* micro usb
maybe if there's an adapter or something, otherwise it definetly woudnt work

Well an adapter would make it work in terms of charging and being detected by a pc but it would be pointless. One would buy a usb type c cable for faster charging and file transfers, and the adaptor would just deny those "advantages" because the speeds will be capped to the adaptors speed

isnt this already the adapter you are looking for?!
I didnt know this type of adapter exist for the smal USB for the vogue... but looks like it is compatible for the Vogue
the small usb in the vogue is USB-B, it is a usb client, not a usb host.
You can only plug a USB host into it, like a computer. The thing linked in the OP may have a small usb plug, but that doesn't mean it would work.

LG G2 micro USB connector

I am interested if anyone knows the specifics of the micro usb connector used in the LG G2. I am only asking since I mixed up a Motorola Droid usb - micro usb cable last night with the OEM LG cable and thought my 24A update screwed the usb connectivity completely. It was just a cable mixup but it bugs me that the majority of my existing usb cables don't work with the G2. I would understand if the G2 had been shipped with usb 3.0 but it is a 2.0 spec but obviously a slightly different connector spec than older micro usb phones like my older Droids. I like the better connection - more tight and snug feeling with the G2 and OEM cable but I'm not sure what kind of cable to order if I was going to buy more for emergency or travel purposes. Is the new connector usb 3.0 compatible but simply not wired to usb 3.0 transceiever h/w ?

I just picked up a $3.00 USB OTG cable with a fullsized female usb to plug in USB sticks to transfer movies for the guys are work.
OTG is fully supported on the G2, (even shows the plug n pop Graphics of a usb stick inserting.)
Sometimes however it can get a lil finnicky in regards to format however.
I always format my usb sticks on the phone in settings then its good to go.
OK, so the format of the cable is not usb 2.0 micro usb but actually OTG (on the go). I was not aware that OTG had a physical connector change in it's specification, I guess I thought it was simply an enhancement of capabilities of the current micro usb connection. It's wierd how some micro usb cables seem to interoperate OK with OTG and some other don't.
Sorry for the misleading nature of this thread, I simply had a usb cable that went belly up and may have been working intermittently before. I just tested with a plain vanilla .99c usb-micro-usb cable and it work absolutely fine. I imagine the micro usb connectors on these cables can get hosed pretty easily and the G2's female connector seems to be pretty sensitive (some female connectors can be that way

Why is everyone buying a cable?

According to Google, we will be getting these in the box:
USB Type-C 15W (5V/3A) charger
USB Type-C to Type-C cable
So I was wondering why is everybody ordering USB C to USB A cables. Doesn't the MicroUSB cable I already have support data transfer?
Thanks.
MicroUSB is not Type C

No need for a new cable http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-1-Typ...Tablet-/401000332375?var=&hash=item5d5d7b7c57
Great delivery date of up to Dec 3rd!
I will be getting a cable too, I would loose that adapter very quickly.
And of course the reason I want the cable is for charging the phone, my external battery pack only has TypeA sockets on it.

Becuase I like spares and I need to replace all of my micro USB cables with Type-C ones.
I got USB A to USB C cables for my computer and my existing car chargers.

The Type C to Type C can't be used for data transfer unless you've got an adapter or the new macbook which supports the type c connection.
I'm currently on the look out for a cable that is USB to Type C that has the 3.1 speed and can also be used for data transfer.

Have you tried to connect the 5X to your computer? Has your computer recognised the phone? I tried to do this on my mac using a cheap USB A to Type C cable and it didn't work. Kept saying the phone was locked.

Yes, works fine on my windows 10 machine with the A to C cable that Google sells. Already loaded tones into the 5X.

I've read the USB defaults to "charge only" mode, you might need to switch that in the settings first.
For now I will just be transferring my files wirelessly but I might buy an adapter or type C to type A cable eventually if I desire slightly faster transfers or USB charging.

The phone includes USB Type-C which isn't the same as MicroUSB. You can't use your MicroUSB cords because they won't connect to the phone.
I've picked up a couple cables from eBay and have had to return them. They won't even go in the charging port and I am not going to force them in.
So as of right now, I'm stuck with adapters. At least they work.

Thanks!!!! Super helpful, I was struggling with this for a while. Kept thinking it was the cable that was not compatible to do this.

The Nexus 5X does not support USB 3.1, it will be using 2.0, so don't worry about cable spec.
I successfully connected my 5x to my early 2011 macbook pro and was able to unlock the bootloader install twrp and move files with android file transfer.

