Hey there guys, I'm writing in the off topic section about this e-cigarette I've just got, it's called Joyetech Ocular C and it comes with a color touch screen , music player and photo viewer capabilities , bluetooth conectivity, a pedometer to count your steps and from what I understand, it has around 2Gb of memory , it is firmware upgradeable and I'm wondering if there is more that can be done to it in therms of functionality.
It's true that vapers, the people who smoke e-cigarettes as their called, dont really need any of this functionality in their devices since they mainly use them purely for smoking, it's nice however to have something a little extra to go with it.
I've looked online for custom firmwares or methods to customise your firmware for these type of devices, but i've only found info on old devices that come with small monochrome screens and the most you can do is upload logos on to the device.
My interests are on how you can access the root of the system built into these devices since it must have a processor and a file sistem inside, how to edit some of these files , per example, you have the option to upload around 100 pictures and some songs ( the memory on it is 2GB ) but there's no way of deleting them once uploaded, in case your storage gets full.
Also it would be nice if users could implement or extent more functionality in the device, par example it only suports .jpeg files in the photo viewer , .png &/or .gif to use as a screen saver would be nice, more so even video playback capability .
And before I get laffed at for asking so much out of an electronic cigarette, I think that since it does come from the factory with all these functionalities and hardware, it's a shame they dont use it to it's fullest.
So is there anyone having any clues on how to "get inside" these devices and tuning them up ?
I've included the latest firmware I could find for the device as well as the program they offer for you to upload it onto the device. If anybody could crack it opn and take a look inside and see at least what's in there, that would be a start.

Windows Mobile as Camera (DSLR) Remote

Hi all,
I am looking for a piece of software that will let me use my Kaiser as a remote for my Canon EOS 450d / Digital Rebel XSi.
This should be possible, both wired and/or through IR, but I can't seem to find this software anywhere!
I have found a program remote controls pentax cameras over IR:

}
The program can be found on http://gastaldelli.googlepages.com/
or on http://downloads.ziddu.com/downloadfile/1777010/RCFP.rar.html
(more info here: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/33345-windows-mobile-pentax-remote.html)
Also, I have found a program that remote controls Nikon Coolpix cameras from Windows Mobile (wired).
found here: http://www.ruwebit.net/article/81
These programs show exactly what I need! I just cant seem to find it for Canon cameras!
(Other relevant software: http://www.idruna.com/remoteediting.html -> a bit too complicated for my intention though!)
Can anyone help me out with this? Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Would you mind typing the right way up?
In reaction to your post; using a remote would allow for time-lapse shooting, reduces vibration when shooting, etc.
I take it youre not a photographer?
jor3l, hw do u type upside down?
You do know the remotes only cost like $25, right? Probably why no one's bothered to write any software to replace it. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/116234-REG/Canon_2467A001_RC_5_Remote_Controller.html

note0: Obtaind before CompuServe gave us their GUI and from which the OSI deployed www then win95 came with Explorer-IE-Explorer GUI
Test 4 every WinOS: goto my Computer cq Explorer (not IE) and remove c:\* (current drive path) and replace it with a known url Guess what? ... Bwhahahaa; internet access for Win7 Barebone Edition! And *oops* on most if not all WinOS..
-- Of course it is best to log in with a Guest account (created by you the Admin) with limited internet access to only download a nice browser like Opera or Firefox, while using this dangerous 'tweak'. *cough* Plus it comes in handy when IE broke down during an live update and refuses to work. But,.. it's not my recommendation for obvious reasons!
note1: Used since/on win95 ~ABC, Win98 ~SE and WinXP flawlessly!
note1b: not tested; Vista / Windows7 (please let me know so I can include it in this post after an edit TIA).
note2: A tool from my kitchen. Now a share here on forum.XDA-developers.com Please distribute, as its been freeware from day one. Though I never shared it B4
note3: HandleSpy is nice to use in combination with (tools more powerfull than) ResHacker.
note4: It has no network awareness and no polymorphic AI eighter Its WYSIWYG though.
Have fun,
Senax
Where is the installer?
It went into the void of C/P darkness and was temporarily lost, luckily it's beacon was working so I could retrieve it with a tractor beam. Attached now

