Can't unlock bootloader - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Recently I tried to debrand my P9 (EVA-AL10) with SRK-Tools, but something went wrong and my phone booted into E-Recovery. I tried to restore the phone via E-Recovery but during the download it gave an error and it won't let me download the firmware. So I downloaded the EVA-AL09 firmware from the internet and flashed it via dload. Everything went fine but when I tried to unlock the bootloader with dc-unlocker it only sayd unknown response. I tried to unlock the bootloader via the official emui site but it only sayd that the account has not been used more than 14 days on the phone. So I emailed Huawei support and they said I schoud send them my phone data. I did so but they only replied that my phone doesn't come from the state where I life in and they can't do anything. So im now stucked with a locked bootloader. Can I do anything? Like install an other firmware or unlock the bootloader in an other way ?

I also can't unlock my bootloader. When using the DC-unlocker to read the code, did you enter manufacture mode first? (Enable "manufacture mode" on your phone. This is done by entering in dial pad code *#*#2846579#*#*, select "Project Menu", "Background settings", "USB ports settings", "Manufacture mode". Then connect it to PC and install drivers)
I was able to get the code from Huawei, but when I try to enter fastboot command to unlock I get "Failed: password wrong"

I used the code from Huawei and it worked for me. On EVA-L09 though. Did you make sure you entered the details correctly to request the bootloader unlock code from huawei?

Strangely it wored now just fine with dc unlocker and I was able to root l.

I must have entered the information in 4 different times, both in English and Chinese site. I get the same code each time. I even rolled back to MM and requested. Same code each time. Not sure what else I could be doing wrong.
Edit/update: I tried to unlock with DC Unlocker and it worked. The code that DC Unlocker gave me was different from the official Huawei site.

Bricked and can't get unlock bootloader

Hope someone can help me out here. Here's what happened:
1. Bricked my phone after downgrading firmware
2. Unable to load and stuck on Huawei logo
3. Can't enter recovery with the vol up + power buttons
4. Only can boot into bootloader with vol down + power buttons
5. Used DC Unlocker to view all the required info to generate unlock code - IMEI, Serial no., etc.
6. Retrieved code generated from Huawei site and Product ID Generator
7. Tried unlocking bootloader with SRK tool or manually via fastboot but it kept showing - fastboot oem unlock *my unlock code* > FAILED (remote: Command not allowed).
8. Reinstalled USB driver and tried again but still the same error
I've also tried dload with the stock update.app downloaded from official Huawei site and the 3 buttons combination (vol up + vol down + power) doesn't work at all.
I'm not sure what else I can do now. Hope someone can be able to help. Thanks in advance.
Update: after struggling for a few weeks trying to unbrick the P9 and my local Huawei service center tried to charge me for at least $400 and claimed that they need to change the board to fix it, DC Phoenix was able to sort my problem out with 15 Euros. It was well worth it and I got my P9 back to working state again.
Here's what I realized happened to my phone before it was bricked. All partitions were corrupted due to a bad update.app or possibly due to a bad cable (noticed it was torn up like one of those apple cables).
DC Phoenix - You don't have to worry if your bootloader or FRP is still locked. It'll use a backdoor to write every partition from a stock .app firmware file and that's pretty neat.
Lesson learnt and to anyone who's trying to root, downgrade, flash or fiddle with anything on your Huawei, enable your OEM unlock in developer options or you'll get a hard time trying to unbrick if anything goes wrong.
Revived: Huawei P9 (EVA-L19)
I've gone through that before, but ended up using DC-Phoenix to unbrick it when it's FRP and bootloader locked. Cost me about $15. There is a post on how to do this but I'll have to search for it again.
Here is the post I used:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71767614&postcount=7
This was done using a EVA-L09 phone.
Thanks for the information @benjamen50. I've considered using DC Phoenix too but that software doesn't look too assuring.
I'll update once I have the time to try DC Phoenix.

It works 100%. I had to use it too to unbrick my device good luck
I was stuck on same scenario, have cell under warranty and things normal after submitted to service center, but before went to service center, i searched over the internet, you just de-brand your cell and all things will be normal
May I ask, how and where did you get the unlock code?

The code is generated from a combination of model, product serial number, IMEI and product ID. Here are the steps to get all those details:
Head to this site - https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/detail
Login or signup if you don't have an account. Under 'unlock' page there's a form you'll need to fill
On your device:
Go to Settings > Developer Options and enable OEM unlocking
IMEI and serial number can be found in Settings > About > Status
Dial *#*#1357946#*#* to get your product ID
Fill in all these details in the form on emui site and it'll generate an unlock code for your device.

