Huawei P9 update to Nougat - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

I recently tried to update my P9 to Android 7 using a tutorial from HTC Mania which has worked for many people on that forum. The phone was branded (Movistar, Spain). After following all the steps I ended up with a de-branded phone but it was still EMUI 4.1.1 Marshmallow. It says I have HW EU but the Kernel is: C900B181 Build No: EVA-L09C432B181.* Where have I gone wrong.* I was advised to post the question here by HTC Mania (KrAzYtHeBoY). Vendor info states: Vendor and country file does not exist. Any help would be appreciated.

Vendor info states: Vendor and country file does not exist.
For the above. Did you flash the c432oeminfo.zip(spelt something like that) in recovery? If not then the custid is probably mismatching with the firmware causing a number of software related issues.

Yes. Here are the steps I followed after unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP. It's a translation from Spanish but in think you'll get the gist.
1. we will need unlocked Bootloader, TWRP Custom Recovery and be in Android 6.0
2. Download oeminfo_c432.zip and copy the .zip to the phone's internal memory
3. Download the official Firmware C432B136 extract the "dload" folder and copy it to the microSD external memory (memory is not worth)
4. We turn off the phone and disconnect the USB cable
5. Turn on by pressing and holding "POWER" + "Volume up" when you leave the logo Huawei release "POWER" and keep "Volume up" until the logo 'TWRP-Team Win'
6. Touch "Install" and select the file "oeminfo_c432.zip" zip and slide for flashing.
7. If everything is OK and not given any error we will continue.
8. let TWRP main menu and touch in "Reboot > Power OFF" to turn off the terminal
9. With the terminal off, press all at the same time "volume up" + "Volume down" + "Power" until that is installing the firmware (and we can now release the buttons)
* we will see a screen with red letters warning, not do case and keep the keys, volume up and volume down until you see the screen "EMUI" installing the update.
10. correct once the installation will proceed to update to the C432B182
starting we will ask to do a "Factory Reset", we do "Factory Reset" and turn on the phone.
To know that CUST is the correct open Phone Dialer and mark: * #* #2846579 #* #*
should appear: Vendor: hw / Country: Eu
Note: to flashing official firmware of Huawei the BOOTLOADER will be blocked and the TWRP is lost. (go to the developer options and disable "enable OEM unlock" so that all this 100% of manufactures.
I should also say that after I had finished it did show Vendor: HW/Country: EU but after doing a factory reset the phone seemed to be bricked, being in a loop where I was asked to enter my password to decrypt the phone and it just kept saying 'Decryption unsuccessful. Eventually after trying different button press combinations I got the phone to boot. Also, what is B181, I can't find any mention of that build anywhere?. Do I need to start again from the beginning? I new to all this so thank you for your patience.

Thanks. My phone was de-branded when used the tutorial from HTC Mania, but presumable it won't hurt to follow your recommendation from the beginning? Also fastboot states that the bootloader is unlocked but you think it may be locked from when I flashed the incorrect firmware?

Soft-bricked Huawei Ascend P7?

I have tried to root my Huawei Ascend P7 L10 phone, using Root Genius and also Kingo Root through my Windows PC.
The rooting has not been complete, something has been messed up on my phone.
When I try to enter recovery mode (volume + and -, and power), the led slowly blinks green and red, and the screen shows this message:
"Unfortunately boot failed, get more information... (Chinese letters) ...shutdown/rescue mode..."
After choosing rescue mode, the screen says "...Phone unlocked"...
I have several times tried to collect information on how to solve this, but the threads contain bits and pieces and partly tutorials/videos.
I would like to find a complete step-by-step tutorial on how to deal with this problem.
Also I have read that I need to install ADB, SDK, this and that, but it's hard to follow the instructions from beginning to end.
Can anyone help me with this?
Have you found a solution?

What is your firmware version?
As far as I know that you could try to flash stock recovery and boot image and then download a compatible firmware for your phone and then force upgrade it which would solve the problem.

