Did HUAWEI cheat on the storage type on P10/P10+? - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

P10 claimed to have a 960 SoC that features UFS 2.1 and LPDDR4 , but it was discovered that P10 uses much slower eMMC 5.1 and LPDDR3 instead. This has started a storm on the social media a few days back in China..
HUAWEI has not yet make a explanation about it. However, their public relationship department has started deleting negative comments and disable downloads of the benchmark app in their own app store.
You can test your storage type using: androbench. If you get a result lower than 700MB/s in seq read, you probably are one of the victims.
You can test your RAM type using A1 SD Bench: . If you get a result lower than 15,000MB/s in seq read, you probably are one of the victims.
If you have encountered any of these problem, please comment below.

VTR-L29, my results:

All ok by me

i get:
Sequential Read 775.17 MB/s
Sequential Write 184.59 MB/s
Random Read 169.76 MB/s
Random Write 149.56 MB/s
SQLite Insert 2882.43 QPS
SQLite Update 2946.98 QPS
SQLite Delete 4108.85 QPS

This is serious unethical behavior by them. I was just about to order a P10 but know don't want to get a P10 that they intentionally loaded with worse components.

I think it might be UFS 2.0, not as bad as eMMC 5.1.

I feel the same way.
I wonder what versions they sent to the big reviewers. They might need to add some alternative benchmark scores.
Also some of the scores are worse than SD card speeds.

My P10 has the UFS 2.1 as normal
Edit: I have tested the RAM and it has only a speed about 7400Mb/s!!! That's not good at all
So normal UFS 2.1 Storage but old RAM.
That's very disappointing!

Seems like the international variant of Huawei P10 is unaffected?
Shame on HUAWEI.

As a corporation which regards technology and quality as the key to survival, we have devoted ourselves to cooperating with leading solution suppliers and providing excellent product experience and services to our customers. As for the recently discussed problem on flash storage selection of HUAWEI P10 / P10 Plus, we have cooperated with multiple excellent flash storage suppliers closely to ensure product quality and user experience while guarantee the stability of supplying.
Whether a phone provides a smooth experience or not is not simply decided by one specific component but by the optimizations of software system and hardware system. In recent years, we have made huge effort to optimize and improve Kylin CPU, EMUI, Camera and more to ensure smooth user experience. This has won HUAWEI popularity among customers around the world.
For many years people have used benchmark tools to evaluate performance of a certain phone. However, this cannot represent the overall experience of this phone. Similarly, using some benchmark software to test the performance of some specific flash storage cannot represent the overall system performance and user experience. We have always strictly tested our phones under real world scenarios in hope of providing better experiences. We hope our customers can trust the quality of our products and our brand as always.

It's false advertising nevertheless. Should get more response if possible. IfnVidia can get into a class action lawsuit for the 970 4GB ram, mate 9/p10 outside with false advertising should face the same thing too.

SO, are the international versions afflicted with this or is Huawei only cheating their chinese customers?

[Q] Amount of RAM?

I thought in read in the specs before buying this phone that it had 512 MB of RAM.
When I check in my task manager it says I only have 326 MB of RAM total..
Don't tell me we (Canadians) have less ram than everyone else??
it is not just the Canada version
all SGS phones have 512 of RAM but only 326 available for end users the rest are used by the phone services
Isn't it a 2.1 thing?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
The kernel supports up to 326MB RAM. Newer versions support full 512MB.
I guess when Froyo is out officially we will have full 512MB support.
Its sounds to me this phone was made for frayo and 2.1 is just each what they had to go with the Iphone 4 would have gotten alot of sgs customers If the galaxy didn't release when it did

phandroid.com has a couple of shots of a Leaked Samsung Fascinate Equipment Guide . The second photo is quite interesting, it says
Onboard memory : 512MB Flash/384MB RAM
What does that mean ?? We have 384MB of RAM after all ??

That's another phone.. Doesn't mean much.
Our official news/press release said we have 512MB, so we have 512MB. Don't get too worried. Samsung may have decided simply to put the RAM to better use for now (to speed up other areas). Apparently, the epic uses a RAM disk to speed things up, so it's possible ours has a 160MB Ramdisk too

I am relatively new to android, but from what I have read on the internet Fascinate is simply another Galaxy S variant customized to Verizon, just like Captivate, Vibrant and Epic 4G, isnt it ?? Why would they mess around with the core components just for one carrier ?

