I think they provide better support, quick Stable update

But do those have customization like rr? I use Nova.

RR is a customized LineageOS with lots of extra options. The launcher however, you decide over no matter what ROM your running. I'm also using Nova on stock LOS.

Lineage OS from sultanxda. Stable, best battery life, best camera, no bloat, not so many unnecessary options

Looks like resurrection remix the best rom. I am using always resurrection remix on all my phones, SGS 2, LG nexus 5x, Lenovo A6000, nexus 10, SGS 7 and now one plus 3t

Ya when I was running it I had some force closes and some lag. But I'm not looking for the "best" ROM BC that's going to differ for everyone I'm just seeing what ppl are running.
I decided to flash sultans linage. I'll give up the customization for stability.

Stock - i used to be a custom ROM guy but can barely be bothered now-a-days saying that ive never been as happy with a stock ROM as i am with OSS.

Yes, it is. Call it what you want: most popular, favorite, best ROM. It's still all just the same question. Everyone has massively different preferences and needs, and your experience will vary drastically depending on how you as an individual use your phone. Asking strangers to make a decision for your is not only useless, it is also bizarre. You clearly already have the knowledge/ability to try various ROMs (as you stated you did). So leaving the decision to something as arbitrary as a stranger's whim (or a ROM's popularity) is just strange.
I'd also caution against using a ROM, just because it's widely used and "most popular". Plenty of times in the past, the ROM that worked best for me, was one that was less popular, and more obscure. You do yourself an injustice by ignoring these "hidden gems".

For the first time after using a smartphone, i decided to settle with Stock ROM. For me, it gives the best UI and a lot of useful options. I don't even need to tell that the Stock camera is far better than any other apps used in other Custom ROMs. Battery is really amazing too considering my way to use the cellphone( Facebook app, the great battery villain is full time here in use).

Bout the LOS, for me one important option is missing, a black UI

Thanks everyone.

ROM Lover
I love trying out new ROM's.
Fot OP3T i have tried Oxygen official, Oxygen Beta, Lineage & Ressuruction.
To me Oxygen beta since May has become really good, improved battery a lot.

Stock is always better

What about paranoid android?

Dear Sir,
If quick update is the requirement, the Lineage is the best and I have to say unofficial sultan 14.1 is the same as he is also quick but If you are installing sultan 14.1 for only battery back up then I think you should have a look with custom kernel such as franco and elemenatlx which are great in battery back up.
But for me and also with some other friends, stock oxygen is the best as camera is the main priority for me. For other features magisk is readily available.
Thanks to all developers for the support time to time.

Best rom for 3T?

Wjat is best rom for Oneplus 3T and why? But I want rom where xposed is working.
No ROM is 'the best'
You have numerous options to test and see for yourself which one suits your needs the best. You can go either for stock (based) or AOSP ROMs, it's all about what you are looking for. Also no choice is bad here - all ROMs for 3T are of really outstanding quality and not a single one will let you down. Just play around for a couple of days, try out different ways to go and pick your favorite.
If it's about me - latest stock rooted with Magisk is just enough. Oxygen OS is supremely optimized and the system is almost pure Android but with all the essential flavors AOSP lacks.
Fully agree with the previous comment. If there was a "best" ROM for everyone, we would all be using it, and there wouldn't be a need for any ROM except that one. What features are important in a ROM, is going to vary from person to person. The performance and stability (often a question "which ROM has the best performance?") is also going to vary drastically depending on how you as an individual use the phone, apply further tweaks, etc.
Your best bet is to browse through the ROMs, select a couple or few that look like they meet your preferences, and flash them, and try for yourself (be sure to make a TWRP backup of your current setup before flashing any ROMs, so you can easily revert); and see what works best for you.

No i don't have, bought this phone on this week's monday. Immediately rooted and flashed twrp, Now I have Resurrection Remix, but it's little bit buggy and not filling my expectations. (Sry for bad english)
I'm looking for a really good ROM, too.
Stability, everything should work fine. Don't want to clean flash every few months.
I don't need to customize every colour of every object. Need a perfect ROM for using it every day.
Any recommendations?
best rom official rr or the one from varun himself (g+)
no rom is the best.
you have to try some of them and choose one !
i tried at least more than 10 roms + defualt kernels and custom kernels.
and compare them together and flashed best based on my usage ! ( your usage may vary and of course other roms is best for you )
but :
if your main concern is not heavy camera usage and want stability + battery + xposed , i suggest you Sultanxda CM13 rom.(which i am using now.)

