Zvd tot now available - Sprint LG G4

You can downgrade from ZVF and ZVE without getting hard bricked - no worries. (No guarantee for future updates higher than ZVF).
If you use this to upgrade from ZVC or lower, you cannot go back down lower than ZVD or you will get hard bricked.
File works fine in LGUP. Don't ask me how to install or use it - there's plenty of that already on the forums.
Happy flashing!

But LGUP is way less work
Plus, I don't think it would give you the DLL anyways. I created the tot myself using software to pull the partitions from another phone and compile everything together

Is there a possibility of using this tot file to create a more updated MellowMallow installation? I think MellowMallow is currently based on the much older ZVB version.

I have no idea. You'd have to talk to the ROM dev. I doubt it though.
I'm sure a flashable ROM zip could be created, but that would require a custom recovery in order to be installed.
MellowMallow is in TOT form IIRC but the problem is that there's no root method for ZVD

Noob question, but what is the benefit of downgrading from ZVF/ZVE to ZVD? Will I be able to root or tether without root? Thanks.

Nothing really. There have been a few probs i guess on e or f. Which now having a compatible tot can possibly fix that. Soft brick from bad firm flashes

You can flash ZVD and then OTA update to ZVE and then ZVF if you want. Very easy process

Lol.

Brother this tot works for the LG G4 LS991ZVE ?? I await your reply thanks

So has anyone actually flashed this TOT to confirm it works? The structure seems different from prior TOTs and the entire extracted TOT (via WindowsLGFirmwareExtract) is smaller than even a compressed version of ZVB's system image. Either this TOT is missing too much critical data to be used for a full restore or it's incompatible with the only decompilation tools I can find. Either way, as it is, it's useless for creating custom (Mellowmallow-style) ROMs.
EDIT: Maybe the tools I was using weren't accounting properly for the different structure. I did a bit of tweaking with LGBinExtract and managed to pull out a full system.img. Still haven't actually flashed the TOT to downgrade my ZVF phone, though.

I didnt look at the file structure. But 1.6 gb is the file size which is typical for g4 tots.
Anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5

I've just flashed this rom on a LS991 with ZVE with lgup but i dont know if i am doing something wrong, when you flash a tot like this, the phone must restore to factory defaults? or when a tot is flashed the phone just do an "upgrade" ... In my case I used this tot to install from stratch a new rom, cause im stuck in the setup wizard :/

I have not found a way to extract the embedded files either. This is used with a Verizon only tool that is readily available. I wouldn't recommend flashing this unless you brick or destroy your phone (as a last result).

LGPNST does not support this device yet that I know of.

Hi,
this is the factory soft provided by LG to update VS910.
[LGDP2V42]only_VS910_20110430_download
but this soft need a protection dongle (need to be attached to PC) to run. LG Service Centers have this. It will be intersting if someone can find something useful from it.
I don't know if it works or not but...
http://www.mobile-files.com/forum/showthread.php/1384-How-load-TOT-file-with-LGNPST-LAB.1.2
So i guess in LGNPST, you just click browse, then put *.* in file name, hit enter, then select your .tot.
The problem isnt getting the software its the fact that unlike motorola the lg program requires a device specific .dll file so without that file the flash software and firmware are really of no use

These are files that can be used to truly factory restore your phone. If you had a custom rom installed, this would put you back to stock.
You use Motorola's RSD Lite program to flash to your phone while it is in AP Fastboot mode.
This will work on locked bootloaders because they are signed files from Motorola meant for flashing in this way.
EDIT: As Pzyduck says above, these are official firmware not leaks
Don't flash AT&T on Bell or vice versa, you may get trapped because of secure versions.
(btw. I know, it's codenamed qinara, and not dinara, but meh, too lazy to fix it )

On 2 accounts we wouldn't be able to do this.
1) The phone will only take signed images for system in AP Fastboot. There are sig checks on flashing and on boot (we can assume this, we can test more obviously since we have FXZ backups).
I didn't want to test flashing a rooted system dd'd out before because we had no FXZ's to test. Now that we have them it might be worth it to try it out. Worst case use these FXZ.
Rooted system.img: you can get the entire partitions here which includes it: http://crackflasher.com/dev/mattlgroff/MB886.ATT.en.US/AtrixHdPartitions.zip
Be extra careful flashing things you do not have backups for...
2) The system.img.ext4 file inside of these are not only compressed, but appear to be encrypted as well.

