ABOUT:
- based on Sprint 1.13.651.6 RUU
- Stock, rooted & deodexed
- headphone audio tweaks
This is the 11th installment of the DigitalKarma Rom series which dates back to 2012 on the EVO 4G. It has been nearly 3 years since I made my last one, Ver. 10: Zen on the M7. During that time I had stepped away from the XDA development community to pursue other interests. It would take a boldly new design and concept to get me inspired to come back out from a long slumber and create something again for HTC devices. That device is the HTC U11.

notes:
this ROM has not been tested thoroughly enough hence the experimental tag. It also does not help that I do not own an U11 yet so i cannot test. My modding techniques are a little rusty from all that time away as I have been relearning the ROM making process again. some things are coming back to me from memory and a few other things have changed but I'd like to think my ROM works....
Warning: Install at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damages that may occur to your phone, but as a friendly reminder in case you didn't already know... always remember to backup your system first, then wipe data plus cache before you flash!
also if you are going to listen to audio start the volume on low preferably 0 db's then slowly work it up. Until it is safe to do so.. make sure not to have it at full blast! listen. responsibly!
Thanks and enjoy the rom.

and one more.

if anybody can test this for me to see if it boots that would be great. would love to see screenshots as well if booted successfully.
Download DK11 v1.1 Test - 1.13.651.6
this is extracted from the latest Sprint RUU. guess you should be on the latest Sprint firmware as well.

wallpaper with a flower? lol. wish i could see this for myself.
so you couldn't swipe left or right from the main homescreen or couldn't pull down notification menu either?
thanks for testing. i got to see where this flower resides i am combing through the apps...
anyway some interesting differences to what HTC has changed from 1.03.651 to 1.13.651 in regard to camera, and bits of bluetooth and audio files.. mostly camera has been altered the most, but don't know if they fully implemented the 1080p recording in this version some of the files are in place.

Def a pink flower. I couldn't find the same wallpaper when I did a quit google search if htc wallpapers..sorry. I could not swipe left or right and I don't believe the notification shade would drop down. The power menu was all that would pop up. I'll try to look again for that wallpaper.

that is weird.
would help me get a clearer idea if you could somehow get a screenshot or even better, a logcat of the bootup. i dont know what i could be doing that is wrong. i havent modded any apps or frameworks yet just to be on the safe side until i know it boots properly
only thing i can think of is if several files didnt deodexed correctly.

Will download and test when possible.

re-upping. my updater script look a little whack

I wonder how v1.1 and v1.0 are when booting up as a reference. Until someone can provide me a logcat I can't really do anything to find the problem.
I would have to start over from scratch

Finally got to download and flash the latest, and still behaves the same way. Not sure if it's me.
I can't install my phone drivers on the work computers, so logcat has to be tonight. Speaking of which, does the aLogCat provide information about previous flashes even after I successfully flashed a new Rom? If that's the case, then you will have a logcat soon.

You'll need the device to be connected to your pc and use adb logcat from there. Type adb logcat > logcat.txt then press enter before you power on the device to ensure the log starts right at bootup.
aLogCat will only work if your device is actively running and you would have to go into the app so you won't be able to get a log of the bootup.
Looking forward to the log :silly:

