[GUIDE] Unbrick oneplus 5 with Official Unbrick tool | HARD BRICK | SOFT BRICK | - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

The OnePlus 5 Unbrick Tool was posted on online a few days ago on Chinese OnePlus Forum which they received via a OnePlus staff member. The tool is in many ways similar to the one provided for OnePlus 3/3T with the only difference being that it downloads, installs, and flashes HydrogenOS firmware exclusively.
The unbrick tool wipes your device and installs a stock HydrogenOS based rom on it.
STEPS
1. Extract Drivers and Recovery Tool files on Desktop
2. Shut Down your device (If the device is bricked, ensure that it has sufficient charge)
3. Hold the Volume Up button and connect device to PC
4. Open Device Manager on PC and find QHUSB BULK under Unknown Devices
5. Hit right click on the device and update device software. Refer to locally installed drivers if automatic installation fails
6. Your device should now be mentioned as Qualcomm 9008
7. Open the Unbrick tool with elevated privileges (as an Administrator) and hit Start on top left corner
8. Wait until you see a green text flashing. This ensures that the device has successfully been restored
9. Disconnect OnePlus 5 and reboot your unbricked device

[All-in-One] Redmi Note 7 (lavender): Unlock Bootloader, Flash TWRP, Root, Flash ROM

Dear Redmi Note 7 user,
I'm not responsible if anything happens to your device. If you execute these AiO procedures properly then you shouldn't face any problems.
Before you proceed please back up all your important data and make sure that your phone battery is charged >80%!
A. Prerequisites:
1. Disable driver signature enforcement in Windows
If your computer doesn’t recognize Xiaomi drivers then please disable driver signature enforcement. How to do this please read here: http://en.miui.com/thread-237673-1-1.html
2. Install ADB and Fastboot tools with drivers on Windows
How to do this please read here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Restart your computer.
3. Enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" in your device
a. Enable Developer Options in: Settings/About Phone/MIUI version. Click on MIUI version seven times
b. Now go to: Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options and check "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging"
4. Check if your bootloader is locked
a. After successful installation of "ADB and Fastboot" enter the fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable).
b. Go to the folder where you have put the "ADB and Fastboot" and open a command window inside that folder. To do that hold together "Shift + Right Click" on any empty white space inside the folder and then select "Open PowerShell Window Here" or "Open Command Window Here"
c. Enter the terminal command in command line: >>fastboot devices<<
If you don't see your device it means that the drivers weren't installed properly or the device wasn't connected properly. If this happens please reinstall your drivers from Point A. 2. or try these drivers here:
http://xiaomiadvices.com/download-xiaomi-usb-drivers/
d. If you see your device then enter the terminal command in command line: >>fastboot oem device-info<<
If your bootloader is locked, you'll get the following status (or something similar):
…………………………………………………………………….
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.058s]
finished. total time: 0.063s
………………………………………………………………………
If your bootloader is unlocked, you'll get following status (or something similar):
…………………………………………………………………….
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.053s]
finished. total time: 0.055s
………………………………………………………………………
5. Request Permission from Xiaomi to Unlock the Bootloader
a. Create a Mi Account: https://global.account.xiaomi.com/pass/register
b. Sign to Xiaomi and apply for unlocking https://en.miui.com/unlock/
6. Connect your Mi Account to your Device
Go to: Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options/Mi Unlock status and check "Add account and device"
B: Unlock the Bootloader
Unlocking the bootloader will erase all your data! So please back up your data before you unlock the bootloader!
1. You must enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" as per point A. 3.
2. You must connect your Mi Account with your device as per point A. 6.
3. Download Mi Unlock Tool here: https://en.miui.com/unlock/
4. Enter the fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable)
5. Start the Mi Unlock Tool
6. Enter your eMail and your password of your Mi Account
7. Connect you device to your computer and start the unlock procedure
8. Follow the unlock tool instructions until the unlock procedure is finished
9. Reboot your device
If you get the message, that the unlocking can be done after 72h or 360h or 720h etc., then you have to wait for that time to pass.
C: Install the TWRP Recovery
a. Your bootloader must be unlocked
b. The official twrp can be downloaded here: https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredminote7.html. However the official twrp for Redmi Note 7 is not yet available. For the time being please download the latest unofficial "twrp-x.x.x.img" from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-unofficial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3921637 and put it into a dedicated folder in your computer and rename it to "twrp".
c. Go to the folder where you have put the twrp-file. Now open a command window inside that folder. To do that hold together "Shift + Right click" on any empty white space inside the folder and then select "Open PowerShell Window Here" or "Open Command Window Here"
d. Enter fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer
e. Enter the terminal command in command line: >>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img<<. Attention: Do not restart your device otherwise Xiaomi's original recovery might overwrite the custom recovery twrp!
f. Boot your device into recovery (3 possible methods)
+ by entering terminal command in command line: >>fastboot boot twrp.img<<, or
+ by holding together "Volume Up + Power" until you see the MI logo, release "Power" button but keep pressing "Volume Up" until you see the recovery, or
+ by holding together "Volume Up + Volume Down + Power" until you see recovery
If you only want to root your smartphone, then please continue to point D
If you want to install a custom rom, then please continue to point E
D. Root Your Smartphone
a. Download latest Magisk from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 and put it into internal memory of your smartphone or into the micro sd-card or into on-the-go memory stick
b. In the main twrp screen please click "Install", search for the Magisk-*zip*-file and flash it
c. Restart your smartphone
E. Install A Custom Rom
1. Download the desired rom and put it into device's internal memory or into the micro sd-card or into on-the-go memory stick:
a. Lineage

