absolutely useless at charging. Takes over 3hours for a full charge on mains.
impossible to charge via computer usb lol!!!! It jgoes up a couple of percent per hour.
looks like they never tested the phone before release.
Unacceptable

i think it will be resolved when nokia provide android 7.1.2 or Oreo

Almost takes 2 hours (I've tested around 1 and a half hour)

Awful. About six hours charging on the pc. Left it all night and got up to 92%. On mains, 30 mins will get you about 17%. the "Battery fully charged, please unplug" is alien to me with this phone. Did not improve with oreo

Averate charging time?

Hello everyone. I have this phone for a week right now and I'm really impressed how brilliant it is! I love it. But there are some questions I want to ask you and one of it is:
What is your average charging time from ~0% to absolutely full 100%? In my case it's about 3 or even 4 hours of constant charging. Even when on 100%, my widget (Battery life by Curve fish) doesn't show it's fully charged - still I have to leave my phone connected and after 30/40 minutes it says "full" and I can disconnect it. It's pretty strange because the charger is meant to have 1,5A output which is VERY BIG current in comparison with Xperia PLAY's charger (850mA). And many reviews of this phone say that the full charging cycle takes about 1h 30min from 0 to 100... What do you think?
Sent from Xperia T using Tapatalk
Are you using it while charging 3-4 hours, if you are using it, it's charged and discharged at the same time?
But from what I know - thermal throttling is the cause again. Especially if you're using it.
Maybe it charges 1,5Ah for the first 15 - 30 minutes, but then the current goes down, because of the temperature.
Somewhere between 80-100% it is normal, that it takes longer. The charging current is as low as high is the battery charging state.

Charging issue?

I put my phone to charge around 8 or 9 pm. Just unplugged around 3am and its at 97%.I used oem charger. That should be more than enough time to fully charge. What could cause this? Oem battery as well.
???
I've noticed that it backs off it's charging speed for the last 5% or so. I have a hardware dongle that measures current passing through USB cable ( powerpractical.com ) which confirms that it's drawing much less current when in the 90+% range. I suspect this is being done intentionally to reduce wear on the battery.

The first time I got the phone, I used up the battery. Then I recharged it for only 2 and a half hour to get from 1% to 100%. There might be some problem with your phone. Did you notice any apps used during that time? Probably because something kept the screen on during charging.....
Hm, yeah, my phone charged fully within ~3 hrs from 40% today (though the charging rate does slow dramatically at the end, falling from 5W (according to hardware meter) with 1400 ma charge rate reported in software, to 3W and 900ma at 90% and 2W and 450ma after 95%
I remember seeing the last few percent take a lot longer than that in the past, and coming back after many hours of charging to see it at 98%, rather than 100%. Strange.

Turbo Charging

Hello, I will be getting my Moto X soon. I had a quick questions. I know it supports quick charging with the turbo charger. My question is does the phone need to be at a certain percentage for this to work it does the first 15 minutes of charging regardless how how much battery is left charge quicker? For example, I've seen various tests where it gets around 30% charge in 15 min. If I'm at 60% charge, can I go to 90% in 15 minutes or does the battery need to be at a critical level for me to get that amount of charge in that short a time? Thanks.
It ramps down as it gets closer to charged. I can add about 50 to 60 % charge in 20 minutes or so when it's low. Great when you need to shower.

I think it is the same as my Oppo Find 7 with its VOOC charger. It will fast charge up to 75% and from then on it will charge at normal rate to 90% and trickle charge for then to full.
The VOOC charger will charge my Oppo from 0%-75% in under 30 minutes and from 0%-full in under an hour but even though the Moto X has a smaller battery it charges slower. Also the Oppo doesn't come with any other charger than the VOOC and after all the charge cycles the battery performance has not dropped at all.
The other day I charged my Find 7 from dead to full and then charged my wives Find 7 in less time than it took to charge my Moto x from 5% to full.
I was under the impression that quick charge only works when your battery is almost completely dead, and it rapidly charges up to 60% (or around that number) and after that it charges at a normal rate. So you wouldnt be able to go from 60% to 90% in 15min, it would take the same amount of time as it would with a 2A power supply.
Here is my experience with the Turbo Charger. I forgot to charge my phone (after heavy use) before going to sleep. I woke up with it dead. I had to head to work in an hour. I stuck it on the Turbo Charger and after about 30 minutes I was charged from 0% to 80%. Left it on the charger for another 15 minutes while I finished getting ready and was at 90% by the time I was heading out the door.
I have also charged it from around 60%. Took roughly 20 minutes to charge to 100%. I did notice a slow down once it hit 90%.

