Flashing chinese OP5 to oxygen os - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys,
Recently saw a thread about how to flash chinese op5 to oxygen os.
Couldn't find it now..or i am just literally lazy to search.
Well here is how i did it without rooting or unlocking bootloader or that sorts.
Download the oxygen os rom from oneplus website and move the official rom to the base of your memory.
Head on to system updates and hit the menu for local udgrade/update and select the rom you downloaded.
Let it run and reboot.
Setup as per normal.
Now at this moment, there might be some icons or apps still in chinese language.
Its vest to do a factory reset and you're all set.
Oh..do remember to backup anything while you are still in hydrogen os or before you do the initial factory reset.
Hope i've helped some fellow bros here.
Cheers.

Hi,
I just tried your method of flashing Oxygen OS to my Chinese OP5, but get Installation failed message. Am I missing something?
Thanks.

I have Chinese version that flashed OxygenOS
Here what I have done...
Unlocked the device
Flash twrp
Install OxygenOS via twrp, no problem
P.S actually global device and Chinese devices are exactly the same device except they come with different charger and OS nothing else

Hydrogen OS 2.5.1 to Oxygen OS 3.5

Hi everyone,
I literally just got the Chinese version of the oneplus 3T (A3010) and I want to move from Hydrogen OS 2.5.1 to Oxygen OS 3.5 official with OTA. Does anyone have the file or instructions how to do this? I found instructions for the oneplus 3 but not sure with this model. I'm sure any help would help out a lot of people who are gonna ask this question.
Also will this unlock the bootloader? Just curious about it affecting android pay.
Thank you!

Wanna do me a favor and grab a nandroid backup of your rom before you kill it? I actually want h2os
Aside from that, you should theoretically be able to: ("Official" guide https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...oid-efs-backup-and-more.475142/#post-15431571)
Unlock the bootloader
Flash TWRP
Flash dm-verity
Flash OOS 3.5.3 from the ROM page, I have a mirror too (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/zip-flashable-firmware-modem-t3509015) mirror on pg 2.
and you'll be set, you can flash the original recovery if it's available on the OnePlus page as well and relock to go back to full stock just English version
PS: Since there is no stock recovery image available yet, maybe will have to run TWRP temporarily, rip the recovery off and then proceed? I dunno
Thanks for your quick reply! I was hoping more along the lines of the adb Sideload method and keep the bootloader locked for now though. If I go the root method sure I can share the nandroid backup.
PS the rom looks really similar to the oxygen rom, so far it looks like only the launcher is different. I guess this is part of the plan to merge the two.
Well you can try flashing the image straight. It's a stock image anyways so it could work.

Basically what I meant was to do the opposite of what is suggested here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/rom-h2os-2-5-oneplus-3t-released-t3511443 but with the 3.5.3 ROM
Help needed with android pay and OOS clean install
I'm in a similar situation with a chinese bought OnePlus 3G from Lazada.sg that came with Hydrogen OS. I've managed to install TWRP but because I'm completely new, got stuck and instead managed to install OOS 3.5 (now 4.## from the official website) using adb sideload.
I do have 2 questions:
1) My internet connection drops occasionally even though my WiFi is still connected, is that an issue because I might not have installed it correctly? Would a clean flash solve it?
2) I understand android pay is disabled when you unlock bootloader but even after that, will it be possible to wipe the phone clean and do a fresh install of the lastest OOS and the phone will pretty much be like the international version, with android pay re-enabled?
I believe you can use Sultanxda's patch as another way around, but it sounds complicated as hell for a new person, so I'll continue digging around while waiting for a reply.
Thank you, and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

TWRP, Root, CN vs EU...Confusion!

OK, I need some clarification please. I just ordered the phone on Swappa and will have it soon but I would like to have a plan in place for reaching my goal...A rooted phone with TWRP (don't know about what ROM yet)
I'm not sure what software will be on this phone when I get it (EU or Chinese stock/dev) but does that make a difference when attempting to put TWRP on the phone? Also, are there still 2 separate versions or is there just one now?
Also in regards to the initial root and TWRP procedure is it not possible to have SU zip on your phone beforehand or does it have to be transferred from your computer while in TWRP? Finally, the verity no opt encrypt zip must be flashed regardless of whether you are rooting or not? Many thanks for any and all help!

