Oneplus 3t screen (Amoled) problem? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello there!
I would like to ask if there's something wrong with my amoled screen. I bought my Oneplus 3t 4 days ago. I would like to ask if its normal to have screen like that. So, half of my screen (down part) is quite red or pink and it feels like quite darker than the up side of the screen (if you're testing it on white or grey background). It's quite annoying when u are surfing net on chrome... I tested another amoled on My girlfriend's SGS6 edge and the screen is totally the same (there are NO any darker or pinker sides). Do you have anything like that? Or there is something wrong with my amoled? Would like to know your opinion. I would be appreciated if you could send some photos like i did so we can compare.
Thanks in advance!

Sadly this is why i returned my op3 , These displays on the op3/t are terrible
But yeah a lot of op'3s have screen uniformity issues

Do you think i should return it aswell? Is someone else having same problem ?

White......

I tried the screen tester app and sure enough my screen is absolute perfection. All colors look absolutely great . Whites are uniformed white and also greys

Same here every color, gray, and black perfect at every brightness.

Thank you guys for the responds. It was really important for me. Ill refund my oneplus 3t back to store. This is unacceptable for me to have screen like that.

actually that screenshot is useless. imaging using a torch to burn the screen and it turns yellowish or cracks. the screenshot will still be white.

Yah definitely don't see any problems with my display on 3T so good thing you returned.

Yes definitely return it, You shouldn't have to deal with a bad display when you paid 439/479eur, ask for replacement or return it and buy again, problem is with all the returns / replacements you always have to wait weeks.

Guess its better to wait weeks than struggle all the time and be unhappy with the new device . Thanks to all one more time!

It's an AMOLED quality problem. It took me 3returns of my 6P until I got a screen that was uniform without green or pink tints. Luckily, my OP3T was uniform the first time.

Which colour?

Hi everyone!
I am thinking to get an Xperia Z tomorrow, and could order black, white or purple online from Sony, or black and purple from o2 or get the white one from Phones4You.
Any comments about the colours, if the body of the phone shows marks with one colour more than another etc, would be appreciated.
Might also get the charging dock!
I think any special offers are long gone.....

Personally White, after going to the Sony Showroom in Tokyo and seeing all 3 of them I reckon the white is the best looking one. The purple is also quite nice, the black seems to show fingerprints on the glass backing a bit too much for my liking.
Only thing that puts me off the white is the black frame around the screen at the front. If it's going to be white I prefer it to be virtually all white. Except the screen of course. Just my opinion.

I had a purple one. It always turned heads (me being a 16 year old boy n all) plus its a great conversation starter. Marks aren't really that visible

That thanks button doesn't bite
I have a black one, my gf a purple one. The black is really nice, although fingerprint friendly. But with a black skin (or a new rom supposdly) it is a really great looking slab. The purple one is quite nice too, especially in sunlight. But for me the purple one is a little too ehh oldish-purple looking. I haven't seen the white one in person, but I'm sure it's still a great device.
Just go and see for yourself if you can
Notice the black front border around screen

Lines covering the hardware buttons and LED

Does anyone else have faint black lines covering the hardware buttons or the LED on the black n4?
I'll try to post a picture later- they're basically the thin lines that appear on the top and bottom of the phone, but instead of stopping along/over the LED and menu/return keys, they kinda look painted over them.
I did install a tempered glass screen protector before noticing this, but if anyone else sees the same thing, please post.

It's normal. Note 3 is similar but different pattern.

It's not the same on my N3... the lines don't cover the button lights...
See my attachment.
There are black lines covering the LED as well. Certainly doesn't seem normal.

Sorry ya mines the same. But on the note 3 it isn't as noticeable because the pattern is different. It's the pattern that Samsung used that makes it too obvious.

I'm glad I have bad eye sight; I probably wouldn't of noticed it if it wasn't posted here..
thanks for making me look for it when I get my phone! :crying:
I had the same question. When i saw it i almost wanted to return the device. I can not believe they would make something like the note 4 and then ruin it with that kind of finish. I am really disappointed by the fact that they didn't keep the same style as the note 3 at least or improved it. a nice brushed aluminun look or something. anything is better then these stupid lines. it reminds me of an old crt monitor from WAY back in the day that was interlaced. just ugly.
Must be something with the black version. I have the lines also but my wife got the white version and doesn't have the lines...
Do what I do and turn off the back lights

Black Note 4 - lines on back and home capacitive touch buttons?