THIS IS AN ALHPA! Make sure you know what you are doing before flashing because there are a few things you need to do for things to work!
Thanks:
Thanks for cvpcs for publicly posting his source, which I compiled from.
Thanks slayher for his vendor setup, for a huge amount of help building my original AOSP build(I decided to switch to building from cvpcs' afterwards), and for the USB fix.
Thanks blackdroid for the idea to fix the sound.
Thanks to Speels for providing me a server to host this ROM on, and his unending moral support
Thanks to Jackson Barber for testing this.
Thanks to Justin Rogers, for giving the the DX proprietaries.
Thanks to Jrummy16 for helping me with some unlisted things
Thanks everyone for the constant support when this starting driving me INSANE
Thanks tanknspank for reading this over
Thanks to my girlfriend for letting me work on this and not getting angry(LOL)
Current bugs:
Phone reboots when you press the sleep/wake button
Video camera crashes
Accelerometer doesn't work
Not sure about others...
Please report any bugs to [email protected]
Features:
From source AOSP ROM
Extra mods in the settings
Zero Motoblur.
Rotary lock screen(Kinda defeats the purpose at the moment haha)
Lock screen music controls(Again defeats the purpose at the moment )
Built in USB tethering
Eliot Stocker's MusicMod
Cytown phone
More to come...
Pre-install steps:
If you would like USB to work, and to have the ability to pull the battery and always reboot into recovery(as long as you don't sbf) follow these steps. You will need USB debugging enabled for these steps.
Step 1: Download the files here for windows and here for Linux depending on what OS you are running. Linux and Windows only for now.
Step 2: Windows: Run dopreinstall.bat with USB debugging on, on your phone.
Linux: Open terminal and cd to the folder you extracted the zip from. Then type "chmod 0755 dopreinstall.sh" then "./dopreinstall.sh" with USb debugging on, on your phone.
How to install:
Step 1: Download and install Koush's bootstrap application if not already done.
Step 2: Copy Unleashed30AlphaDX.zip to your sdcard and then unmount
Step 3: Bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery
Step 4: Mount /system in mounts and storage
Step 5: Install Unleashed30AlphaDX.zip from the sdcard
Step 6: Wipe data/factory reset(Not needed if coming from any Fission release, but recommended, as it may help fix some bugs)
Step 7: Reboot.
Step 8: Once your phone boots, give it around 2-3 minutes before you start using it. Tap the screen every 30-40 seconds to keep it from locking and rebooting.
Step 9: If you get stuck at the Setup Wizard, go back to the "Welcome To DROIDX" screen and tap all four corners until it either goes to the home screen, or when you hit the home button it goes to the home screen.
Step 10: Once out of the Setup Wizard, go to your settings, display, and set the display lock to 30 minutes so it doesn't keep shutting off and rebooting.
For USB to work, you will need to have the USB cable plugged in while booting or it will not charge or allow you to copy files to your sdcard. You can always charge through an outlet though.
When you boot, you may get a few force closes. Always select wait on these. You may also get Android System, select wait for that also.

CVPCS were working on a way to get around the bootloader issue by double booting or something of that nature. Is this essentially what your doing with this or is this a motorola rom with all blur removed?

What you are talking about is hijack. This uses hijack, this is from source. Has 0 blur in it. Stock 100%.
Stock Kernel?
I'm just interested, I very much appreciate any and all new roms on the market.

Yeah, it uses the stock kernel. That's what hijack is used for.
Alright I'm somewhat confused. Just to be clear, the kernel that is in this rom is NOT what is included in any of the motorola OTA's correct? If so, your awesome.

Oh sorry my mistake, I thought you meant the stock Motorola kernel, which it does use. Sorry for the confusion.
I'm confused as well. I thought hijacking meant you were able to kick into a custom kernel somehow. Can someone explain this hijack thing to me?
It sounds like the rom is just a stripped apart OTA.

No from my understanding this is very different. This is built from the actual source files provided by google, so it doesn't start from the ota updates from moto. Whereas other roms take the moto roms and strip away as much as they can, this starts from the actual source files from google so it contains nothing from Moto in the rom itself. Yes, you still get the Moto kernel, but this is a big step forward. To get to this point is really amazing--mad props to everyone.

Yeah the kernel is still a big problem but this should make custom roms a lot easier once the bugs are worked out. Full cyanogen needs a custom kernel I hear but at least we can get something close hopefully.

Agreed! A rom that is truly from source I would think should be much faster than a moto rom that has been stripped out! ...guess we will see!
Anyone with reports on this?

I am really curious to see this rom progress but for now i think it may have too many bugs to use as a daily driver. I will be following this thread though for updates :-D Good Job Matt4542
Awesome! I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but does it matter if I'm running the P3droid's leaked 2.3.320 software?
For what it's worth here's the Quadrant scores (no overclocks, etc., but it looks like stagefright is on by default in the rom). Yes it is fast.

Awesome! Are you running 2.3.15 or 2.3.320?
I tried this out on 2.3.320. It was really fast and is almost good to use as a daily driver. Of course not being able to turn the screen off without it rebooting is kind of a big deal. Great work guys - I have been wanting AOSP on my X for a long time.
I removed the install and went back to an old nandroid but will be following the progress closely. Thanks again.