Which ROM for most settings and customizability?

Which ROM should I install if I want the most amount of settings and ways to customize things?
Some additional thoughts...
Does one even need a custom ROM these days, or can most things be changed using "Xposed installer"?
Are there any drawbacks using a custom ROM?
1. RR is a good choice IMO.
2. More features to play with. Themes. More updates.
3. Xposed doesn't exist on Nougat.
4. Nope except not be able to use full stock features. Stability? It depends on the ROMs and the maturity of the Android version.

Oxygen OS apps (but you can get a port version for Camera and Gallery)
Dark UI (but you can flash a ROM supporting Substratum)
...
I don't remember OOS well and since I have a preference for custom ROMs over stock firmware I can't give you many reasons to stay on OOS. If you want to have the latest Android version, some day you will have flash a custom ROM.

I've spent ten minutes trying to figure out which one is the official (or best) version of Resurrection Remix. Can you point me in the right way?
The one in your signature says it has a pirate-icon if you install pirate stuff. And while I may not do that, I still don't like the idea of that.
So which RR would you recommend?

This is so vague, as it tells us nothing about what features you may be looking for, why you want a custom ROM, etc.
If you are just looking for something different, then sure, go for it. Similarly, if certain features of a custom ROM (or ROMs) look attractive, then go for it. There is really no downside, as unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty. And reversing any changes (returning to stock) is pretty easy as well.
On the other hand, stock OOS is amazingly good. Very little bloat or skinning, but with the right amount (IMO) of customization added. Many folks (myself included) accustomed to flashing custom ROMs to get the most out of their device, have been just happy with stock OOS. But of course, there is always room for improvement, tweaking, etc.
It's an individual choice. Most users of Android devices will never flash a custom ROM. Majority probably don't even know what that means.

Its not just a rom or kernel that makes great batterylife, mobile reception strenght (modem ) and usage (apps, syncing, gaming yes or no) are vital too.
I'd go with FreedomOS or RRemix. Really LineageOS is mostly placebo battery fixes and an overabundance of customization options. Most of the lineage roms outside of RRemix are very unstable or just kinda useless. Hate to say it cuz some devs put lots of time in but Ive always found worse battery life with the same usage patterns on anything but stock.

In the time you've been waiting around for someone to make a decision for you; you could have just unlocked the bootloader and flashed a ROM (of even more than one) and be trying it yourself.
Just make a TWRP backup of the stock ROM (or otherwise, know how to return to stock with the official zip file) and you can easily revert if you don't like the ROM you flashed.
No point in waiting for someone else to tell you what to do. Everyone's opinion and preference is going to be different. Just because someone tells you to flash a ROM or not (or which one), doesn't mean that is the right answer for you as an individual.
Even things like battery life and performance are going to vary drastically depending on how you as an individual use your device (as others have also mentioned). Then also throw in the differences in personal preferences and tastes; and the result is that you can't go by the direction of others. You need to decide for yourself.

I also like Resurrection Remix , but I suppose, it has bad battery life, but I'm not sure.
I've tried a handful of roms... they're all just fine in my opinion but I seem to always end up back on the Oxygen stock rom. I root, but that's about it. I just can't get over how well Oxygen OS is running these days compared to my OP2 ... Just flash and try! You won't hurt anything, and if you do you have a 99% chance of fixing it!

I like Dirty Unicorns very much.
Not so feature rich as Resurrection Remix, but rock solid and stable, with the most needed addons.
Camera quality is also very good.
Custom ROM with MM support and custom Kernel support should be good. Its either Custom Roms with MM support without custom kernel support or Nougat with custom kernel support.
I test LineAge OS from Sultanxda. It's popular for battery life and stability.

Every rom is good in a way, there is no "best"

Have you compared sultanxda lineage with stock regarding battery life?
Resurrection Remix is the all in one package with every feature available. But some people called that bloated :silly:
I prefer stability and battery life and don't want to change every colour of every symbol.
I checked different Resurrection Remix ROMs. Nice, but at the moment I use lineage OS from sultanxda.
1 or 2 updates a month only and everything running perfectly. Nothing to play, but perfect daily driver.
But if I get bored, I will play with some ROMs
Freedom OS is the best custom rom available for One Plus. It is completely based on stock with zero bloatware and it supports essentials like Viper, Ad-block etc. I have been using this for almost 3 months and haven't seen a single issue yet and the best part about this rom is you get better battery life the stock.

