UNBRICKING EMUI 4.1
•Use when on stock EMUI 4.1 STOCK ROM ONLY
•Have a SDCard with at least 4Gb free space
•Have a PC with a SDCard reader
Note: This process uses the: " Three buttons method aka. Dload method and it will lock your bootloader (if unlocked) and restore stock recovery.
Procedure:
Code:
1.Create a folder named "dload" in the root of the SDCard (without quotation marks)
2.Extract UPDATE.APP file from b160.zip (you can find it in post 1.) update correspondingly to your phone model.
3.Place UPDATE.APP file in the dload folder on the SDCard
4.Insert SDCard in the phone

•If stuck with NRDM90 test-keys
Note: From my experience if you have problems with EMUI 5 this is the best method to recover from various sorts of issues. It will lock your bootloader (if unlocked) and restore stock recovery because it uses the " Three buttons method aka. Dload method

Yes, it doesn't use the recovery. It uses the secondary ERecovery. You enter it by powering off your phone and then by pressing all three buttons (hence the name).

download the stock rom suited for your device model and unzip the update.zip and copy the UPDATE.APP on your dload folder (you can create if you dont have)
and then turn off your device and press all three buttons (power, up and down volume buttons)
and wait for it to finish flashing the rom.
check also if your Bootloader is still unlock or not. :good:
I've tried this but update stuck at 5%.
Bootloader is unlocked maybe it's the cause or because update.app is on local memory not on external card ?
Thanks for your answer.
help me please
Flash any custom rom first

Downgrade P10 Plus from Oreo to Nougat - needs Rollback Firmware

Hello Guys,
It's now possible to downgrade P10 Plus from Oreo to Nougat
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible what happens to your device or if you active some nuclear missiles in the process
Prerequisites:
Oreo Firmware on your P10 Plus
Nougat Firmware for P10 Plus
HWOTA 8 from mankindttw https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-oreo-update-package-t3699522
Rename the files according to this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
Access to fastboot and adb
Downgrade Nougat
A. Put update.zip, update_data_public.zip, and update_all_hw.zip files into HWOTA8 repack directory.
B. Run repack.bat to update zip files.
C. Go through "Flash Update" steps and use repacked zip files.
D. Enter recovery and do factory reset.
Flash Update
A. Use Vol-Dn + USB Cable to boot into fastboot mode.
B. Use Replace_Recovery.bat in HWOTA8 to flash TWRP recovery.
C. Disconnect USB cable, use Vol-Up + Power to boot into TWRP.
D. Create "HWOTA8" directory in MTP sdcard.
E. Put hwota8_update.zip, MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img, and three huawei update package (update.zip, update_data_public.zip, and update_all_hw.zip) files into "HWOTA8" directory.
F. TWRP install sdcard hwota8_update.zip, it will reboot and install update automatically.
Hi!
I got this message when I flash the repacked (L29C432B164) zips with HWOTA8: "Software install failed! - Failed to check the update files. - Please download the package again."
Whats wrong? I've followed these steps, but it failed.
When I put Oreo .311 zips without repacking, but renamed (tutorial) in the HWOTA8 directory on my sdcard and install [hwota8_update.zip] with twrp it installs normal incl. verify BUT there is no change. Everthing is like before.
On my P10 (normal), after a factory reset with .311 it's now on build no. 8.0.0.046(01BN).
I cant downgrade to nougat or update back to .311
What can I do? Any suggestions?
Downgrade work only with rollback firmware like B217
Gesendet von meinem VKY-AL00 mit Tapatalk
Ok, than I have to wait or is there another way to leave the 8.0.0.046(01BN)?
There is a rollback firmware on firmware finder.
Gesendet von meinem VKY-AL00 mit Tapatalk
Do I need to install the rollback with firmware finder, manually flashing the zips with twrp or with HWOTA?
Install the rollback firmware via proxy in FF

I have done it only with rollback b217 and I think yes you need rollback packages
if i remove public with notepad, i get an error, if i don't remove it, install fail, any help
Source of firmware
may i ask where you got the firmwares
i get the rollback from FF, there is no other rolllback firmware for vtr-l29c636.

Vtr is not vky therefore it's P10 not P10 Plus
Why I cant repack ?
Downgrade Nougat
A. Put update.zip, update_data_public.zip, and update_all_hw.zip files into HWOTA8 repack directory.
B. Run repack.bat to update zip files.
C. Go through "Flash Update" steps and use repacked zip files.
I run "repack.bat" from Windows 7 it says the 7zip.exe are not compactible, any suggestions ?
How the repacked zip files loock like? I have downloaded the C432 Roolback firmware from Firmware Finder, must I repack them to ?

