S8+ Verizon Model No Wireless Fast Charging Option - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

I just brought home the new samsung wireless charger last night. Upon placing the phone on the pad I checked and there was no fast charging. So I went into the advanced settings under battery and found there is no option for fast wireless charging, only fast cable charging. I contacted Verizon and Samsung and neither one could tell me why. Verizon said Samsung might resolve in future update, Samsung said it might be the carrier (Verizon). I researched other forums and found that some phones had it, and some didn't. I'm running the most recent update Verizon has pushed out. Anyone else running into this?

I just checked and I have that option. Currently have QD9 update (latest) on my Verizon phone. I purchased directly from Samsung but it is the Verizon model.
Here's what I found (S7 forums but may still apply):

1: Make sure your using a Oem Samsung charging cable.
2: Make sure your using a Samsung Oem wall adapter
3:Make sure your using a wall outlet and NOT an extension cord or extension cord with multiple outlets and step 3 was what got mines working properly. Hope this helps.

Apparently it won't show up until you use a Samsung compatible fast wireless charger for the first time.

You're using the OEM cable but is the part that's plugged into your outlet (wall adapter) fast charge capable?

Does it show up under "accessories" in your settiings?

Yes. The new wireless charging "pad" came with a wall charger that specifies "fast charging" and a supported usb A to C cable.

I looked yesterday and did not notice it. It was resting directly onto the pad when I looked for the wireless fast charge option under battery and could not locate anything.

There's actually 2 ways to get to the fast charge section on the S8..GO TO SETTINGS> ADVANCED FEATURES>ACESSORIES>AND YOUR THERE [& ALSO] SETTINGS>DEVICE MAINTENANCE>BATTERY>ADVANCED SETTINGS(3 DOTS ON THE TOP RIGHT CORNER) AND YOUR THERE.. hope this helps because on my S8+ fast wireless charging works automatically I didn't have to do anything.

In the settings under Accessories I see it. I have the Samsung OEM fast wireless chargers and am using those and they work fine to fast charge wirelessly.

Try using the Search feature in the Settings menu and search for the word Fast, that is how I found it.

As mentioned before, it did wireless charge, just not wireless quick charge. No searches were successful. So after the recommendations earlier yesterday, placing the phone on the wireless charger plugged directly into the wall outlet (not on power strip in my valet) did it work. Immediately after placing it on the pad, it indicated wireless quick charge, went to the battery advanced settings and it is now there. Thanks for the recommendations and the help. Cheers!

I have older Samsung fast charge stand plugged in an APC surge protector with 8 outlets and it does fast charge. Maybe it was something about your power strip.

question about new wireless charger

i got the new (circular) wireless charging station from samsung as well with s6e. i was wondering if i can use the advance fast charging that comes with the phone on the wireless charger to have it charge my phone wireless faster.
or will it damage the charger?

I don't think wireless charging will be any faster no matter what 5v USB adaptor you use as the wireless pad will only put out a set current, but I used the adaptive fast charger that came with the phone and to give you a rough idea of it's speed it topped my Edge up from 24% to 97% in about 2 hours. Quick enough for me and way faster than my old Nexus 4 on wireless charging.
While we are on this subject, would it be harmful for the phone to be wirelessly charging and plugged charging simultaneously? Would it do nothing, charge even faster, or overheat and damage the phone? I dont plan on trying it, just curious.

I would imagine that once something is plugged into the USB port (charger, OTG or whatever) wireless charging would be disabled as a safety precaution. This has been the case on other devices and I assume the same would apply in this instance.
The new wireless charger from Samsung supports AFC (adaptive fast charging) and it works with the cable and power brick that came with it. Been confirmed online a few times and I can also confirm because it charged my phone from about 5% to 100% in under 2.5 hours. That being said it's still not as fast as just plugging into the wall.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk
Just so everyone knows how it works you can use either the charger that comes with the phone or in the box with the wireless charger. As far as it charging faster the way it works is 50% in 30 mins when connected physically to the wall. On the wireless charging pad it goes up 20% in 30 mins. Now the good thing about it is when the devices charging port goes out you can still charge your phone and it's faster then the old pad they used to use.

