Help: FM Transmitter app WANTED - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody!
I want to solve my problem with playing music in a car. I have an Xperia SP and about a year ago, I tested like 10 ROMs in very short period of time and I don't remember names of these ROMs, but I remember that one of these had this really cool app, which would allow me to use my phone as an FM Transmitter. I didn't think it was something special back then, but I could really make use of it now.
I tested it on my radio at home and it really worked. Not many phones have FM transmitter, but some Xperias, as I read now, accidentally have this function. I've tried to google that app, all I found was Spirit FM app which wasn't working for me and I'm sure it's not the app that I'm looking for..
Doesn't anybody have this app, ROM or a tip how I could find it? Any help appreciated

FM Transmitter depends on the ROM support.. AdrianDC has made an add-on for this with CM12.1 but after lollipop, FM Transmitter has been deprecated forever.

Not exactly.
You could use a flashable zip (called addon) which set a value in build.prop which activated the FM transmitter app. It worked not only on L, but also on M. You could also set the value manually. It was something like ro.fm.transmitter = true or similar.
Afaik, this app isn't included anymore in lineage.
But there are two apps which are called Spirit FM, Version 1 and 2. They do exactly what you want.
Version 1 is available for free somewhere on Xda.
Version 2 is a little costly and available on the Playstore.
They worked then, I'm quite sure they still do.

Is there a DAB Radio App?

Just wondering as our phones have a FM receiver.
Wondering if there is a app that receives the signal and converts DAB into audio.
Should be possible i would image as a radio signal is analogue anyway..
Don't want to use streaming radio apps.
As far as i know, DAB means Digital Audio Broadcast - if your device has a digital receiver built in, that would be possible. My HD2 has only an analogue radio receiver. I do not see a way that your request could be fulfilled...
memory serves me correct there is no such thing as a digital broadcast....
All radio waves are analouge?
So if the decoder could be emulated in software?

The analogue FM receiver in your phone can only receive frequencies from 87.5 to 108MHz and cannot even receive the frequencies used in DAB (174-240MHz).
If it was that easy, don't you think someone else would have already done what you suggest?
After all it would be one more advertisable feat of your Handset they would use to make you pay more money for it if they could.
lol forgot about the frequency range..
Cheers for input
Mods could you please close this thread thank you
Actually there is, it is called Wavesink and you can find it in Google store.
Unfortunately it won't work with my car player (It runs Android 2.3.4) Wavesink requiers Android 3 or newer, anyone know of a way to modify the Apk file so that it will work with earlier versions of android?
From what i have read you could modify the AndroidManifest.xml file inside the Apk but i don't have the knowledge to do that,
This programme will work with a dab Usb dongle connected to your phone, tab etc....

well cynogen mod 7 works. i havent done tuns of testing.
It becomes annyoing having to flash and test every single cappy rom.
That is the main reason why im also asking people to test it using the test app on thier roms post a reply so i can post it in the forum
https://market.android.com/details?...patibilitychecker&feature=more_from_developer
BUT asop or not it doent matter it is just a bluetooth protocol that any custum rom can have.
This looks super cool. I wish I had a playstation. Xbox controllers don't use bluetooth, do they?

im almost certian they use infared. I THINK it would be possible to play with the 360 controller with an ir dongle. sort of like how you can connect your phone and tv and use your phone as a remote. It would need a special app and dongle.

The 360 Control is not IR based. It is RF based, however it is not Bluetooth based, it is proprietary. There is a USB receiver for the controllers but it can not work directly through Bluetooth.
FYI, this has been digested and discussed on many a thread, and just to save everyone a lot of trouble: yes, you must be on CM7 or MIUI to use this. It requires a corrected Bluez bluetooth stack, which only AOSP ROMs have. For Samsung ROMs, the only controller you can use is iControlPad (which you can buy here: http://icontrolpad.com/) to use with the Bluez IME app (from the market).

Request for Stock Music Player and FM Radio

Hello, everyone.
I own a Galaxy S with the latest stable version of Cyanogenmod, 4.1.2.
Could someone upload the STOCK Samsung Galaxy music player (preferably not an old version) and the STOCK FM apk?
I've tried locating them in xda and I have indeed found some, but for some reason they don't seem to install on my device and I just can't understand why.
Thanks you very much for reading this,
George. G.
They wont be working, because they need the samsung framework, which isn't built in CyanogenMod.
Instead of the Radio FM try Spirit FM and for a good music player give Poweramp a try

Well, that explains it! thanks a lot for answering. I installed Spirit FM the other day and it does work. I suppose I'll stick to Apollo for a music player. Works for me..
Thanks :good:

[Q] Bluetooth AVRCP Control Buttons Not Working in LG Stock ROM

Does anyone know a solution for remapping or reutilizing the Bluetooth AVRCP control buttons for a set of bluetooth headphones (LG Tone HBS-700 specifically) on the LG stock ROM? All I want is for the play/pause, forward/previous track buttons to work on my headphones with the SiriusXM app. I came from CM11 and it worked perfectly there. When SiriusXM was playing, the buttons would affect it, and so forth with other music player apps when they had control. Now that I'm back on trying stock ROM, it of course doesn't work because LG's ROM is a piece of junk. Any recommendations?
App in play store called media button router allows you to designate a specific app to be controlled by bt devices.... it's free, maybe that'll do the trick for you

I didn't know about that app! I downloaded and installed it, and unfortunately, it isn't recognizing SiriusXM as one of the music players on my phone. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Maybe email the dev and ask if he'll add it to the app list... couldn't hurt to try.

Not a bad idea. I'll try it!
Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but has anyone found a KK ROM with functional AVRCP play / pause support? Media Button Router is a viable alternative for me on 4.3, but does not work on 4.4. Development of the app had basically stopped from what I see... Thanks for any suggestions.

The only ones I ever found to work are AOSP-based, namely Cyanogenmod, but I'm sure any AOSP-based KK ROM would have fully functional AVRCP support for whatever application you're using, provided the application utilizes the system's audio player.

AA compatible internet radio app(s)?

Hi! Could you recommend an android app that is really AA compatible?
When I searched for it, I got only 2 results.
1st.: iHeartRadio
Since with this app I can't listen to the radio channels I'm looking for, I haven't even tried it with AA. Only on my mobile phone.
2nd.: TuneIn
It looked perfect at first glance, but only on my mobile phone. It does not appear at all in the AA menu, nor is it among the hidden apps.
(So this search result was invalid...)
Replaio radio is a really good one, and also supports AA...
Hi,
Simple radio or calm radio are working fine in AA
myTuner works well with aa and has many usual car radio channels from my region atleast, more than tunein.
I'm using following ones with AA:
Radiogram they are reactive when asked for adding missing radios
Open Radio
Transistor Basic but FOSS (F-Droid & Play Store)
TuneIn IS AA compatible (I use it already for a long time), charm of TuneIn is (at least with Dutch stations), that it cuts the very annoying pre-roll ads with ALL my (Dutch) stations.
As far as I have seen is TuneIn the only internet radio app doing this -and pre-rolls are irritating as hell, when browsing through my radio stations.
Just my 2c
