First of all I don't have an SD card yet for this phone but I think I can help.
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Device Management
3. Go to Storage
4. Go to SD Card
5. Hit the top right three dots (more options)
6. Make choice
I hope this helps; good luck!

[TUT]Partition SD using rom manager

Hello
After running into troubles partitioning my SD using rom manager, i fiddled and found the fx for me!
Problem: use rom manager to partition sd and select sizes, phone reboots to complete actions and then clockworkmod recovery shows the yellow error triangle about signatures.
solution: goto goto install update from sd and then choose the option to disable signatures come back out of there and then goto advanced options then reboot recovery, this will then successfully partition the sd.
as i said i did not find this information anywhere, if it is double post i apologise, i am just trying to be helpful.

not all apps can be moved to the sd card, you'll know you have app2sd, by looking at how much free phone memory you have , you will notice only a slight decrease in phone memory due to dling browser cache, facebook cache or market etc.

How to copy APPs on SD back to phone?

I have about 100 APPs moved to SD. Worked fine until I upgraded to GB. Now my phone stuck in a definite soft reboot if I put the SD card in. I can't even move a single APPs back to phone. Is it possible that I can still copy those APPs back to phone through computer? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Probably easier to flash back to kb2 (rooted) and move them back to the phone. Then, do the upgrade again. To use a computer to move them, you would need to be rooted to use adb to push them back to the phone.
easy.
download titanium backup. open it. press menu > batch > move all apps to internal storage. select all. then run batch.
done.
or go to android system menu > applications > manage apps > apps on SD > select each one with a checkmark. and push the button for move to internal. (takes a while)
Need root for Tibu. No mention of root status by op.
What happens if you insert sd after phone has booted up?
Thanks, guys. My phone was rooted before GB upgrade and rooted again afterwards. I also installed TiBackup this afternoon. The only problem is I never have any time to move a single APP back to phone before it reboots again. I tried both TB and setting without any luck. Looks like nothing you can do before the phone finishes media scanning, but the phone will reboot before or right after the scan. Insert the SD card after the phone finishes booting results the samething.

I guess that's the only way in my case. But I know nothing about the adb pushing . Could you please give me a link showing the detail procedure?

The guide >>HERE<< will help you out with all of your adb needs. It's not as intimidating as it looks, just go through it slowly. Honestly, I think it woulod be easier to flash back to KB2 (rooted) and do it there, then go back to GB.
I am experiencing the same thing as you but on a Galaxy S2. I have tried a bazillion things to try and figure out what has been going on too. I am curious though, what does your phone do with a completely blank SD card?
I have a list of things I have tried and I have definitely found that it is related to the SD card in the phone. My phone also gets far hotter than normal when the rebooting starts to happen.
Just deleted all the files in .android_secure folder on computer. Worked fine now without reboot for half an our.

Keeping a few them on SD still has issue, random shutdown, especially at night. Moving all of them back to phone led to 'phone storage space is getting low' error. WTF. I need to get rid of whole bunch of junks.

[Q] The mysterious case of the disappearing icon

Dear All
Can anyone suggest why an icon would keep getting deleted from the Galaxy Note Home screen after every reboot?
I have GPS Speedometer from Linxmap installed. It works fine but whenever I copy the shortcut icon to my Home screen, it gets deleted after every re-boot. No other app behaves this way. I have asked the dev but have yet to hear from them.
Could this be a bug in the custom ROM I'm using? Hard to believe as only the one app is affected but you never know.
Galaxy Note GT-N7000 + Ultimate N7000 XXLS7 JellyBean 4.1.2v4
Thanks in advance
Trevor

yes it has has to the icons moved to sd. The bug in the latest release of ics I guess has carried to jb now. Hopefully it will not be there in official release.
move to app to internal storage.
I can see the app info but not sure what info I should be looking for.
Total 6.39MB
Application 1.11MB
USB Storage app 5.12MB
Data 164KB
SD cad 0.00B
I have not attempted to change the default installation. I tried searching for the apk file but can't find where that is stored.

just below where it shows SD card , there is a Button.. it should say "Move to Device Storage".. does it ?.. if yes then press it,.and try the shortcut again.. else report back.
I've done that and it appears to work. The icon is still there after a re-boot. Many thanks indeed.
I've never messed with those settings as I haven't yet learned exactly what they are for.
If it's not too much to ask to ask, could you give a brief explanation of these two settings and when/why I would use them?
Ok, I can see that in the case of this one app, it was stored on the sdcard (which I thought meant the internal sd card of the phone) and for some reason this caused it to get deleted from Home screen on re-boot.
Having clicked on Move to Device Storage, I see that the app file has turned up in data/app and no longer gets deleted from Home screen on re-boot.
Sorry for asking dumb questions but many thanks for fixing my problem.