You didnt answer me on my Question
Becouse a lot of user dont understand and get confused I have made a new tutorial for Rollback from Oreo B321 C636 P10 plus, to Nougat VKY-L29 C432 B181 or other region like C185 or C636
BE CARREFULL AND READ THIS - Do exactly like this description and you will not fail
If you read 2 files , dont aske "can I use 3 files" , becouse there is writen 2 files
Also dont aske can I use "this" or "this" becouse you can only use this what is written and than you have no error.
For Rollback from Oreo B321 C636 P10 plus, to Nougat VKY-L29 C432 B181 or other region
like C185 or C636
What you need:
Access to fastboot and adb or Minimal ADB and Fastboot installed on computer( in root C: )
HWOTA8 from mankindttw https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...ckage-t3699522
Nougat Rollback Firmware for P10 Plus
I used this firmware becouse I have a 432 model:
VKY-L29C432B181 ( its a rollback for C432 on FirmwareFinder ) only 2 zips or
VKY-L29C432B185 ( its a new rollback for C432 on FirmwareFinder will lock bootloader ) only 2 zips
update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip and update.zip
Extract the downloaded HWOTA8_2017110501.zip to C: on Computer
Now Create "HWOTA8" folder in EXTERNAL sdcard, in this folder put only
from the extracted HWOTA8_2017110501.zip this 1 file:
MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img
also this 2 files from downloaded firmware:
update.zip - dont rename
update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip - rename to - update_all_hw.zip
for VKY-L09 instead of update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip you download the update_full_VKY-L09_hw_eu.zip and rename as abow described
and this moded - hwota8_update2.zip ( downloaded here as atached file )
It is moded so you need only 2 firmware files for Rollback and NO need to Run repack.bat to update zip files.
SO LETS GO
ON PHONE Use Vol-Dn + USB Cable to boot into fastboot mode.
flash TWRP8_3.0.3.img > comand: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP8_3.0.3.img
we use this TWRP becouse it is in HWOTA8 ectracted folder
Boot into TWRP and install from external sdcard hwota8_update2.zip, it will reboot and install update automatically.
After reboot you have Nougat B181 or B185 ( depend what you chose ) on VKY-L29C432
Thats How I did it in 15 minutes
Yes If you have another model not C432 you must download the 2 firmware files for your model region
I'm not responsible for any bricks.
If you fail you didnt follow exatly the tutorial
Reading is the Mother of Knowlege.
Woow Great Thank you

MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img file is fo Mate 9. It is the reason of my hard bricked Mate 9 Pro. It even doesn't support Mate 9 Pro; how can you think that it will fix your case?
Just try rollback otherwise wait for Official release of Oreo.
This worked fine for me,it took just over 10 mins and I'm back on nougat. I'd previously been on stock Oreo (rooted) and treble (I have a p10 plus VKYL29)

[HELP][SOLVED] Bricked my P8 Lite 2017

i need help to unbrick my p8 lite 2017,
to start my phone was with "cust c555 pra-lx1 emui 5.0.1"
my initial idea was to debrand the phone, but all the guides I tried failed, always returning to the original ROM stock,
then i backup my oem info image, custom.bin and build.prop...
then I wanted to change the method, trying to install oreo emui 8.x, with this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
but result was failed, (I only have a doubt, when I was downloading the zip file hueuupdater via twrp I was doing it from the elite twrp and not from the twrp nochek oreo.....)
* last attempt was flashed via elite twrp an oem info file img (of a fw base nougat nobrand, corrected for my model pra-lx1)
after having opened the file oem, the problems have started, the phone does not go in fastboot mode, it does not go into e / or twrp recovery, it turns on and always restarts, I tried to flash a fw using the dload method but it does not work, I tried to reinstall the fw via erecovery using the wifi but does not start, always error .". Getting Package Info Failed"
now I really need help to restart the phone, someone is kind enough to help me or suggest a proper guide, to unbrick my phone?
thank you
i solved with correct oem info eu!!
Try Firmware finder for huawei + erecovery method , which is :
- download firmware finder on *another android phone* and search for exact phone model (ex : PRA-LA1C185)
- choose the very first firmware down the list
- Get an update thorugh dns >> Manually >> Register update
- After that , reboot your bricked phone into erecovery by ( power + volume*+*)
- press download recovery and last firmware
- wait till getting package
- by now should firmware start downloading
- let phone complete it's work and reboot
Hope that's work for you ?

