Do all custom roms available for OnePlus 3T work with every model? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I recently bought a OnePlus 3T (A3010) and i was wondering if most of the custom roms available now (and in the future) would work with this model,Or does the model number really matter when in comes to installing custom roms? Thanks in Advance.

There should be nothing different other than the bands the radio can talk too.

The short answer is yes.

What international ROMs work with N910T?

Before I get started with rooting and flashing, what should I avoid, and what works for out T-Mobile variant? Should I stick to TMO specific ROMs, or can I use something from the Note 4 Snapdragon Development Forum. coming form a HTC One M8 where changing the CID basically made it a generic international model. Do we have the same options with N4?

In the past when I had the note 3 I used N9005 roms http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development . General rule of thumb as long it says N9005 for the note 3 then its a 80/20 chance that roms will work. I had some run perfectly with a few steps, like compatible kernal and patch for wifi/bluetooth/nfc fixes to work. In my past experience with using these roms, i learned that some will work and some will give you problems no matter what you tried. For example a rom i used for like almost half a year worked just fine, then a update to a new version updates and nothing worked. Kernals, patches nothing worked, so i used another rom for a while and then i went back to it recently and everything was working again.
So my advice is read every single instruction the rom developer has provided and make sure you follow it to ensure success. Read other FAQS and use the search button and so on. Most questions you may have, may already been answered by other people who post regular in the forums.
So based on this information, i believe this model is equivalent to N9005 Roms: http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/ca552ee0
So look for roms that run N910s, from the link above it uses snapdragon processor, so hardware and it looks like the bands are close to US ones. So those are the roms that you need to look for.
One more thing I am not 100% sure if that is indeed the correct model to use, maybe im wrong and someone can correct me. Either way good luck and ask away if you have any other questions.

Question on T-Mobile note 4 purchase

Haven't had a note in a while and thinking about picking up a note 4. I am with T-Mobile and would purchase the T-Mobile version, I read about different variants and just wanted to make sure they could all be rooted, custom recovery and flashed without issue. In some of the threads here when people have issues, others ask what variant, etc.
Thanks

Get the sm-n910t (t-mobile version). Very mod friendly.

The T-Mobile version comes with the bootloader unlocked out of the box. You can do whatever you want with/to it.
I just purchase a T-Mobile Note 4 on 11/17/15 from one of their store. The model that I got is the SM-N910T3 and not SM-N910T. It comes with Android 5.1.1 installed instead of 4.4.4. You will probably end up with this model. Does anyone know if this variant is still bootloader unlocked? I also read that the TW 5.1.1 rom has root blocking enabled by Samsung, can anyone recommend a custom kernel that can override this to prevent a bootloop?
T is better for ROM Support VS. T3. T3 may be smooother

You want the T version for more ROM compatibility. The T3 version can be rooted and has a few ROMS but supposedly Samsung changed something in the phone so it has alot less ROM support. It does have root and 1 or 2 good ROM's though.
Root for T3
More info on T3

Did you ever end up buying this phone? I have been thinking about picking up a used one on Swappa to use as my daily driver until Samsung releases the S8 or Note 8. I currently have a LG V10 and even though it has an unlocked bootloater and root, there is zero ROM development for it due to issues with LG firmware/drivers.

Rom difference 128GB vs 256GB?

I'll be ordering a Mi Mix soon and I was wondering if someone can tell me if there is a difference between roms for the 128GB/4GB version against the 256GB/6GB version.
Since these are limited phones there is limited rom development so far. I am guessing some rom development will pick up later but will the 256GB phone be compatible with 128GB roms and vice versa?
Maybe someone can weigh in familiar with a different handset that has versions with different ram size?

I can't speak for this phone, but, the Nexus6 used the same stock ROM from Motorola regardless of storage capacity.
The only thing you had to do to get the storage amount to use (?)/display the correct amount on the 64 GB version was reboot after restoring/re-flashing the stock ROM (showed as 32GB initially).
Good question though, definitely doesn't hurt to ask questions beforehand. :good:

From what I've seen here and on the MIUI website their is no difference in the ROMs. China Stable, China Dev, EU Stable, EU Dev, there only appear to be one irrespective of the RAM/Storage configuration of the Mi Mix
Let us know your thoughts when you get yours and make sure to read the threads on what to do once you get your phone and the TWRP thread.
Good luck
Usually the storage capacity has nothing to do with different ROM's versions. Most important that you install a version that is altered to the Mix

Which XT1921 should I get and where?

Most posts I am seeing about unlocking bootloader and custom roms are for XT1921-5. I cannot seem to find this phone anywhere. Is this the USA variant? The closest I have found is the XT1921-3 (Boost Mobile) variant here
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/boost-...mory-cell-phone-black/6221728.p?skuId=6221728
Would I able to bootloader unlock and install custom roms on this? I'm looking for a backup phone that has LTE 2,4,5,12,13,17,25,26,41,66 bands and this one is perfect but I need to know if I will be able to unlock bootloader and install custom rom.
I can't find any good information about the different variants and what models support what bands and which models can be rooted.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks

I'm just doing "get a free phone from MetroPCS" due diligence so I don't have the phone in hand, but it looks like the XT1921-3 is actually the T-Mobile/MetroPCS (USA) version, which has been problematic for ppl. Good news is that it now has a factory image available (see thread here, although no clear reports on that yet . . . one seems to imply there was a problem with it, but I'm not totally clear).
So I'm not by any means an expert on Motorola firmware, but I'd be surprised if Boost (CDMA, right?) had the same model # as T-Mobile (GSM)--and I'm a little overtired but didn't see any note of the Motorola model # on the Best Buy link you provide.
In any case, not sure about bands and such, but hope that tidbit helps a little, in case you do in fact need something for the T-Mobile variant (-3), or if it's the same as Boost and I'm just a moron.

New Xiaomi user

I purchased a 6/128 global used off swappa. It's set to be delivered in a few days. To be honest, I should have researched a bit before buying because I'm pretty lost. Looking for some knowledge.
I think I understand the bootloader unlock deal, going forward tho are there certain twrp recoveries for certain models? I've read the threads and doesn't seem like any of them are working fully yet, yet I see where people have rooted and flashed other roms so they must work well enough? Are certain roms only compatible with certain models?
I also gather there are 3 different versions?
EU = European
CN = China
? = Global
Yet I see roms labeled eea, eu etc. Basically, I'm just a bit confused and looking for some plain insight.
Every TWRP could be unstable at the moment, but i saw that there is information about compatibility so check the thread comments.
(MI = Global as far as i know)
EDIT:
For global firmware, use this by @randomblame
for chinese firmware/xiaomi.eu use this by wzsx150
I don't know what to use for EU firmware, but i'd try the same as for Global.

With my limited experience with Xiaomi, I wasn't sure if these were common issues or just more so because the phones relatively new. I've been with Android since pre-ordering the HTC/T-Mobile g1 but for some reason, reading on this phone is confusing me. I went with it because of the price to performance ratio and am sure I'll get a grasp on it. Thanks for the reply. My first steps will be unlocking the bootloader and obtaining root, the waiting period is new to me as well but I'm ok with that. I'll most likely want more stock Android but am willing to give MIUI a chance.
