[Request] Stickmount magisk - Magisk

Hello, I love Magisk and all the modules available but there's one problem, Stickmount will not work with MagiskSU. Could anyone look into getting Stickmount to work with MagiskSU? Thanks!

I second this.

I use this module instead of stickmount, works absolutely fine.

I just tested this on a Nexus 6P running v7.1.2 and it does not work for what I use it for. I use StickMount to be able to read and write external USB flash drives/hard drives/SD card readers/etc that are formatted in NTFS.
I simply plug in a NTFS formatted drive/card into my phone and StickMount automatically mounts it to /storage/emulated/0/usbStorage/ with full read and write access thanks to ElementalX Kernel NTFS write support.
I have not found any other method to do this that is as simple, elegant, and fast as StickMount.

Yep, and that's what the module does, just mounts them at mnt/media_rw it's quick and automatic

It doesn't work. Nexus 6P Stock v7.1.2, ElementalX Kernel v4.08, Magisk v12.0
Nothing mounted in /mnt/media_rw/
Nothing mounted in /data/media/0/
Nothing mounted in /storage/emulated/0/
No toast notification that anything was mounted. No notification tray item. Nothing. All I get is the standard Android System notification saying Unsupported USB drive.
-Edit
I have tested this with Magisk v13 as well and the result is still the same. I also tested 5 or 6 other apps from the Play Store that claimed to be able to mount NTFS drives and they all failed to mount. StickMount is the only app that can do it correctly. But it is only currently working with SuperSU.

Yeah I did. When I tap "Mount" and then select the mount point, the app freezes for a few seconds then the notification pops up and the app returns to the previous screen with the option to select "Mount" again and the flash drive showing Unmounted. It never actually Mounts it anywhere. I actually used to use that app with another device before I started using StickMount. But Paragon it is not working with the Nexus 6P v7.1.2.

One is a free root app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter
The other is a helper for Total Commander, that has in-app purchases: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.tcplugins_ntfs_ro
The root app is the one that I have always used and the one that has the functionality that I want (auto mounting to /data/media/0/ with read/write access) but it doesn't work.
The other app requires you to manually mount the drive each time and even though it said that it works in trial mode and the "Mount" button changed to an "Unmount" button when I tapped it, I could not find the drive mounted anywhere on the filesystem.
So yes, I tried both and neither worked.

Just did couple of tests with different pendrives and it seems the key word here is NTFS, isn't it? FAT and FAT32 drives mount without a fail, but NTFS ones simply don't. You might consider using FAT drives if that's an option? For the sake of getting it working?

NTFS and HFS+ mount

Not to take anything away from ezynow, but the Paragon worked smoothly for NTFS formatted USB. It will create its own Mount point for OTG USB drive formatted with NTFS, so you don't need to worry about typing a mount point in. I am not sure about ext4 though. In order to get rid of the annoying ! and sdcard image atthe bottom, I could suggest the solution given by ezynow; i.e. keep a small partition (1Gb say) with FAT and the rest with NTFS (?)

I think you may have other mount points assigned from other apps, which may be putting the tab 'run in circles'. I think the best bet is to ensure all other similar apps are uninstalled and try it again. The only sure way of knowing if no other mount points have been added is to re-install the stock ROM. Please let me know if this does not work.

Nexus7 using FolderMount with Stickmount in CM10.1.3

My nexus 7 is a 8GB wifi version, so I want to mount usb storage for huge games like ASPHALT 8 or Modern Combat 4.
The rom was cm10.0 stable, which was android 4.1.2. Both foldermount and stickmount working well.
However, when I updated the rom to cm10.1.3 which was android 4.2.2, there were some problems popping up.
Someone says that the problem is because of adding the multiple users and the emulated storage.
There are three situations (Here use DeadTrigger for example)
#1.FolderMount with no Stickmount:
System will automatically mount the usb storage and the path is: /storage/usbdisk/n7game/obb/dt/
Then I used FolderMount and set the path as target, started to transfer files, lighted up the pin in green. Everything seems to be good.
However, when I started the game, it said that I had to download 90mb of files that I had already done.
So #1 doesn't work.
#2.FolderMount with Stickmount, the path is in the emulated storage:
Setting the target path in FolderMount as: /storage/emulated/0/usbStorage/sda1/n7game/obb/dt/ which is the path Stickmount sets.
After transferring files to usb, I pressed the pin but didn't turn to be green. Then I started DT, still asking for downloading datas.
#2 failed again.
#3..FolderMount with Stickmount, using the path as /storage/usbdisk/
This time I set the target path as /storage/usbdisk
After transferring files and lighting up the pin in green, I started DT and it worked!!
And I have tested using the format of NTFS, it is no problem with Stickmount, can be fix with ntfs-3g and display well. However, the FolderMount seems not support it. I tried to transfer with FM but failed. So I format the usb storage as fat32, and working well till now.
I don't know why, but this is my experience, so I shared it. :cyclops:
And sorry for the poor English
Thank you for sharing this. I have been considering trying something similar.
Dude thanks a bunch!
I gave my nexus 7 (2012) a new look and more. Thanks for the information, it gave me an idea of what route to take to finally be able to extend my storage.
a note about foldermount

To actually be able to transfer multiple files, I had to select the path with foldermount but move the files manually. The app kept overwriting my previous file transfer. So far it's working. :victory:

NTFS support for OTG drives.

