I recently bought an adapter from ebay named "ADAPTATEUR USB Type-C vers Jack Audio 3.5mm Blanc pour HTC Bolt". When i plug it in the device shows and error code saying something like "This is not compatible with your device" Can anyone confirm that the adapter for Moto Z also works on HTC 10 Evo?
Thanks.

I ordered this one today (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-Type-C-to-3-5mm-Jack-Adapter-Headphone-Earphone-Female-AUX-Cable-USB-C-Type/32752436284.html), specifically says works with HTC10 Evo/Bolt! Will let you know once I get it delivered!
Just got it and it doesn't work. Something like "device not supported blah blah blah". Ordered another one from Amazon, hope it'll come faster and will actually work! Very annoying...

I've discovered another type C 3.5mm adaptor which doesn't work https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCR9P3X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So be aware, folks! I wonder if anyone found the working aftermarket solution? I still don't want to spend almost 20 bucks for tiny piece of cable (I mean ordering directly from HTC), that's insane!

I purchased one from "mumbi" which arrived today and it isn't working either. Also getting that popup telling me it isn't compatible.
I'd be willing to pay 20 bucks for a working one but the HTC website doesn't even list an official adapter.
Is an Adapter for a different HTC phone working on this one?

Htc does have one listed on the website, its $11.99 + shipping. Just wondering if somebody have tried the ones suggested by @balla241

yes :good:

http://www.htc.com/us/accessories-b/#!pid=htc-bolt&acc=usb-c-digital-to-3-5mm

i had the same issue. my dad bought an adapter and it straight-up refuses to work for me. does anybody know of any fixes? the headphones that came with the bolt actually ended up breaking on me.

Try using the app ( soundabout) from playstore in connection with the adapter. Set media audio to plugged in headphones and any adapter should work.
Using a moto z force 2 adapter with my bolt and it works fine only with this setup. Otherwise it says incompatible adapter and no audio to the 3.5mm jack

Any success with a 3rd party adapter? Maybe if someone could disassemble one?

Why can't you buy a usb cable

Does anyone know if you can get a seperate usb cable for the streak yet?
I want a spare one so i can keep it in the car, or a longer one because i find the one that comes with the streak to be too short.
Anyway if anyone knows where to get one then could they let me know
Just had a thought while typing.. just buy a usb extension lead...off to buy one to see if it works.
yes Dell sell them on their website mate
Another option is a USB extention cable. I got a 6FT for like $10 at RadioShack. Works great for me, you can also buy the Dell car kit that will work as a backup USB cable.
Is there a way to buy a compatible one?
I live in italy and we can order only from dell.it that obviusly hasn't streak and accessories in their site....

Well it has recently been confirmed that the streaks connection port is a PDMI connection. The Slacker G2 radio also uses a PDMI but no one has tried its cable yet. Specs are one thing but fitting is another. (Think of it how the first iPhone had a 3.5mm headset jack but you had to buy the apple headphones that didn't an elbow and were narrow enough to fit in there.)
So if anybody has, or knows someone that has a Slacker G2, feel free to try the cable out and tell us all
Source:
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/dell-streaks-proprietary-connector-is-actually-pdmi.html
Images that I can find for the slacker 2 radio charging lead seem to show a standard mini usb connector. Maybe the pdmi connector is data only?
can u use the ones on ebay?
Now i ordered another one from Dell site....
With only one cable, I finally ran out of patience and also constant carrying existing cable from place to place everytime I moved around.....
I have to have one near my bed for reading/charging thru the night....one in the car - which I will carry around to office as well...in the coming months hopefully the price will drop or there will be another source - till then this will do.

