So I am thinking of buying a LG G6 Tmobile unlocked. Will it work on AT&T's network? Just asking, looking at the radio bands they appear to be the same on both phones.

Yes my SIM unlocked T-Mobile LG G6 works on AT&T. what you lose is the ability to use Video Calls and AT&T Wifi calling. if you plan to use these features, then it would be best to stick with the AT&T version.

So I guess you're coverag is ok without band 17, that the Tmobile version doesn't have?

This seems like a dumb question, but I'm trying to figure out if an unlocked Moto X off of the Motomaker site will fully work on AT&T. I know Motorola sells the "T-Mobile" version as the unlocked one on their site, which is why I put both in the subject. I can't tell by the specs I'm finding if the unlocked version will work or not, and I'm not real familiar with the exact bands needed on Tmobile and AT&T (we just switched from being long time Verizon users). Any help would be appreciated as I'm supposed to pick it up today from another guy!

Thanks - so if you're paying full retail, there's really zero reason to get the AT&T version vs. the unlocked version off of the motomaker site, it would seem anyway...

Technically, the AT&T version does support one additional LTE band that the TMobile and DevEdition do not. HOWEVER, I've read that that specific band is not used in the US, and my experience has been consistent in that my tmo variant always has LTE coverage whenever my AT&T iPhone does.
I'm leaving Verizon with a T-Mobile motomaker moto x which I'll try on TMs no contract plan. If it doesn't work out, I can always give ATT a try. Seems like a no-brainer to use the TM version.

Interesting - trying to dig up some info on 850. But even still, it covers all the other major ones, and worst case scenario you're falling back onto their HSPA+ which is pretty good in and of itself. I live in the DFW area, and I'm here 99% of the time. So I'm sure it won't be an issue.

The band that the TMO moto x doesn't have is band 5 LTE I think. AT&T only uses 4 and 7 in the US. You're going to be fine getting the tmobile one no matter what GSM carrier you choose.

Actually its two LTE bands (5&7) the T-Mo and GSM Dev X lack compared to the ATT US model. But you are right, they are said to be used outside the USA only, so if you don't plan on traveling, you wont miss them.

And the since the T-Mo is sim unlocked, and can be bootloader unlocked, Right, if you are paying full retail, there is no reason to buy the ATT (which is sim locked and can't unlock bootloader).

The hardware in the AT&T model supports LTE band 7, all XT1058s do. However last time I checked the FCC docs it wasn't approved to use it in the US. In 4.2.2 it wasn't enabled in the AT&T build, in 4.4 I believe that it is though. It is used all across Canada and in some other countries, not sure if the US will ever use it though.

While the TMO version does in fact have all the AT&T LTE bands (your AT&T SIM will work), the hardware itself does not contain all the same bands as the AT&T version. Our TMO version supports: LTE Band 02; LTE Band 04; LTE Band 17 and the AT&T version supports LTE Band 02; LTE Band 04; LTE Band 05; LTE Band 07; LTE Band 17

Cool. Interesting how that's the only place it's mentioned (contrary to all the published specs). Wonder if it was just a slip up or if everybody else got it wrong!?

Ironically enough, I ended up disabling my LTE as HSPDA is fast enough and I get much better battery life with it off...
We have just purchased a Moto X made for T-Mobile and connected to AT&T towers and now are receiving terrible coverage. We are going through StraightTalk and are now actually roaming with good reception where we live, but we are roaming on USCellular towers. Is there any way that we can flash this phone to run on the USCellular network?
Ok, so I did a little research as far as coverage goes. If you're wanting to use the X on straight talk, then the at&t towers are going to be it for you. You could put the sprint version on straight talk, but if your Verizon straight talk phone is roaming onto us cellular, odds are Sprint is non existent where you live.
You could talk to the us cellular store about putting their version on prepaid, but you'll be looking at $65/month instead of the $45 that straight talk offers.
Now to answer your original question, it's impossible to put the t mobile x on us cellular because it doesn't have a CDMA radio.

If you're roaming on US Cellular and want to switch to US Cellular, all you would need to do is sign up with US Cellular and put their SIM in your phone. No flashing required. According to Wikipedia, the T-Mobile version supports all the non-LTE bands supported by the US Cellular version, but lacks some LTE bands that the US Cellular version supports, but this is a hardware limitation, AFAIK.

Unfortunately, both US Cellular and Verizon are CDMA carriers. Phones from GSM providers such as T-Mobile and AT&T will not work on their services.