Presently if you read max of the posts in major of the forums, you will find out there are three versions of ROM majorly (removing Chinese dev from the list as many don't seem to be on this) - If you are buying the phone from a reseller and not directly from xiaomi, mostly you will end up with Vendor ROM
1) Vendor ROM global (8.08.0 something version) which comes with very less bloatware and Google play services. Sometimes people said their bootloader was unlocked and for some its not. (mine was locked, so had to apply for unlock - It took 3 days to get the approval).
PLEASE NOTE THAT MANY TIMES THIS VENDOR ROM HAS A "NOTES APP" WITH TROJAN ON IT. MALWARE BYTES DETECTS THIS. HENCE I DECIDED TO GET OFF IT.
2) Chinese stable ROM - The official miui ROM. It has OTA updates but comes with bloatware and quite cumbersome to use for a non Chinese person like me or thats what I felt. If you really want to use Chinese stable (and still need google apps) there is a guide which is available some where in one of the forums, right now can't get hold of it somehow.
3) EU ROM (weekly updates - I believe to be done manually) - This one is so far the best I have used and very less bloatware (there is "Qunar travel" and one Chinese app that came with it. I simply uninstalled them blindly). Comes with google play services and you can download the rest from google store.
My journey so far is Vendor ROM --> Chinese Stable --> EU ROM (Non-root)
Why i didn't go directly from Vendor ROM to EU ROM is because
1) some of the users had issues with TWRP's touch non-responsiveness.
2) I want to see what is there on Chinese Stable before going to EU ROM, so that I can do a comparison.
For Vendor ROM to Chinese Stable use the guide below (by @satishp)

https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/how-to/guide-flash-global-china-rom-root-gapps-t3510592
Following the steps exactly in the above two guides, I was able to install EU ROM without any issues.

When you enable developer options on your phone and enable USB debugging, then I believe when you connect your phone to laptop/desktop it should connect using MTP and should be seen as device. So I guess you can copy the zip before hand on to the phone.

All the guides mention that whenever you want to install the EU ROM without root, the dm-verity is compulsory to flash before reboot.
Hope this helps!!. Enjoy your MIX.

Wow, thank you so much for that very thorough answer! I will be getting the phone tomorrow and my goal will be to get the EU Rom on my phone with TWRP and Xposed.
One more small question. So if I happen to get the touch screen freeze (in TWRP or after system reboot) how do you recover from this situation?

I believe you have to go to Chinese Stable then using MiFlash or install one more version of TWRP which is compatible with Chinese ROM and then other steps. (one of the guides mentions these too)
But my suggestion is simply follow the steps in both the guides, go to chinese stable and then to EU ROM. Its worth the 15 min extra effort as surely i can tell this will not have problems and I believe you can definitely got to root/xposed too finally.
There is a small typo in my previous answer (I corrected it now). Sincere apologies for the same.
Dm-verity is not needed if you are going to root. If you flash to EU ROM and don't want root, then install dm-verity. This is as per the guide mentioned in my last answer.
Hope this helps.

"Flash fastboot rom" was a sentence/direction/hint what you have to do, not a (fastboot) command
I think there is a detailed guide in the Guides section. Otherwise, you need to google about MiFlash, install to the PC, read how to use, find on xiaomifirmwareupdater an appropriate tgz/fastboot rom for your device.
I'm not on Pro, not on Indian, cannot guide you more than as above, where to start googling/reading/learning
^^ Thanks for the clarification.
I downloaded latest rom from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/raphaelin/ I tried both recovery and fastboot version.
I flashed the rom using twrp (is that right?) but nothing happens and devices reboots itsefl into recovery. What am I doing wrong?
I am also unable to locate the guide to revert back. Plus I am on Linux so that windows too might now work.
Edit - The guides mention flashing magisk. But I don't want to root as I have to claim warranty. What do I do now?
Edit 2 - I flashed magisk root but still not able to boot. It reverts back to recovery.

Question Chinese apps after converting from COS to OOS

Hi comm.
I've ordered my Extreme Edition in Panda White, which hopefully should arrive till end of the week, so I'm reading all the posts and threads about converting and so on.. Because there are a lot of users which unluckily have bricked their phones, before I start with main topic from the title, just to confirm some things before I start my own conversion:
What's needed:
- Unlocked Bootloader
- Fastboot Enhance Tool
- Desired ROM, EU/IN
Special to care about:
- Be sure all COW partitions are deleted before flashing / otherwise brick
- Be sure no unknown partitions are detected before flashing / otherwise brick
All good so far?
There are different models:
- NE2115, I suppose US market?
- NE2213, I suppose Global market, EU & IN?
What for models are out there? Can anyone list them all with an short description?
I think it will also help any other user too out there, just to be clear and prevent any missmatch during downloading and staging the ROMs.
So, and now to the main topic, I've read somewhere in one of the threads here and it was also confirmed by other users, after converting from COS to OOS and performing an Factory- Reset, that the Chinese apps are back again. They can be deleted/deinstalled directly over the settings/apps menu on the phone, but they are still there..
Did anyone here, an more experienced user or maybe an dev. have figured out from where they are comming and is there an way to get rid of them permanently?
Many thanks and best
Adnan

