1. get a file explorer with root
2. download this font pack here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ont-pack-966-fonts-one-apk-s6-s6edge-t3154336 (or this, link from same thread: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847292972)
3. extract it, navigate to SamsungSans folder and copy it
4. copy the folder + font apk file to your sd card or usb otg
5. open up root explorer, give it root permission, make sure it is r/w and not r/o, and then navigate to /system/app/ (make sure again its r/w and not r/o)
6. copy SamsungSans there
7. change file permissions, SamsungSans folder = rwxrwxr-x, but the APK file change it to rw-r-r
8. reboot
9. you should be able to use any font available as you wish now
EDIT: SORRY just realized you said you're NOT rooted. my apologies, but i'll leave the guide there for anyone who wants to change fonts but dont know how to (on rooted devices)
for your case, due to samsung needing to have some sort of digital signature in order to use 3rd party fonts, the only way for you is to buy them on the store.

How to change icon apps on the app drawer? (rooted)

I'm trying to change the icons on the app drawer with Root Explorer but I can't find the correct PNG to replace that on the system/app/"application.apk"/res/drawable/_____.png
Anyone knows the right name of the icon?
Thanks!
res/drawable-hdpi/file_manager_r.png ypu will have to turn the apk into a zip then put your new file into the hdpi folder and change the zip back to an apk then re install
Can I follow this steps with the Captivate or I need to do this on the computer?
Any easy way?
Thanks for the tip!
hi, i changed an image in drawable-hdpi in "phone.apk" (ic_jog_dial_unlock.png) like aceman said, but if i try to install new phone.apk it says "application not installed" (or something similar, my language phone is not english). how can i install new phone.apk??
I tried to istall it from recovery and there is the same result
thanks
You have to push the phone.apk file into /system/app with a root explorer or adb. Just installing it won't work like most other apks.
i have "root browser", can i use it? can u say to me all the steps i have to do with it or adb? i'm not an android expert user...
up...anyone ca help me?
install a different launcher app that lets you customize it. try launcherpro from the android market.
you wont understand the mod instructions.
screw it here they are...
mod instructions... basic if you need more info. learn to search there are 4000 guides on how to change an app image.
you need winrar on windows. if you arent running windows you should know better.
use root level file manager to go to 'system/app' folder and copy your launcher.apk to sdcard.
copy to PC
right click .apk > open with... > choose program > WinRar
look through folders inside APK and copy all folders with .PNG images to desktop (or work folder)
look through the images in the folders (change veiw to thumbnails) and find the name of the image you want to change and the name of the folder it was in.
Go get, or create your custom image, and name it that name. **Close to original shape size.
Use winRar to open the .APK again and naviage to the place where your image goes and drop the new one into that folder.
A window with options will come up and select Compression Profile : STORE
Click ok
Close winrar.
Copy .apk to SDcard
Use root file manager to rename original /system/app/launcher.apk to launcher.apk.bak (backup)
Then copy your modded .apk to /system/app.
Reboot (pull battery)
DONT MESS WITH ANY IMAGE ENDING IN .9.PNG only regular .pngs
for more on .9.pngs... search google.. what is ....
i*have*to*modify*phone.apk,*no*launcher.apk..*i*just*did*steps*you*sayd,*but*if*i*try*to*rename*phone.apk,*my*nexus*goes*in*full*crash
fist off this is the Captivate forums. not nexus.
and i was giving help to OP question not yours. either way the *stars*and*sp ac*es are friggin annoying. use your computer if your phone is messed up.
if you "tried" to modify the name... DID IT? try doesnt tell me much.
if it wouldnt let you, then nothing changed and your phone is screwed up from something else.
if it DID rename, then CHANGE IT BACK.. duh.
sorry for space and *, i wrote it with the mouse using google translate keybord and i saw them when i cut/past the text
i "tried" to rename phone.apk, so the phone went in a full crash and i had to restore system using an old backup in recovery

Try apktool to extract all replace wteva ocon u want to and rebuild apk using the same tool and u need to sign the apk usin signapk tool so that device can recognise the.apk file for installation. I have done this and everything went fine in galaxy note. But i couldn't locate the file to rename the icon. Icon changing was not a prob.