Did you have any problems initially when connecting your phone to your macbook? I have a macbook pro retina from 2013/2014 and it freezes every time I connect my phone to it. I've tried the Spigen cable I have with my windows work computer and it worked just fine, but every time I plug into my macbook, I have to reboot because it freezes.

Nothing that I was able to notice seemed to take it like any other Micro USB and my nexus 5, except android file transfer didn't launch itself when I connected it like it does with my nexus 5.

same charging port/cable as S4?

i have a galaxy S4 and have just ordered a G4 (standard micro usb). can i use my old car charger and pc data cable, are they the same as the G4 or do i have to buy new ones?
TIA
EDIT: gsmarena specs say micro USB 2.0 for both, so i'm guessing they're the same
With the exception of the new Type-C Nexus devices and a few odd samsung tablets, most android devices follow the same standards (to my knowledge). I think only the S5 had the USB 3.0 plug -- in which case the cable wouldn't work -- so you should be fine.
You can plug a micro usb 2.0 cable into a micro usb 3.0 device, but you can't plug a micro usb 3.0 cable into a micro usb 2.0 device.
But I want usb type-c to replace everything.

That should be a thing of the past now.
USB 3.0 never caught on and will be replaced with USB type C.
That is a good thing as the USB 3.0 end was a hideously huge waste of time designing.

Yes, the micro USB 3.0 connector is just crap. It breaks easily, and isn't particularly small anyway.
I had the S4 and I use the same charger and cable I used to charge it. That charger/cable is old now, at first it charged at 1900mAh but now it only reaches 900mAh. It is ok for a charge during the night. I had to buy a new USB cable that is charging a little bit faster.
I have a quickcharge 2.0 charger and cable that I use in extreme cases where I need ultra quick charges.

Question Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra usb type version ?

is it : USB Type-C 2.0 ?
according to gsmarena it is yet again ver 2.0.
But can you use a USB C dongle to convert to HDMI for output?
Really interested on it

The 10 Ultra has no output on usb to hdmi connector. I tried it as I wondered after coming from a p40proplus which had a desk top mode. I imagine the 11 will be the same as it promotes the desktop app to share it's display like the 10.
You mean in wireless mode?
Yes,USB 2.0
It is still USB 2.0
Such a shame. Imagine transferring 500 GB of data with 30 MB/s rate.
usb 2.0, hahahha~It doesn't deserve to be called “安卓之光”
It's really disgraceful to use the best CPU money can buy , best ram, fastest ufs storage , best display , best charger and then go cheap on something like a USB 2.0 port.....
Someone who thought this was a good idea should be fired....
Yeah, i really don't understand why they put an usb 2.0 port. For a 2021 premium phone it's a nonsense.

I have not received my Mi 11 Ultra yet, but I believe it should work when using a Displaylink USB to HDMI Adapter and installing the Displaylink App on the phone. With USB 2.0 it should work fine for resolutions up to Full HD.
The USB Type-C Specification states that it must support at least the following standards, otherwise a Type-C connector cannot be used:
• USB 2.0 Specification
• USB 3.1 Specification
• USB Power Delivery Specification, Revision 2.0 (3.0)
• USB Billboard Device Class Specification, Revision 1.2
• USB Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.2

I already tried it.
I had to power the USB C adapter then I plugged the Displaylink adapter to the USB C adapter.
It would not work without power.

Usb 2.0 was released in April 2000 and some clown at Xiaomi thought they should still use it in their ultra flagship 2021 phone ....
Words fail me...
I thought Xiaomi devices are 2.1 not 2.0

I use this
CableCreation USB HDMI Adapter(DisplayLink Chip), USB 3.0 to HDMI External Display Graphics Adapter Compatible with Windows 10/8.1/8/7, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DX33L5...abc_D4RSEZX9P70E6V3KSFR4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You need any USB C hub with a USB B A 3.0 hub and PD pass through.
Something like this
USB C Hub - TISOFU USB C Adapter with 4K HDMI USB3.0 SD/TF Card Reader 100W PD, 7 in 1 Type C Adapter Compatible for MacBook Pro, USB C Laptops Nintendo, Type C Devices(Gray) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099WTZGM...abc_R2F1P2X1274TN188EYAV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Then you need to give the hub power and then plug the displaylink adapter and the HDMI from displaylink to your video out device
Open the displaylink app on your phone and then plug your phone in.
Give it a few seconds if it didn't detect replug the USB C hub.
It's a messy dangle of wires but it works
