MIUI 8 Android 7 Safetynet error: CTR Profile mismatch. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x (QSD) - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

So hello forum,
after hours of searching i still didnt found a way to pass safetynet on my Xiaomi Smartphone.
Always the same error: CTR profile mismatch.
i have a Xiaomi Redmi note 4x (Snapdragon) with a modifiert MIUI8 Android 7 Rom (Multirom) on in (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/development/rom-multirom-optimized-miui-rom-t3556187)
after completely deinstalling chainfires SuperSU, i installed Magisk apk and flashed magisk V12.zip. So yeah, its installed and root works. But it still doesnt pass safetynet.
i tried some moduls like "Safetynet Props Mi5" or reenabling "Magiskhide" in terminal app, doesnt work.
Changing SELinux to Permissive or Enforcing is also not working.
So i still cant play pokemon go.
2 weeks ago i had a LinageOS based rom on my smartphone, there Pokemon go was working with root, but safetynet still didnt pass. CTR profile mismatch.
Safetynet Fix 1.9.1 Module in this thread also doenst work. renaming Dev/Magisk doenst work too.
Any ideas how to fix this ?

Don't worry, all of us magisk users no longer pass safetynet today. But topjohnwu already confirmed that the next update will fix this.

surely your Magisk Hide is not working, but share the magisk log to check.

So here is the log of magisk

Yeah, your Magisk Hide isn't working. I updated my module to try fix this problems.

i tried now your newest version (1.10.1) of your module. now its testing safetynet status much longer (2 Minutes). After that again CTR profile mismatch.
Magiskhide is on, pokemon go isnt working yet.

Newest Xiaomi phones doesn't pass SafetyNet with a UNLOCKED bootloader. Just use "fastboot oem lock" command to lock It (If you have a twrp already! You can update your twrp through twrp).
Mi Max didn't pass first but did pass afterwards when I locked it back. But my Redmi Note 3 passes anyway.
Edit: locked -> unlocked

A bit harsh, but it's the truth:
No-one else is responsible for what you do to your device. Always make sure you have the skills need (in other words, so your homework) and a way back if something goes wrong.
If you're lucky it's still salvageable. Go to your device's forum and seek help.

Chill, how Is this even possible. Did you use any unofficial method to mess up with your bootloader? Use Mi unlock tool to unlock It again, Then flash fastboot rom http://en.miui.com/a-234.html

Yes, no EDL mode on Redmi Note 4. How am I so sure about this? Because I have this device, lol.
Xiaomi disabled EDL mode to prevent unofficial bootloader unlock.

it looks like fastboot detected my twrp recovery and my modified miui 8 Rom and locked it.
if i try to boot in recovery or system, there is just the mi Logo for 0,3 seconds and after that blackscreen since i used your command "fastboot oem lock"
the only thing i can do is booting in fastboot mode.
so i now requested a bootloader unlock for my phone from xiaomi and will unlock it with the unlock tool because "fastboot oem unlock" doesnt work :/
i hope xiaomi will write back per sms soon, i need my main phone.
i buyed my note 4x from gearbest with preunlocked bootloader.

There IS an EDL mode There MUST be an EDL mode. Searching the forum and lots of people bricked their phone with locked bootloader and many people told them to reach EDL with deep flash cable.
Edit: an easier method to boot edl http://en.miui.com/thread-536553-1-1.html
also once you get in the edl mode check device manager for "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" in ports. If there is not try reinstalling drivers in MiFlash's options. If it still doesn't work, try disabling Windows signature verification(only for win8 and win10) https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/ho...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
I hope these help to you

"DFC(Deep Flash Cable) is not working after 8.1.15.0 update for Redmi note 4 SD. This method is safer compare to DFC, I recommend this method to be use for normal users.
EDL mode might be removed might due to some security reason, all latest xiaomi Phone has removed EDL, and no longer can be access by using ADB COMMAND." says MIUI forum Moderator CLAYTON_WWC (Source)
So there is an EDL mode but not accesible by the adb command and DFC (after 8.1.15) but there is still a way to access it.