I would like to believe that too , My only concern is Gingerbread compatibility. I know even if we have 512MB Gingerbread is not guaranteed. But 384MB means a definite no go , right ??

They added a flash for one... It might be to save money for the carrier. But, this variant uses EVDO which I believe is US only, and its possible they need more space on the circuit board too, for other features they add. Either way, our phone is advertised as 512MB.

Nobody knows. In the rumour world, there is a crapload of BS. Don't believe anything you hear unless Google says it directly (and publicly). Remember, Kevin Rose told us he SAW the iPhone before it was released, and it had multiple batteries. And that guy constantly says rumors (the only ones I see him ever get right are obvious ones or ones which have proof already if you know where to look). If rumors by idiots like him consume the the internet in hours, its easy for anyone else to do the same.
To the best of my knowledge, Google has never stated the RAM required.. That being said, the epic 4g apparently uses a 160GB RAMdisk to speed it up. It's possible our phone does the same (which explains the memory gap). But I have seen nobody prove or disprove whether we have 512MB of RAM which can be accessed by the OS. All I know is that Samsung have stated we do and haven't retracted it..

Don't blame me, I didn't even notice.. These forums should be thumbnailing the pics anyway
The photo is in line with previous speculation that the galaxy s has 384mb ddr(?) ram and 128mb onedram(fast ram dedicated to graphics??) / onenand(not actually ram??? 0_0) .. its all a bit confusing.
EDIT: found the relevant topics
http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742244
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7642223
EDIT2: at first I was a little concerned, but after reading the other topics, I'm fairly reassured that the "ram issue" isn't really a bit issue at all, once compared to nexus one, desire etc.
SEMC seems to run a Sony Ericsson blog. And his post is mainly guesses, as with the others. Nobody has actually proven anything. However, the arguments against 512MB of ram are that 128MB is flash, and that Samsung don't know the difference between RAM and flash (which doesn't make too much sense, as they clearly differentiate between the two elsewhere).
Until proven otherwise, there is no reason to believe that we don't have 512MB of physical RAM.

I checked it as well, the Desire has 576 mb but it shows only 400 mb,
my old X10 has 384 but only shows 270 mb, it might be the kernel, but Ive read on a unreliable website that the rest was dedicated to the GPU just like a shared videocard on a Laptop...
Yeah, it's likely some is dedicated towards GPU and such, and it's likely to be OneDRAM. But, there doesn't seem to be any definitive proof..
iam sure its the kernel guys.. my old desire after flash mod kernel can get full 512mb and free memory up to 300mb using advanced task manager..

a kernel doesn't do it for you, it ALLOWS you to do it yourself.
---------- Post added at 10:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:48 PM ----------
to decrypt, you have to reformat your storage, which mean you have to move everything or lose it.
The kernel is just force disabling encryption... keep in mind you have to FORMAT the userdata section on your internal storage... not just wipe it. You have to wipe Data, Dalvik, Cache and system aka everything but internal storage... then after thats done you have to FORMAT DATA to rid of the Encryption then make sure to flash the kernel that disables force encryption. Its just making it so it does not auto encrypt on startup but you still need to do the Format on top of the wiping to clear Encryption for good and yes make sure to do it because Snap 805 doesnt have decrypt on chip so youll see much better read write speeds from it so its worth the extra work.
As your attorney I recommend that you don't disable encryption. After my wife's phone was stolen I was very uncomfortable that the thieving scum could potentially see personal info on it, despite it being locked with both SIM & phone PINs (e.g. photos on the SDXC card). Encryption would have made her data safe.
I've run my Nexus 6 both unencrypted (9 months) and encrypted (6 months) and I see no difference whatsoever. None at all. The benchmarks that people waved around a year ago may well be accurate, and a write takes an extra 5 milliseconds. So what? In real life, no difference in performance or battery life, and peace of mind.
Edit: This looks like a deliberate disagreement with misfitpierce's "write speed" comment above. It isn't - I saw his/her final comment after I'd already submitted my post, but I'll leave my post as it is because I believe that it's correct. Benchmarks don't really reflect the user experience.
There is noticeable difference with encryption off on the nexus 6. the 6p encrypts and decrypts on the cpu in real time whereas a process is ran on the 32 bit snap 805. As for someone stealing your phone the encryption would only help them if they stole the phone and reflashed the rom to bypass the lock but left your stuff or tried to extract via pc and most of the time when someone steals a phone they are pretty dumb or are just attempting to flash if capable to erase everything asap so you cannot track or retrieve the phone. Paranoid to think otherwise tho it is possible. Personally thats a low risk tho and if someone wanted your info bad enough theyd get it regardless... I guess leave encrypted if you leave credit card info openly avail on your device etc but if your good about security the risk is minimum for the benefit on decryption. Just my 2 cents.
:The snag is that the Nexus 6 performs the file encryption/decryption on the CPU rather than dedicated hardware, which hurts performance and battery life"
Look that up anywhere! Thats a proven fact! Snapdragon 805 32 bit cpu was not properly set up to handle encryption without taxing the processor hardcore. I've noticed over 2 more hours SOT with encryption gone and over 30% read and write speed increase at times so... you choose what you wanna do,
"over 30% read and write speed increase"
Would that be from 0.08 seconds to 0.05 seconds...?