Is it normal to have lines on back and home capacitive touch buttons? I think the glass has a line design to it?
yes. notice the lines all over the front face of the phone? the buttons are under that.
It's a design feature. It's like Marmite (if you don't know what that is... YouTube it) you either love it or hate it. I find it estheticly pleasing.
I've noticed the stripes and I personally don't like it. It looks broken/shonkey to me. Other than that the handset is great.
I'm gonna put myself down for the hate side on this one. The moment I switched my phone on I saw the lines over the notification LED. What was samsung thinking?
I love them, they look... like pixel art.
Hate the lines. Schoolboy error imo. Worst is the lines over led notification
Hate the lines.
I think the lines give it a little extra flavor.

Glad to know its a feature and not a flaw. I don't care what it looks like
there are lines??? although I don't have the capacitive buttons light up at all
Anyone know what the white marks are on the top and bottom of the metal frame?
I believe they are to do with antenna reception
They may also be to assist in ease of production. It's gotta be difficult to put a solid rectangular piece of metal around the edge of a phone.

Yup, those are the "holes" for the antennas.
To the OP: it's the textured painting behind the front protective glass, it is what it is.

Nope.
I also don't like the lines but it it's the only thing I've had to complain about. Anyway I spend all my time looking at the gorgeous screen.

Holy **** I dont care. I never really see the lights on the capbuttons, nor the notification light. I see the light distantly if something happened, and the capbuttons for a few seconds, and on the white version I honestly dont even think about the lines.
What I DO think about is a mm or less of light from the cap backbutton kind of bleeding into the edge of the screen above it, as if it wasnt sealed properly. But thats only noticeable in a dark room, and not really a big deal either... But thats far more annoying.

Black vs White

Hey guys. Does this really happens with the white Note 4?

Yes in white note it happens but it looks awesome and more bright then black one
The reason for that is that white reflects light better than black, which is why the back and recent apps button look allot brighter on the white Note 4.
LOL yes, the menu lights are very bright to look at night times, on the white phone.
I keep mine off all the time so I couldn't say :silly:

Yep, the white looks terrible, like there is light leakage, thats why I prefer black, its cleaner and more defined, doesn't look like a toy.

Screens look better with a black frame next to them. It's been shown you perceive the colors as more vibrant and the screen as better quality with a dark versus white border.
Yeah Black is favoured amongst men, as its more masculine or some such ****e, but I love the White one anyway, both are excellent colours and its completely a personal preference.
Not about Masculinity for me, I don't have to compensate for anything, I just generally don't like bright colours, the brightest thing I own is my car and thats Silver with lots of Black detailing.
I love things that are classy yet understated, hate shouty.
When I was younger I loved shouty, I remember getting the Sony Ericsson W800i when it came out when I was in highschool, it was Orange & White with Chrome covering the camera area, awesome times I'd hate myself if I got an Orange & White phone now, would be too much for me, lol.

Faulty Display.

Hi,
I got the blue mi 9, I noticed a horizontal line across the middle and top and bottom of the screen when the screen is at low brightness in a dark environment.
I tested it with oled test, but is it clearly visible on dark grey backgrounds.
I returned my phone and wonder if this is a common issue?
The line on the middle of the screen is the most visible on the photo.

When you pay 500€, you have the right to worry, it's should not have any defect like this.
Those lines are nothing to worry about like said earlier, it's inherent to how OLED panels are made for smartphones. Just a downside of the technology that OLED makers will not tell you about since that kind of situation is rare compared to most a phone usage

I have never seen those lines on Oled displays, and I had a lot of phones with a amoled or oled.
Search OLED Grey on Google image, you'll maybe understand. There's various degrees of the issue to the technology

People got too much hype on AMOLED and usually they don't talk much about its specific possible problem (LCD don't have).
The most prominent problem is due to the way AMOLED is powered which could lead to flashing screen, flickering screen .
