Best OS for our devices - Huawei P9 Lite Guides, News, & Discussion

This is purely based on my experience and opinion. I have used every single rom for our device from xda. The rom that adore most is the huawei noughat emui b336. pure speed and optimised battry life is wonderfull a device working eith every functionality is what you get. when comparing with cm13 and 14 builds its much more stable and reliable. i was on oem c636 flashed c432 europe and flashed noughat from meticulus twrp emui4.1.

Cool. Though at this point one might aswell just wait for OTA nougat

I don't dare to install Lineage or Cm13 because I want a stable phone. I previously asked in another thread which problems the Lineage OS has. I could not find the Log File of Meticulus which shows the problems. Maybe someone can tell some problems of lineage os so the decision of installing it would be easier. Thanks a lot.

I tried Lineage and had a bootloop because of substratum themes...after that i flashed RR build and i`m very happy with it. The battery life is not extraordinary...5h SOT. For my needs it`s very good...no big bugs or something like this...
Again for my needs I can say that it`s pretty stable...

At the moment, stock is best. EMUI4.1 at that. Give it another 2 months or so, by then we should have stable custom roms, that being said, try the Paranoid Android ROM, it's good but has some bugs with dual SIM unless otherwise stated by the developer in the thread.

that would be awesome, but i think custom roms won't be much more stable unless huawei releases their source code

At this point , stock rom is the best. Unfortunately because Huawei has not released and i do belive will not realease the sources for this model , all custom roms based all on Lineage OS or AOSPA will have bugs and high battery usage, without hope of real solving...because the code is always changing and as some problems are apparently solved other will rise up.

Most stable custom rom

I'm flashing rom for the first time I have unlocked the bootloader my device is rooted.
I have been reading posts
RR seems the most stable with oos cam included and it doesn't have pocket mode which can lead to faster battery drain.
So can you guys suggest me any rom which is as stable as oos and good camera quality (not working of camera, quality of the picture processed)
May this thread helps others too :fingers-crossed:
Thanks
Nothing has camera as good as stock, so if camera is important to you, stick with stock based ROMs (official OOS, FreedomOS, OP3Lite ...)
That port that is available for RR still has some issues.
Maybe try Paranoid Android, it may have some magic that other ROMs don't due to developers involved. It's supposed to have camera on pair with OOS, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't confirm (and for some reason people don't really talk much about PA). It has all other features of OOS.
But I'd suggest sticking with OOS based ROMs until OnePlus releases camera sources.

If the camera is a non issue than Slim Roms is the best. Fast not cluttered with useless features. But honestly OnePlus has it down with 3.2.7. had my doubts but the have created a ROM that is up there with P.A and Slim.
For me nucleaRom is the best and bug free ROM and you will have the OOS camera

I think the developer has stopped the development for this rom
Resurrection Remix Black Jubel is very stable in my opinion......and it has tons of customization and Accepts the OOS Camera Port so you can get identical Camera quality to stock.

I'm using FreedomOS with blu_spark kernel at the moment, but I'll probably try Paranoid over coming weekend.
To be honest, OOS is actually a pretty good ROM. With Xposed framework it has everything I need.

Hmm...yes 3.2.7 is nice but you can't really compare it to custom ROMs. It's great for its intended purpose (stability and compatibility) but it doesn't have the customization that custom ROMs have...obviously. It depends on what is most important to you.
I'm using OOS 3.2.6 with latest blu spark kernel and I'm getting really good screen on times, like 10-15℅ drain per hour. I also have Xposed installed but I'm only using greenify with it. Imho OOS is just as good as any other ROM, and I have just about tried every other ROM and kernel combination with the exception of the new nougat releases. There are only a few extra options available in the custom ROMs in comparison to OOS and they are mostly cosmetic. I reckon wait till some stable nougat builds have been released and then we might see some improvements. There is also no need to even install freedomOS or OSlite because you can debloat the ROM yourself and learn something while you are at it. Just go to the OSlite page and check the debloat list and then remove the stuff yourself with Titanium Backup. For me it's more fun when I have tweaked the ROM myself, and I guess for others also otherwise we wouldn't even have so many custom ROMs. I have researched the living bejesus out of this phone and I am happy to share my accumulated knowledge with anyone that needs help.
Hi all,
Is there any custom ROM with pocket mode.? I have tried cm13 and RR, but no pocket mode

Paranoid rom has pocket mode I guess..
I haven't tried the rom but I have seen a tutorial on YouTube
I suggest you try h2os v2.0 5th edition. It has the best battery life, even better than pa rom. I still have 93% of battery after browsing the web using wifi for more than 1 hour. It is very smooth as well during gaming, no lags at all.

z3+ was forgotten?

Not really forgotten, it only takes really quite a lot time to fix issues, do development work on specific ROM (or kernel) versions when switching between ROMs / Android versions
and there's also real life.
There are certainly more developers needed for the Z5, Z4/Z3+
I hope that almost a rom with oreo could be released soon, otherwise I will need to buy a new device

What is it of Oreo that you need so badly ?
Isn't any of the Nougat based ROMs working well enough ?
I miss Dirty Unicorns and PureX =/
I currently use XenonHD 8.0 in my ZL is so pretty

[Question] ¿The best nougat stock/debloated/light rom?

EDIT: Sorry, wrong subforum, I meant to post this on the Redmi4x / Santoni subforum.
Greetings, I think this is my first post here (sorry, I'm still practicing my english and this post may have horrible mistakes).
Currently I'm using the latest version of MIUI (9.x I think), but as much as I love this phone I've always been in love with the performance and customization... and this phone has a hell of a bloatware.
I'm aware of the latest Oreo roms and I know recently Xiaomi has released the source code for the santoni phone but still no rom is perfect, specially the Oreo ones, so I'm looking for the closest aosp/stock experience I can get with full compatibility, I think a nougat based rom will do fine but wich one?
I'm planning to install a rom, install greenify, have a good battery life, have more free space and still have full camera, gps and other compatibility with no issues.
Wich rom could you recommend me?
Thanks in advance.