Nah thats MB/s writes that go from 6MB/s write/read to over 18 aka 30% increase or 3X more efficient. Your wrong, just deal with it and keep your encryption. Who cares what your want to do, you obviously seem to think that the nexus 6 aka the only phone handling encryption without a dedicated chip is not sacrafacing performance and is doing it by magic... I guess the phone farts out magic unicorns for you to.

Just look it up online and do research about how the newer snapdragons handle the encryption not seperately and have a dedicated chip to handling it which is not affecting performance or battery. You must not know a lot about technology so I apologize but I did try to explain in easy to understand terminology, errr I mean words...
Even the crappy Intel Z3580 in my Zenfone 2 handles encryption on its own side chip which does not affect read or write speeds and or the battery at all. Have a good day and I'm done cause from here you can research this stuff yourself. Not complicated.
And youll say this is a benchmark tho and those dont mean anything... thats arrogance... Benchmarks hold some value but this is not just a benchmark. This is seen day to day and does affect performance. Try it yourself and see.
Just want to chime in and add my experience with encryption on or off.
I notice no drop in either performance or battery life. That's not saying there isn't a difference with encryption on or off (as already stated, there is a difference in read/write speed), but I'm just saying that for everyday use I see no difference.
(Going from 6 MB/s to 18 MB/s is not a 30% increase, rather 200%)

I vote no. The performance change is minimal and only shows up on boot or copying large files.
@misfitpierce
I'm on holiday and my N6 isn't great for writing long replies so I'll keep it short.
You seem to have ignored my earlier implied apology about the read/write speeds and continue to think that I have some sort of personal grudge against you. I haven't, but I really have to say that your ill-written and innumerate rant does you no favours.
I realised when I had posted my hundredth post and magically became a Senior Member that that status does not automatically confer knowledge on all of us. Most, certainly, but not all.
Please feel free to apologise and I shall accept it gracefully...
Im sorry then bud but the way you implied its such a small change and its like your conveying false info to people. Its not just benchmark hoohaa junk. Im well aware that benchmarks typically dont mean much in terms of daily use but I do apologize if I've offended you @dahawthorne but its not as small a change as you stated.
The difference is there... its more of if people care enough to want to see it in day to day. It does improve battery because the CPU is being taxed much less but then again if you only answer a few texts daily and phone calls and dont transfer files or watch giant sized movies aka files or anything of that nature then you wont see much difference because the CPU isnt doing very much to begin with. If you download torrents and all that all day and do tons of stuff there is a noticeable difference. I guess it depends on how much you actually do on your phone daily.
Thanks. We can agree to differ. I don't say you're wrong, I say only that the benchmarks in real life use don't make as substantial a difference as you think.
And seriously, thanks for having the chutzpah to say "sorry". Even though I asked for it, pretty much tongue in cheek, it's good of you to recognise that both our opinions are valid.
The OP can no doubt make up his own mind based on all the comments above. Battery v security. I say security, but I get your point too.

i have an encrypted n6, since nov 2014, and do not own any form of computer(so no transferring files), and im a very heavy user. the only differences that i can see only existed before 6.0, after 6.0 there arent any differences that any person can see(maybe there are, but they are not seen). read/write is a bit better when not encrypted, but since i dont own a computer, i dont see that. as i can see, performance isnt affected in one bit, as my encrypted n6 has crushed many unencrypted n6.