The OP claims to be using a T-Mobile version of the Moto X with an AT&T SIM, which couldn't possibly roam on a CDMA carrier.
But a quick look at Wikipedia confirms that US Cellular is a CDMA carrier, although their Moto X version supports GSM bands also - which is what led me astray in my reply.

hi there. I'm looking to try out the tmobile $30 service and I have vzw right now. I was going to get a vzw model just in case things don't work out. As you said the tmobile service works with the vzw moto x but I was wondering if you're able to text/make calls while on the 4g LTE network? I've heard people having problems and not being able to surf the net while on call or not being able to receive texts/outgoing calls while on the 4G, but everything works on the HSPA network.

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about getting a moto x but I dont know which carrier version to pick.
I currently have a droid 4 on verizon and I'm looking to ditch verizon in favor of straight talk in june.
My issue is that they're having a sale on the moto maker site and I dont know weather to choose a Verizon one to use untill my plan stops or if I should get the T-Mobile or at&t version so it will work better with straight talk when the time comes to change.
Something to consider is that 1. T-Mobile has pretty spotty coverage in my area 2. I dont think the moto x can be activated as cdma for straight talk.
Some other questions I have are 1. will a T-Mobile version work just fine on at&t? 2. are there any reasons I should pick an at&t branded one? 3. Are there any reasons i shouldn't pick the verizon version?

So you could get that version, but I would check it first when receiving it to see if it work with a GSM sim, if not you can get an RMA for a refund. The Verizon edition have the 3G bands to work with ATT, it lacks T-Mobile AWS 3G band (1700). Also it only support LTE band 13, it doesn't support LTE bands 2, 4 or 17 that come with the GSM unlocked version, so you will not get LTE on ATT or T-Mobile.
There is zero reason to get the ATT version what so ever, none, zilch. It's sim locked (though you could ask ATT to unlock it I guess), cannot unlock bootloader. The T-Mobile version is actually the unlocked version, it support every bands required by ATT, both 3G and LTE. T-Mobile version have unlocked sim and bootloader, doesn't have carrier logo nor carrier bloatwares.
Then there is the unlocked GSM Developer Edition which allow you to unlock bootloader without losing warranty, is similar to regular T-Mobile unlocked edition, except that it lacks T-Mobile AWS 3G band. You can get the Dev edition for Verizon as well which have the same bands support as the regular Verizon version. You can not unlock the bootloader for the regular version of ATT and Verizon.

So you're saying I could get the Verizon Dev Moto X, and theoretically toss a ATT SIM in it and it will work on ATT (3G-only)? Has anyone tried this?
I can't guarantee it, but that should be the case, all new Verizon phones have unlocked sim on the GSM side, if they don't they would violate the FCC agreement.

Not sure if this is the correct forum but I can't seem to find anything about using VZ G4 on T-mobile? I don't mind if it need to be rooted, just want a stable setting that I can do. TIA.
Unless something has changed lately, you can't. Verizon uses CDMA for its voice network and T-Mobile uses GSM.
With that being said, the only way I've seen any Verizon phone being used on a GSM network is if the phone supports a SIM card (and I'm not sure the SIM card for the LTE counts) and the phone is unlocked to use international SIM cards (which, by default, will allow it to use T-Mobile). There's a catch to that, however. You may not be able to use the optimum frequencies T-Mobile uses if the Verizon phone doesn't support them, which may cause a less than desirable experience with your phone.
An unlocked AT&T G4 would be a better bet. Some international versions of the phone may also be better than the Verizon version. You'll have to do some research on the last one.
In the past I know Verizon would let their cdma/gsm phones work with international sim cards but not att or t-mobile. The verizon g4 supports lte bands 2 and 4 and that's the two main bands that t-mobile uses. It's not clear from the tech specs if the phone supports wcdma but if it does not you might drop to edge while on a call.
like tkirton said you would be much better off with a phone that's intended mainly for GSM. t-mobile branded phones, newer nexus phones(6 and later), and the iphone also have the advantage of volte and wifi calling.
My Verizon G2 worked on T-Mobile and Cricket which as both GSM. I got LTE also, but you'll loose LTE on calls, and probably won't have HD voice. So, G4 might be the same.

i can backup/confirm this, i was using the G2 (VS980 Verizon) with T-mobile and i was getting nice LTE Speed in my area but loose some T-Mo features of course....
I'm looking at a new phone for my girlfriend and I'd like for her to have a decent device with an unlocked bootloader. So I'm looking at the h811. Just need to know if it's possible for it to work on Verizon.

depends i beleive that if its still locked to tmobile you wont. you need it to unlock the carrier or look for one already unlocked.

Verizon is historically a CDMA-based network and the H811 does not support CDMA. So you will not be able to make voice calls (unless over VoLTE) or use SMS I don't believe.
Verizon also has LTE network components but the H811 is not compatible with all of their LTE bands. (Eg band 13, the original 700Mhz LTE band that Verizon rolled-out.) They also have LTE on AWS bands (generally in urban areas), which the H811 does support. (eg bands 2, 4)
There is a specific model of the G4 for Verizon, the VS986.