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Question:
My computer doesn't recognize my device. What can be the problem?
Answer:
1. Check your cable if it is the original one, and if not then use the original one.
2. Check you drivers if they are installed properly and if not, then re-install them.
3. If the problem is not with point 1 and 2 then please try another computer.
Question:
Can I bypass the waiting time to unlock the bootloader?
Answer:
No you can't. You have to wait for that time to pass.
You know you can probably root without recovery using Magisk Manager and fastboot. You'll just need the original boot image which you should be able to extract from Xiaomi's firmware downloads.
any confirmation how many hours to unlock this device (after 72h or 360h or 720h) ?

Unfortunatelly the waiting time varies from person to person and also which smarphone model we are talking about. Until now the longest time I waited to unlock a bootloader was 72h. In Xiaomi forums people are reporting that they are waiting btw. 72h - 720h, sometimes even more than 1000h.

That's completely untrue. I do tutorials for these devices on my website Android Explained and have bought the latest ones from the Mi Global seller account on AliExpress.
All have been completely sealed devices, shipped a day or two after their Chinese launch, and once you can unlock the bootloader (you do have to wait a certain period of time), then you can flash the global fastboot ROM with either Mi Flash, or just using the flash_all.bat file

the person you quoted said 'without recovery'. . .not 'with a locked bootloader'
You'll still need to unlock the bootloader, but once you do then you can patch the boot.img file for the device with Magisk and then load it onto the phone (instead of installing TWRP and then flashing Magisk) to gain root access

That sounds interesting - so - please state if I'm correct:
Once Redmi Note 7 Global version is out, I could install the official Global ROM and this one would work and have OTA upgrades in future on my Chinese Redmi Note 7?
Thank you in advance.

Global rom for Redmi Note 7 is not available yet, and thus I can't test it myself yet, but judging by all other Xiaomi Smartphones I had until now (Mi 5, Mi 6, Mix 2s, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5 etc.) I was always able to flash the global rom on my Chinese version of these smartphones. Of course the bootloader will have to be unlocked. I'm quite sure that flashing the global rom on Chinese version of Redmi Note 7 will be possible too!

Yes, OTA will work! Android development on Chinese versions compared to Global version is a prerogative of developers. They decide which version of MIUI (Chinese or Global) they take as basis for their further development.