@jonnynordhus, i've already helped someone with a similar problem, try this:
Download B852 official ROM and copy it to root of your SD card to a new folder "dload"
It should look like this "/dload/UPDATE.APP"
Extract UPDATE.APP (on your computer) using Huawei Update Extractor (all files)
Go into bootloader (Power + Vol Down)
Now open command line and use ADB (Android Debugging Bridge) to send following commands to your phone:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.IMG
fastboot flash boot BOOT.IMG
Now force update by turning off your phone, and turing him back on while holding all 3 buttons pressed down.
When screen comes on release the Power button but keep holding both Volume rockers pressed down until you see an EMUI logo.
If for any reason it fails to install, go back into recovery and do Wipe data/Factory Reset, and than try again.

Noob with Huawei phone - 2 issues.

Hi,
I got a Huawei phone to play with and I tried unlocking the bootloader and installing a new ROM.
Got root with rootking. Can't install SuperSU.
1. I unlocked the bootloader via unlocker.
Whenever I try to install TWRP recovery, The recovery doesn't load up and the device restarts.
I have tried 2870 and 3000. nothing works.
Flashed stock recovery 2.3 back so I will have a recovery on the device.
What seems to be the problem?
2. The phone's build is P7-L10V100R001C00B125.
Custom ver. CUSTC576D125
I would like to update to the latest version.
What version can I update to ? I've read so many posts and I can't understand if I can update to P7-L10C900B852 (via a full image file) for example.
Do I have to change the custom ver. or not ?
Please explain the rules about the build number and the custom ver.
Thanks in advance
J
Can someone please help?
I'm still working on it and I can't figure out the problem...
@jamses, try this method that i came up with,
Download B839 official ROM and copy it to root of your SD card to a new folder "dload"

Can't enter recovery mode after installing TWRP

Hello everyone,
I bought a few days ago the Honor 5C and decided to root it. So I installed the TWRP (Nemo) using "fastboot", downloaded a ZIP of SuperSU and placed at the root of the internal storage. But when I try to enter recovery mode by using "adb reboot recovery" or by pressing the Volume Up + Power buttons, the phone vibrates, displays nothing for 2-3 seconds (not even a black screen, the screen is completely off). After that the "Honor" logo is dispayed for less than a second then the screen "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted [...] Your device is booting now..." with no option at all.
The problem is that this screen stays forever and never displays the recovery mode screen. If I entered this mode using the physical buttons, I can just press "Power" for a few seconds and then it reboots the phone normally. But if I used "adb", each reboot makes the phone entering again the same recovery mode that doesn't work, so I use the Volume Up + Power key while the phone is connected via USB to my laptop to enter e-recovery mode, then reboot normally.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem ? I really want to root my phone but I don't know what to do for now.
Thanks by advance for your answers !

Are you on EMUI 5 (Android Nougat) ? If so, official TWRP is not compatible with version > EMUI 4.x for now.
I'm using EMUI 5.0 / Android 7.0.
So now I've installed an incompatible TWRP can I just downgrade to EMUI 4.0 / Android 5.0 then flash it again and root my phone or should I reflash the original recovery before doing that ? I've read somewhere that updating a rooted phone could brick it so even if mine has just a TWRP and want to downgrade instead of upgrading I prefer to be sure.
Thanks by advance !

you need install original recovery and extract update.app from B100 firmware, then you place it to "dload" folder in your sd card and flash using 3 buttons. you cant full brick by messing with root. only soft brick which is fixable.
Ok I'll try it. I will post again if something comes wrong.
Thanks a lot for your help
I forgot to ask about one thing : I'm owning a phone with NEM-L51 model and I don't know if I can use NEM-L22 firmware ? If I can't, where can I find the right files to downgrade this specific model ? All the firmware files I see on the web are for the NEM-L22...
EDIT : I've found the B102 firmware for NEM-L51 model (Europe + UK) can I take it for the downgrade or is the B100 specific version needed ?

Thanks for your help but this doesn't work. When I do what you say it goes again and again to the same warning screen which never disappears. This is really strange, when I see videos I find on YouTube all Honor 5C owners that just do what you say enter in recovery mode, but it's not my case... I really wonder why.
I don't know if that can help you to understand, but I'm using a french Honor 5C phone, with EMUI 5.0 / Android Nougat like I said previously, model is NEM-L51 and I did the Android Nougat update several days ago using the Honor's official update application, which is natively installed on the phone.
About the firmwares, I've tried the B102 version for the specific model I own but each time (I downloaded the update ZIP several times, the first one with two folders named '1-main' and '2-vendor', the second with just the 'dload' files) the update stops at 5 purcents and says "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package."
What can I do to solve this problem ?