Problems with TV-out 3.5mm to RCA

Hi!
I just bought my 3.5mm to RCA cable to try the Tv-out feature. So I plugged the cable to my tv(double check on the colors) and 3.5mm audio jack to my phone. Then I went to Sound and Display>Tv out and checked Tv-out to green. I'm pretty sure my country's norm is Ntsc (anyway, I tried Ntsc and Pal in case I was wrong).
I tested on one TV but nothing happend then I went to another one were the screen started to display some withish lines with a lot of noise(sound). I tried to watch some videos(HD and from lower resolution) but nothing happend except that I could barely hear the sound of video mixed with noise. Same when reproducing music.
Both TVs aren't HD, they're regular TVs were I usually play PS2.
Do I need a HDTV to use this feature or am I doing something wrong? Maybe the cable is not working properly? (It's new)
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

This is correct. I have a Nokia cable and it works perfectly.
Samsung have reversed the 3rd and 4th bands on the 3.5mm jack, meaning that video out and microphones on headsets don't work with the industry standard accessories. Nokia have luckily followed the same [lack of] logic, and so their accessories are compatible.
The cable I have is the CA-75U and I got it on eBay for a couple of pounds.
I have 2 cable both came with portable dvd players the one from LG works but the one from sonys dosnt.
got one CA-75U off ebay for $3 shipping included
Cant get it to work

Good afternoon, everybody. I can not find the problem, on the Russian Forums Help is not found. (I am from Moscow). such a problem-acquired mhl-hdmi adapter. connecting entirely in accordance with the instructions is nothing happens. no pop-up window on the connected hdmi no display on the screen. the problem is clearly not in the adapter. I believe that I have something extra frozen / deleted. please if someone knows tell me what process / system file is responsible for displaying the image on the hdmi.thank you all in advance. and please do not delete the question if he is in the wrong section. move to the desired section please.
Make sure you are using 11pin (not 5 pin) adapter. Can you check adapter with another Note 2 to make sure that adapter is ok?

you can also test the adapter with a Galaxy S3, and probably S4. I don't believe the S4 changed anything in the HML or USB port, so it's very likely the same as GN2 and S3.
Also, if you are using a HML adapter, make sure it has enough power. Not all adapters pulled enough power from the phone, so you will need an external power source. Most just use the USB cable and charger that come with the phone.

unfortunately I have not the opportunity to try something different to what note2 or s3. if I had the chance I would not have asked for help. I just ask somebody to check on his device and see what process start when adapter connect to the phone and tv. sorry for any mistakes
the idea was to confirm that your GN2 wasn't working correct, and it wasn't the adapter. If the adpater worked, then it's the phone. If not, the it may be the adapter.
Depending on your adapter, it's possible there may not be enough power, thus, it's possible the HML isn't registering. I'm assuming you're not using some one directional HDMI cable.
I use an adapter as well. I needed a 5pin to 11pin adapter. I have to use the phone charger to power the adapter. The above video shows the setup and it working.
Maybe you can let someone at the store where you got the phone to test another phone with the adapter or an adapter with your phone. Hopefully they have TV with HDMI to test with. Maybe try an electronics store.

By the way today went to the office store Samsung - I have the original cable. It turns out that the case in my phone. Charging and tried to 1A and 1.5A - no way. I really hope that everything will turn out tomorrow. Thanks for the video
By the way your adapter is not like mine. Apparently, in different regions of different designs.

It's don't work It is a pity. Don't know what's next search. What's the problem
the adapter I have is a generic one I got from Monoprice; they're a company that sells cheaper electronic, which is usually made in China. Thus, it is not the official sumsung one.
it looks like you're still in the situation where you don't know if it is your phone or the MHL adapter where the problem lies. I would consider going to an electronics store that sells TVs, phones, video games, and so forth; whatever is the similar to Best Buy in the USA. I don't know the stores that would be in Moscow. Bring your phone and adapter and see if they will let you hook up to one of their TVs. Also, see if they will let you test out another adapter, maybe one that they sell. And maybe they can let you test Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 or Note 2 with your adapter.
I think it may be the easiest way to figure it out based on your don't know anyone locally with any of the Samsung phones list above. There's just too many variables right now to effectively to say one way or the other.
thank you very much for the advice. yesterday went to the official store samsung. asked to check but no one helped me. so I will look for original cable and test all over again. today tried my cable on another galaxy note 2. no reaction. even tried to connect another cable hdmi, the more expensive and high quality. It seems the problem is still in the adapter.

not aware of the USB debugging should be enabled or not? and then perhaps because of this problem?
that should not effect the HDMI/HML. Mine is always enableed, but only triggers when connected to a PC. Most likely, the HML uses more pins than the USB for a PC, which is why it doesn't trigger.