Ok guys, I need to get a bit personal before we get to the link.
Everything I do for Android is done in my own personal free time for fun. You are not doing me any favours by using this Rom. I am not obligated to customize the Rom to what you want, modify it to fit your needs better, resolve bugs you encounter or owe you an update. I am aware of most bugs still in this Rom and I am actively working on fixing them. When I get fixes I will update at that time. However, you are free to take my Rom or parts of it at free will and modify to your hearts content with out my permission. That simple. You don't like something about my Rom, then change it on your own. If I can find the time to do the research and mod, change what I want, so can you.

Common concerns and general info
Roaming: This is a feature built in to all Sprint Roms. The setting is still there once I port it to our phone but it does not effect us because we are on Verizon. I can actually remove that setting all together and all the 4G stuff you see as well. I just haven't had the time to get around to it. Anyone who ever used my Pure Speed Rom knows... I did the same thing for that Rom. Its what us Devs commonly refer to as 'DeSPRINTing'. This Rom still has most Sprint settings in it. I'll be getting those cleaned out and replaced with Verizon with in the next few updates. Take it as this: YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR ROAMING.
Bluetooth: I haven't heard of any reports yet for this not working properly. I don't use BT myself so it wasn't really high on my priority list. Since this has been brought up now though, I'll look into it. I have an idea.. just need to test it. Again, with in the next few updates.
WiFi: I'm glad to hear this is working properly. If one person says it is working then that means success. Now this doesn't mean it will work for everyone. I can't control this and I also have no way to test this. But for now more and more people that it is working properly and thats all I need to know.
Kernel: Just use the kernel that is provided with this Rom. It isn't the new OTA kernel but it doesn't really matter. It has all the modules included that anyone needs. Minus overclocking. Overclocking hasn't tested well for me with this Rom so I suggest not using an OC kernel at this time. Maybe when source drops I can sweet talk Tiny into hooking me up with my very own kernel for my Roms or at-least teach me the proper way to build my own(which I've already taken upon myself to start learning).
Themes and Mods: Guys, I'm very swamped and really don't have time to be setting around making them. I'm more of a Rom developer and not a themer. However, if you have an idea and I think it would actually be better for the Rom then I may consider working something out to get it into my Rom. This statement doesn't mean that 'I don't know how to'. I just don't have the time. Now with having said this, if yall have a mod that you really like that you have tested and know 100% that it will work with my Rom as is then please by all means run it by me and at least I will post it in my mods section. I have no problem doing that. For reference: If anyone is familiar with aamikam's mikG 2.5 for the EVO 4G should know that any mod for that Rom will also work for my Rom. That Rom is what my Rom is based off of.

Nice work Wild, I was actually looking at this ROM the other day on the EVO forums thinking it would be nice if we had something like it. Ill give it a go after lunch. Keep up the good work bud
Ok guys, don't get to used to 3.0 weather. I just ran into an issue where if you remove the Sense clock and then put it back the weather animations will force close. So I think I will be replacing the weather animations with the stock 2.1 animations until I can find a fix for the 3.0.
Don't forget to leave comments and feedback please. and if you like my work and time spent you can always just press thanks or rate my thread.

Changelog (4-12-2012):
Also including the official AOKP changelog for more details
5.001 Official
Synced as of 4-12-2012
Added a custom ringtone I made based on Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core (set as default)
Started to optimize some images in source
This build is based on the official AOKP build 31
Optimized all audio files
Added a MASSIVE amount of build.prop tweaks!
AOKP OFFICIAL CHANGELOG:
Fixed long pressing home button not working on capacitive buttons
Fixed FC when clearing market data through the LCD density changer in RC
Fixed lockscreen icons not setting properly
Fixed devices not having MTP checked by default (for Galaxy Nexus amongst others)
Fixed battery bar showing incorrect battery percentages and not showing in the proper orientation
Fixed Calendar FC in ROM Control
Added donate link for Khas Mek (you should really click this)
Changed back to stock framework animation speed as the faster ones weren't properly configured and made things "stutter"
Flashing instructions:
FLASH 5.6.890 SBF (for a TOTALLY clean install for those with paranoia)
1: Download the 5.6.890 SBF file HERE
2: Download RSDLite 5.5 HERE
3: Extract the contents of the SBF file to a folder on your computer
4: Install RSDLite
5: Boot the Droid 3 into bootloader by holding both Vol+ & Vol- at the same time when powering the phone on
6: Select "AP Fastboot" and press Vol+ to select it
7: Select the XML from the extracted SBF file in RSDLite
8: Connect the phone, and when it says "Connected", hit "Start"
9: Wait for the phone to finish flashing, and booting (it will reboot a couple times, leave it alone, its supposed to!)
ROOT STOCK ROM
10: Install and run Petes Motorola Root Tools. Download it HERE
11: Follow the instructions in the app to root your phone
INSTALL SAFESTRAP RECOVERY
12: Once rooted, install one of the following recoveries:
OFFICIAL BY HASHCODE: HERE
UNOFFICIAL BY RICK#2: HERE
13: Reboot your phone, and when prompted, hit MENU to enter SafeStrap Recovery.
BACKUP AND INSTALL NEW ROM
14: MAKE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING! (just a precaution)
15: Go to "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from internal sdcard", then select my ROM's zip file
16: After it installs, back out and reboot the phone
17: YOU HAVE DONE IT! CONGRATS ON YOU NEW STEEL DROID INSTALL!
I would suggest using the latest 1.0.8e release of Rick#2's tweaked Safestrap. It has a lot of safeguards built in that could really save you a bunch of time in flashing and/or testing, and I personally like his menu layout and design. But of course, you still have all the functionality of Hashcodes Safestrap still in place.
Give the ROM time to boot. The first boot took me almost 5 minutes! If your phone doesn't boot in 15 minutes, pull the battery and try again. If it still doesn't boot, you need to go back and start over with my instructions at the beginning!
ALSO: Please be sure to check out the free tethering hack! I use it regularly, and it DOES work. Quite well I might add. Details HERE