Flash stock updates when twrp is installed

I found an easy and convenient way to flash Huawei updates when twrp is installed. No data loss. In my case I updated from June to July patch without any hiccups.
1. Download the HWOTA8 folder zip to your device and extract it to the root of your SD card. I provided the link at the bottom of the tutorial.
2. Download the Huawei update and wait till it finished.
3. Boot to twrp and go straight to the HWOTA8 folder.
4. Now install the hwota8_update.zip, this will install a special no check version of the stock recovery.
5. After reboot you'll see a failed update attempt, ignore the message and boot to system.
6. Now that we have the stock recovery you can go straight to the update app in the settings and install the update.
7. After 5 minutes the update should be finished and the device will boot to system.
8. The bootloader will be still unlocked so you can modify again with twrp, magisk and so on. No data loss.

gude, tried this today to upgrade P10plus from .382 to .385. worked as promissed. afterwards just installed the TWRP and magisk to get back root. thx
Dear Sir,
Thank you for the clear and concise method for flashing stock updates when TWRP is installed.
Please help me with instructions how to upgrade my unlocked, rooted and TWRP installed Android 7 ROM to OREO.
My phone model number is: VKY-L09
Build number: VKY-L09C02B102
EMUI version: 5.1
Android: 7.0
Kernel: 4.1.18-gfd75bb
TWRP: 3.1.0-0
there is only one thing that makes me wonder: i cannot install a differential update, this always fails, so the complete package will download ( almost 3GB ), then the installation will be successful. any idea why?

Tried to flash twrp. Can't boot into recovery anymore.

Hi i tried to root my P9. I unlocked the bootloader successfully and i can flash the recovery but i can't boot into recovery anymore. I get stuck on "Your device is booting now...". Also i tried to flash twrp onto recovery2 which is often suggested and that didn't help either. What i find weird it that adb doesn't allow me to erase a partition "FAILED: (remote: Command not allowed). Also the phone still works normal and i can use android. I also tried to flash a stock recovery but that still doesn't boot into the recovery. I couldn't find any advice online that would help me further. Hope someone can help me out.

You probably flashed incorrect TWRP -
you didn't even mention are you on MM (EMUI 4) or N (EMUI 5)
Different TWRP images must be used, but from the corresponding XDA Huawei P9 (MM or N) threads - not something maybe from elswhere on Internet
Also, if it didn't work from Recovery then no chance that it would work from eRecovery (if wrong TWRP, not ported to Huawei P9 and your EMUI version, it will not ecognize partitions and encryption, no matter if flashed to Recovery or eRecovery)
For example, if you didn't spoil also eRecovery, you would be simply able now to (re)Install latest firmware and recovery from eRecovery, and it would fix your stock Recovery
Otherwise, you should flash Recovery and eRecovery (extracted by Huawei Extractor from update.app, unzipped from FullOTA update.zip corresponding to your exact stock firmware and build you have).
Or, reinstall your stock firmware by DLOAD method (FullOTA-MF-PV package must be used for DLOAD)
You can also just flash the correct TWRP (but I strongly recommend to recover the stock eRecovery anyway), find the correct ports for MM, N and O here:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75787111
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77161313&postcount=2
If you are on Nougat, you can also find on XDA (actually, zipped in HWOTA/HWOTA7 packages from links 2 and 3 above) the so-called no-check Recovery, it can replace Recovery (but not eRecovery) img for any EMUI 5 stock firmware)
---
Btw, for Magisk (root), you don't need TWRP. Just install Magisk Manager app and patch your extracted Boot.img (MM and N, on Oreo Ramdisk.img), then flash the patched img from Fastboot

TWRP.me (apparently) is the official TWRP site but you can see that they only have one TWRP img file (for each new TWRP release) for Huawei P9 (EVA) - hence they don't care, they are not aware of different organization of partitions (sizes, names and encryption) coming with different EMUI versions.
And from their P9 Changelog (screenshot attached) you can see that last adaptation for P9 was made in May 2016, when P9 had its original Marshmallow (EMUI 4).
Below is XDA thread from 2017 when Nougat (EMUI 5) was released and a guy who ported to (with description of changes he made). TWRP for EMUI 5 I gave you the link in previous answer is based on his port, but made after he stopped maintaining it (he moved off from P9), hence it is still TWRP 3.2.1.0 but with slight change (somebody else fixed/improved I think which partitions are mounted by default and/or what will be erased by Factory reset option - I don't recall details anymore)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3565703
Btw, you are not the first who soft-bricked P9 (with Nougat) by installing the 'official' TWRP (you could search here on XDA P9 sub-forum, I recall I similarly helped to two or three of them last year and this year) and who had to move to the proper port from XDA to unbrick - the 'official' TWRP seems to be good only for those who are stuck with Marshmallow / EMUI 4 from 2016 (most likely those who got stuck with the cust c900, 'international' cust at that time, that was never updated by Huawei to Nougat while they introduced new custs for different world regions, countries and operators when they started to sell and support the phone out of China)
It would be fair if TWRP.me at least makes a note on which stock firmware version they test their 'official' P9 releases...