Huawei p8 lite 2017 bricked after wrong oem flash

(SOLVED) So I wanted to debrand my phone, and I saw this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/c432-oeminfo-flash-twrp-t3384903
problem is, the oem I flashed with twrp was for the p9 lite, now my phone doesn't boot inside the os, it only goes to huawei erecovery but the download always fails. I can boot to fastboot mode but everything I try to do it says command not allowed, only fastboot devices work
I hope someone can help me as I really need my phone for work, thanks very much
my original cust was C02
I also have a twrp backup I did, but I just cant get inside twrp because as soon the phone turns on it goes to erecovery
Edit: i finally resolved and I'm going to really help you if you flashed the wrong oem file just like me, just follow these steps:
1. since you installed a new oeminfo, you are gonna need to unlock the bootloader again, (just like you did the first time), but wait! here is what I did wrong, when you request an unlock code, huawei in the unlock page is gonna ask you for your imei and serial number, I was lazy and I got my imei via fastboot instead of checking the one on my phone's box, worst idea ever because when you flash another oem your imei is gonna change so that's why in the site it said sn and imei are mismatching, so take the IMEI on your phone's box and NOT via fastboot. Anyway, let's go to part 2
2. in the unlocking site they are gonna ask for a product id wich you can get by writing *#*#1357946#*#* in the phone's dialpad, but you're probably thinking "how can I do that if my phone does't boot the os?" but don't worry my brudda! just download this https://cloud.mail.ru/public/KGmS/1cEhHg1G6 , open it and chose huawei y300-0100 as product model, then put your IMEI (take the one from your phone's box!!) and it's gonna give you the product id you need in the huawei site.
3. once they give you the unlocking password, power off your huawei and connect it in your pc with your usb while holding the volume down button, you should go in fastboot mode
4. once you are in fastboot mode write in the cmd fastboot oem unlock (9982883838382365) <<(instead of this numbers write the unlocking password they gave you in the huawei unlocking site) aaaand done, you unlocked the bootloader once again.
5. if you previously had twrp (before flashing the wrong oem file) it's gonna pop up when you boot the phone, now you can use fastboot or twrp again to flash the right oem (or stock rom)
I REALLY HOPE I'M GONNA HELP YOU BECAUSE I KNOW HOW BAD IT FEELS WHEN YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE LIKE I DID!!
Now bye everyone I need to go play soccer and I'm late

I got it directly in the site I also tried this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/help/how-to-product-id-bricked-p9-t3561156
but when I click on commit after writing all in the huawei unlock site bars it says SN and IMEI are mismatched
I mean you really f***ed up there. I thought that you could restore the device by eRecovery but If you would do that you would brick it completely bc it would Download everything for the p9...
you can't do anything without the unlock Code.
You could otherwise try to force upgrade via dload

P10 Oreo - Boot problem

Hi
I have a BIG problem with my P10 (L29C432) on Oreo 365.
Tried downgrade to nougat through Firmware Finder but update failed. Now i have this warning at every reboot.
I have LOCKED bootloader (never rooted phone). And i cant get bootloader unlock code (website not working).
Also cant enter fastboot mode because of that error.
Is there anyway to RESTORE phone with locked bootloader? I have tried to flash previous firmware with sdcard method (hold power,+,- keys) but update fails everytime.
Is there other way to flash new firmware?
I can use phone but at every reboot i get this message?
If there is no other way to flash new firmware than with unlocked bootloader... Where to get code for unlocking bootloader?
Thanks.
Edit:
I can enter fastboot mode but my bootloader is locked.
you have to unlock bootloader by sending all the needed info per email.
you need to send them IMEI, model version, S/N number, and product id and request for bootloader unlocking code this email: [email protected]
next time read about how to rollback to nougat...
Thank you. So I need to unlock bootloader.
Will try to get code.

If you don't have your "product id", you can't have the code for unlock the bootloader :/
The "Product ID" is a code into the system info on android :s
I am waiting for code from Huawei. They will send me code in next days...
you can get product id on imei24. com by typing your imei.
Now i have another problem. I think phone is "dead" now. Unuseable.
Tried to root phone and now nothing works.
Phone does not recognize SIM card at all.
If I go into settings and system information there is no IMEI number?
Can i restore this?
Or need to take it to service center? Or dead phone?
send the device against wall. Buy another one and forget averything about rooting and unlocking bootloader. Its for your safety, trust me.
I have experience with rooting and flashing phones (Sony). Never had problem.
So there is no way to restore phone?
maybe in repair store. Never heard about bricked device without imei. You can still try to flash original firmware.

Can we still unlock the bootloader on the Honor 9 lite?

Try again or Use the mailing method(I don't know much about but you have to mail the support to obtain the unlocking code and it might take upto 2-3 days)

I tried through their portal, and via email. This was their response:
We do apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing, however, it is our duty to inform you that Huawei Canada does not provide codes to unlock the bootloader, root the device or provides any tool/code to modify the phone internally. We kindly inform you that this action can potentially "brick" the phone or in other words, renders the phone completely unusable and voids the warranty service and device support. We have no control over how unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone, will affect your device.
We understand that you might be able to start the request to get the bootloader unlock code from our EMUI website, regrettably, your device does not qualify to receive this code, since the Huawei Canada warranty policy limits us to do not provide this code in order to prevent future inconveniences to our consumers.
This bootloader unlocks code, it is just limited to be available for certain specific regions.
We are aware that you can find unofficial information over the internet, about how to root or unlock your phone and due to our Security and Privacy Policies, we cannot provide you these codes or tools, for that reason, we cannot assist you in that matter.
We highly recommend you refrain from taking these actions on your device.

