Heat - Samsung Galaxy J5 Real Life Review

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Samsung Galaxy J5 stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.

could be used as portable heater.

whenever i use mobile data on my phone, it turns into a toaster and the temps go between 70-84 degrees
but in games, the temps are ok only if you play offline games but it gets preety hot when you play online or multiplayer games(games that uses hotspot)

HTC ONE charging but still losing battery when playing 3D games

This is my first android phone, but is it normal if I am playing 3D games (Real racing 3) while charging but its still losing battery?
Often it ended up being 1% power and shuts off by itself.
It does charge when i close the phone or jsut browse the net.
Should i be worried or?
No, Real Racing can really eat up a lot of power. I've seen it touch up to 1200mAh and the charger can only provide a maximum of 980mAh or so. Also, realllly not recommended to charge and play demanding games at the same time
How about bad piggies.. lol it also loses battery but very very slowly
Also.... to play demanding games u need to charge!!! lol or else u run out of battery in no time!~

Bad Piggies should be absolutely no issue lol. Heck, you can play it with Power Saver on and it wouldn't affect the game a bit.
Well...unless you want to play demanding games for hours on end, then I really suggest you not to charge and play at the same time. For one, the added heat pushes temps up, and the One throttles at 40 degrees. Anything above that and it kicks the CPU speed down a few notches till it's under 40 again.

heat & performance problem

Hi my xz is goes high tempreture in 15 minutes. but just 3d games. and performance is faills on games. I measured the temperature of 42C.cpu gauge and i measured 45C manuel home thermometer http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif When i playing real racing 3 10 minutes to 15 minutes fps is fail

I think once the device reaches a certain temperature, it would start throttling its speed. I did an antutu benchmark and was getting around the 15k mark. Everyone were reporting that they were getting over 20k. I tried submerging the phone in cold water and ran the test, and got over 20k in antutu.

It depends on your ambient temperature. Some people may live in a continent where their room temperate is lower than 20 Celsius while the rest (like me) on average would be 30 Celsius.
If you don't mind it, you could unlock your bootloader, install the Doomkernel by DooMLoRD and undervolt your device. That would reduce heat significantly.

I can't comment on games as I didn't play a lot of games on the device seeing how the battery would drop rapidly. I played casual games which didn't require a high amount of power to process. Anyways, when I am outside and turn on the GPS to use it, the phone heats up rather quickly. Even when the camera is on the phone heats up.
its not just u, its the nature of the CPU, it gets hot quick plus it in a pretty close encloser (glass and plastic) so that doesnt help with heat dissipation

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the LG Nexus 5X's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

When using heavily I am out of juice by 4pm if off the charger at 7am.

How about the battery life for things like video, or is that what you were doing?

You mean HEAVILY
Heavy usage scenario
Over 3 hours switching between gaming and streaming a live sporting event with Chrome, texting and emails in between. 40% brightness, no settings disabled, everything stock.
I'm impressed how games don't slow down to a crawl on this device even at its maximum throttled point, and the device stays quite cool as well. It has the perfect balance between performance, battery life and heat in these kinds of high load scenarios. In my experience this is a huge improvement over the N5 which was both hot and slow after 15-20 minutes of heavy usage.

Depending on game you can have an average of 4.5 hours of non-stop gaming which is impressive for this kind of performance. My best is 5.5 sot playing wonder tactics (yes it was a lazy lazy day)
From my side, in overall 4 hours of non-stop gaming using hard 3D games with wi-fi enabled and 50% of brightness.
If using web,YouTube and games battery drain fast.
Right now my phone lasts about 3-4 hours with heavy usage. I'm hoping I can get this straightened out. I may have to upgrade to the Nexus 6p or hope they develop a battery case for extended juice.
Heavy use endurance is poor, on a heavy usage day I go through two full charges.

Overall speed

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy Note5 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy Note5 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

Gday first post. Came from using s5. note 5 better everywhere except no ir scanner removable battery or expandable memory.
I consider my N920A "fast" for everyday use. I can leave my device in power save mode and still play my graphic intensive games like Real Racing 3 smoothly.
Currently mine's struggling to make Captain tsubasa Dream team going....dunno why :/
after two and a half years of usage and zero factory resets .. i would say it is fast for everyday use, but the phone struggles with whatsapp groups that have huge conversations and default internet browser, it is in these two apps where i see the lag.
it also lags a little bit while google play is updating apps in the background and when i connect to WiFi after 2 to 3 hours (or longer) of being disconnected from the internet, but this lag is minimal, the real problem is whatsapp groups that have huge amount of contents.

very bad when taking photos/videos
you can iron your clothes when xperia X is hot
Mine is only heating up when using the camera, other than that 98% of the time it stays cool

I second this. If taking pictures for a minutes or so it will turn off features and give me that warning lol. Cannot wait to get a phone that will allow me to take pictures for much longer. Pretty much use my phone for sms, pictures and music
Only when exposed to sun but that's obvious xD