[FONT][WIP][HELP]Comfortaa font

so i've made a flashable zip of the comfortaa font, but for some reason it puts the phone into a bootloop upon flashing.
anyone wanna check the files out and point out what the problem is? thanks,
Cole
Are you rooted? If so, just use Custom Android Font or Font Installer from the Market. You will then have over 150 fonts to choose from, including Comfortaa.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Post above this is probably a better and easier option, but looking at the zip, I'd pull out the DroidSansFallback, Clockopia, and DroidSansMono , then flash and see if u get the same results.
I haven't investigated fonts too much in ICS, but in previous builds (gingerbread), the flashable font zip really just needed to have DroidSans.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf and Clockopia.ttf to replace your font.

any help is appreciated
i just tried to re-do it like 5 times in a row, took out the fonts mentioned, pulled a different updater script and update binary and still no luck :/
the steps i'm taking are,
1. build all the files in the correct folders
2. zip all the files compression method Store with winrar
3. put the files in my SignApk folder
4. sign the files
5. take the zip and install via recovery
then i just boot loop :/

You don't have to do all of that, unless you're just trying to do the script yourself as a challenge .
Find a working flash able font zip (check evo themes section), use 7zip to replace and remove fonts, and see if that works. If it does, then u can go script happy from there, knowing that those contents worked at least.

What did I do wrong?
Thanks
Eli
can't create folder
just copy all this fonts to system --> font[/QUOTE]
hi
i can't create te foldet to put the fonts
(the phone is rooted )
worked perfect.
download the zip file from an earlier post, take the 2 .tff files that include the word 'Hebrew' in them.
copy these 2 files to your system storage somewhere you'll remember.
now use a file browser on your device to access the Root 'System' folder (i just used Root Explorer) and copy the 2 files from the location and paste them into System/Fonts. (YES, of course you have to be rooted to do this)
change the permission to rw-r--r-- like all the other files.
reboot.
Hebrew is great in the system now.
can't find the fonts
I've tried doing what is written here to no avail.
I have rooted my phone and copied a hebrew.ttf file into the system\font and it is not working.
The file referred to earlier isn't available. Is there a specific font that works?

[Guide] Using iOS-Style Emojis on Android N Developer Preview

Good morning all,
Before getting a Nexus 6P around a week ago, I had been using an app called "Emoji Switcher (root)" to use the iOS-styled emojis in conjunction with Google Keyboard. I prefer to use this emoji style, despite Google's updates, because many of my friends and family use iPhones, and I like to make sure we are conveying the same message as emojis are a very visual language.
Emoji Switcher (root) Thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722892
I was looking to replicate this on the Developer Preview of Android N, and after a great deal of headache going through many incompatible apps and methods, I have figured it out and would like to spare anyone else who is interested the headache. Many root file explorers will not allow you to modify the system .tff file that controls the emojis across the device, so I had to get old school with it.
I first downloaded a .tff file from the thread below that includes all of the iOS emojis through Unicode 9 as well as the Unicode 10 candidates that those of us on Android N have on their keyboards currently. Download and unzip the attachment "iOS_unicode9_emojis_Mr.Yawnie.zip." You do not need any of the modified keyboards if you are on Android N! Within this container is the file "NotoColorEmoji.tff." This is the same name as the file we will be replacing, just keep it in your downloads folder for now.
Mr.Yawnee's iOS Emoji Thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gene...mojis-t3348544
Next, you will need to reboot into TWRP and mount the system partition. When your system is mounted return to the TWRP home screen, go to "Advanced," and then "File Manager."
Within the File Manager navigate to the root folder --> System --> Fonts, and scroll down until you see the file "NotoColorEmoji.tff." This is the standard emoji font that Android pulls for your keyboards, incoming messages, etc. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE. Simply rename the file to "NotoColorEmojiOld.tff" (Or whatever you would like to call it) and LEAVE IT IN THE FONTS FOLDER.
Now, still within the TWRP file manager, navigate back to your downloads folder where you unzipped the "NotoColorEmoji.tff" file that we downloaded earlier. Simply copy this file into the / --> System --> Fonts folder we were just in. It will not overwrite anything since we renamed the original file.
Unmount the system partition and reboot your Nexus. Your emoji should all be updated and replaced with iOS-style emoji! These emoji are working on the stock keyboard for me, and I imagine that since they replaced the system font they should work with any custom keyboards you may be using.
If you wish to revert, simply reboot into TWRP, mount system, go back into the Fonts folder, delete the "NotoColorEmoji.tff" file that we added in, and then RENAME "NotoColorEmojiOld.tff" to "NotoColorEmoji.tff." You can potentially get your phone into a bootloop if you do not do this step!!
Credits and thank you to @Mr.Yawnie for the wonderful emoji .tff, and thank you to @D_Steve595 for the Emoji Switcher (root) app that I would typically use and have enjoyed so much.
Please go easy on my forum skills as this is my first post on XDA. I will answer and questions as well as I can. I am excited to repay this amazing community with some knowledge of my own!
Cheers,
Eric
@Mr.Yawnie, would you be cool with the iOS emoji font being added to Emoji Switcher?
I was able to do this all within the OS using Root Explorer Pro. Thanks for the info - was curious about this myself!
@Nitemare3219 How were you able to mount system with the phone running? For the life of me I couldn't get any root file explorers to even let me change permissions on anything in my system folder.

