones. I don't know why official roms don't have this snappiness.
I've used both cc0705's RR and AICP unofficial and official builds. It's not about kernel since i did use custom kernel on official and unofficial builds.
I think our rom makers should see this as a "problem".
I am on Xenon last build ...
good rom, very fast only one problem ... substratum is preinstalled, but when i run it it wrote legacy mode ... so there is no oms support?
I notice that there is also the emotion rom. Someone has tried It?

Rock solid
Very smooth and snappy
Gapps and gcam included
Flashable OOS 6T camera works fine as well
Interesting, but no fingerprint scanner working I think.
Until then, I will stay on stock OOS.
- flash OOS stable
- flash TWRP
- reboot to recovery
- flash OOS stable once again
- flash TWRP
- reboot to recovery
- flash TreskMod
- flash TWRP
- format data (optional) and reboot
These are the flashing instructions from telegram channel. I had to format data (not wipe) to get it to boot.
Keep in mind that gapps are already included. I had to flash magisk afterwards though.

Thanks. Is it included in the latest build or is there a link?

If you're testing out a rom for someone, made an almost useless post to tell people you're testing it, the least you can do is not be a little b***h and answer the questions people ask about it. Jeez you're a d**k head.

AICP 16.1 (android 11)

Ive noticed this ROM doesn't seem to be listed on here anywhere but I've been running it for a few weeks now. The official build is on the AICP website with weekly updates that install perfectly through the built in updater. I hope the AICP team is okay with this post. If not, please remove.
It's not the most unique ROM out there but it is the best I've run out of every ROM I've tested on here, which is all of them. My first reaction to the pink background option for the daytime theme was "WTF" until I realized that it makes everything visible regardless of the level of sunlight or glare, and at the highest brightness puts no strain on the eyes.
Personally, I decided to switch kernels because the one built-in was geared towards battery life...like 36-48hr battery life, but otherwise this ROM is tough, reliable, the fingerprint sensor responds immediately, and everything works flawlessly. You can set separate themes for day and night, there's signature spoofing, a built in debloater to just click to remove any preinstalled package you don't need, and a selinux switch. Audio mods and magisk modules that have given me issues on all other roms work well on AICP. If you check the OnePlus 8 forums youll see the Thread for AICP there, and it will give you a fairly accurate idea of what to expect. The built in launcher is the best I've come across as well IMO.
For those who haven't tried it, check out Mull browser. It's a stripped version of Fennec with a great Sync feature and some good extensions. It's only available on Fdroid I believe. I was a dedicated Bromite user until I came across it about a week ago, and I never even liked Fennec...still don't.
Yes they started the update, but i don't know why they didn't inform about it in xda????

What kernel ?
I flashed this last week but I'm on Verizon and it has the RTT screen pop up when I make a call. If it wasn't for that it would be perfect. Hopefully someone can fix it.

You'll get an update every week, just look in aicp extras, go to updates, click download and install but don't reboot. Then go to magisk assuming you're using it and click install to other slot. After you see Magisk finish patching the new stock boot image you can go back to the update section and click restart. I turn all of my modules off before I update and turn them back on when I'm done I haven't had any issues. The only place I can find any support regarding this rom was by joining Discord. Join the Aicp channel. I switched to MCD Kernel because I wanted a bit more performance. The battery life with the included Kernel was more than I needed! This ROM comes with aicp recovery so on a first-time Flash be sure you refresh TWRP or whichever recovery you're using.

So I went and read through the RTT docs. One way to make sure RTT is disabled is to remove it from the carrier configuration, lol. So I went and did just that:
UPDATE: So, I found a better way to do this that doesn't break everything else. You can go to /data/user_de/0/com.android.phone/files and edit the carrierconfig file there, mine was called carrierconfig-com.android.carrierconfig-89148000001882338238-1839.xml. Change the following line:
<boolean name="rtt_supported_bool" value="true"/>
becomes
<boolean name="rtt_supported_bool" value="false"/>
And reboot! After that, RTT shouldn't be a bother anymore. This is a bit of a hack, but it works! XD

Thank you, AluminumTank! This edit works. It works on Lineage OS, Fork Lineage OS and should work here!

Oh?! I used root explorer, then clicked on "R/W", then made the edit, saved. Root explorer then told me that it saved the original under a different extension. I can see the two files. Then, I rebooted and it stuck.

I just reflashed this ROM again and made the edit just as you described with root explorer which is exactly what I did in lineage but the RTT window still pops up.