This makes little sense. If it supports fast charging, it supports fast charging. If it's "not as fast as just plugging into the wall," then it doesn't support fast charging.
Fast charging will get you from 5% to full in around an hour, not 2.5; which correlates with where wireless tech is right now. Because regardless of whether or not it can support the power input from a fast charging adapter, wireless chargers currently cannot utilize "fast charge" tech. The fastest wireless Qi chargers currently are 5V/1A chargers. That's as good as it gets right now and they're nowhere near fast charge spec.
So regardless of what you may have seen "confirmed" online, the Samsung charger isn't a fast charge device.
I am using a wireless charging and I would comment like "so far so good"
I think you should also try this. !!!

The charging pad for me is a convenience factor. The fact that the fast charging gets ours phones up to 100% in 1-2hours depending on who you listen too is already fantastic. I like the idea of just walking in my door at home and placing it on the pad. Who cares if it takes a little longer that plugged in fast charging. Enjoy the ability of just placing the phone on the pad when you get home and have things to get done right away. Can't believe so much negativity for a phone just released with no development yet such as custom ROMs and kernels to make a beast of a phone, a KILLER beast. Sorry, just too much negativity for me. I have owned every Samsung Galaxy all the way up to this Edge 128GB. Yeah, you can't remove the battery. Yeah, no SD card slot. But the Internal memory is so damn fast, I am no longer in that complaint department camp. As for people moaning that their rear glass magically broke all by itself...I have a hard time believing that. I bought a Spigen NeoHybrid case that covers the back with a nice rubberized well fitting cover. The edges of the case ar metal, so you still have that wonderful tactile feeling of a solid metal phone. Best Samsung phone to date, IMHO and once ROMs and custom recoveries come along, it can only get sweeter. In the meantime, I will get off my soapbox and enjoy a phone that far exceeds my S5 and happily wait for developers to do their magic. Patience is a virtue. Sorry for my rant if it offends those that expect perfection out of the box. Yes, it's a damn expensive phone. So are IPhones. And they had issues right out of the box and their OTA fixes caused worse problems. I rest my case.
EDIT: The help so far from users here in general have been fantastic and my hat off to thos that helped me deal with softbricking my phone from either initially using a root file that didn't work for our 925 models, to showing the way to use Kies to actually restore the full stock image, and to ZiDroid to actually give us the ability to at least have a working stock recovery screen instead of the dreaded black only screen after rooting. And I enjoy using apps that require rooting so as far as warranty issues goes, I don't really care. If I can Odin, Kies, smartswitch or whatever new stuff comes along, then I'm a happy camper. Other here just need to do a little reading and search before posting rants that have fixes already out there posted. Off soapbox again
S6 wireless chargin box doesn't include cable and plug in it. I will buy a new data cable and plug for it. Should I buy adaptive fast charging cable and plug which comes with S6 or can I use S5/Note 3 charger for it? I am asking cos S6's adaptive fast charging cable and plug is more expensive than S5 charger

In Turkey, they give it free with S6 edge as a promotion without cable and plug. What kind of cable and plug does it have? Same as S6 fast charger or classic S5/Note 3 charger?

That's probably why you just got the pad since it was a promotion. I bought both of mine through samsung mobile website and they came with white ones but not adaptive fast charging. The pad cannot charge fast with it anyways.

Fake fast wireless charger?

Hi all, having the Note 5 for a while and decided to get a fast charging pad last night. Everything looks genuine from the looks of it, and it kinda works as well (it does charge my phone), but while charging it says in the notification tray "Wireless charging..." and not "Fast wireless charging..." as in some youtube video. Can anyone with a genuine fast wireless charger confirm if you have ever seen "Wireless charging..." instead of "Fast wireless charging..."? My phone was at 90% at that moment so not sure if the battery has to be lower for fast charging to kick in (like the normal, wired fast charge). Thanks in advance!
Mine would always start with wireless charging then a few seconds later would show fast wireless charging

Mine stayed for a long while as wireless charging (not "fast"). Currently draining my battery to under 50% to see if it helps kicking up the fast charging

I bought a fake on Amazon, returned and bought a new one which is now showing "Fast wireless charging".
The fake had micro usb connector at the wrong place where is the Fast Charge logo, the original one has the connector on the other side near the Samsung logo.