How does that affect warranty?
Can you reapply the old id if necessary?

No, you can't. DC-Unlocker neither autodetects the phone nor is it in the manual selection list. Also https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supported_models_1/huawei_phones says no bootloader unlocking service for said phone.
On the other hand Huawei support gave me this reply (translated by me) :
Hello [censored],
sadly the bootloader unlock code service has been terminated completely. I'm really sorry but I can't help you.

By the "instructions", I assume you mean the tutorial at http://hcu-client.com/read-bootloader-code-huawei-phone/. They seem clear, but they don't tell you how to actually use the code to unlock the bootloader! Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that? Thank you.

Yep, I mean the tutorial.
I have used this method a good few times, all successfully .
Dc-Unlocker/HCU allows direct unlock on a lot of models and gives the unlock code on others.
To use this code, put phone in "fastboot" mode and issue the command :-
fastboot oem unlock code
Phone should factory re-set (erasing all user data) with an unlocked bootloader.

I can confirm. There's just one thing to note: Deinstall the adb drivers from Microsoft and use the ones shipped with HiSuite. Else there will be no virtual COM port and as a result the tool won't find the phone. [EDIT]And don't try to use the tool in a VM. Sadly it refuses to work there.[/EDIT]

Thank you so much. With this method I successfully unlocked the bootloader of my Huawei Honor 9 Lite. No problems, just one oddity – the HCU software warns you that reading the bootloader unlock code will wipe your phone, and you have to acknowledge that to continue. This, of course, is not the case: it is using the code to unlock the bootloader that causes the phone to do a low-level reset. Presumably a mistake in the wording.

I used HCU to read the bootloader unlock code before I saw your message, and so had not uninstalled the Microsoft ADB drivers. I had already installed HiSuite. It still worked for me, so presumably it is not necessary to uninstall the Microsoft ADB drivers unless HCU doesn't recognize the phone.

Many thanks to those who contributed to this thread. I had no trouble unlocking the bootloader of my device using HCU after purchasing credit from DC-unlocker. At only 4 euros it was worth the money. The posted instructions were clear. Once HCU provided the code all I had to do was send it to the phone using fastboot..

Phone locked, FRP unlocked

I have a P9 (EVA-L09) branded to 3Ireland. I asked the service provider for the unlock code and got this:
Hi there,
Thanks for your recent unlock code request.
Below is the unlock code for Huawei IMEI 862836031485752.
Your unlock code is 1738262161041091. Please find instructions to unlocking your phone or modem below.
So I put a vodafone SIM in the p9 and it asked for the unlock code which I entered. My vodafone SIM works fine so the P9 is SIM unlocked.
With a view to installing LineageOS, I enabled Developer Options, Enabled OEM unlock and USB debugging. I then powered off the phone.
Holding the Vol Down button, I inserted the USB cable and the P9 restarted in Fastboot&Recovery Mode.
However, it says, in green, Phone Locked, and, in red, FRP Unlock.
I guess I have to unlock it to install TWRP but how do I proceed?
TIA

You mean your mobile service provider?
If so, they gave you SIM unlock code to make your phone open for SIM cards from other operators
But that has nothing with the unlocking the Bootloader - what you see in Fastboot and what you need for flashing is about unlocking the Bootloader
Operators don't provide/sell the codes to unlock Bootloaders - rooting, custom ROMs are not in their interest
In the old days, Huawei provided (for free) Bootloader codes. They stopped and for the new phones made it really hard to unlock the Bootloaders, for some even impossible (at least, yet)
For the old P9 you can still buy a code from e.g. DC Unlocker (use Google)
But then, be careful, read the guides first - this mistake with buying a wrong code was benign while flashing an interviewcompatible ROM can brick your phone.
E.g., you are most likely on EMUI 5, and you cannot use any GSI ROM but only ROMs that were ported and adapted for P9, EMUI 5 ( Nougat firmwares). Also, if the ROM instructions say it is for P9 but EMUI 8, it is not for your phone (unless you rebrand and upgrade to Chinese EMUI 8)
It's not, take any AOSP or GSI ROM from elsewhere and flash to Huawei. If you are new in the game, go to the P9 Custom ROMs section here on XDA and read the OP posts to make sure you fullfil the requirements before you flash.
Be aware that most of those threads are 'dead' - early flashoholics long ago moved to the newer phones. Few remaining who stayed with P9 (usually as a second phone), upgraded to Chinese EMUI 8 (Oreo), and you can find them only in the few still active threads. Be careful and good luck
You can get one using dc unlocker for 4 euros. Just jut it down upon getting it. From there its smooth sailing on TWRP. You have to reinstall twrp from time to time if you are on stock though
@zgfg, I greatly appreciate the clear and comprehensive explanation. Very helpful.
@Bill, 4€ is a reasonable price to pay for an old phone.
Thanks you!