Xiaomi Mi Mix slower than most Snapdragon 821 phones ?

I have been working far too long on this phone to make it perform as all other Snapdragon 821 phones perform.
I have zero understanding as to why this thing is so much slower.
Check the Antutu Benchmark results to see what I mean, most Snapdragon 821 phones are in the top 10 devices yet the Xiaomi Mi Mix is below the 20 mark and even beaten by a few Snapdragon 820 phones.
I can tell the difference greatly with both the OnePlus 3T and the Xiaomi Mi Mix right beside each other playing the same game.
Is there any way we can somehow improve the performance on this device.
I have tried running the CPU and GPU in performance mode , disabling the Thermal throttling with Kernal Auditor , underclocking to match the OnePlus 3T's lower clock speed. The CPU temp never goes above 38 celcius so it can't be throttling.
Wiped reformatted , tried Lineage , Epic ROM , Stock , Resurrection ROM and they all still underperform and as far as I know these are all odexed.
Please if anyone has any ideas let me know I'll try anything.
you must be high, it is on par with my galaxy s8
try a custom rom, like resurrection, and u will have a op3t performance.
i feel it pretty weird tho, for example, i just have the Mi5 (not s) and 32GB (LPDDR3), and i score 149-150K on Antutu, meanwhile the 64GB+ (LPDDR4) users score like 160-165K
and i saw a Mi5S scoring near 170K too, using MIUI tho and not custom roms, meanwhile on the normal Mi5 i score a lot more in Custom than in MIUI
Anyways don't take much in mind Antutu, it is very variable
the weird thing here is, that is going slow compared to the 3T, when it shouldn't

The device runs just fine when doing day to day tasks but when trying to play CPU intensive emulators it is much slower than the OnePlus 3.
This should not be expected as the specs are the same.
I am using the same version of the emulator on both devices with the exact same settings and the OnePlus 3 is always 10% to 20% faster on every game.
That adds up almost exactly to the Antutu score difference.

I looked into the details of the Antutu scores and the failing scores are mainly attributed the 3D processing sections, if it's not hardware then it must be software right.
There's no reason for this.
The only thing I haven't tried is a custom CPU governor , software driver manipulation , removing Qualcomm MP decision.
If you have any ideas or have done any work on this let me know, there is basically no information on the internet on why a soc would perform so poorly unless it was due to poor drivers or thermal throttling.
It might be cause MIUI's temperature control, you can try to delete it.

I too think so. When i ran Antutu(device was cool a bit); it wasnt getting full throttle because of thermal throttling although i disable it. What do you mean by 'try to delete it' though?
There is no custom kernel support on this device, somehow, nobody(devs i mean) interested in miui-kernel. The device has really bad kernel management, especially while getting charged from low percentages; feels the death. Perhaps shut down whole the cores smh.

I think people should focus less on synthetic benchmarks and more on actual user experience... Just my two cents. The phone runs perfectly well, never encountered any sort of slowness or performance issues.
I've tried different ROMs (xiaomi.eu, epic, RR official and unofficial).
With stock MIUI (Android 6.0 based) antutu score: 145000
With stock MIUI (Android 7.0 based), RR and Epic antutu score: 160000 and over
My personal advice: don't worry too much for benchmark score, it doesn't represent the real potential of the smartphone.
I can't see differences in speed with all the ROMs. The Mi Mix works great in every condition.
My point wasn't getting a bad antutu score, the point was 'thermal throttling' trouble when device getting forced to slow down easily. Even performance governor gets no fuğk. Im checking real-time cpu and battery temperatures btw, no higher temps in case. There is no big deal tho, just getting some UI glitches in some apps makes me confused.
And the other thing while charging etc, whatever. I god dam like this device and Miui.

