Wireless automatically turns on after soft reset. HELP

Hi there,
My wireless (wi-fi) on my TILT keeps automatically turning on after I do a soft reset. I turn the reboot the phone with wireless off, but when I reboot it, the wireless automatically turns on and starts looking for a connection.
This is depleting the electrons in my battery and is becoming very annoying.
Any ideas or solutions as to what may cause this and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance for the help.
it's one of the cabs you have installed, the comm manager if I'm not mistaken. I had that problem with one of installs as well. If you can't live with the comm mgr, learn to turn off wifi when you soft reset, otherwise wipe it clean and steer clear of crappy cabs. I'm sure there's a registry edit for it somewhere, but too lazy to dig.
Could you be more clear on this comms manager?
My phone seems to have it installed but i cannot uninstall it.. it came with the phone
I also notice my phone trying to connect to GPRS randomly with nothing set to update automatically etc
Its becoming a pain in the arse as i can cancel the connection 100 times and it will keep going and i have to power the phone off to stop it
I have the 6-button gray comm manager that lists Airplane Mode, Phone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Beam, and 3G. All the buttons are horizontal.
How can the comm manager be causing the problem though...please elaborate.
Thanks again.
if all fails you can try this solution:

Disable Wifi Auto Turn on?

Hello,
I got a little problem with my Touch Diamond 2: When I'm at home, where I have a wifi access point and I turn off wifi on the TD2 in Commanager then the TD2 always turns on wifi automatically under certain circumstances that I don't know the reason for.
Is there any way or any registry hack, so that the TD2 only turns on wifi when I turn it on manually? Is There any way to prevent wifi auto turn on after soft reset?
I wanna conserve battery life and really hate it, when the device turns on wifi automatically.
Thanks in advance

this happened to me also, I figured out, that when connected by cable to PC the wifi cannot be turned off. Try it, and let readers know (I have no cable yet by myself).

Wifi doesnt sleep after screen turns off??

Even if i choose from wifi settings when screen turns off wifi never turns off.
I am running original froyo and it was working fine. But after i rooted my phone and installed necessary busybox from titanium backup i started to have problems.
I choose from settings "turn wifi off when screen turns off" but it doesnt do. Also when i restart the phone the setting resets itself to "never".
I didnt have that problem before root. Can you help me how to fix it?

wifi disconnects after inactivity?

I have a problem wit my sgs, after i installed xxjq3 (i think) and if I leave the phone idle with wifi on and connected to a network, when I wake up the phone sometimes I see that it is connected to 3G but it automatically connects again to wi-fi.
Has someone see something similar? I don't know how to reproduce the problem, it doesn't occur right after the screen turns off, it has to be in that state for minutes or hours, i don't know
Check your settings:
Settings -> WiFi and network -> WiFi Settings.
Press the left button and choose "Advanced". There, you should find a entry called "WiFi Standby Guidelines". I guess, your setting is "when screen is turned off" at the moment. Just change it to "never" or "never when plugged in", but be aware, this should raise your battery consumption.
Besides that, the options / entries maybe are a little bit different, it is just a guess, as I am using my phone with german language
Kind regards, i hope this helps,
ww

[Q] Wifi/3G not connected whilst phone is in 'sleep'

Okay. I noticed today that when pressed the power button to wake my phone from sleep the wifi or 3g (depending on where i was and what I was connected to, ie home or away) icon was not showing and thus indicating that it wasn't connected. Hmm, I thought it was odd, maybe it was a display error. But I then noticed that my emails and gmails all came through a few seconds after I unlocked the phone (and the connection icon appeared) and that they had all been sent whilst the phone was asleep. So, it seems to me that the phone is disconnecting from any data source when it goes into sleep mode. Now, I am right in thinking that the whole point of push notifications or setting your email to sync every 5 minutes is that the phone will remain connected even whilst asleep, and then wake up (briefly even) when it picks up an email?
I had no power saver on, no smart sync, wifi set to never sleep. Is this normal? It's pretty important that I get my emails as and when they sent to me. Any advice would be great. I am wondering if it's a bug, and whether I need to take to the phone back to exchange for another one?
Info: not rooted, stock rom software no. 1.28.61.7, kernal 3.4.10-gddcfb8c [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT, carrier EE (UK).
Cheers
you're sure power saver in the top menu wasn't on? because that's what it does, turns off wifi and data when the screen is off for an expended period.
maybe cycle it on and off a couple of times and see if the problem persists...