When you do Volume Up + Power it attemps to enter recovery mode, not recovery (that's what I read), excepted if a USB cable is plugged in (which is not my case). And that still doesn't work.
However, I'm able to enter erecovery mode by turning on the phone with only the Power button, then holding "Volume Up" as written on the screen (there are 3 boot options that shows up, but only when I boot normally) and I enter erecovery mode. But I can't do anything interesting in this mode, just download the latest firmware (which fails at each attempt, even when I'm connected to a working WiFi point), shutdown or reboot the phone normally.
Shoud I show you a video of when I boot my phone in normal mode / recovery mode / erecovery mode ?

The problem is that I can't enter recovery mode, each time I try to install an OTA or full update package from the /dload folder on the SD card it fails, so I can't downgrade at all. Do you know a link that sure points to the good update package version for the Honor 5C on EMUI 5.0 in order to downgrade to Marshmallow ? I've found several links during my searches but I don't know if the installation fails because of a phone's bug or if it fails because of an invalid version.
EDIT : I forgot to precise the long model name of my phone : NEM-L51C432B350. On Firmware Finder Rewrite it shows that there are only two update packages for it, published on 20.04.2017... So I wonder if I need to download the three files shown in the filelist of the big update (1.68 Gb) and install them on the device ?

Stock recovery wont have an option . There is no graphical UI for installation.
Downgrade or update is just a manual procedure.
In order to roll back , u need to install a roll back package and then the origional MM package . Using the three button combination

Ok so in the guide I found on the same page I linked in my previous post (the guide is hopefully written in english) it says that the phone must haven't been rooted or even unlocked, so I prefered to relock the bootloader (and completely reset my phone, for the third time at least in two days).
But then I realized I would need to have an unlocked bootloader for the flash so I unlocked it again, but now the device stucks on "Your device is booting now..." with no option at all whatever I do, whatever the buttons I push... I'll really start to think I'm simply idiot
I'm searching on how to solve this new problem and unbrick the phone... 'cause I can't even shutdown it, the "Volume Up + Power" combination while USB plugged in or anything else doesn't work this time.
EDIT : Okay so my phone seems to really be hard-bricked. My phone just stays at the screen "Your device is booting now..." with no option at all, I can't shutdown it, I can't enter recovery or erecovery mode. Does anyone know what to do or is my phone definitively bricked ?

hi there
I have problem with my phone
want to flash a custom rom on it and nothing knew about Ome lock and frp lock
wipe my phone with factory reset and now cant boot my phone because it need my google account and I forgot that my id Even cant flash custom recovery!
please help me I need my phone
On YouTube there should be a tutorial to help you, sure you find it because you only have to do a bypass.
If it says with red letters on top of the screen "FRP Lock" or something like that.
DONT BE AFRAID, i had that once and i almost thought my phone got bricked.
Steps:- 1) Press Power and Volume Down together
2) When it turns off, quickly press Volume Down, Home Button & Power together
3) It should go to download mode/odin mode
4) Go to updato.com, download your model firmware and odin
5) Flash it via odin (Put the firmware in AP) (Odin will freeze for a couple of min)
6) Start and wait
7) Done, you have a brand new phone (could possibly wipe data)
Atleast, thats what i did

