[Discussion] XDA was paid to promote oneplus devices? - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

I would like to know if XDA is paid to promote the oneplus devices ( 3/3t ),as i scroll through several pages reading topics,I see a permanant-fixed banner about the devices,Is this a way of promoting ? or they just want us to know about the devices? These three articles were written by 'Mario Tomas Serrafero' ,he writes articles about every small update one plus has rolled out.
I'm just curious,I know both are great devices, but I feel these are promoted by one plus for money, share your views.
Note : Sorry for my bad english, don't quote it to defend your dumbness.
/discuss.
Take a look at these banners -

Thread closed, no XDA was not paid to promote one plus devices.

Pls!!! Like and share your thoughts on this anti iPhone Facebook page

Guys, I have made an anti iPhone & anti Apple Facebook page which i thought you guys on XDA would definitely like and would like to share your post and comments on that page. Pls!!!! follow the link - https://www.facebook.com/hateapplephone
Contrary to popular belief, this is NOT an anti-iPhone or anti-Apple site. Many of our members have such devices.
We're also not here to popularise hate pages.

Looking for daily writers and YouTube reviewers

I was told by a mod that this thread is fine. I won't throw this mod under a bus, but if this is not allowed please close.
I run an Android website with roughly 8-10 writers and YouTube reviewers. We are currently looking for 2 more writers and 2 more YouTube review guys or gals. This website is strictly Android and a lot of our news comes from the devs here at XDA (we ALWAYS link back here to XDA). We don't support warez or any kind or stealing peoples or business's work.
If this is something you're interested in and ready for a commitment, hit me up here in my pm or hangouts. ([email protected]).
We are an up and coming Android site that get fun review units and have recently added a forum. We're all set with mods for the forums, but need writers and youtubers.
Thanks for looking and mods if this is not allowed please shut this thread down.
Thanks,
Chef

Just introducing myself (With a boom)

Hello Folks,
My names Jono and I'm just another nerd/phone enthusiast. I've worked in the telecommunications industry for over 5 years (mainly sales and technical support), so I should be able to help anyone with here any technical issues or offer general info on most smartphones.
I've also spent the last two years developing my own smartphone website (fonefox dot com) . We provide smart phone specifications, comparisons and have our own scoring system for phones. Its still a work in progress, so feel free to give some feedback if you feel it deserves any.
Looking forward to to being apart of this community
Can you please make your intro's into the official intro thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961655
Thanks!

smasithick here!

I was the Editor in Chief of Lovable Lumia, a fan site for Windows Phone. We had more than 20 lakh, unique visitors, from all over the world. We provided exclusive news that attracted so many fans. Many articles got featured on famous sites like Windows Central and MSPowerUser ({Mod edit}). With the demise of Lumia devices, the site was not managed and sadly hosting got expired and Godaddy deleted the entire site. But, my social media handles exist as proof of the existence of Lovable Lumia. ({Mod edit})
Also, developed award-winning Windows Phone apps and won so many flagship devices from Microsoft and Nokia like Lumia 1020, Lumia 1520, Lumia 950 XL, etc. Chennai Auto app was featured in Windows Central. ({Mod edit})
A few years back, I made a switch to Android flagship. Have a habit of knowing everything coming up in the technology world. I have a huge interest in Photography and Technology.
I had a chance to watch the Reno launch event on YouTube live. I was totally impressed with the top-notch specifications. Initially, I was planning to get another brand flagship and changed my decision after watching this keynote. Ordered a higher variant of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom on the very first day, without watching any actual reviews. When the device was delivered, I was completely satisfied and started exploring the Camera and Software. I made the right decision. I don't like stock Android with fewer features. ColorOS 6 came inbuilt with Oppo Reno 10x Zoom. It was very good.
I joined the ColorOS community (now OPPO Community) out of interest to contribute more for the users. One fine day, ColorOS SuperFan recruitment began. I've opted for that and I was selected too. And, started being an active member of the ColorOS Community. I became Pre-Creators Community Member.
ColorOS Pioneer recruitment began on some other day. With huge excitement, I've participated and won a free trip to the ColorOS 7 Launch Event. I can't even believe that it happened. As I said earlier, I have a habit of watching launch events. Now, I was invited to a Global Launch Event. Can you believe it? I asked myself. Yes! I won a trip to ColorOS 7 Launch Event and that made all the difference. Contributed to ColorOS 7 with valuable feedback and articles.