MHL 3.0 Adapter...

I have been scouring the web & even overseas manufacturers looking for anyone that can provide a MHL 3.0 Adapter. Has anyone seen one on the market yet? Some of the overseas sites are poorly worded, MHL 3.0 USB, but upon further investigation, all have been MHL 2.0 with support for USB 3.0.
If anyone has a source for these, in either single unit or batch lots for resale, please let me know.

NO> Any that aupprts the 5-pin should work fine. It is just that 2.0 & 3.0 don't need external power, if supported by the device, & 3.0 has greater speed & bandwidth capabilities. 4K video & 7.1 surround sound (L-PCM) support.

Except that one states in big red letter that external power is REQUIRED. WHich would make it MHL 1.0. It also states 1080p, again MHL 3.0 supports 4k video. Most of the MHL 2.0 devices also support at least USB 3.0, that one supports USB 2.0, which again supports it being an MHL 1.0 device.
That's the thing, I have found a few that claim to be MHL 3, but none of them seem to pan out to actually be MHL 3.0. Most of the time when you contact to call them on it, or inquire, you get zero response. Ebay is pretty notorious for knock offs too, like the 128Gb & even 64Gb UH1 Micro SD cards.
So there is no mhl 3.0 5pin out there adapter yet.
Which 2.0 5 pin adapter should I be
buying for the HTC One m8?

Good question. I am researching that now. I find it hard to believe that a year old standard still isn't supported by accessory manufacturers, even though it is by the device manufacturers.

It might be a year old standard, but devices/phones supporting it are only just now being released. So, accessory manufacturers have had no reason to manufacture any adapters until now. Hopefully it won't be too long until we start seeing some now that there are some devices that can take advantage of it.

For what its worth the one I bought I have to plug things in in a specific order or it won't work. I believe it is power, then HDMI, then MHL into M8. I have to do this each time, if I unplug it from the phone and just plug it back in it won't work until I unplug everything and reconnect in that order.

Can someone give me some tips, please? I am getting desperate
Did you ever get this figured out? I just used mhl for the first time on my m8. I used the same cable I did for my m7. It's a
Skiva 6.5 feet MHL (Micro USB) to male HDMI cable. I had trouble at first but here's how I got it to work flawlessly: first I plugged everything in, no particular order... Next I plugged in the micro usb part to my m8 while the tv input was still on my normal everyday input... I waited until my red charging light turned on my m8 then I switched to the correct tv input. My m8 went into mhl mode and I streamed a movie perfectly.
I tried switching the tv input first then plugging in my phone and it wouldn't work. But, when I left it on my normal input, then plugged my phone in and saw it was charging, then changed inputs.... Success!
Thanks, I will try if that works. But I've got little hopes, to be honest

Only $15
You need to stick to something with the AX88772 chipset. The AX88178 might work - mixed danswers around the web on that one. Definately don't get anything with the SMSC LAN7500 chipset either. Stay far away from the AX88179. I bought a StarTech with that chipset and it did not work in any Android device I have.
Finally I bought the one Asus makes one for $19.99 on Amazon - has the AX88772 and works just fine (the Asus connect dock for the TF201/300/700's has that chip in it too so I knew it would work - took mine apart to find out what was in it).
Sleeepy2 - Is that adapter USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ?
The reason that I asked - on monoprice.com written USB 3.0 and the the color of socket - really blue.
But on ebay from the same seller USB 2.0. From Amazon - BobjGear-Ethernet - USB 2.0
Cadstar - Same things, I bought from Gigabit usb 3.0 - chipset AX88179 - working with Win 7..8 and linux , but not android and Asus tf701
Not really sure, any idea how I can check?
1. The type A connection (the "standard" USB connection that plugs into your computer), should be blue, like: media.bestofmicro.com/USB3-SuperSpeed-external-storage,4-B-252875-13.jpg
2. Speed. You really can feel it if you copy few giga via cable.
Well it is blue and it seems fast. The sticker on it also says USB 3 so I will go with yes it is
Thanks, I intend to buy.
Maybe someone will be useful.
My old Trendnet TU2-ET100 h/w: 3.0 (AX88772 chipset) works great in our device!
Speed Ethernet even slightly higher than over WiFi