Unbrick Locked Redmi Note 7 ( This MIUI version can't be installed on this device )

I'm opening this topic because i was having a serious headache to solve my problem. You can find several tutorials on how to unbrick Xiaomi smartphones, but when the bootloader is locked it's another story. First of all, sorry for my english, i used Google Translator. That's said, lets go.
I bought my RN7 and it came with an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, GLOBAL version, and i decided to give a full wipe and LOCK the bootloader. That's when my headache started. After flashing using MiFlash and locking my device, when it booted, this message appeared: "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device". To my despair, the bootloader was blocked and i was unable to even install a custom recovery to try to reverse the situation. I spent an entire day without stop, searching on web how to solve this problem, even tried EDL mode + QFIL or EDL mode + MiFlash, but the same message remained when i tried to start my device: "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device ". For a few moments i thought i had lost my phone. Suddenly i remembered my Redmi Note 7 it came with a UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, then i remembered something else: with an unlocked bootloader, you can install ROMs from all regions (China, Russia, Europe, India, etc). After trying the EDL + QFIL method with an CHINESE ROM, my device started.
In short: the seller gave me a Redmi Note 7 from CHINA region saying it was GLOBAL, he must have unlocked the bootloader himself and installed a global ROM to trick me, even the RN7 box says GLOBAL VERSION. When i tried to lock bootloader and wipe, the global ROM was not compatible because my device was Chinese, not Global, and the message "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device" appeared. Above i inform my steps and i hope it helps many people who are going through the same situation as me, without further ado, follow all the steps EXACTLY in the same way and sequence, as there may be a problem if they try one step before the other:
Pre Requisites:
- Download QFIL
- Download Redmi Note 7 "firehose" (or your device version), in case RN7 lavender is the file "prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.mbn"
- Download and extract a ROM for the region you want to test (chinese ROM in my case, search on Google "chinese image redmi note 7")
NOTE: remembering that the ROM and region may vary, if yours does not work in China, try in another region that will probably work
Steps:
1 - Install QFIL
2 - Move the extracted ROM image folder (after you extract the rom, will appear a folder like "lavender_images_V12.0.1.0.QFGCNXM_20200714.0000.00_10.0_cn", for example) to the QFIL "Bin" directory (eg "C:\Program Files (x86)\QPST\bin")
3 - Copy the firehose file (prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.mbn) to the extracted ROM/images folder (ex: "C:\Program Files (x86)\QPST\bin\lavender_images_V12.0.1.0.QFGCNXM_20200714.0000.00_10.0_cn\images")
4 - Open QFIL AS AN ADMINISTRATOR
5 - Select Build Type: Flat Build, Programmer Path: select firehose file (prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.mbn), click on "Load XML" and select the XML files that will appear (in my case "rawprogram0" and then "patch0")
6 - At this point, you will have to enable EDL mode on your smartphone, you will have to open, disconnect the battery and cause a type of short for the computer recognize the smartphone on USB port
NOTE: please search for a video that teach how to do this, unfortunately i can't post videos here. Also, open the device manager of the computer and keep an eye on the session of "COM and LTP ports" so that when the device is shorted and you connect the USB cable on PC, it will appears there
7 - Click on the "Download" button and wait for the procedure to be completed
NOTE: if you have an error such as "sahara fail, download fail", it was due to not having performed the steps in that order. Follow step by step the way i told you, if you connect to EDL before opening QFIL it can go wrong, or not run as an administrator.
That's it, i hope it helps a lot of people, unfortunately i can't help more than that because i'm not an expert, i just showed my step by step to get me out of this situation. If you don't have a Redmi Note 7, have another device on the same line, you can try these same steps, only with another firehose file and another ROM, to see if it works. Don't give up, you manage to unbrick you device!
Hope this helps!