[RECOVERY] LineageOS Recovery for F700F

This has been tested only on my F700F model. Others may not work including US ones which are bootloader locked(unless you pay for an unofficial unlock, then it might* work).
It will 100% not work on the 5G variant which is an entirely different phone.
Disclaimer: While i use this on my own personal phone, there are so many (thankfully reversible) ways one could mess this process up. If you choose to install this, i'm not responsible for anything you do with your device.
Installation Guide:
Step 1: Unlock the bootloader
WARNING: ALL data on your device, including apps, settings and files in internal storage, will be lost. You do not need to repeat this if you didn't re-lock your bootloader.
1. Open "Settings"
2. Turn on "Developer mode" by going to "About phone" -> "Software information" and pressing "Build number" for several times.
3. Go to main menu of "Settings" and at the bottom you will find "Developer options"
4. Go to "Developer options". You will find a toggle "OEM unlocking". Turn it on.
5. Skip to substep 8 if your device reboots to "Unlock bootloader?" screen. Make sure the toggle is on and then turn off your phone.
6. With the phone off, hold "Volume Down" and "Volume Up" button, connect your phone to a computer via a cable. (don't use charging only cables)
7. Release the buttons after you see the "Warning" screen. Then, hold the "Volume Up" button.
8. You will see "Unlock bootloader?" screen. Proceed and unlock your bootloader by pressing "Volume Up" button.
9. Your device will be reset to factory settings. Proceed with the Setup Wizard. Only connect to network via Wi-Fi or cellular and skip everything else. (to save time as data will be cleared again later.)
10. Repeat substeps 1-4 to validate that "OEM Unlocking" is on. If it is not, turn it on.
11. Repeat substep 6.
12. Release the buttons after you see the "Warning" screen. This time, press (not hold) the "Volume Up" button.
13. You will see "Downloading" screen. On the top left, there are some important info.
14. Pay attention to "OEM LOCK" and "REACTIVATION LOCK". If both of them are "OFF", you have unlocked the bootloader.
Step 2: Disabling AVB
1. Reboot to DOWNLOAD mode. If you are already in the download mode, skip to substep 2.
2. Download Odin 3.14.4 or newer and make sure Samsung USB drivers are installed.
3. Open Odin and put the vbmeta_disabled.tar into USERDATA slot and click "Start"
4. Your device will reboot but it will not boot. This is built upon into system as vbmeta signature has changed.
5. Your device will reboot into RECOVERY mode automatically and prompt "You have to reset your device to factory settings". Use "Volume Up" or "Volume Down" button to move and "Power" button to select. Confirm and reset the device to factory settings.
6. This is the last time the data on the device has to be cleared. Afterwards, if you don't re-lock bootloader or re-enable the Android Verified Boot, you will not lose your data. Be aware, a stock firmware package contains a Android Verified Boot Metadata Image (vbmeta.img) with verifications enabled. You will need to flash the vbmeta_disable image (put into USERDATA slot) along with the stock firmware (use BL, AP, CP, CSC slots) to make sure AVB is not re-enabled and the data is preserved.
With bootloader unlocked and AVB disabled, it is now possible to boot modified images on the device.
Step 3: Flashing the recovery image
Place the downloaded .tar into the AP slot in odin, and once again with it in download mode, hit flash. Just after hitting flash quickly grab your phone and hold the VOLUME+ and POWER keys. As it reboots it should go into recovery mode. If it boots normally anyway, try turning it off and powering with that key combination. Sometimes samsung's system likes to replace a custom recovery with the stock one which is why it's important to enter it first thing after flash (this may have changed with newer models idk). If it boots into the stock recovery instead, try again.
Step 4: (optional?) Disable encryption
Once booted into recovery, adb sideload the disabler zip and afterwards format data. Reboot the phone and encryption should be disabled, and you can see files in internal storage. If you do flash a stock package that contains a vendor file (super.img or vendor.img) you will need to redo this.
Bugs: none so far

Does this recovery work similar to twrp? For example, can you flash zip files in the same way? Or does anything need to be changed in twrp-compatible zip's to work with this?

they should work, in theory. You will have to confirm the flash when it says "signature invalid", but that's about it.
Some older zips may not work due to how SAR is handled(not at the recovery's fault), and mounting /system is kinda wierd, but it works.
Is it possible to port TWRP as well ? Tgx for great work anyway

So, having my phone set up and rooted, encrypted data I'm assuming on stock, can I flash this recovery without losing data? Or will it factory reset? And finally, will it work with Android 11?

The recovery itself will not wipe your data. Flashing the nulled VBMETA however (which is required) will. As for android 11, i don't see why it wouldn't work whenever it releases.

Thank you. I'll probably get into development on Android 11 or 12, once I get over how awesome this device is on stock (with magisk though obviously). When I do I'll make an overclock kernel probably
Hi, can I flash a custom rom/ lineage os on f700f/ds
Uploaded an updated build for lineageos recovery. This should be overall much better in so many ways, being rebased on 18.1 sources. Should support flashing more packages like magisk, opengapps, and maybe even lineageos builds (that may or may not come soon idk). Atleast these are what i tested.
So can I use this recovery to flash magisk