Within months of joining the ColorOS Community, I was promoted as Creators Team Member.
I have written 90+ threads that gained me 225+ fans in ColorOS Community. My articles crossed 200000+ views. That was a great achievement in a smaller span of time.
Used to participate in ColorOS Contests and won many contests. Last year, I was awarded as the "Emerging Creator of ColorOS Community".
As a token of appreciation, ColorOS sent me an Honorary Certificate for my journey in Creators Planet.
Never seen such an awesome and inspiring Community. For sure, you'll grow with the community if you're active.
Published unboxing videos of OPPO F17 Pro ({Mod edit}) in YouTube.
My passion is all about exploring new and future things in Technology. Being a phone addict, I used to dig deep into new technologies. That said I've covered multiple things that are introduced like new chipsets, features, apps, device launches, software updates, reviews, etc in my articles. And that received tremendous response.
I'm here in XDA Forum to share my experiences!

Censorship on social media platforms

Truth is the first casualty in a war or something similar is an often quoted saying these days. The recent reports of censorship on social media platforms are good examples of this censorship. Freedom of speech does not mean the license to troll or spread wrong information. I feel censorship by impartial judges is justified. The operative word being impartial.
What do you think? Do you agree with this view?
Do you think social media platforms should allow the unfiltered flow of content?
I don't use FB, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, Tic-tok or bother to view a any of the major US news network's bs.
They pushed too hard and the worm has turned...

Not using any of these social media apps is definitely one approach. The problem is if we have family members active on only these platforms!

Not good... my Mom didn't raise a fool.
Need to bring up their level of wherewithal.
All those sites are purveyors of disinformation at the very best and completely untrustworthy.
censorship is no longer a matter of social media, it's daily business on public media too and concerns all people around the world. nowadays it's even forced by law on governments outrage. we have passed 1984 long ago.
I don't see a reason why we should play their game and self-censor each own. On the other hand there are people out there spreading fake-news on telegram or whatever, so I am fine with our common board rules - no religion - no politics.
Having own opinion is part of our identity. we don't judge about someones avatar or profile signature - what we all have in common we are tech nerds, that's why we signed up here, don't we?
this is currently happen on xda? some true useful stuff is from 4pda (WwR MTK which is really great tool to create scatter files for mediatek devices, Orange State Disabler which patches little kernel to remove the 5 seconds delay on unlocked bootloader, just to mention two of them) and is mirrored on xda by members (not authors). some genius russian spend lot time and mind and offers it for free, so why not allow link to origin for respectful giving proper credits?
my opinion, xda should generally allow links to 4pda and only censor if necessary. each link should be surveyed for its advertising character on its own. only explicit links should removed, no generalized claims...

Welcome to XDA! We're greatful that you share your knowledge.
However; I've removed the references to 4pda! Same applies to your post here.
4pda is not only another phone related website (and not at all affiliated with xda-developers) but also well known for the distribution of malware and warez. Links to 4pda are not accepted on XDA.

@Alecxs Thanks very much for sharing your opinion. Censorship is a very subjective qualification for an action especially on a completely private website. In all the years that I'm visiting, monitoring and contributing to XDA - even before I was allowed to join the very small team of volunteers who mediate this site - I've never seen that anything has been censored on XDA. What I've seen (and am actually also now doing as a moderator) is that posts were edited or removed in cases when no content would remain after an edit because those post were not in line with the rules of this private website.
Would you call it censorship if I remove a post with a link to a child-porn site and ban the author? I certainly wouldn't call it so, and I'd even report all information I have in such cases to my local police station. Would you call it censorship?
Would you call it censorship if I remove a link to a website that offers warez and cracked premium applications and inform the authors that we don't accept that at all and made all users aware about this stance shown in rule no. 6 of our forum rules? I certainly wouldn't call it so. Would you do?
If we've visitors at our home and we told them please not to smoke but they don't care and do, I ask them to immediately leave. Would you call that censorship of the actions of our visitors? I certainly wouldn't call it so. Would you do?
In your above post you clearly explain that 4pda is another phone related website; something I also mentioned in my post that you've quoted. And the third bullet of our rule no. 11 says:
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.

I think it's just fair and quite understandable that XDA doesn't want to be a promotional platform for another phone related website.
If I visit the restaurant "Bella Roma" and order my drinks but when the waiter brings the menu, I say negative, please bring me the menu of the "Bella Napoli", I like to order their food, I'm most likely told that I won't be served and eat at the "Bella Roma" but could leave any time.
no generalized claims. that's all I said
edit: google translate: no sweeping accusations. that's what I wanted to say