No, isn't normal.
So, can you upgrade to the latest firmware and, maybe, do a full wipe?
Did you install some app for battery?
And check that your power saver isn't on...
Check under power, setting that sleep mode is off. That on by default on mine. It turns data off after extended screen of time and doesn't require the power save to be activated.

Hmm, no additional battery apps, power saving toggled and definitely off (I purposefully turned it off because of it's data management policy), and sleep mode set to off.
So, I'm right in thinking that you/others actually get notifications then? and wifi/3g is working fine? Looks like it's a return and hope that the next one works (I only got the phone 7days ago). My software update says no updates available, though this is likely to be EE fault. If I can get the shop to exchange I might just do that. Ho hum, another 3 hours setting the thing up again then...
It seems to be a Wifi switching itself off problem...

So, a quick update in case anyone else is having this problem.
I reset the phone to see if it would make a difference and it kind of has. Now I have noticed that if I am using mobile data it's fine. Things are pushed, notifications come through. But if I use Wifi it's a different matter.
it seems that with Wifi on and connected then it works for around 15 minutes when the phone is sleeping (I have done a few tests). After this it seems to shut wifi down and hence no notifications. So it would seem to me that although Power Saving is set to OFF, and Sleep mode (ie no data in sleep) is set to OFF, the phone is still disconnecting from WIfi regardless of the settings. Which is a bit frustrating as I don't want to be connected to the mobile network all the time, especially at home, but still want to know if I receive emails.
Anyone else experienced this Wifi switching itself off issue (and then switching itself on as soon as you manually wake the phone?)? I have to decide whether to return the phone for a replacement or not. If this is a wide ranging issue it might not be worth it - though I'd have thought a simply thing, like keeping wifi on at all times wouldn't be hard to make sure it worked.
there are a few apps available on the play store such as "keep wifi alive" which might do the trick.

Okay, now I feel a bit of Doughnut! I think I've found out what was causing this. So, even though I had Power Saver OFF, Smartsync OFF, Sleep Mode (disconnect data whilst sleep) OFF, I hadn't had a proper look in the Wifi settings, and under Advanced I found:
Advanced>Keep Wifi on during Sleep. This hadn't been set to Always and was set to 'Only when plugged in'. So, changed to 'Always' and now it seems to work (and that would explain why I got emails through the night when charging).
So, apart from feeling a little red-faced for not exploring every single menu available, I am happy it (seems) sorted. If anyone has wifi dropping whilst phone is sleeping it seems there are four steps:
SmartSync = OFF [in Mail app]
Power Saver = OFF [in status bar and Power Settings]
Sleep Mode = OFF [in Power Settings]
Keep Wifi on during Sleep = Always [in Wifi>Advanced Settings]
Hopefully this'll help anyone else who has been having a bit of prolonged blond moment with the phone settings. {retreats to corner}

I have similar problem. Even when I have everything OFF as you suggest, I get disconnected a second after screen goes off. When I turn phone back on, I can see that wifi is on, but all aps are off and wont connect again. I have to turn wifi off and on and applications like skype go again online. I have this problem at home and also at work on corporate network. I have even tried apps that should keep wifi on, but with no change.
Interesting is that after the phone goes to sleep mode, I can see that speed of wifi is changing on phone. The phone actualy stays connected to wifi, but doesn't send or receive data.
The router at home is TP-Link 1043ND with DD-WRT (flashed to last firmware to see if it fixes this problem). I'm not sure what brand and type are corporate APs, but could be some cisco or similar.
Any advice what else I could try?