So, finally...I DID IT YES !!
Phone is Working after brick !
Finally bypassed the Bootloader

HELP!! Bricked MI 8 SE

Hello,
I bricked Mi 8 SE with locked bootloader and no recovery... After Mi logo, a message "The system has been destroyed" appears.
How can I flash the stock rom without waiting for unlock permission? Is there any way to enter EDL mode without opening the device?
What you did?
Tried to change from stable to dev with xiaomitool. Now only fastboot is available but it's useless with a locked bootloader. Perphaps I can restore the device with mi pc suite? It's does not seem to recognize the device though

If you can access to Fastboot then you should be able to install stock miui fastboot rom. You can find the rom here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-2-0703-t3812600
Instructions for fastboot installation: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Sorry I overlooked you are using Mi8 SE. In this case you should wait official stock fastboot rom. The rom will be available on official en.miui.com
Hi
I have the same problem
you did not find a solution?
I have already opened the device and tried to download via EDL MIFlash
But it did not work out
the error always appears ERROR: Only nop and sig tag can be recevied before authentication.
and after the "You are not authorized to Download !!!"
In my case, I was able to boot the device by typing "fastboot continue" in fastboot mode (if you see the offline battery charging screen do it twice).

Flash Official ROM A2

Hello all!
I recently bought a second hand Xiaomi MI A2 online however I found a problem.
The previous owner did a factory reset on it but I'm stuck in the initial set up configuration because it asks me for the google account credentials attached to the phone. I texted the previous owner but had no answer.
So I tried to flash the official ROM to bypass the issue but I get an error message from Xiaomi Flash Tool saying "remote: Flash is not allowed in Lock State".
I think this is happening for one of the following reasons:
The previous owner didn't enable USB Debugging (thing I can't do because I'm stuck in the set up configuration)
The bootloader is locked (and I can't unlock it because I don't have the credentials of the attached account)
Does anyone knows how can I solve this problem?
Thank you for your attention

You need to do an unlock of critical partitions - "fastboot flashing unlock_critical"

Thanks. I've tried the MIFlash Tool and I get Error Flashing Not allowed in Lock State. I've also tried the MI A2 ToolKit and get the same message. Basically anything I try and do states device is locked or unable to run in Lock State.
Boot Loader is currently locked and I cannot access developer mode to enable OEM unlocking. Question I have is :
- Can I use EDL Cable to work around this or do EDL cables not longer work with Newer Xiaomi phones?
- If EDL cable doesn't work, is the tespoint method my only option.
thanks in advance

I would try a wipe from the recovery but if that doesnt work then just test point the phone. It isnt that hard, I had to do it myself today because of a soft brick. You just need a T3 screwdriver really. Take out the 2 bottom screws. Take a razor and slide it under the corner of the display and lift it enough the get a credit card in there. Then just work around and you should be able to get the screen off. Take the small metal plate off just above the battery and disconnect the battery and the connector on the right. There will be the test points, short them out, connect the phone to the pc(you can stop shorting out the points when it gets detected) and you have like 10-15secs to start flashing the phone in miflash(obviously you need to have the drivers already set up).
I have same problem with xiaomi mi a2 which had bootloop. Was not able to start device at all so no oem unloco no developer options and no usb debug. It was possible only adb sideload and fastboot. Adb sideload did nothing. I was trying to flash with adb sideload but it stops at 47% with message 1.00 x. Did try several roms with same results. Then i tried fastboot options. Falied to unlock not allowed. Itsl was impossible to get even into phone to activate developer options so i can activate oem unlock and the rest. I tried edl mode which did flash but then i got error message in bootloader it failed to mount system etc. Then i tried mi x6 rom to convert phone to another which doesnt have usual recovery mode but a stripped oem recovery mode. Now when u go back to mi a2 rom its bricked so there is no option of adb at all now. I tried to use mi x6 mi assistant option but app wont recognize usb connection it shows try normal mode then switch. When activating mi assistant on phone it does recognize rom version from recovefy flash in mi assistant app but when it downloads update rom version it cant continue. With pixel you can do anything with adb and it is so easy but xiaomi sucks big time. You cant do anything. Fastboot flashing unlock critical and fastboot oem unlock gets error failed. Flashing not allowed. U tried diferent cables but no luck. So now what? Thats why i hate adb. On samsung odin you can do impossible possible. Even with sp tools on mtk. Even boxes works flawlessly but xiaomi system is just thr worse. It doesnt matter if you get soemthing lost there is always a solution to other phones.
After having device sit as a paper weight for a few months, i broke down and ordered a phone repair kit. Opened device up and flashed via test point method. Worked Flawless. Time to enable OEM unlock so i don't have to open it up again. Thanks to community for all the help.
Use cmd
- go to fastboot then "fastboot oem unlock"
- go to fastboot again "fastboot flashing unlock_critical"
Flash with mi flash
Done
Just stumbled upon this and while may be 18 months too late, here's the step by step process to flash ROM on MI A2 that's giving error "Flash is not allowed in Lock State":
1) switch off device
2) enter fastbood mode (press hold power+vol down few seconds)
3) connect device with laptop
4) install and open adb folder on laptop (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979)
5) within adb folder -- shift + right click = open powershell here
6) fastboot flashing unlock_critical
7) step #6 may be pointless if phone is bricked but do it anyway
8) fastboot oem edl
9) find and download latest stock rom for your device (FASTBOOT version). It'll be .tgz file
10) extract the image folder from within (would be the same name as .tgz file)
11) open miflash (coudln't find link but look it up, it's easy)
12 select the image folder you extracted in step #10
13) click refresh. device name appear means it's recognized
14) from bottom of mi flash tool select whatever you want. I do "clean all"
15) flash (top right mi flash tool)