Patch DLL to be compatible with LGUP (US Unlocked Model)

Attached is a copy of the LGUP_common.dll extracted from the US Unlocked LG V40 model. I was wondering if anybody had knowledge on patching it so it would work with LGUP. Currently when it is used, LGUP runs into DLL for V405QA11b is not installed properly. Please, install a DLL package(*.msi). for the model. I just want to run a fresh restore on my device. The DLL version should read 1,0,38,3 as it does in LG Flash Tool.
If someone manages to patch the dll or modify it that it does work this might open up the possibility or closer to the possibility of rooting as well

No this is a separate issue. LGUP simply does not work with the V40 DLL from what I have tested. Even the V30, all LGUP needed was the LGUPc.dll file extracted from the kdz renamed to LGUP_common.dll and placed in the model/common folder of LGUP for it to work, however for some reason with the V40 it seems to not be the case. It should be some HEX editing to the DLL (I would try to look into it and do it myself if I weren't so busy), to make it compatible with LGUP. Rooting is an entirely different matter. The US unlocked V40, at least has the ability to boot into fastboot, which leaves the possibility of LG opening the ability to unlock the bootloader. Once that is done, then all we need is a TWRP build, which honestly is the least of our problems. As for the other variants, it really depends on a vunerability being found that can be used. Currently I am downloading the other two firmwares that were posted, seeing if their DLL's have anything that may solve this, but the download speeds for those two KDZ's are painfully slow, and I don't think I will be able to do anything with them up to at least this weekend.
So the us version the t mobile version of the LG v40 can be unlocked and rooted?

If you notice no V40 model has the unlock code as of yet, that im aware of the US Unlocked B&O version is the only one with Access to the Bootloader/Fastboot area the other models that try to reach it just get a normal reboot...but they still need to release the unlock code for them to use.
You can also checkout my thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v40/help/root-t3878148/ Where everyone seems to be chiming in

Well if you have it try the button combination to reach it or via adb on PC but if you get a normal reboot then you don't have access

I am pretty sure we use a hex editor and find all instances of partition dl and switch all the values to true i think only bcheck is false by default and add store in front of the dev thats just my theory its a lot of work to do but if someone wants to try you can. I might be wrong there is no info anywhere about patching dll's and also changing value to true changes size of dll i dont know if that matters or not.

I see. I was going to see the differences in between the old DLL's that worked straight from extraction and this one which doesn't to see if I could "patch" it so it would using IDA pro, but I'm pretty busy and haven't looked into this stuff before so yeah also kind of reluctant on wasting time, like as you said there really isn't much info on this stuff. But because flash too, an older tool than LGUP, recognizes the dll and its versioning. So there must at least be some similarities or if its the worst case scenario it only shares some version variable.

I can probably end up finding one, as I have most the V30 KDZs for the H933, and I think there are patched DLL's lying around XDA, but the problem here with the V40 DLL is that it doesn't work straight from extraction of the kdz. The first step is to get it working and then the second step is getting it working with the dev options.
Hello everyone. Any updates in the correct DLL for LGUP V40? Thanks

I was going through the dll in hex editor and i notice there was an error code saying something about lgup version lower then 1.16 so maybe the key is getting newer version of lgup. the problem is 1.15 isnt even accessible.

Have you tried editing that check? I honestly was more or less waiting on an official bootloader unlock, but it doesn't seem like thats coming for the US Unlocked model...

@theelite @awireless , I'm not sure if you have given up hope on this, but I have the information you need on how to do this. A good friend of mine from China sent me something he found on how to flash a pie KDZ to the LG G7, but the document was in chinese so I couldn't really understand it, but I noticed it detailed the process of how to unlock LGUP in the same way you wanted to enable cross-device flashing, etc. I've done my best to translate and consolidate the document for ease of use. If no one has the time to do this, I will get to it when I have time off from work.

That is very awesome nice to know that information but the issue is with the dll of the firmware this is how to patch lgup to let all the options appear we already have the options we need the dll to work.
I really wanted that info though that's really good to know.
Do you still have copy of the Chinese version?