I've found that Zenfone 2 has native support for NTFS and even support write! It has kernel module and even tools to check and format for NTFS.
But strangely, NTFS support is blocked in vold (auto-mounting service). I've made patch to allow NTFS volume mounting. This patch is not 100% safe because it doesn't check NTFS volume before mounting. So, it checks for exFAT (and mount if succeed) then check for FAT/FAT32 (and mount if succeed), and then blindly tries to mount NTFS (it will refuse to mount if it's not NTFS but won't detect errors if they exist on disk).
how to install:
1) You need root.
2) unpack attached archive and replace /system/bin/vold
3) set permissions 755 (rwxr-xr-x): chmod 755 /system/bin/vold
4) reboot
Patched vold is compatible with Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML, ZE550ML), Zenfone 5 (BETA Lollipop FW) and probably other Zenfone versions.

Main purpose of OTG is support for so called "USB sticks". HD drive will require additional non-portable external power and may be special Y-cable which will prevent drawing power from phone (and use external power). So, this will be the main problem of using HDD (Not sure about power consumption of 1TB flash drive and if phone can power it). You have to be careful. Don't overload USB power provided by phone. If phone has not enough overload protection, you can damage USB port.
As for disk size, it shouldn't be a problem because it's handles by Linux kernel.

Yes.
I won't be at home till end of June, so i won't be able to test NTFS usb drive, but exFAT usb and internal SD card mounted without problem.
may be restorecon command execution required after vold replacement (to restore selinux attributes). Depend on how you replace it.
Mine works fine with OTG cable on a Lexar 64GB USB stick unpowered, no issues. You do need a "Y" OTG cable to run an external drive though, they are cheap on eBay. No need to root your phone to do this.

sorg there is a mistake in ur instructions
ur instruction made the sd unusable..[but pendrives, internal works and ntfs works]
we need to change owner and se context
to have sd card working

Is it just a matter of changing the owner/group or did you edit the vold itself? If so, can you upload it somewhere so I can grab it? I share my pendrive(s) between a few different devices and the only file format that works on all of them is NTFS.

I'm not sure if ntfs will work or not, I'm almost certain it will not, but I haven't tried it. I'm only suggesting fat32 because that's what mine is. When I plug it in, an icon shows in the status bar for just a split second.
Edit: Just seen your edit. I have no idea why either. I can't imagine anything being wrong with it, since it works fine on your computer? Will twrp recognize it? (If you have twrp installed)

there is nothing on the disc at all so twrp must just list usb-otg by default and it won't let me select it either

Just to make sure, for it to mount in twrp, you do need to have the USB plugged in before twrp boots. Twrp does list usb-otg by default. When it's working properly it will show the amount of free space in place of the 0MB.

ok yes, i definitely had it correct then. had it plugged in before going to twrp.
essentially, i bought a return at a low price off of Amazon warehouse. i don't understand how this thing could be fine in a pc or my chromebook, but it definitely will not show up on android. it must be defective. it would help if there were a light or something on the flash drive to show when its connected though.
i just tried it in my galaxy mega and it didn't show up either.
so i'll return it and try another one. i appreciate you trying to help.

Yeah I guess it might be defective. Maybe try another fat32 formatter? (Probably won't help any) I used 2Tware to format mine. Good luck anyways though!
I don't see any mention in this thread of EXFAT. I say this because I was having problems just yesterday (coincidentally) with TWRP 2.8 not recognising my OTG USB formatted as NTFS. Although TWRP showed the NTFS USB in the backup destination list, I couldn't select it. When I formatted as EXFAT, it worked in Windows, Lollipop & TWRP.
Method - Windows 10, Tools, Format - dropdown box select EXFAT.
(I believe that Stickmount provides an extension for reading & writing NTFS USB volumes, but that doesn't help for TWRP.)
Give it a go - nothing to lose...
I found I had to install Stickmount to mount my usbotg drives. I did install the supplemental files that allow ntfs and it works fine to mount/unmount external memory including an external 750Gb hard disk. [Edit] Didn't try with TWRP.

OTG drives and backing up Nexus 6

Since we don't have an SD card slot, I am guessing a lot of folks are using OTG arrangements.
Anyone using an OTG drive with their phone for backing it up and shuttling media files back and forth?
My main need is for an external destination for backups, but I would also like to store a bunch of music for swapping off and on the phone.
I have an older small (16GB) OTG drive that I used successfully on my S4 and G2 and G3, but the Nexus does not seem to want to show the drive when I attach it.
Is there a trick to making it work or is there some hidden setting in Titanium Backup to make it visible as a destination? Is there a "best" file manager to do this?
I am rooted with TWRP and running stock MMB29V.
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
Update: I installed Stick Mount and it mounted my SP OTG drive and I was able to browse it, etc.
Once I did that, Ti BU could actually see it as a destination and I am happily backing up to my (older, smallish) drive.
Now, what bothers me is the dang drive is hot as hell and that can't be good!
Anyone familiar? I only have the one OTG drive so can't see if it is the drive or the phone.
Thanks again.

Thanks for reply.
As I said in first post "running stock MMB29V"
All stock Marshmallow, except rooted and TWRP installed.
Kernel is what came with that I guess: 3.10.40

I do use OTG drives to back up my stuff. I use a 1 TB Western Digital My Passport Ultra to back up with. I prefer to use an OTG cable with a power slot so it can use pretty much any storage medium. I can't use it now because I keep getting Error 255 when it executes createTarfork. Wish somebody would help me with that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/twrp-error-255-t3357541