They are both great.
If you like features and want to customize every element of the GUI use Resurrection Remix.
If you like not so many features and more stability and battery life use lineage OS from sultanxda.
I prefer lineage OS, but it depends on your wishes.
id stick with stock. Ive tried lots of others and anything lineage based is pretty terrible. I know they put a lot of work into the OS but its not good. You always sacrifice something when using it, for me it was being able to use my recent apps menu, gps accuracy, battery life, multiwindow lag weird kernel intrusions such as frequency locking, overheating, random slowdowns, random inputs and speedups that just zip past every input ive wanted to do and does the last 10 things at once, scroll lag, touch lag, it goes on and on. Stick with stock oxygen, its the OS that was made especially for the 3/3T. The only thing wrong with it is some translation issues. But theyre funny because you know what they got wrong. For example you will never see the word "Okay" in stock oxygen it is always "Yes" its funny.

This questions is so vague, as to have no answer. There is no "good" or "bad", just what fits the particular individual. Plenty of folks are happy on the stock ROM, and plenty of folks are happy with any of the custom ROMs, as well. Everyone has different preferences, needs, usage patterns. You don't make any mention of your specific preferences or requirements. Even if you did, it's not that hard to read through the ROM threads, and just decide for yourself. No stranger is going to make the right decision for you.

freedom OS is one of the best can customize your setup and its lightning quick. um running the OB8 version with franko kernal and few mods. Battery life is insane.
LineAge OS from Sultanxda is working perfectly. Stable, great battery life.

Best Mi Mix ROM Currently Available? (Advice)

Greetings Forums Members,
I thought I'd make a post here and get your opinions about what ROM to use. - I'm currently running Resurrection Remix from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...esurrection-remix-04-09-2017-t3587049/page420
So far everything seems to be running really well on this ROM, but before this Rom I was running Stock Rom with Marshmallow, then updated to nougat MIUI 9 or something like that and I really hated it... So I wiped, re-flashed the original Marshmallow Rom using Mi Tool. I then decided to install TWRP and Root my device and keep it on stock MM. It was really good and treated me well for the longest time. Eventually, I got bored of it and decided to try out some custom Roms.
I wanted to ask you all which Rom is currently the best Rom to use for the Mi Mix, would really appreciate some advice here. I'm mainly looking for something with good Battery Life and Fast/Smooth Rom.
- Thanks

AICP, It is the best and I think that besides Epic rom and Lineage that it is the only good one that is still maintained.

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed response.
I'm currently using Resurrection Remix (ROM) - What are your thoughts on that? I personally find it to be really good because of the many feature it has included in the (ROM) - For example; you can really customize the (ROM) however you see fit. I find that to be the most appealing thing about the (ROM).
I'll be sure to give some of the other (ROMS) a try before settling on this one. I have yet to transfer all my dad over anyways since I've only been testing it so far. I'd like to make sure that there aren't many flaws before I settle.

Speaker switching in phone call and proximity sensor both work better in AICP, probably not a deal breaker, weekly updates and soon Oreo which there are a couple already.

I'll be sure to give it a try and see how it is. I decided to settle with RR now but I should definitely try out other (ROMS) before completely settling with RR since its the first custom (ROM) I've tried. I must say though that RR is very stable and has no flaws. Battery life is also very good.

RR hasn't been updated in months and likely won't be. AICP is the closest in terms of functionality (lots of config options etc) and is still updated weekly. Also, Oreo ROMs are starting to land (finally) so you might want to try those. I just built AICP for Oreo yesterday and I'm running it now. No major issues so far.

I asked for permission to release it unofficially, at least until they start releasing their own official Oreo builds. Hopefully I hear back soon.

I appreciate your advice here Gavin. I'll be sure to give AICP a try, it sounds very interesting.
- hopefully we'll get a chance to see you present your hard work with the 8.0 Oreo (ROM).

Awesome. Thanks for your input.
I've tried several ROMs that you've all recommended except for Viper. So far in my opinion I'd have to say RR has been the best in terms of speed, reliability and battery life. However, I'd like to give Viper a try as well just to see how it is in comparison to RR.
What version is it currently and what are your thoughts on Viper ROM ?

