Colour coming off the corner of the black international version - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone else has the same problem as me. About two weeks ago I bought the Black International version, but today I noticed that on one of the corners of the metal housing the colour has started to wear off, revealing the silver metal beneath. Is this a common problem? Maybe it's just the black version that has this problem?
Thank you

Thats really bad. What did you do? I just ordered the black version and i am a little shocked because Xiaomi build quality has always been great.

I didn't really do anything special (no drops or anything), I just used it normally. I have been in talks with the shop where I bought it from, and they said the same thing - that the build quality is usually great. They are going to ship me a new one though, so hopefully that one won't have the same problem.

Diamond build quality *re-visited*

I know there is already a post on this, but it applied mostly to grey market diamonds. I would like to hear from some people who have recently bought official HTC diamonds from their service providers.
My phone's screen is perfect. No yellow tints and no lines/rainbowing. However, the top and bottom panels are not flush with one another meaning that at a certain angle, the backlight bleads out a little on the left side where the panels meet. In addition, the top panel does not align with the rim of the phone properly so that there is a thin gap - this is quite annoying as the gap appears to have already accumilated dust/lint.
My phone is from Orange and I received it a few days ago. I can't say that these 'issues' bother me too much, but I would like to hear how common they are and whether they might pose problems etc. If this is a rarity and I have been unlucky I may consider swapping it for another Diamond.
Thanks,
S.
*bump*
Why the silence guys? :-(
Share your thoughts please. I lead a pretty hectic life so build is v. important for me, so your opinions/perspectives would really help.
Only thing I have noticed on mine is that the printed ring around the wheely thingy is not central.
Seriously, I think it's fine.
My Diamond is perfect. Came from my provider here in Finland, and no issues with build quality at all.
Probably not silence, more likely most have no issues!
Certainly none with mine.
I have a TMobile MDA Vario IV Compact and have no hardware build quality issues (don't get me started on the default software branding ! YUCK !)
Fair enough. The question is, do I swap this diamond which works flawlessly and has a great screen, for another which in all probability will not, for the sake of cosmetic perfection?
I'm thinking NO.
Grey market ?!
My HTC is 100% official but I bought it directly from a high street dealer rather than from my GSM provider.
I usually do that for two reasons - Firstly it's quicker when you want to get hold of new trendy phones Secondly I don't have to bother with simlocking and operator limitations
....and the rebate is often better.
Please don't think that only operator branded copies are genuine.
BTW - You should keep your handset if you're happy with it

i have the same problem .. .. well it isnt really a problem at all ... and i have a dead pixel .. but just 1 pixel in a 640x480 screen is not noticeable at all
perfect diamond here. got it from provider first day it came.
got mine today on t-mobile uk. its perfect!
Had mine since it was launched on Orange and the only problem I have is one dead pixel which is stuck on blue. It's almost impossible to see without really looking for it though so doesn't really bother me.
same here.. bought it from vodafone. not a single *build* flaw
So no-one can see any amount of white light leakage through a tiny gap where the two panels meet then? I must have an extremely rare phone! lol.
I have a slight gap with light leakage, doesn't bother me as you can't really tell with the top and bottom screen protector on and lined up peroperly.
I don't think its very rare as I've seen a few video's with the same problem. I read someone on here had the same issue and tried returning it but was apparently told it was within HTC's build tolerance.
When you say screen protector, do you mean a third-party one you have bought yourself?
Interesting re HTC build tolerance. Hmm...
I use a martin fields protector which comes with the screen protector and a protector for the bottom button bit.

I have this "gap" as well, but it is miniscual and I'm sure its on most of the devices....you just have to look real Hard.
My gf's Diamond is almost perfect. I just noticed the stylus to be slightly misplaced... But she didn't even noticed it, so it's not a big deal.
Mine looks perfect, but I have a little backlight leakage on the bottom of my screen. Means a yellow/white spot on the bottom of my screen.

How hard is it to change the Xperia housing?

Hi,
I'm asking for some guidance from the people who have actually changed their housing on the Xperia.
I bought a silver one with some cracks, and some marks on the housing. However, €60 for a brand new black housing would be a good deal for me, as long as I would manage to replace it succesfully.
I changed the housing on my SE P1i from the silver one to a black one before, and already found that quite hard, and now that I've seen the instruction video and read the service manual on how to change the housing, I'm a bit hesitant about replacing it, in the fear that I would break my new €200 smartphone.
So, have any of you done this, how hard was it, and how much experience did you already have dis- and reassembling phones?
Also: Did any of you manage to break anything in the process?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad English,
Ed Banger

I think you can get complete housing for approx $100 if you shop around. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....Category=20345&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=1
Hi I also would like to change my housing because of some cracks, this is my first time. so will it be really difficult for a newbie?
also, where to buy to get the cheapest yet legit?
I found this cnn.cn is it safe everyone? it currently offers 79.99 USD for the full housing. is that the market price? thanks guys.
I changed a lot of phone houses and the one of xperia is easyer than nokia ones. if you follow the instructial movie on youtube you will not have any problem there are some dificult places.
here read this thread its posted by Crank1 its his experiance with changing the housing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550258
80 Dollar is the market price i think the cheaper ones are used or not originaly SE housing.
goog luck with changin the housing.
thanks for the reply, now its quite a dilemma which one I should buy, the used one is 43AUD while the new one is almost 100AUD. Is the new one really worth it? The used one description says its fascia while the 100AUD is OEM. any suggestion would be great. thanks
much harder than it looks

Yhea i beat yha
I did buy a new housing for 80$ and i did get buy a hard case for preventing it getting scratches.
so what did you do, you gonna give it a try?
80$ for housing, it must be gold housing to be charged at the price,
seriously, checkout ebay, amazon they offer lots cheaper.
i would pay $20 for housing only
Ive done a few already, not too hard if you know what you doing and be careful.
I have changed the housing of my Xperia partly. Read the story here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4403612&postcount=14
It's quite easy if the housing fits well, the cheap housing does not fit very well....
hey guys... i dont really want to change my housing cause its more or less 100%...
HOWEVER i have a slight problem with the screen not being tight (mate has the black one and apparently they dont have the problem - and i can feel his one doesnt move a mm when its extended... whereas mine has a slight give)
whats the best method to tighten it?