Aex official Oreo or pixel experience
Mi-Globe MIUI based on the latest official or developer release. Can be customised to your needs.
Working beautifully and you can remove all the leftover MI crap with system app remover, free from the store.
None of the 3rd party ROMs have the excellent battery life as MIUI unfortunately.
Google search Loup 14.1 for santoni.
It is by noyer, father of development on santoni.
For some reason he isn't on XDA but his ROM is what you need you can follow him on github and twitter though. He even managed to port Sailfish Os for Santoni. I'm using Loup 14 with clarity kernel and experience is awesome.

correct..i thought to suggest the questioner...but you did before me. by the way, once rooted the Stock ROM? all bloat-wares from google and Mi can be removed...Battery and Phone performance everything is good.
even i tried a some recent official releases of Oreo 8.1 for R4x , first few days everything good, later Battery life tarts in consistency. so, i back to stock but removed all Google and Mi's apps ..only very few mi services still existing on my rom, if i delete them my phone gets locked and i need to do everything from scratch again, so i let them persist... Go for stable miui global 9.2 and keep remove the stock bloatwares.

Stable Treble ROM

hi i own a mi 4x as a backup device and currently its on PixelExperience (non-treble) ROM. I have to use the device for several days and i would like to flash a Treble ROM. So i dont have alots of time to test various ROMs. So what im asking is kindly point me some most stable Trebelized ROM. i dont mind its weather 8.1 or 9.0. i wanna use a stable ROM.
Thanks
I hope you are referring to Xiaomi Redmi 4X if so then go for DOT OS 2.4 or HAVOC OS both ROM are based on Android 8.1 are much stable and have decent battery life. (haven't tried them with custom kernel but have learned that they give good battery life with it)
Android Pie based ROMs are quite good too but they do have bugs but can be use as for daily use ROM.
I am currently using official HAVOC OS 2.0 based on Android Pie it does have bugs too but they aren't major ones.
Sorry for the off-topic, Oreo Havoc OS is not on XDA, correct? I've searched and couldn't find it, only Pie version. Is this the Oreo version you mean @metelhammer?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/havoc-os/files/santoni/
Yes, this is the official Havoc OS download link.
Havoc 2.0 is based on Android Pie which is -> Havoc-OS-v2.0-20180903-santoni-Official.
All other old zips are based on Android Oreo.
As for now only first zip is Android Pie and all old builds are Oreo ones.
Later they should be named as Havoc OS 2.0.
Everything clear, thank you for your help!
Do you find Havoc 2.0 stable enough for daily use?
Your welcome ?
Yes, it is quite good for daily use certainly it has bugs but they aren't major ones.
Compared to Android Oreo based Havoc OS it has less customization but that's totally fine considering it is first build.
I am using it since when it released.
Battery life is quite decent not that good, I get around 6 hours of SOT and I haven't tried any kernel with it so it might give good battery backup with it.
On mobile data as usual like all other custom ROMs battery life isn't that good.
ROM is smooth though and can be use as daily driver.
Thank you very much for all the info @metelhammer
I've tried Havoc 2.0 last night, but my microphone didn't work, so I went back to Havoc Oreo, everything fine for now.
I think I'll just wait for a stable enough Pie build, can't wait for it though :highfive:
Microphone didn't worked that's strange, it is working fine here.
No problem I am too waiting for future update, cheers!
I have tried most roms on redmi 4x. My recommendation is Lineage 15/14

Most stable and fast nougat based non-miui Rom?

I own my max2 since 1.5 years now. It is unlocked.
I use Mi globe rom which is really stable.
But with updating from miui 8 to 9, i had the feeling, that 9 is slower, than miui8 (I know that miui said it Would be faster, than 8)
Since some days, I use miui 10 now.
Also at Mi globe rom.
But the same here, miui 8 is faster than 10, too.
The newer roms based on the known devs like Lineage on Android 8 and 9 seem to have some bugs, which nobody can fix 100 %.
So this is no option to me.
So of i try another rom, it has to be based on Nougat to use All Features of my device correctly. Maybe on top with a better camera software, that doesnt autofocus permanently like in miui.
Can someone Tell me, which one, is the most stable and fastest android7 based non-miui rom? The number of roms is that much..... To much to test them all
If there is non of the ones at xda, i Would think about going back to miui8 based Mi globe rom, which i still have a nandroid Image saved
I know that security patches Would be worse then...
Thanks alot

That's exactly what I want to know.
Imho should the developers first fix all bugs and after this is ready then going to newer Android bases, like from 8 to 9....
Only because a base version is newer, doesnt automatically mean that it is better. And more bug free.
When bugs are in elemental features like doing a phonecall, this is absolutely non accetable to me.
Hope this doesnt sound to hard, because I really appreciate the work of the devs.

really? like what? i just switched to ArrowOS and havent seen anything out of the ordinary. admittedly, only been on it for a day, but so far its stable. also keeping tabs on all the Pie ROM threads (to keep the index thread up to date ) all "bugs" reported by users so far have been due to user error, i.e. using wrong TWRP, dirty flashing, using excessive amounts of mods (substratum, magisk modules, audio enhancements, etc.).
viperOS 3.1.1 + hardrock kernel 20.2 ?
tried the 3 GHz hardrock Kernel?
Maybe a little bit too much, for the hardware
Looking for same...