ViperOS is dead. Hasn't been updated in months and likely never will be. Rumours of an Oreo update hang on an article/video in Brazilian (where the team lead is/was based) showing it running on some device.
If you want to stick with Nougat for now, go AICP (more configuration options) or Lineage (closer to stock AOSP). Nougat ROMs are the only ones with custom kernels as yet too.
None of the Oreo ROMs are without issue for now, although they are minor for the most part. Another 1-2 should be along soon to add to Pixel Experience/Cardinal/RR/AICP.
I'm using @gavin19 's unofficial RR Oreo ROM. Love it. There are some minor issues but they shouldn't deprive you from trying it out. I strongly recommend it

Awesome. Thanks for reporting here and letting me know. I'll definitely be sure to give it a try and see how it is.
As I understand there's not going to be an official Oreo update for the Mi Mix... It sucks bit at least we have custom ROMs to make up for it and that is amazing!!!!!!!! I hope we get it working good real soon!!!!

Ya I need to try Crdroid, as I am on AICP and i havent really had any issues with that rom it works great and I can customize it like I want.
I am very excited i saw that ViperOs has figured out the Oreo 8.1 and has released a few roms, im hopeful someone will find a way to get that working for the Mi Mix!!!!
I think the best rom ever made for xiaomi mi mix is the Xiaomi.eu MIUI8 Stable v8.5.4.0
Reasons:
~ Unlike all custom roms, the miui uses the whole screen and has real rounded corners and not software made ones which makes the screen look better!
~ The MIUI 8 for MI MIX includes a gesture to hide the navigation bar and have a full screen in any app that you want, you can easly control it when ever you want, best rom for full screen exprience when ever you want! also when you do swipe to hide the nav bar the apps use the whole screen and there are no black bars! none of the custom roms have that!
~ version 8.5.4.0 has no bugs in it and has the best battery life you will ever see on the MIX
~ all Xiaomi.eu Pros and features!
~ Proximity sensor works perfectly and loud in this miui version, you cant find any custom rom that has that working perfectly these days
~ Camera is very good on the official MIUI version!
~ all the MIUI pros and features
~ NO HEAT of the phone, something that happens in a lot of custom roms I used
~ Please note that you can use MIUI9 from Xiaomi.eu if you want, but you will lose the stablity and swipe to hide the nav bar amd the phone heats a lot (but you get android 7, and all the new features) not recomended on the MIX
I have used tons of custom roms on my phone: LineageOS, RR, AICP, AOSP. AIOSP, DIRTY UNICORNS, PIXEL EXPERIENCE. none of the are as stable as that rom and I always go back to that rom.
Have a great day!

Yeah, Viper is most definitely a good Rom to use. I've used it on many other devices before and it has always performed rather well. It's a grea Rom overall and the customization is what really caught my attention. So I vote Yes, viper is indeed a good Rom to use on the Mi Mix and just about every other phone that supports it. AiCP is also a very good Rom on the Mi Mix.

I don't know man... I've never found the battery life to be good on stock ROM. I completely understand what you're saying though. However, if I'm being perfectly honest here, I wouldn't go back to using stock. Don't get me wrong it's very well-built and smooth but the battery life has always been horrible for me not sure why...

Hi Bro want to find out more from you based on your experience
I have updated to latest weely rom 9.6 - 8.5.3 but my Line ap still cannot open.
I want to go bac to stable rom as you said. What do you suggest and how to do it? I am afraid I will lose the history in whatsapp and other chat apps if clean install.

Backup & restore? Whatsapp chats and media files can be backed up to your Google drive and there are other options available for backup as well.
Same thing can be done for messages if you use the Google messenger app for texting and if not, you can still backup your messages and contacts very easily by using this 3rd party app to do so... Which uses Google drive. Also this app backs up call logs, contacts and SMS messages. App name: SMS BACKUP & RESTORE.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
As far as apps and settings go you can always just use your Google account to backup all apps/files/data if you have the option turned on in settings of course.
General SD files like media files (pics, vids, etc.) can be backed up manually using your computer and internal storage or by uploading them to the cloud... which is for free.
How to revert back to stock? There are many guides available right here on the forums, if you just take a closer look you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