I literally hit the button that said MOUNT R/W when in the system folder. I can swap back and forth between the two with no issues, running latest SuperSU beta & BusyBox.
Thank you for sharing these links. I too prefer these emoji. Worked perfectly.
Well I ****ed up... I tried using it on Es file explorer now I need the original ttf ..
Can someone upload
Update *** I got it back...

[PORT] Samsung J2 2016 Theme Store Access

Hi,
All Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 & J2 Pro owners out there, you have choice of only 4 themes to choose from with no theme support (?).
In fact, J2 (2016) series has theme support but has been kept away due to some reasons. I had endlessly searched for theme store access but found it very difficult.
MOST IMPORTANT: This method has worked for me, it may not work for you, do it at your own risk, I am not responsible at all for ALL/ANY of the damage caused to your device / file systems /data etc. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, I REPEAT, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Requirement:
1. Rooted J2-6 (Must)
2. Root Explorer or any file manager capable of handling permissions
Finally, I did following:
1. Change build.prop to that of Samsung Galaxy S7
i. Change ro.product.model=SM-G930F from ro.product.model=SM-J210F
2. Copy following S7 apps to /system/priv-app folder:
i. ThemeCenter.apk (first create folder in the same name, please note that it is case sensitive, then copy this file into that folder)
ii. ThemeStore_3xh.apk(first create folder in the same name, please note that it is case sensitive, then copy this file into that folder)
iii. Please note that folder permission must be set to 0755 and apk file inside folder must have permission set to 0644. (Without this it will not install)
iv. Example: (system\priv-app\ThemeCenter\ThemeCenter.apk)
v. For change of permission, you may refer to various discussions available on xda forums
3. Remove Themes.apk (It is basically a theme chooser app and it will not allow theme store) from system/priv-app {Use system app uninstaller to uninstall theme program easily / Beware: You will lose your pre-install theme by doing this !
4. Install the pasted apk manually by tapping install, it may say not installed, but rebooting few times will install
5. Now open Galaxy Apps, Click on Category, you will see SAMSUNG THEMES with brush logo, click on it and theme store will open, tap the add shortcut to home screen.
6. Download and install any theme you want, Enjoy
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still I have few issues, developers can look into this:
1. How to merge native theme in launcher with theme store (So stock themes can be applied as well - Not required if full theme support can be ported)
2. When I click on My Themes section in theme store, it force closes. (Solved this by installing deodexed J5 2016 touchwiz launcher)
3. Partial Theme Support - Following items are not themed OR themed partially:
i. Dialler
ii. Contacts
iii. Keyboard
iv. Lock Screen wall paper not applied
v. Animated themes not working
If anybody interested in solving this, kindly post a method, also confirm if framework-res.apk needs to be modified ? (I am not pro at such level)
Thanks.

Okay, I've installed build.prop editor from the play store. However, the ro.product.model, had no numbers at the end.
It only shows the model of my phone, (SM-N910T). Which of the models do I change it to? Also, I do have a file called: build.prop, in my system folder. Should I change that file to Samsung Galaxy S7?

I believe that your phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and it might not have theme chooser, since method I posted is for J series, you can still continue and install theme center as usual.
You should give it a try. Please follow all steps (which are applicable) and go ahead, it should work.
Please carefully go thorough each step of my post.

Okay, so, I have tried it and everything was going well until I pressed "Samsung Themes". Upon pressing I was then sent to install update, which gave me no success. I got an error me sage (S11) and tells me to try again later... and so I have, but it only leads to the same error message. Could there be an updated version of theme store? Also, I cannot find the file using system uninstaller.

Share the following Screenshots:
1. System/Priv-app folder (Use root explorer or similar app, sort it in the manner which displays themestore and themecenter folders)
2. About Device (this will display mobile model No.)
Most likely there is minor error, which will be fixed, dont worry.

One more thing, dont download the themes right away, click on "More" in top right corner, click "Settings", Click "About Samsung Themes" and update the theme store version (it will automatically, if not, try manually).
Reboot and retry.
Thanks.

Galaxy apps under settings doesn't show about samsung themes. Not sure if that is what you were referring to. And it shows that the app is up to date.
The original model of my phone is: N910T