[Drama] Broken Display

I got a new, beautiful and smooth SIII Mini yesterday. My idea was to get a Nexus 4, but life, lemons, lemonade. Just when I was beggining to like it, beggining to make it mine, it slipped from my hands and landed on the hard and unforgiving floor of my kitchen. The horror.
The screen has now a thin crack crossing it horizontally and the display images are garbled. So I guess that's time to change the display.
Looking at Ebay I saw that replacement displays are crazy-expensive, around 300€, more than the price of a new phone. Usually screen replacements don't cost more than 50€. What's happening here?
I sent today Samsung an email asking how much for the repairs. As soon as I got the answer I'll post here, maybe there are other users with the same problem as me.
Is there anyone in a similar situation? How much was it?
You have some bad luck But i guess all new phones have expensive parts. Its just 2-3 months old.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry to hear that
Blue 99.50 €
White 99.50€
Update
Went to the official Samsung shop to ask.
Guy told me a strange thing: depending of the color of the plastic surrounding the screen, price varied from 80€ to 120€. If a blue replacement was needed, 80€, white, 120€. Mine is white. And he also told me it was "forbidden by Samsung" to have a white phone with a blue screen, it voided the warranty. Strange.
I'have the same problem! I was searching for a replacement for the glass, but I could only find the glass WITH touch ,lcd ecc. ,which was very expensive! Anyone knows if it's possible to find only the front glass?

I'm in the same boat as you. I upgrade in July and I know I'm definitely getting this phone but just don't know in which color. I'm leaning towards the silver one because it looks really nice and I've never had a phone that was not black. I'm going to compare both in person before I make a decision though

Silver because it looks good.
choice of colour will be subjective,i think- personally i prefer black
I had a long time to decide what colour I wanted to order. The phone came out in mainland China before it really got going in Hong Kong (the model I wanted), so I had a chance to see the phone whenever I walked past the million or so phone shops that dot this city. Prior to seeing the phone in person, I had decided from pictures and videos on the internet that the silver is the one to get. Once I saw the phone in person, I ended up at the store for about 20 minutes trying to choose one. Both colour options are very nice. After the 20 minutes, black was the one that I wanted. I went back and forth a few times over the next couple weeks, but I eventually stuck with my original choice. Silver is nice but, I found that if you weren't looking at it up close, it for some reason appeared cheap. The black looked great at any distance, and fingerprints weren't as bad as some people are making it out to be.
So my advice is to go to a store and check them out. You won't go wrong with either, but I think Black is the best buy (probably also helps my last phone was the white One X).
*edit* The silver ones I have seen here have all had pretty terrible build quality compared to the black. Gaps and raised speaker grills a plenty.
Silver is pretty sharp!
Black is well, black...kinda boring IMHO.
Black looks stunning to be honest. But Just stick to the silver.
Having seen chips on the black one in person recently, I will again say that stick to silver.
From my HTC One, right in your face....
Silver for me because I tried black unit. All my fingerprints

Replacement Back Cover in Blue

Hi Guys,
after putting one of these QI receivers with adhesive on my P9 and having it there for a few month, the back cover got a slight dent. Nothing major but it reeaaally bugs me. I have the P9 in grey but after seeing the blue one i figured i wanted to replace the back side with the blue one. The problem is: I can not find it anywhere. The colours available from release are all there, even the red one shows up here and there but not the blue one. Has anyone of you guys seen it around anywhere?

hi,
you can not replace the back cover as it is a unibody phone. meaning you would have to remove the entire screen, motherboard and transfer it into another empty uniboday frame

it is true and i totally understood what you said. But the grey part is a unibody metal piece that can not be simply removed as if it was the BACK COVER of a samsung galaxy s2 which allows you to put in/take out the sim card, battery and micro sd card.
Probably easier too buy a skin from dBrand
As aceclift said, you can just take back cover from another phone and just put it there. If you actually watched those teardown and read what they said about it, its unibody that contain few major components, and you actually need to put all internals from your device, including most tricky part, the screen, to that new housing.
And I can say that looking and your approach to that question, you would fail to disassemble your device and replace that housing, because its not "plug&play" you need some knowledge, experience and patience to do this.
Also Blue and Red versions of P9 are actually really exclusive versions, and its hard to get them(I wanted red so trust me I searched for it for some time). So if its hard to find actuall phone, finding housing from it its almost impossible.
As telsims said, its better and cheaper to buy Dband skin::
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/accessories/skin-dband-supports-huawei-p9-t3388706
I made one my self with carbon fiber look and its amazing, so if you bought one it would be even better.

I had a Dbrand skin on it for a while but i just did not like at and the blue just looks amazing. I don't know, where you see the difficulties here. I mean you unscrew two screws get the assembled unit out of the frame and disconnect the fingerprint sensor. Done. You can buy the unibody in the other colours including the fingerprint sensor and the you just connect the fingerprint sensor put the unit back in and insert the screws. I once replaced the screen from a HTC One X and that was a lot more complicated.
I mean look at the ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDPRtzjqSlo its just that last three steps.
original back housing of Huawei P9
If you want to change the skin of Huawei P9, replace the back housing of Huawei p9. I followed the video of witrigs to replace the back housing. It looks great. Blue is the best color!
