Anyone have mobile data issue on Verizon s8/s8+ ? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

I have been noticing some data cut out sometimes intermittently. I get errors that it cant connect to network. Mobile data is on and I am in Atlanta metropolitan area where service is strong.
I do have BK disabler installed. But I do not have anything that looks critical disabled.. I also have been trying switching from Global to LTE/CDMA in network mode.

lousy network

i used this device only for a few days in att and then moved to tmobile.
for those few att days and most time I've been to tmobile i get data fine.
but most of the time i really expect data, i see 3 or 4 bars and the 4g lte icon but i can't connect to anything. gmail emails never arrive. speed tests fail. etc.
at work this happen almost everyday. i can solve it by enabling airplane mode and then disabling it. i can see it connects to another tower.
but today it was weird. my wife note2 that should have crappy 4g on tmobile (it has att channels) was connecting fine. my motox had zero connection. but 3 bars.
i tried airplane mode trick. nothing. tried 2g nothing. tried 3g. data! i could see most sites on Firefox and run speed tests. but every google account sync failed (didn't test ssl sites, now that i think of it)... i think that i should blame on whatever tmo was using on the 3g tower for it's data connection... but anyway, why should the motox have worse 4g/data connectivity on tmo than a note2 made for att?
i do have xposed now (without touching any radio setting) but i saw this behavior days ago before i had it. Always writing it off as some bad tower location.
but now it's obvious the radio on this phone is bogus.
anyone have the same experience? anything i can do to improve/debug this?

more investigation on this...
the network tower selection is still crappy. and i guess it's phone software fault... happens on other phones with Qualcomm chips on tmobile at same region.
but found more info on the gapps not syncing. i had disabled mobile network background sync for play store (i don't really need the playstore at all) and that also disabled background data for gmail.
note that the only thing i disabled was the play app. not a single other service or app. nothing else.

Apparently I had to wipe my data partition after installing xposed and/or gravity box.
... My first account logged to Google services fine, but my second one never got background data correctly.
After I wiped my data partition all come back to normal. But that apparently also removes xposed.
Anyone using 2 Google accounts with that set up?

[Q] Data Roaming setting (Off) not retained while Roaming

I hope this is in the proper forum and hopefully the question has not been answered yet. I did a search and have found some threads but not this exact question.
So anyway...I have a Rogers (Canada) HTC One M7 running 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 6.0,
Lately I have been roaming in the USA and have incurred roaming charges even though I set my Data Roaming setting to Off (no check mark). It seems to only happen when I am roaming. Basically this is what happens.
The Data Roaming Setting is set to Off all the time.
I go into the US and lose data connection as I start to roam. This is fine.
If I turn off Mobile Data and then later turn it back on, I get the "You are roaming and incur charges..." pop up box.
The only options are OK or Cancel
Choosing Cancel keeps the Mobile Data Off
Choosing OK turns ON Mobile Data and the Data Roaming setting is suddenly set to ON (there is a check mark where previously there wasn't) and I now incur charges.
Is this by design? Shouldn't the Data Roaming setting stay off, even if you turn on/off the Mobile Data? I am not sure if this is a Phone Issue, and Android issue (OS or corrupted OS) or a Rogers (cell provider) issue or a Roaming (cell provider) issue.
I am hoping someone can enlighten me on this behaviour.
Thanks in advance.

I guess i am having the reverse effect to your problem, my data roaming keeps switching off.
With data roaming enabled, and network selection on automatic. Whenever I am in a no signal area with my home network provider, the phone should automatically roam on a partner network for mobile network and data network. (I can confirm this works when tested on a few Samsung phones). However on my HTC, the mobile network roaming works (calls and text) but data roaming does not work. It connects momentarily then disconnects and stays disconnected and wont re-enable until a reboot. If i manually select a network (either home network or roaming network) and then restart the phone, the mobile data will stay enabled. But as soon as there is a switch between home or roaming network then the data disconnects and cant reconnect until the next reboot.
I was wondering if this could be a hardware limitation or software limitation.

I personally don't think it is a hardware issue, although it may be a software bug and an issue with the roaming provider. I believe that the data roaming setting gets "reset" once the phone mobile data setting is turned back on on a foreign network. I think that the HTC "sees" a foreign network and does not know what to do so it either gets the setting from the roaming provider or just defaults to a set setting.
In my case, I had lots of support calls with Rogers and according to them, my data roaming settings are probably resetting based on the roaming provider when the mobile data setting is turned back on. I actually video recorded what happens and sent it to Rogers when I was roaming. Once they saw it, they told me that any unintentional roaming charges will be credited back.
They did not tell me if it was a software issue or a roaming issue. However, I also tried the same setting using an old iPhone4S and a Samsung Galaxy S3 and both worked fine under the same conditions. That is, the settings were retained.

3g roaming data not working?

Anyone have issues with 3g data not working while roaming? As soon as I would lose 4g and 3g would come up I'd lose my data connection. Chrome would say no Internet available yet my phone had 3g. Mobile data is on and I also checked the network types and it was set to global. Tried the LTE/CDMA setting as well with no luck. Really don't want to reset the phone. I cannot figure out how to disable 4g at my house to try and mess with it on 3g. I'm rooted. Thanks.

Verizon internet issue

Is anyone else having an issue with internet (4g, not wifi) on their verizon note 8? If I'm in a spot with bad signal and I lose connection, the only way to get it back is to turn off mobile data and turn it back on. I have to do this even when I go back to an area with full signal.
I've had to do it a couple of times. Driving between Vegas and St. George, it would fall back to 1x and wouldn't come back to LTE unless I cycled the Mobile Data toggle.
Well dang, I think I'm going to get a new SIM card and see if that helps

Question Connection problems / Lost connection

Have a Pixel 7 with Stock ROM. I have massive connection problems. There is a Telekom SIM inside and an O2 E-SIM, it constantly happens that my phone has no network connection, no matter what network, that the Internet offline, etc.
Especially when switching WLAN to the 5G network.
Does anyone know these problems and have maybe a solution?

There seems to be an ongoing problem with T-mobile and MVNOs. I don't know much about it except that 5G and Pixels are involved. Until the problem gets sorted out a temporary fix may be to set 'Preferred network type' to LTE/4G for one or both SIMs. Also try disabling 'Mobile data always active' in Developer options.
