My P9 lite doesn't see my own themes - Huawei P9 Lite Themes, Apps, and Mods

When I download a theme from the internet or PlayStore, I can normally go to Themes and apply it. If I edit any theme on my computer or by using Emui theme editor, I put a new theme to HWThemes folder, but I don't have the theme in Themes app and I can't apply it... why?

Make sure that the theme files are saved with the .hwt extension, and not .zip.

I'm 100% sure they are. I edited some themes by using winrar, changing everything I want, packing again into .rar and rename .rar to .hwt
Also the Emui Theme Editor saves themes as .hwt
My phone in Themes app doesn't see any of them

As far as I know, it needs to be packed into .zip files, then .hwt. I might be wrong though, but that was always what I did.
I'm not sure about the play store themes, but where are your themes stored? Internal memory or on your SD card?
Try clearing data in your themes app, and see if that helps?

My files are in .hwt
I changed what I want, then make it to a .zip file. After that change extension of the file to .hwt
I have my themes on the internal memory in the HWThemes folder.
I can't clear data in my themes app, I can only stop this app
I don't know why, my edited themes are not visable by phone, but on the other hand themes downloaded from the internet (like the Google+ community) are working without any problems

I didn't realise the theme would be so big! Wow, you'll need to be patient then, since I have a really slow connection.

The theme won't load because there are too many icons, and the theme is too big. You will need to remove all the unnecessary icons.

There should't be a problem with many icons.
I used to have issue with new themes and after a long period of trying I just master reseted the phone

It's definitely the icons, since replacing the icons with the default icons, the theme then loads up. The icons either need to be optimised, so that the theme size is smaller, or some need to be removed.

Is there a way to only apply the framework from a theme?

I really am not a fan of the themed apps (i.e. market, dialer, etc) that come packed with themes. Is there a way to only change the framework? The REVOlution and STRUCK themes are awesome but I just can't stand the themed apps.
Thanks in advance.
take the framework.res apk and the htc.resources.apk from you phone
take the same files from the theme
extract the images from the theme files into ythe files from you phone and reload
open the zip using 7zip or whatever you use and delete the apps you dont.

Also you could use NinjaMorph. I use it all the time for just what you are saying. I am running VanillaBean 1.2 with all dark backgrounds and shade etc thanks to NinjaMorph.

View emoji icons like IOS?

I've seen different threads about Viewing/using emoji on android devices however I haven't found a solution or final conclusion if this is possible. I don't like the android emojis that gets displayed on my phone when on Facebook etc. Is it possible to have IOS emoji icons on android fully functioning and viewable?
My phone is rooted if that helps

Hello u may extract files and replace emoji icons in APK framework. The app whether is Conversation.APK or Messaging.APK...once done replacing,
u may rebuild it back into systems/apps folder in phone. Hope helps.

You could replace the Android images for the iPhone ones with a bit of apk modding.

See whitefang3456s comment about which apk it is, then simply extract it to your computer then browse the drawables folders and it will become apparent which images you need to change, and you don't need to decompile either so the task is quite simple.

+1. Thanks for helping @XperienceD
@dreamville, U may need:
1. 7zip filemanager to extract, zip to archive APK
2. Adobe PS or Paint.net to edit PNG image for emoji icons
3. Formatter link here to format. zip extension file into. APK extension.
And yes. No need decompile or mess with Binary scripts
Hope helps

Not sure why you need to use that as, just right click and "open with" should be enough.

Some APK files aren't allowed to replace without being extracted or used by APK Manager. In the sametime, changing format of zipped files usually saved more spaces compared to original files

I browsed around the drawables folder, and didn't find any of the emoji. Can anyone shed some light on what folder they might be in, thanks.
I was looking in framework-res.apk btw.
Can someone do this for the Xperia Z? Where are the emoji?

Change dialer and settings wallpaper in any theme store theme?

As many of you know, many themes would be great if they just didn't have some super strange background in the dialer, settings, etc.
There's got to be a way to change this for any theme in the theme store.
Can anyone help us all out with a solution?

Here is what you need to do:
-Install the theme from the store
-Browse to /data/app and find all the folders pertaining to your theme. Then find the specific folder that relate to the element you ware wanting to remove the wallpaper from (ie. com.themename.settings-1).
-Copy the base.apk in the folder to your computer
-Decompile with APK tool.
-Remove the .qmg that is the background. Update your public.xml
-Recompile and use original signature
-Place APK back into folder in /data/app and set correct permissions
-Reboot
:good:

Yes, as long as you aren't sharing the theme as it's a paid theme. You will want to pull all the APKs and change edit the colors.xml looking for 454545 to change.

Unfortunately no, but there is a long method by which you can use some stuff from the theme you want to use as base. The steps are:
1) Extract every qmg file from each apk within a theme and rename the extracted apks to zip.
2) using command prompt run the following command:
Code:
ren *.qmg *.png
it will auto change the extension from qmg to png.
3) Transfer the pngs to mobile phone and look at the images you want to use
4) create your theme and individually replace the qmg which you identified from pngs with the base themes qmg. That's it.
I know its a tiresome task
nice:good: i made my first theme
Thanks, this is something..

First, thank you for posting this tool.
I'm still old skool in terms of theming, hard coding the system and adding/changing images to my preference.
It seems the the overlay themes are the direction it been headed for sometime so if the tool is easy enough and less time consuming, I suppose I could switch, plus the compatibility for many more devices and users is quite nice!
As far as converting/viewing qmg images install this to your phone and within the app select the apk of which you wish to view the qmg images and bam! It's all done, converted to png's viewable on pc and everything!
Anyways, thanks again!

I also found out one more way as this alp was not working for me on s7. Further, the above mentioned method is not working as the tool requires you to sign the apk with a certificate which you create with this tool itself and changing the files i think damages the signature. Nevertheless the 2nd way is to rename the qmg files to png. Transfer them to phone and then through the phone edit them. Add a small difference so that you can save it. Once you do, it will save it in png format.

hi...i can teach you...but you need a pc...and a sample theme...you can get the sample theme from play store (pure AOSP) or any theme.
after installing the theme copy the theme to pc...you can find it in hwthemes folder.
use WinRAR to open the .hwt file.
now find (com.android.systemui)
drag it outside the hwt and use WinRAR to open (com.android.systemui)
after that...you need a renaming tool...i use bulk extension changer... extract the res folder and use the above mentioned tool to change all the .xml files to .png
after that...
open your favorite image editing software (Photoshop or any similar software)
make the battery shape that you like.
and save it...
you can use the sample theme for guidance...for percentage and other stuff.
after saving your desired battery shape use the renaming tool to change all the .png files to .xml(Not .XML) and put them where they were before (inside the .hwt file)
Copy the theme and apply it... reboot your phone and voila...
remember... it's not an easy job...you have to do some tinkering to make it look good.
i hope that helps you... enjoy

you can't edit this or change how it deals with the percentage
