You should try a clean install ( wipe all into TWRP apart : cust & Internal/External Storage ) !

Before install do wipe system, data, dalvik, cache and internal storage(if you have zip in external).

It says that my device is Cherry and that this is for alice? (P8 lite dual sim version, ALE-L21)

I didn't have any issues, LineageOS and Gapps working fine!

Yes, this ROM is stable. A5 device tree is used because A3 and A5 is very similar so it is fine to use A5 device tree.
However, if there are bugs(other than the ones mentioned in OP), please report and state your A3 variant and provide logs, so the developer can fix them and make a better build.

I have this problem in all Rom with 7.1.2.
I'm using sim number 1 (3g/Lte).
I have same bug from thebeginning of LOS 14 evelopment and here its same that my sim card is not working at all. On LOS 13 its fine here is i got to type my PIN and it says that no mobile network avaible :/
This ROM works better than Omni and LOS?

Please I'll wait a whole getprop taken from stock Huawei Android MM ( EMUI 4.0.3 ) - you should send me via PM and not here !
Just install Huawei EMUI 4.0.3 not 4.1, connect USB cable and type :

5. first time flashing the rom over emui 5?

if i'm correct you only have to add the device number to supported devices and add a additional camera driver

careful i did not test this with the ROM from team openkirin, but i guess there are good chances for success since it worked with meticulus' ROM. looking forward if someone wants to test it, right now i have no time for it...

Sorry, this is my last ROM based Android N for Huawei P8Lite ... No MIUI or other ROMs , sorry
Soon, I'll push into my github the source code for Android N, and in this way other users will build for you MIUI or whatever you want !
Starting from now on, I'll continue on Android Oreo, following that all OpenKirin's ROMs will be updated once a month with a new patch of security

The Rom Omni lasts longer than the battery, with normal use it gives me one day.

For my XOS it was very slow scroll and the battery did not reach me at noon.