There are better benchmarks than antutu... Mi mix goes.... FAST.(with little tweak)

I was able to get this removed using ES File explorer
I simply cut it from it's current location and moved it to root, the changes have been quite noticable, runs much better without it and it never gets too hot. Low battery impact here.

Android Pie Note 9 Snapdragon vs Eynos?

We have reached that time where the price of the Note 9 has dropped enough that it has become a really attractive option for those of us looking for a feature packed flagship phone at well below the $1000 mark.
I have decided that I am going to buy the Note 9, it's just a case of deciding which variant. I live in Southern Africa where we don't have support for Samsung Pay and we are not ready for the latest LTE technologies, so as long as I have working LTE, I am not concerned too much about these features.
With that said, it's still desireable to me to have the fastest option I can get within my budget because I want a fast and fluid user experience.
Apparently the Android Pie update has improved the performance of the Eynos variants of the Note 9 by a considerable amount.
So my question is, as it stands today, how does the Snapdragon variant compare to the Exynos variant in terms of performance?
Aside from performance and rooting, what other considerations or differences are there when deciding between the Hong Kong N9600 and the global N960FD variants? (Are there any major drawbacks or issues to consider when selecting one variant over the other? Build quality, storage performance/ Inferior components in one model vs the other etc..) (I read that snapdragon has touch latency. How bad is it and are there any other issues on either variant)
One unfortunate consideration is that my favorite color, the Metallic Copper, is unfortunately not available in N9600 variant. I have seen that the new white color is available in N9600 but I actually prefer the Note 9 in darker colors.
Note. I have confirmed that both variants support the bands for local mobile operators
Please help me decide!!!
how does the Snapdragon variant compare to the Exynos variant in terms of performance? This question has been answered countless times, just search "note 9 exynos vs snapdragon" on YouTube and you'll find loads of content. The difference is pretty small, I'm pretty sure you'd find it hard to notice any difference in real life.
Fastest - Probably N9600
Build quality - The same
storage performance - The same
Inferior components in one model vs the other - As far as we know, there should be no differences other than the SOC.
I searched for "touch latency" in the N9 Q&A area and this thread was the only thing that appeared, so I'd say that's probably not much of an issue.
The only difference worth mentioning other than performance and rooting as you mentioned, is game emulation, basically the Exynos isn't really supported.

I have searched for the difference on YouTube and google but the results are related to tests that were done before the Android Pie upgrade, as mentioned in my post above. There are some comments on those YouTube videos and on the Anandtech website where people are claiming that the performance of the Exynos variant has improved significantly, however there don't seem to be any official tests to confirm this. With so many members in this forum having both variants, I am hoping that we can get some answers here.
In the Anandtech tests, the Snapdragon variant was quite considerably faster in nearly every test. Certainly nowhere near evenly matched.
So, how close is the performance of the Exynos variant now after the Pie update with One UI?
Thanks for the feedback on the other questions.
So all you really need is someone to test an Exynos device on Oreo and Pie and see if the results differ. I'm happy to do that for you a bit later, name me the benchmarks you'd like to see and I'll see what I can do.

If you don't mind (Since this will be quite a time consuming process), yes please, I think it would be really interesting to compare the Pie (On One UI) results with those in the Anandtech tests.
I'm not sure if I am allowed to post the link but you can Google the Note 9 Snapdragon vs Exynos test by Anandtech.
They used the following benchmarks:
PCMark 2.0
3DMark
GFXBench
Speedometer 2.0 (Runs in your Browser. Google it)
WeXPRT 3 (Runs in your browser. Google it)
Sounds good to me, I'll be flashing the Oreo and Pie versions of Devbase as it's as stable as it gets.
for what its worth here are some geekbench results done on a korean n960n exynos ( its not a 9600 or 960f as stated in recent discussions but i can vouch for the build quality, have not seen one screen or other defect issue reported from an other n960n user. cant say the same for 960f or 960u...forums are full of them)

january results are on Pie.

Out of interest, where was the n960n manufactured? It seems like the n960n is considerably less popular on XDA (a quick search in the Q&A area shows a total of about 5 threads referencing the device, out of the ~770 total threads), which is probably why we see less issues reported.
I know that 960f is for Australia and Europe.