I tried charging by new phone with the included adapter and it did not, I tried a few outlets.
I took the USB and plugged it in an old adapter from my S7 edge and it started charging ,

No problem w/the one that came w/the phone, but,I did receive a Samsung QI Fast Charge stand to where the included wall adapter (apparently the exact same one included w/the Note 7) did not work,out-of-the-box,w/the wireless charging dock (indicator light illuminates for a moment, that's it),BUT,it works just fine when plugged-in with the cord to the Note 7.
Very strange,but true.
All of my other wall adapters,Samsung & otherwise, power up the charging base (Only the Samsung Quick charge adapters enable the wireless fast charge).
So,anything is possible.
There is no such thing as zero defects 100% of the time & unfortunately, you're one of the few that got a bad apple....
It's still under warranty & within the return/exchange window, take advantage of it yesterday...........................
I did have similar issues with small adapter. While using phone connected with my car Android Auto phone would not charge but slowly lose charge. While using original Cable it would charge at 10-15% in about 30 minutes drive.

Hmmm. No problrm with mines.
I order some on ebay (2x for about $3) they both work just fine same as the offical one that was included.

Well ran into a problem.
I try to use my new car chager and the usb adapter. The phone glitch
While it said it was charging it also said it was giving power out.

Wireless Convertible charger - Phone says charging but I'm losing battery still?

Has anyone ran into this? I meant to post it a while back. I've attached two screenshots from Ampere, one with the phone charging normally using the oem charger that came with the phone, which might I add has never had any issues. The second screenshot is Ampere while the phone is "fast wireless charging". The maximum mAH shot up for a second or two then goes down to the low 100s. My phone will actually lose battery on the wireless charger. This is the new wireless charger that has a leather type material on it and tilts up and down. My first note 8 died on this exact wireless charger. I'm assuming it was one of those that once it hit zero the phone wouldn't come back but still.

No FAST CHARGE with Note 9?

I got the Note 8 a few weeks ago and realized the Note 9 would be released to Sprint, yesterday. So, I returned the 8 and pre-ordered the Note 9. I'm still setting it up. but I noticed that it's not fast-charging. That was a selling point that I read . The Note 8 fast charged with the cord but not wirelessly ( I bought a Samsung Fast Charge Qi charger, just for this). The Note 9 is supposed to fast-charge both with the cord and wirelessly. I have searched for the setting and cannot find it anywhere. Any suggestions or input??
Thank you!
Check your accessory setting to make sure it's turned on. My fast wirelessly charges.
AFAIK Fast charging is on by default.

That's what I'm running into. There is no Accessories or Accessory setting group in the Settings menu. The S-Pen is under "Advanced Features" . I even did a search for the words "fast" and "charge" in the settings search box...Nothing useful.
I also put it on my wireless charger and it showed charging at normal rate.
There's a Samsung software update, already. I have not installed it. I'm always leery until I read that people are getting good results with it. Are the Accessory settings are in the update?

Wireless fast charge won't show up until you put it on a wireless fast charger. Then you will see the setting. Despite you not being able to find it, this phone fast charges both wired and wireless.

If your not seeing a toggle for fast wireless charging under accessories than it's not seeing that as a fast charger. Make sure the charger is connected to a USB wall plug that also supports fast charging and make sure you are using the original USB cable or at least a name brand one. Both the note 8 and note 9 support fast wireless and USB charging
Where did you get your fast charger from. It may be a knock off and why it doesn't work like it should.
Just a little update: I did find the "fast wired charging" setting in the advanced settings for the battery (I got there through Device Maintenance). It was turned on and only works with the charging block that came with the phone. Nothing on fast wireless charging, though. I never stated, mine is SM-N906USQU1ARG6 Hardware Version REV1.1