Hi Adnan
I started a thread on the locked apps a month or so back but basically got told I shouldn't buy Chinese phones and it was just to bad. I would also like to resolve the issue I thought of maybe flashing a euro fast boot recovery onto the phone because noticed even on euro rom the fast boot recovery text was still Chinese when I reset the phone. I did not attempt for risk of brick. I have have been waiting for someone with some knowledge to post a thread on this so I can fix so I will be watching this very closely. good luck

I suppose, that all the partitions, recovery, boot, system and so on, should be reflashed / overwritten when you flash with the Fastboot Enhance Tool and the Payload.bin file.
My device will arrive today, so I'll give a try..

I'm done with my conversion, so far, all good.. Chinese apps are there, after every factory reset, but they are all deinstallable.. Didn't find from where they are comming, but I suppose there are two variants:
- An hidden partition with Chinese apps
- An app which is provisoning the apps during the first setup wizzard
I think an DEV or so should take a look at it.
What I didn't try is, there is an offical rollback package on OnePlus comm. because of Android Dev. Preview, maybe flashing this one would remove the Chinese apps? Will try it out, otherwise everything was good, no problems at all.
I installed android 13 dev last night and used rollback, no Chinese apps yet will do a factory restore later I will post my results.

Just done factory reset and no Chinese bloat hooray!! And which version of dev. preview did you use? EU or NA?
EU
I'm going to re-type
For this operation I used Oxygen Updater by adhira S. Chauhan from play store, and followed the instructions https://oxygenupdater.com/article/319/ to download and rollback the EU android 13/T Dev Preview
So finally I was able to get rid of all chinese apps, but an install of Dev. Preview wasn't necessary. I've downloaded the rollback package of A12 from OnePlus, then I rebooted the phone to fastbootd, and entered the recovery on the phone.
Then I flashed the Payload.bin file, and all was good. Since then, I did two factory resets, and both time, the phone was up without any Chinese stuff.

So it occurred to me that 9008 is EDL mode. A mode in which the phone can accept msm firehose restorations. I just want to know if modem firmware changes from the Chinese version to whichever variant (EU/global) you flash to

A bit to high for me right now, 9008 seams to be for an EDL mode, but as much as I know, for EDL mode we need MSM tool, which is still not out yet.. Also, have no idea what 9008 is, EDL mode OK, but EU, IN, NA? Version and so on.. The risk to flash something wrong and to end with an brick, where we currently don't have an option to unbick is just to high..

Question Problem with System updates after unrooting

Hey there,
almost a year ago i rooted my device, tried it for a bit and then realized that i cant use my creditcard app without doing some weird stuff.
so i decided to unroot. everything worked. Now after a long time i wanted to do a normal system update to MIUI 13, but everytime i try to start the update using the devices updater,
i get a dialog saying something like "You device supports seamless system updates. Remember to select Slot A when you get prompted by TWRP" (roughly translated, its in german). I dont really understand why my device is still knowing that i user twrp, even after i removed it and reflashed the original fastboot thingy. (im not too familiar with all the rooting stuff)
I tried to flash again to twrp from my computer and install the update that way but that comes with its own problems and i would prefer to use the system updater rather than twrp.
Does any one have an idea why i get the meantioned dialog and how i can get rid of it to let it update normally?
I just realized that the updater is downloading a file called "xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK40Pro_Mi11i_V14 ... .zip". that looks like some unofficial rom to me, is it pulling it from somewhere else rather than the official xiamo servers maybe?
im really lost at this point.
sorry for some broken english here and there
it also says something about my system being encrypted and that i need to enter a password which never happens.
If it's fetching Xiaomi.eu rom that means you changed the rom from stock to the custom made EU version. If you did not, that most likely means that your device was originally the China version and the seller installed the EU version to provide you with the Google/Play Services.
In short: You are not using the official stock rom. Please post screenshots from your About Phone.