I've just finished testing Oreo vs Pie. Unlike Anandtech, I'm not using obfuscated applications IDs to avoid benchmark detection, I'm just installing direct from the Play store, so I don't know if that will have any effect on the scores. I'm also letting the device cool between tests and running on battery power (In the 50 - 70% range) as that seems like the best way to keep things consistent.
Here are the Oreo results: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JrA2XdaB8zcTZbNV9
And the Pie results: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HDGmEENdVsPLkdCJ7
It does indeed seem like some improvements have been made, I don't know where the improvements come from, whether it's the newer version of Android or tweaks Samsung have made. It'd be interesting if an owner of a Snapdragon device could do similar tests.

Those are some interesting results across the board. It is clear that Samsung has done a fair amount of optimization although the SD845 is still faster in most of the benchmarks according to Anandtech results.
Thank you so much for the detailed time and effort that you have put into running the benchmark tests and uploading the results.
I think you just may have convinced me to go for the Exynos variant in the color that I want, knowing that the performance has improved to within reach of the SD845. :good:
I wasn't really trying to convince you one way or another but to be honest, I'd say the colour of the device is possibly more important, you're looking at the device every time you use it but the performance difference between the two SOC's in real life is pretty negligible.
Exynos version has a stock call recording feature. Snapdragon not. This thing it a most important for me.

korea!
yeah i know but of those threads, i would of thought that at lest once would an issue come up. i also had a note 8, same deal, n950n pristine device. no one ever complained. but again as you point out, might be simple probability
one thing to consider, if the devices were not targeted to as a big population as the F's or U's( no pun intended lol ) then quality control might have been better because they simply produced less and... Maybe they produce nicer phones for themselves...lol you don't chit where you eat as they say.
edit
for what its worth, i had started a thread about note 9 issues:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/how-to/note-9-country-origin-vs-defects-t3841388
I wouldn't bother with any of that. Get a note 9 from whomever offers the best warranty would be my first choice of criteria.

So i have now the note 4 ...i know old runner
But it's amazing phone
And of course i need to upgrade
There's a deal for note 9 for about 660$
But the problem it is exynos version
I can't make a decision
I wanted the snapdragons version it's not available any where i live
And there is no option expect the (one plus 6t) and it is near the same price
I think every advantage go to Samsung
The display the camera The mic the vibration motor
Just the processor is the advantage to the OnePlus and the 2gig of ram
But again it's exynos and i read allot of thing about the performance and the battery drain withe allot of benchmark and test
I play games ((pubg)) especially
Can you advice me ..?
How is the phone after pie update?
And did you play games...how was the performance ?
I consider my self heavy user
I don't know what to do i think my head is melting ....these a big thing to me i don't change my phone offen
And Samsung was good with me in the note serice
But the SOC is very frustrated
Thanks and sorry for my English

If your budget allows you to spend more, you can get a Note 9 with a Snapdragon processor from eBay (imported from Hong Kong) for around U$700 - 800 including shipping. If you are fixed at $660 then there really isn't anything to consider, just go for the option (Eynos Note 9) that you have available to you now.
I think its clear from the results posted earlier in this thread that the performance of the Exynos variants has improved with Android Pie and isn't trailing too far behind the Snapdragon variants anymore. Battery life has also improved a lot since the launch of the S9 series with the same SoC.
As stated in earlier posts, the real-world performance difference is very small. The Eynos 9810 is still very much a flagship SoC and is more than capable of delivering top performance in the games that are currently available on Android. Coming from a Note 4, your new Exynos based Note will feel buttery smooth while delivering plenty of value in other areas as well. (Battery life, screen quality, features like new Bluetooth S-pen and wireless charging, camera image quality etc..)
As a side note, the Exynos variants seem to be getting updated to Android Pie with One UI already, while the Snapdragon variants are still waiting.