Here are my thanks for this build, in no particular order:
AOKP (for their awesome ICS source!)

Motorola! (kickass phone!)
JRummy (init.d support)
cvalenti15 (testing)
and a few more...
Wow I was actually just about to go back to 4.5 but as soon as I refreshed the page, this popped up! Will give this a try and post back!
EDIT: I'm on GSM and couldn't get it to work even with making changes to build.prop (exact same changes if you've done it with other ICS ROMs). I was getting FC when trying to make phone calls and cannot receive phone calls. If any other GSM user can get it to work, could you post your steps?
tits yes!
does the keyboard back light and rotation and such work?

FYI
i checked all of the ics rom's on that forum (on my XT860 GMS), i put all the patches, and the modification for the build.prop
none of them the data connection functioning (wifi or cell)
Do you plan on theming more in future versions?
Does HDMI out work?
Nice to see another ics rom and the detail in op are great. Thanks. I will most definitely flash when there is a build that has a few more fixes.

Few questions
Ok, I read the FAQ on the AOKP site, but I couldn't find these answers anywhere...
First, how do we get to "recent apps" or the task switcher? Long press on home button doesn't work.
Second, in the AOKP Rom settings, I can't seem to select a correct color for my LED. I pick a green, or red, or orange, but when I get a notification, it pushes all colors out.
Other than these issues, this build has been great. One wish list item though is to remove security for the corporate email, it's one of my biggest pet peaves.

Bugs??:
KNOWN ISSUES:
Videocamera : Use VideoCam Illusion
Slight Lag possible on screen transitions
USB tether
The graphics related issues are due to not having proper drivers to use for this. Don't ask for an ETA on a fix. Moto won't be giving us the drivers, so there is no fix
If you need to report a NEW bug, report it once, and the next TWO people VERIFY it. I don't need everyone reporting same bug 20 times. I you can, provide me the following information:
Version you're using
What type of fwipe you did and what ROM you came from
Have you restored any data from something like Titanium Backup
What app is misbehaving and what you were doing when it started

Bill .. jokersax.com is still in maintenance?
So if it's a port of AOKP build 40, it has the Linaro optimizations?
Nevermind. Checked the changelog on the AOPK website and saw this:
a note about linaro (warning, tech mumbo jumbo ahead)
These builds do NOT include the new Linaro optimizations. The optimizations don't increase the speed of Android by 100%, nor do they inject butter. They use a newer toolchain to compile Android, which has more optimizations. The Linaro people have also made the proper changes in Android code to allow builds to be compiled with -O3 instead of -O2 flags (think of it as another pass of code optimizations).
Please do not ask us whether we will include them in the future. We like speed as much as the next guy, but we want to make sure that it doesn't break ANYTHING. When/if it's ready, you'll know.
Enjoy!
Good to know, hopefully it will work out.
bill - why not throw a copy up on goo as a fail-safe?
I downloaded the zip
I selected the zip to install
When aroma starts up to select a language.. I can't select to the next page. I can scroll using the volume but power button doesnt select etc. Screen selection by touch doesn't work either. Any suggestions?
Joker's doing some work on the site.
Unfortunately, at work, my wifi is such that I can't connect to any ftp sites that use and ports 21, 2221, 22, 2222. that rules out my goo account.
For the touch issue, if you hit the search button on the bottom of your phone, you should be able to recalibrate Aroma inside the installer. Also from what I have heard, TWRP works best for Aroma on Atrix...can't test myself, as I have Photon.