[OPN100][OOS 81AA/83BA] Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS

Disclaimer: By attempting any of the processes listed in this thread you accept full responsibility for your actions. I will not be held responsible if your device stops working, catches fire, or turns into a hipster and claims to have been modified before it was cool.
Hi everyone, similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO, regular OP7T, T-Mobile OP7T, regular OP7TPRO, T-Mobile OP7TPro 5G, regular OP8, T-Mobile OP8, Verizon OP8, Visible OP8, OP8Pro, OP Nord, regular OP8T, T-Mobile OP8T and Nord N10 5G here are the EDL packages (also known as MSM tools or unbrick tools) that can revive a bricked OnePlus Nord N100.
You should be able to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS with them if for some reason you want to go back to an older firmware
Please note that on N10 crossflashing regional builds is no longer possible by EDL, flash is tied to device project ID. I therefore expect same to happen on N100. For reference EU devices project ID is 20883 while international devices project ID is 20881.
BE81AA tools (global firmware):
ANDROID 10:
OOS 10.5.3
OOS 10.5.5
Mirror for first and last MSMs: https://onepluscommunityserver.com/
BE83BA tools (european firmware):
ANDROID 10:
OOS 10.5.2
OOS 10.5.6
OOS 10.5.7
Mirror for first and last MSMs: https://onepluscommunityserver.com/
Instructions:
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.
Press Start button so that it waits for your device to be connected
Power off your device
Maintain volume up and down buttons to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer.
Should you not manage to do that and have adb access, you can use adb reboot edl instead
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.
FAQ:
Does this work on Mac or on Linux?
Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.
Why is my antivirus freaking out when unzipping the archive or running the tool?
In an effort to protect reverse engineering from being done (and by extension prevent conversion process like it was done on 6T and 7Pro), OnePlus now use VM Protect V3 in their MSM tools. As this tries to detect debug environment, this is seen as malicious behaviour by some antivirus.
How can I check my device project ID?
Use getprop ro.boot.project_name. This however involve having ADB access or access to OxygenOS to use Termux or whatever terminal emulator you prefer.
My device isn't detected
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsof...updateid=8ee52ba0-bdef-4009-88cf-335a678dd67a ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
If you can't get into EDL mode by hardware keys, you may use adb reboot edl (will require your phone to still have ADB access)
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.
MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"
Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.
How can I fix "SMT config not found" error?

Correct, you can't do that with this tool.
However, OnePlus 8 and 8T T-Mobile versions users have been able to flash global software via fastbootd, so if you're lucky enough same may eventually work for N100.

Fyi you don't need latest version to unbrick your device, I just post them for the convenience of restoring to a newer build
So I've been trying to root my device and bricked it by using a process that won't work on my HD1907 T-Mobile Variant. Tried a few different methods and finally was able to get ADB/Fastboot to recognize my device as an "Android Device" by installing the OnePlus drivers for my phone. Well, now it's not working at all. Can't turn off the phone to get it into EDL since it just automatically boots up on it's own, but I can get it back into Fastboot mode. What sux is that I can't seem to get ADB to recognize the device anymore. Also, I haven't been able to use this method since my device shows up in Device Manager as an "Android Device", not the "QHUSB_BULK" that you mentioned in the post. Any tips on getting this method to work? Should I be able to just uninstall the OnePlus drivers and Install the Qualcomm drivers instead? Is there a way to get ADB to recognize my device and then try to flash a stock OS to the device that way?
Please, any advice would really be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, you are a lifesaver! I got myself into a weird position when trying to install Magisk (flashed the wrong boot.img) and this saved me. I got my phone from Amazon (listed as "OnePlus Nord N100 Midnight Frost Unlocked Smartphone, 4GB+64GB, US Version, Model BE2011") and although it was not the T Mobile variant, the pre-installed image lacked the ability to flash a local update (the gear icon was absent in settings -> system -> system updates). Now I have flashed stock Oxygen OS and all is well. As a side question, any clue what kind of weird build it may have shipped with?
can someone commen msmdownloader for realme x50 pro i downloaded other and they jist down wprk.
is it good for model BE2013?
THIS SAVED ME!
I just bought Nord N100 BE2011 from Best Buy (in California US)
I made the same mistake of extracting the updated boot.img 10.5.7 and patching it with Magisk without updating the rest of the system first. So the Boot partition was updated to 10.5.7 while the Oxygen OS and other modules were still on the stock 10.5.3
While the phone was rooted and I was able to install apps and google play etc.. the Phone and Voicemail Functions died with UI Error (SOFT BRICK)
This MSM Tool worked,
I did as the OP says, Download the File above (2.4 gb)
I downloaded the qualcomm drivers first from https://gsmusbdrivers.com/download/qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-driver-64-bit-windows/
then boot to edl using adb command:
adb reboot edl
Check to see if phone shows up in device manager as QDLOADER 9008. It is under COM ports
Then unplug the phone leaving it in EDL mode and run the MSM tool
when executing the MSM application it will prompt for login select: "other" from drop down
once the MSM program shows up plug in the phone
It should indicate that it is connected
press start.
On first attempt i received Error and followed the OP:
MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"
Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.
(to get it out of edl mode and into fastboot hold power and vol-up)
This worked and the download took 5 minutes.
Phone rebooted to factory settings (after being bricked) and I can receive calls
Cheers,
Alex
Hi,
Can I use this tool for Locked by Metro phone?
I received the Android 11 update and Wifi stopped working perfectly with constant drops. My version is EU, so I used this tutorial to revert to Adroid 10 and Global, and it worked perfectly.