PLEASE HELP - Device Bricked - edl waiting for device

Hello I have a Mi A2 with ONE.
I tried to install Mi6X following this guide:
Guide
I got to step 9:
9- Click Refresh on Mi Flash Then choose Clean all and click flash
Then I got this error:
Error oem edl miflash tool, ACK count don't match
Then I tryed instead to install Jasmine again, and I started getting this error:
Cannot receive hello packet,MiFlash is trying to reset status
And then I was stupid enough to unplug my phone
THE ACTUAL PROBLEM (rigth now)
1. My phone will start, then stay at Mi(mi.com) logo indefinitely.
2. I can't enter download mode, Vol + and power will bring me the Mi logo again and again.
3. Can enter Fastboot mode... BUT...
-Mi flash don't detect it
-miflash_unlock don't detect it
-edl.cmd, unlock auto, and unlock critical say "< waiting for device >"
Edit: I solved the problem using test point to enter EDL mode, then It connected and I could flash it.

Can it be that my cable somehow magically from one conection to another stoped working or something? I asked a friend for his cable... Cs are not as common in this country yet.

Have you enabled oem unlock ?

Please help, I am really afraid my phone will die permanetly as I can't turn it off and I don't know if it will charge in it's current state.

Mi flash tool won't work with locked bootloader
Install adb drivers and write command
' abd oem edl '
If ur phones connects
Than u can use mi flash tool

I followed this guide to unlock bootloader previous to the guide on flashing of the first post:
GUIDE
The .bat that you run there actually executes "fastboot oem unlock". I did that part without any problem, the phone screen asked for confirmation and everything fine. After succefully unlocking bootloader I followed the guide on flashing Miui 10.
Now even that "fastboot oem unlock" will show this message:
< waiting for any device >

"adb oem edl" brings this error:
adb.exe: unknown command oem
"fastboot oem edl" brings this error:

and
"adb reboot bootloader" brings this error:

(tested everything with the phone in fastboot or the Mi logo)

I didn't, because I got an error when flashing Miui, never got to follow the rest of the guide because my phone won't be recognised by any program it seems...
Thanks you all for the help, I will try with another cable, and if that don't work I will test point this little one. I really don't want to open it... but It seems like fastboot won't connect no matter what...

Please, keep us updated.
I had the same issues like you months ago. The only solution you buy a pentalobe 0.8mm for iphone, a small philips screw driver, and a tweezer. Flash your phone in EDL mode. You need to contact 2 pins. You can search the location of the pins, how to disassemble the phone by googling it. then just flash Mi A2 stock ROM first, then convert it to Mi 6X again. I