So basically Th3Bill is your one stop shop for almost all rom's for the atrix.
Great work you are doing for the atrix community, much appreciated.

Well, soon enough I will be hopefully bringing yet another rom to Photon and Atrix.
I'm taking over a lot (not all) of Spleef's builds. AOKPCB I really don't know what the major difference is from AOKP, so I don't think I will do it. Paranoid will be the next project I work on. This build is based FULLY on CM9 libs. I avoided NONE of the previous "problem" libs, as most can be edited to work in the framework
I have my hand in 3 phones (Photon-my phone, Atrix, and Samsung Infuse) right now, and if Joker and I find anyone to donate a couple, will add the Nexus 7 to the list of devices

Screenies!
So far so good. Starting with a wiped phone started me out with about 3.6gb / 4gb internal storage which compared to the HTC rom is a pleasent surprise. Im on VM and all is well so far. data, voice, ect ect. not sure what else needs to be tested exactly but if i see something i will let you know.
Can you de-odex it?
I posted too soon. Cannot connect to my Moto 360. I cannot recreate the error that popped up but it was something like HTC service cannot ect something something. i wish i could have gotten a screencap of it. Still though lots of space. Snappy and I really like the included launchers. Must wait though until it supports my watch though. Thanks for the hard work man.
I'll look into it tonight. If you could get a screencap that would be really helpful.
I actually forgot I put the launchers in there, I really wasn't intending to. This thing would be under 600mb if I hadn't.

It does. Flashed it myself and was sorta depressed to have 0.90gb available. Once I restored my data backup from my own modded stock rom, then proceeded to uninstall all the HTC crap still left in this Rom (a little irritating) I had LITERALLY no more space than on my own revised Rom. Seems the cap on how much space you can have on stock is just a little over 1gb if you don't install anything else. Bummer...
I also don't understand the quick settings bar if we already have a menu with the same functions in the notification bar?
Regardless I see no reason to switch back to my System backup if there's nothing to be gained or lost so I'll stick with it for now

I put the quick settings in because I took out a few widgets that did the same thing, to save space. I wanted to keep as close to stock experience as I possibly can. I also did a lot of back end editing. Removing a lot of redundancies that HTC left in. XML code that spent a lot of time going through. I hope that it feels more snappier.

I removed every widget you left in as I don't use them, though I'm sure others may be. If you don't mind me asking, where did you remove the excess "back-end" stuff? It might seem snappier, I haven't had a chance to try it out too much. I'm a super-gamer and I'll be trying out some of my more intense stuff that usually holds up pretty well with some minor performance stutters. I noticed you added pattyboi's kernel which I was initially suspecting as the cause of the issues I was having performance-wise (not happy with the idle GPU freq) but I'll leave it as is and try to report what I can. I'm a power user/proficient tester, so I should be able to notice the SUPER little things that don't mean much to others. I'll check in later
Alternate Link
Is there an alternate download link for this Rom? I'm eager to try it out as I flashed CM11 and was highly disappointed with the camera and sd card issues. The link provided only pulls up my archive viewer and won't actually download the .zip file. I'm an avid tester, and keep several backups ready, in case I mess up. I would love to help with development as much as possible. Currently running the PattyBoi kernel over stock Rom. Overall quick response, but still no true customization options, even with root. I'd to change my boot animation as well as a few other things. S-Off for this device would be huge as well.
Is it possible to install this rom on a Sprint Pre-paid version, And if i will, Will it unlock the phone to other sim cards?

Ill tell you that i actually got it much lower by booting into recovery and wiping the folders that didnt pertain to the OS. ultimately i ended up with 2.97gb/4gb. its really important that you stop it from automatically updating all your apps. and only update the ones you use. for example i think google play books is almost 20 megs... as soon as i get home from work ill get my phone out and do it again and see exactly what i did.