Some apps get directly installed to ext SD card. This causes the app to relocate itself after a reboot. Not only the homescreen shortcut but if the app is placed in a folder in the app drawer screen, it will come out and replace itself somewhere else. this has been found as a bug in the latest release of ICS 4.0.4 and seems its still there in the leaked JB version.
If used "Move to SD card" : all will store the data on external SD card. it wont be visible via the phone exolorer until you remove the sd and connect to a PC. You can use it for saving space on internal storage but the app icon will keep relocating itself.
That helps a lot. Thank you for your patience.

Just to clarify: The app itself is not being "relocated" on a reboot, the app stays where it was installed (SD Card), and you can still launch it by finding the icon in the app drawer.
The problem is that the icon shortcut vanishes from the TW launcher.
I have a work-around using Tasker, but I sure wish Samsung would fix this.

I am in office , so for now only below steps are req for using this app.
Download FolderMount from playstore
1)Click add to add a folder pair
2)Select a source directory that you want to move files from. This should be somewhere in your internal sdcard. Usually located at /mnt/sdcard
3)Select a destination directory that you want to move files to. This should be some folder in your external sdcard or OTG drive.
4)FolderMount will offer to move the files to the destination. Click yes.
5)After the moving process is done, click on the pin. If the pin is green, you're all set.
Note: The files will appear in both the source and destination after pinning them. This is normal as the files that you see in your internal sdcard are actually located on your external sdcard. This is how FolderMount "tricks" apps that don't have the ability to save explicitly to the external sdcard.
I f u are still confused let me know i will create a post with Images .

Dont move complete app to SD Card it will slow down your mobile , only move Data files, anyways Apps without datafiles are too small.
My configuration:
SD card size: 16 GB
Partition 1 (for music, images, etc): FAT32 13 Gb approx
Partition 2 (for app): EXT4 2 GB approx
Partition 3 (swap): 1 GB approx
Hi,
I follow the steps and don't understand why I want a second partition of size 1GB wasted. Why not 200mB instead?
also, I try foldermount on redmi note 4G. the pair seem not running itself after reboot. And it seems that it does not receive a "android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" on boot. Any fix?
You will want foldermount as the big data files of the apps made the big troubles. The free version of link2sd do not move the data file to the external storage.
Please comment.

Titanium backup extSD access issues

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased my LG G4 after finding that root had finally been unveiled! I transferred over my microSD from my Galaxy S4, which was running a v4.4 ROM.
Now, Titanium backup can read the card and restore backups, but it states the external_SD cannot be written to! Specifically, "This folder is not writable." This is using the Filesystem storage provider. I can change the "filesystem" over to Documentprovider, which then makes the SD directory writable, but there is NO protect function available on specific backups. Of course, I believe this to be a Lollipop issue.
There should be a way to have both, right? I've tried changing permissions on directories but have not gotten Titanium to recognize the folder, through the standard filesystem, to be writable.
I'm having the same issue that you are. I haven't had time to try these suggestions yet but go to the link below, on the second page they start talking about a script that someone made that will run every time your phone boots that gives proper permissions. Another person said that they had luck with Xposed Module. Unfortunately I won't have time to try any fixes until the weekend:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349460
I used the SDFIX application by Nextapp and it seems to have worked.
Here's how I granted Titanium Backup permissions to access my sd card.
1) click on menu button
2) click on Preferences...
3) click on Backup folder location
4) click on "Storage provider: External Storage (click to change)"
5) click on DocumentProvider storage
At this point, you may have a menu saying Open from. If so, click on SD card. If you don't see anything, hide the Open from menu (swipe left), click on the menu button at the top right and click on show SD card. At this point, click on SD card and navigate to the folder you want to grant Titanium Backup permission to write to. The select button is at the bottom of the screen. Hope this helps.

You are correct! Thanks!
I looked at that app, but was wary because it mentioned KitKat but not Lollipop by name.
Anyway, I ran the app, gave it root permission, and it did its magic. I rebooted. Success!
Now, in Titanium Backup, it will detect the external_sd card as writable now. However, you HAVE to use the "Filesystem" storage provider in order to get the 'protect' function open. The "filesystem storage - Ext SD card" will work (whereas before it would not write to the directory) but you still don't have "protect" functionality.

This gets it permission to access + write, but I did not see a 'protect' option on my backups when I selected them.

I did this guide some time back to fix the media write permissions when kitkat came out for the first time on CM11 and submitted the fix to cyanogen. This still works with just a line editting. Thanks for the link. I haven't run stock ROMS in quite a long time, so having limited SD access was a new phenomenon for me despite having been on KitKat for a few years.
"FolderMount" from the play store also fixes this.