Mi9 Global - Accidentally locked bootloader and stock in recovery/fastboot

Hi,
Recently purchased a Mi 9 Global version, got the OTA update to MIUI 11, and everything was well. It is a superb phone, but I like to have root on my phones (mostly for Adblocking and System2, better control overall). I tried to install TWRP (custom version for Mi9) because I wanted to install Magisk/Root or try a different rom eventually. Anyway... I made a huge mistake. After trying to reboot, I noticed things had gone wrong, and was stuck in a boot loop. I guess I panicked and tried to flash the phone back to the latest global MIUI rom (Version 11, Android 10, from official site), using the Xiaomi Flash App but I did not uncheck the "clean and lock bootloader" checkbox on the bottom right of the app, which is somehow enabled by default. The flash failed at that time, for unknown reason, but it seems like it succeeded in locking my bootloader, with an empty partition, except for fastboot access and Mi Recovery module. I have to admit I've always been pretty lucky with all my previous flashes on other devices, and I guess I got a little careless. That was pretty stupid of me, in retrospect.
Since then, I am stuck in either Mi Recovery or Fastboot, and it seems that my originally Global Mi 9 with unlock bootloader has now a locked bootloader. Any attempt at either using the Xiaomi Flash utility gives me an error message ("Erase boot error"), and if I boot into Fastboot and try to flash TWRP, I get the "Remote:Erase is not allowed in Lock State" error.
From what I understand, my options are pretty limited now. The phone is still powered on, stuck in Recovery mode and rebooting every 5 or 10 minutes by itself (probably a way to avoid screen burn-in?), but I can't seem to be able to shut it down in anyway, as there are no fastboot commands to send a shutdown signal. And no matter what button combination I press, the phone always ends up rebooting.
I tried the Xiaomi Unlocker utility, but it needs the phone to be out of recovery to check the credentials binding the phone to my account. All data on the phone has been wiped already, so that's not an option. Two options I have seen :
1. Open the battery cover (required a heat gun and risky), to short some pins and try to flash while there is a short to circumvent the security. I'm not that brave yet, and since the phone is still running and has probably about 80% battery, I don't want to use a heat gun on the device.
2. Shady stuff involving paying 30 or 40 Euros to a random guy who can somehow make everything work magically by remotely logging in on my computer via Teamviewer (Not happening in a million years).
I'm wondering if there is an alternative, other than bringing the device to an official Xiaomi store (I'm in Bangkok and they do have one official shop at Fortune Town), but even then, I don't know if they'll just tell me I got myself an expensive paperweight.
Any help/insight regarding this issue would be much, much appreciated!
Have you tried to press and hold power+vol down when your device reboots? Just before it turns on.

Every possible combination on reboot will either bring me to Fastboot or Mi Recovery. I have wiped the data partition, there is no OS on the phone as of now.

Xiaomitool V2 is completely useless. The "My phone is bricked" option is not implemented, and I cannot boot into the OS, unfortunately.
To enter fastboot mode, long press the volume down key and the power key. Then unlock bootloader with Xiaomi app.

Yep, but it has unlock option in the normal mode and it use scripts made by tool developer, so it worth to try.

From what I understand, the "normal mode" needs the tool to be able to access the OS while it's running. I don't have an OS. I will give it a shot tomorrow (3 AM here, exhausted, and don't want to boot into Windows again!), but my hopes are not so high. Anyway, thanks for the help, much appreciated! Will let you know what happens! Cheers!

Unfortunately, this is not true. I have downloaded an old version of Mi Unlock (2.2.406.5), which is supposed to work with Fastboot mode. The result is "Couldn't unlock --> Please download the latest version". And the latest version needs to access the OS to verify the Mi account credentials. I don't have an OS installed. So this won't work. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I came across this Mi8 thread, not sure if it's possible on the Mi9, but he seems to have been able to flash it through EDL mode, you might ask him the question: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/mi-8-bricked-from-nowhere.55723/#post-543605

Question REDMI NOTE 10S (Your system has been destroyed+ locked bootloader) error

I have redmi note 10s. I bacame bored of miui because of several bugs. So i decided to mod the device with a nice custom rom. I started the process. Because it is a mtk device, it has complicated flashing process than snapdragon devices. I entered the fastbootD mode and cleared the system by using adb command(which i dont remember). Then i flashed the custom rom. By mistake, I locked the bootloader by typing adb command fastboot oem lock. But now due to complicated case, the device is showing your system has been destroyed and when i try to force reboot it into fastboot, it still give systen destroyed error(means fastboot mode is inaccessible). Can anyone please help me to fix this issue without using edl pins? I am in a great issue
I cant go to service center as my device is out of warranty
in google there is a pc program than can unlock bootloader of mediatek devices, search for it
Bro i cant access the bootloader, so unlocking it doesnt make any difference
I want to restore the bootloader.

Okay so first of all download "mtk client"
Than open the mtk client
It will give you instructions on how to connect your phone, take back of everything except system(super),vendor and userdata. Tap on flash tab there you'll notice a option called unblock bootloader tap on it and your bootloader will be unlocked
Bro Will this restore my bootloader or only unlock it because if it only unlocks then your help wont work.

You need to see the PM I've sent to you. You will find it here.
Start from BROM mode - that is always available. Then you can use mtktool to restore everything. I have an article about it on my blog, but I am not supposed to post it here... find it in my profile, or send me a PM for help.