[HELP] Best app to get on a pc screen a real time image of my Nexus S screen

In order to run demos and project (for large audiences) what appears on the screen of my Nexus S, I'm looking for the best app (not necessarily free) able to do that via USB or WiFi.
Have you addressed the same need in the past?
Any suggestion?
Thanks
P.S. Being able to do that without installing any special software on the pc would be a plus
As far as I know, our phones don't have mhl support, so I don't think that you can do this. However there is an app Team viewer, where you can get your pc desktop on your phone. If that doesn't work maybe you can do a gallery of screenshots from the phone to the pc to show what you want? I don't know, hopefully that helps.
its low res but check out webkey in the market. it has a web based screen viewing function as part of its security features, pretty handy.
Hey,
There is an app called "MirrorOP" in the Googleplay market. Install it and then install "MirrorOP Reciever" for PC. Then you will be able to get your phone screen to PC. In the settings you can change the resolution and quality, so you can incerase fps to 25 fps (on the lowest settings).
PS: your nexus must be rooted

Nevermind. Read the OP wrong.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitmaptest&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5iaXRtYXB0ZXN0Il0.hey, try this. Crystal screen in play store.
If you just want static real-time screenshots, e.g., no animation, try AirDroid (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid). Your phone must have root and grant AirDroid root access to capture screenshots.
This is overkill but if you have the options, it works great.
If you have a Samsung SmartTV connecting to the same network your phone is on, download the app called SwipeIt on both the TV and the phone. You can then use SwipeIt to project your phone screen to the TV.
Thank you all for the kind help.
I really thought this was easier to do.
I tried most of the apps you recommended and they generally require an internet connection rather than a simpler one-to-one connection to the PC (in my case this could be an issue).
I'm now oriented to just record a session, download the video to the PC and play it to demo what I had to demo.

[APP] NookCalc

NookCalc is a basic, four function calculator designed from the ground up for the Nook Simple Touch. It is optimized for the e-ink display. I wrote this app. The top right page button acts as a dedicated clear button, in addition to the on screen clear button and clear option in the menu.

That looks nice, but 840 kB is way too big an .apk file for what this does.
It should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-20 kB.
You have included android.support.v4 and android.support.v7 when they are not used in the least.
You can delete those from your project.
Nice! It's good to see apps written for the nook.
The calculator looks nice and the e-ink optimization is great,
however, since I don't have anything to calculate just now I just did a bit of stress testing to find that:
a) there seems to be an int overflow on really large nubers, it either crashes or warps to negative.
b) I'm not sure what pressing '=' repeatedly is supposed to do (if anything at all) as it gives weird and inconsistent results.
c) it crashes on division by zero (I HAD to try that )
d) Also, to have a useful division function you really need to use floating point numbers.
It's a nice project, but needs some working on before being a useful calculator
Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it. Renate NST I removed the android.support.v7 and it significantly reduced the size of the apk from 837KB to 60.4KB, a 776.6KB difference. I didn't see android.support.v4 in my project. I didn't add any support libraries myself, Android Studio seems to put the support library in new projects and there doesn't seem to be a way to make a new project without the support library.

[Request/Thought] Stock FM radio experience port for N960U?

I know it's been discussed before, but according to the N9600 variant getting root recently, the dev @Mentalmuso made up my mind with his WETA thread unsurprisingly the .apk I've been looking for was there but obviously it's unable to install for being a system thing which makes me wonder:
Since the system partition is untouchable without root (which is not in sight) and this apk has to be placed there to work, flashing it somehow is the only option I suppose.
Just for the clarification - I don't like the Next radio experience at all and I'll name the reasons from top to bottom:
1. No record button - this is the most critical for me. The Recforge workaround which I counted on no longer works here.
2. No RDS. There is a built in database that gathers up information on your current location and names the frequencies to the stations in this area. For people outside U.S.A this feature is useless.
3. No swipe for fast navigation across the dial. Inconvenient manual frequency typing forces me to empty the field then type in the desired value, must insert a "."dot for decimal separation.
4. Only odd numbers are displayed. It may as well pick up the even ones properly (since 2016 it should) but still display them as odds.
5. On screen advertisements - I wish to use a service that is already commercial, why do I need such obstacles in the way?
6. Load times - though quite minor flaw but Next radio has a splash screen for at least 2~3 seconds then it takes a few more seconds from the moment you push the operate button until you can hear a sound, compared to the stock operation which takes almost instantly. Also the seek buttons have a small delay in Next radio.
Again, only the miss of record is really bugging me to the point I consider a switch to N9600. If Recforge did it for me (or a sound recorder equivalent) I could live with the rest. Apart from this I'm completely fine unrooted.
Any idea of how to legit flash this .apk or a new way to record that doesn't involve aux and streaming?
