O preview for hh - Nexus 5 Developer Discussion [Developers Only]

If anyone else out there is crazy enough please reply my build is ever closer to finishing.Maybe we could exchange errors?
Reason for trying is simple making it easier for when O gets its release Yes l know it's preview 1

Do you mind sharing the build for testing purposes? Good job man!

The build hadn't completed (my build is ever closer to finishing) l am still trying to work through the errors.l posted here wondering if anyone else is trying

It won't work. It's released only for Pixels and Nexus 5X/6P, not similar hardware or anything.

Btw, O is availble for ARM64 devices, without source code it will be very hard to even build it without errors

I am just asking l know it's hard l know what it was released for, l mean no disrespect but please give me some credit.Saying it won't work nice one cheers thanks? at 30% so far

As much as i want to be optimist i believe that this will be just a normal 7.1.1 version, just like in the past the builds with n-previews tags used to be 6.0.1.
But keep up the work :good:

Yup, as @Sashko98 said, building from source code it's a no go, Google will only release the code when official released will be launched.

I'm currently building. Visit my github > github.com/regalstreak/local_manifests and clone it into .repo. First you need o-preview-2 source. Then try building. I'm currently working on it. Should be done in a couple of days.

Ics sdk port

I'm seeing a lot of devices getting ics sdk ports or atleast starting to(in pre alpha stage) I was wondering if anyone wanted to attempt that on our d3s because it doesn't look like we're getting cm9 soon because were not even officially supported for cm7.

The Nexus will be out before the month's end, and the source code will drop in the following 2-4 weeks. If someone built it from SDK, they'd have to start it all over again after the source drops.
ya but that means source wont drop till xmas and then by the time someone has a working build moto will be releasing there official build so it doesnt really do anything for us

It might be a fun exercise, and fun to play around with, but sdk ports are buggy and wont have the framework that really makes up ICS. It would basically GB + some ICS features/apps, since all we have access to is some apps and what they ask for

I hope no one is wasting time working on a port from a Software Development Kit (SDK) emulator "ROM" that is incomplete and lacking. SDK's are for app developers to test, not for ROMs to be be made.
Once the source hits....you'll have a better chance of getting ICS, AND a much better and complete ROM.
I really hope no one is working on an SDK port "ROM" for the D3.

Just to be clear, I'm not working on an ICS port from the SDK. Sorry :/
While I applaud jellydroid13's enthusiasm, there is still alot of work to be done getting the D3 to be more AOSP friendly. This includes working on getting the audio drivers working correctly, BT updated, overlays which don't have PBUNDERUN events every 30 seconds, camera routines to iron out, etc.
Fixing these issues in Gingerbread where our kernel matches up with the source, gives us a better chance at then migrating working source to a true ICS port later.
There is also a fairly sizable kernel hurdle to jump as well.
Just my 2-cents.

If this is what I think it is, a port of the recently released Google vanilla s4, then this should be interesting. Granted, there are proprietary drivers and software for touchwiz devices, it might not be as exciting or feature laden as tw, but it is certainly something different. No, I was too lazy to read the link for clarification.

Actually, they're two separate things.
I just got the new build box up and running so first order of business was making sure PA and AOKP build properly.
Those builds got posted this morning.
Next I'll be working on the Google Edition stuff to see if we can't make a pure AOSP ROM.
Also curious at the kernel to see how it stacks up versus what CM is already using.

Like anything else I work on, too many factors and especially this one needs to be looked at carefully.
For example, the file released by JBQ looks awfully similar to what Samsung OSRC normally releases.
But when I asked before - well, can we build with that? - the answer was no.
Reason being we need things like the proprietary binaries that are up to Samsung to release.
I'm going to start by what JBQ said to do:
1) Make a clean AOSP repo
2) Drop their changes on top of that repo.
3) Add kernel - which I still want to compare to the source used in CM.
Anything else I may use what was pulled for CM (such as vendor blobs) to fill in the gaps.
We'll see if this plan of attack works or not.

Serious question,
Aren't they violating the GPL by not posting the kernel source yet?
Or is the assumption that they are releasing it soon so all is well?

I really peeved at Google right now, and I REALLY hope that this is nowhere near final code. Google disabled translucency for the N10 AGAIN. Either Google somehow doesn't even own their own product and are building blind, or they're just incompetent. There was no performance loss at all on 4.4, yet the disabled it because it "performed poorly." Same with ART, but I don't think Google can get away with that on L(unless they're like "screw you manta, no default runtime for you")....Sorry, I'm in rant mode right now. :silly:

They only released source for GPLed code changes and only those that were in the L preview build, everything else was filled in with a recent snapshot from the Main branch. I don't think that building this source branch would even allow you to recapitulate the "full" L preview build on either of the supported devices.
Anyone tried compiling it? Does it finish?

Hi there.
The source in the Android Geeks story is the message Google sent to developers recently saying Android 5 will be released to consumers on Nov 3. What that means in reality is anyone's guess.

I don't think you're going to see one. The closest you'll get is to port the Pixel's 32-bit apps over to the Nexus 6, since none of the Pixel's 64-bit firmware will work on our device.

To make a 32bit app of a closed source 64bit app? No love is enough to achieve that.
So if you want Pixel on you Nexus, you'll have to buy a 64bit phone, either the 5X or the 6P.