when flash payload.bin, i got an error ''the following partition to flash may be unknown'' than i check the option ''ignor unknown partitions'' after complete the flashing payload.bin my phone bricked and no battery life !
Well I want to help so I copied and paste Theo from the oneplus 10 pro group on telegram what i posted here i hope this tutorial might help you
I didn't make this tutorial so if this works join the group and thank @docnok63 i don't know if this is also his XDA name if so then you can thank him on XDA
With an unlocked bootloader, Fastboot Enhance allows you to flash stock OOS without relocking the bootloader like MSM. It can also be used to downgrade your OS without losing data. To use it, download it from Github and:
1) Put the phone in fastboot mode and connect to PC
2) Launch the Fastboot Enhance app and double-click your connected device
3) Click the “Reboot to Fastbootd” button
4) Once in fastbootd, click the Flash Payload.bin button. If you get a warning about cow files, ignore and hit the Yes button
5) Select the FULL OTA.zip of your choice (incremental patches not allowed.)
6) The app will extract the payload.bin from the full zip and begin flashing automatically. Do NOT touch your device or close the app during this time or you risk bricking your device
7) Once done flashing, you will get a “Operation completed” dialogue box. Hit Okay and then hit the “Reboot to System” button. Profit.

Hey are you still having problems? Do you have a windows device to troubleshoot with?
I know you had a Mac before.
What state is your phone currently in? Still unable to boot?
You can force your phone off by holding the power button and both volume keys for an extended period of time, the phone will vibrate when it does, from then just hold down and power until it powers on, it may take a few seconds but it'll land you on a black page with recovery as one of the options, once in recovery choose from the 3 language options, from here with the up and down vol keys and power you should be able to wipe your system and recovery your phone, you will lose the content but this should work.
The only other option is to boot to the bootloader then use fastboot commands to put the OS back, or use fastboot enhance.

Question Bootloop after DSU loader

I wanted to try DSU loader and now my GT 2 is blocked, how do I fix it? Neither key combination seems to work
Hi! never flashed a realme phone before but maybe this will help you:
stock global a16 firmware :

and make sure you have "qualcomm fastboot drivers" installed (Google it, I don't know a recommended source) .
Good luck!

does "adb devices" or "fastboot devices" list something?
in device manager is the fastboot driver correctly installed? check min 5:00 from this video
I've managed to enter EDL mode powering down the phone (power + vol up 15-20sec) now the screen is black/off;
then holding both vol+ and vol- pressed connect USB cable and it will show in device manager (the screen still black/off)
It goes into EDL mode but after a few seconds it resumes bootloop

Everything seems to be installed correctly
sometimes is normal to exit EDL automatically (reboots) if the flashing software is not started. I've had similar experience with a mediatek phone that required to start the flashing process before connecting the USB to phone and once detected it started flashing the phone and didn't rebooted during the flashing.
unfortunately I am not enabled to use msm flashtool, it requires username and password, then I found another tool to flash Qualcomm but the firmware and .ofp and I can't extract it, I would need .img
this promises to decrypt ofp files:
GitHub - bkerler/oppo_decrypt: Oppo .ofp Firmware decrypter and oneplus .ops de-/encrypter
Oppo .ofp Firmware decrypter and oneplus .ops de-/encrypter - GitHub - bkerler/oppo_decrypt: Oppo .ofp Firmware decrypter and oneplus .ops de-/encrypter
github.com
nothing to do, I can't use fastboot, and no flash tools since the phone only goes in EDL mode, I don't know if MSM would work but I will never know since to use it you need a username and password Thanks to all of you for your interest I decided to make the return and return to Xiaomi which gives much more support
Any place with OTA firmware images or firmware than can be downloaded locally to phone and installed from phone?