Charging time

Does anyone else's watch charge really slow (even with turbo changing on) if it wasn't just taken off the wrist? Maybe it has something to do with temperature. If I charge at night, it goes to full in about 30 minutes. But if I charge in the morning, it takes a lot longer.

If you are using a different usb cable or charger in the day time
then that's the problem.
When I first got the zenwatch 3 I used a cheap usb extension
cable and my watch charged real slow, then I got a heavy duty
extension usb cable afterwhich the watch charged real fast.
(50-60% in about 15 minutes)
Good luck, have a great day!
It follows suit that a thicker cable, providing the individual conductors are thicker, would allow full potential of charging.
I have noted that as all the pre-release reviews have stated, it charges fast (0%-60% in 15 minutes, or something like that), however I've noticed that the topping off is not fast. Well, it's fast compared to other devices, but not compared to the rest of its charging cycle. Mine will sit on 99% for up to 10 minutes or so before I hear the full charge notification.

Supercharge slowing down

Is it normal behavior that supercharge "slows down" as it gets closer to full charge?
I am asking because i have noticed that my 1 month old P20 Pro charges slower even though it displays "supercharging" on the display? Maybe i am imagining things, because the battery was at 89% when i plugged it in.
I have used Ampere to monitor the charging current ant it stayed around 750mA during most of the charge and dropped to 450mA at the end.

As far as I know, the low battery power of mobile phones is usually due to the fast charging speed. When the charging rate reaches more than 80%, the battery power is close to the full. In order to ensure the safety of use and extend the battery life, when the battery is rapidly charged, the charging current output by the charger will gradually decrease and the charging speed will slow down until it is fully charged. This feeling is normal for you. How long does it take you to charge from 0% to 100%?
Yes - This is generally a safety measure for the battery.
How long does it take from 0% to 50% and as far as I am aware it slows down from 60%
Thanks for your replies bobo and mulkman.
It is reassuring that my device is ok and (hopefully) I am only imagining things
I haven't had the chance to charge from <50% to 100% but I will leave the phone to go below 50% over the next few days and charge it up to 100% and post the result.
Finally my phone discharged enough so i could do some charging.
Started at 44%
Total charge time 66 minutes to 100%.
Supercharge indicated 100% of time.
Meassured approx. every 10 mins (6 time points)

Hi!
Check whether the phone and the power adapter are connected properly. And you should use box accessories (original) charger.

Connection is as good as it gets and I use the charger and cable supplied in the box with phone.
Is ~40% - 100% in ~1 hour normal charge speed? (Phone is on, screen off)

Hi! Was your mobile data on while charging? Because it takes more time when mobile data is on or mobile is heated up.

Everything was on, but the phone was on WiFi. Temperature of the battery did increase to 32 degrees centigrade (checked in Ampere). The phone is in a original Huawei smart case, which may increase the temperature.
It's probably about right. It slows down at the top. Attaching a couple of charging sessions for comparison. You can see that the percentage per minute decreases when the battery reaches the higher levels of charge. At the rate of the first picture/occasion it would charge the battery in half an hour. But that's not the case since it slows down a lot.

Thanks!
It seems that my phone is behaving normally :fingers-crossed:
BTW I did test it with a new charger/cable and got the same results.

Good to hear.
Is your phone in one of those TPU case and if so remove it before charging your device.
The charging speed is dependent on the current battery temp so it may throttle if your device gets too hot

My phone is in an original Huawei flip-case. It is made of PU-like plastic/rubber material and must insulate quite a bit.

Yes most definitely.
Have you ever noticed that the phone gets warm during the first 0-70% of its charging cycle.
Towards the end the phone enters trickle charge mode to protect the battery

I haven't noticed before. I usually have my phone on the table while charging and i dont pick it up. But when monitoring with Ampere I noticed that the temperature went up.
