Google Assistant and Lockscreen - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before the update when I had Google now, I was able to use voice commands for non sensitive information from the lock screen or screen off. Now with Google assistant it pulls up the lock screen code for me to type in. Is there a way to fix this? If not, how can I revert back?

Use Smart Lock.

Smart Lock? Nexus 6 doesn't have voice unlock. Only face, place, and Bluetooth.

[Q] S4 Active Missing Lock Screen Widget Features

The Lock screen widgets are missing many features comparing to S4. Anyone complaining or is it just me? My "Favorite apps or Camera" is grey out.
This is all I got in the setting. Everything else is missing.

You need to disable the security to use those functions - turn off pattern, pin, password, whatever, and set it to "Swipe". Then you can use lock screen widgets.
Got my own answer
This feature is disabled if I use the pattern lock. Sucks.

After activating the lock screen widgets you can then reactivate security code or pattern. To use them you have to wake the screen *Before* it auto-locks. Once it locks itself, you have to unlock it per usual. So you get your choice between security and convenience.

Or you can use a third party lockscreen like I do - Widget Locker gives you both security AND convenience, by layering on top of the secure lockscreen. If I click on of the widgets, I'm brought to the lockscreen to unlock to use it - except for the camera which is usable without unlocking.
When I updated my s4 active to 4.4 I no longer see the Samsung music widget on the list of lock screen widgets, just watch on, calendar, s health and a few other apps but not the music widget. Anybody having this problem or know of a fix

Clarification about the Smart Lock feature

Hello everyone!
Since the release of the Lollipop upgrade and the introduction of the Smart Lock feature, I've been regularly coming across with posts like these:
Smart lock doesn't work, it keeps asking for my finger print to unlock
Click to collapse
Its not working for me, when I wake up my phone, I have to swipe up to access my pin entry screen
Click to collapse
So I decided to create this thread in order to clarify how the lockscreen works when Smart Lock is enabled and a trusted device is connected.
Swiping from the little lock icon on the bottom of the screen, brings back your specified secure lockscreen. It is a way to secure your phone again, even if a trusted device or other set conditions for Smart Lock are met.
Swiping from anywhere else on the screen should unlock the phone without any security checks.
Check out this video I made to explain it a bit better:
Some people may think this is not an intuitive way, however, I personally find it quite useful to have the option to quickly secure my lockscreen without disconnecting a trusted device.
In any case, swiping from a starting point anywhere other than the small lock icon, will unlock the phone without any security checks.
I hope I helped.
Cheers!

Google search update broke moto voice unlock

About a couple of months ago, I updated Google search, and it broke the ability of moto voice unlocking the screen
I am using pattern lock. Before certain commands allowed moto voice to open Google search even when the screen lock was on. For instance asking for weather would open the weather but you couldn't do anything else.
Now, with voice commands when locked, the screen turns on, it does the transcription and I hear the beep of Google search working in the background but the screen remains locked with the pattern displayed.
Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?
I'm on kitkat with the T-Mobile version. Bootloader unlocked through tmo and rooted. I have xposed with only one module that adds more buttons to the status bar
Thanks

Google assistant unlock from lock screen

Possible to use google assistant to unlock from lock screen?

How can we use "ok google" with screen off? Or start the assistant from lock screen?

I cant seem to use the google assistant from lock screen, it asks me to unlock. Surely some basics actions should be possible from the lock screen like skipping songs, asking the weather etc.