Thank you very much for answering
I think you convince me to go with note 9
I can't order from eBay it's out of my budget
I think the performance gab between the two has decreased now after pie update
And i care allot for developer community in the long way
That's what makes my note 4 useable until now
One thing i can't keep out of my head
There's a phone half the price of mine with faster SOC and better game play (pocophone)
But as a package
I will go with note 9 exynos and try to forget :victory:

Question Should i upgrade to P7

Hi
Thinking about getting P7.
Some unclear topics:
1. Is it runing warm in simple use(yt.fb,browser)?
2. Does it support tap to wake and widget to lock screen?
3.Does it have widgets on screen available for mobile data, hotspot, wifi?
4. Is its camera step up compared to others flagships?
5. Does it have adds like xiaomi has in prei stalled apps. Is there bloatware? How many gb free when just opened& booted up?
6. Any bugs?
No don't, my p6p runs so much smoother and has double the performance due to the GPU, the Mali G710 on the p7 is more towards battery saving, but I don't see a difference in battery, 100% stay with p6 or p6p, the only upgrade you get really is software related

The GPU is only a slight downgrade in the P7, stop being so overdramatic. There's obviously something not okay with your 7.

I upgraded from a Pix3 so it's a lot faster with a lot better battery life for me. I use mine more like a phone, texter and email checker than a gamer or social media user and I use about 40%/24hr day.
1. Not running warm
2. Yes. No.
3. Kinda. It has widgets for settings shortcuts to these areas but not actual toggles/indicators.
4. I think the Google camera on this platform is excellent
5. No ads in preinstalled apps that I've seen but some would consider the Gapps as bloatware compared to AOSP
6. The fingerprint sensor/experience stinks! You should definitely google that before you buy if you're a big finterprint user.
I am using Mi note 10 now, looks like will wait till Xiaomi 13 will be available.

I'm not good with the CCP but both Pixel, Samsung and Gookill Android have been degrading these phones for the last 3 years.
No expandable storage, many only have 128gb internal storage and 6-8gb of ram. One member has a thread up complaining of only 4hrs SOT with their P7.
Between scoped storage, 5G and the variable refresh rate display they tanked the SOT. For what? This Note 10+ with a degraded (and smaller) battery that's do to be replaced gets more than twice that. Dual drive 500/1000gb with better color accuracy.

It's not just Pixels that suck; Samsung's overpriced new flagships are expensive hand warmers too. If you don't care about having a variable refresh rate display and 5G, get a new or used N10+. New ones are loaded with Android 10... don't upgrade it. Security simply isn't an issue in this case. A better balanced phone with excellent build Q and a solid workhorse.
Both Google and Samsung now are more marketing hype talk than action. That's my opinion. No trophy unless you earned it.
If your phone hw is powerfull, then it will be hand warmer in winter.
Other issue is PWM, some flagships(Mi 12t as example) declare 1920 pwm, but in lab tests it is only 120hz(info from notebookcheck review).
My another option is Xiaomi 12x( good hw, not heating, pwm high, good battery stats), but not available via carrier e-shop. Xiaomi 12 powerfull hw, heating issues and also lower battery stats). Lets see how Xiaomi 13 deals with heat, pwm, etc.
F###k no more security patches for Mi note 10 pro and also no miui 14:

Some redmi 9t even will get.
Strange move from Xiaomi.
I upgraded from the P6 to the P7. (I wasn't looking to upgrade, but when Google offered $479 for my P6 and the P7 was on sale for $499, it was a no brainer).
The P7 is hand down more fluid than the P6. It "feels" faster than the P6. I was actually surprised at the difference because I wasn't expecting much difference between the two.

same feeling and the fact that its getting smaller was a no brainer for me...I upgraded from 128gb p6 to 256gb p7 for 100 bucks....It'll be crazy not to take...
I honestly thought somebody at google did some wrong math and giving peopel this crazy deal...but then again its google...they are rich enough for me not to feel bad.
In what country Google offers such deals to exhange p6-p7?
It was in the US at least. However the trade-in values have already dropped and the sale prices end 12-24-22. So while you can still get the phone on sale, you can't trade in your P6 for $479 anymore. (I just checked and Google is only offering $150 for the P6).

U.S but not anymore...I just exchange a p5 for p7...p5 was giving $400 and they gave 100 off for cyber monday
In Germany I got 350 euros for a apple iPhone 8 plus and payed 570 euros for the pixel 7.
Liked my pixel 6 but got a cracked screen due to bicycle crash and a new screen would have been 190 euros
