Oneplus 3T battery drain problem - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I'm facing battery drain problem in my Oneplus 3T device. When I sleep I switched off data connection but it drains at around 2% per hour. But in my previous phone (Xperia Z3) it drained around 4-5% whole night (6-8hr) even data connection is on.

2% per hour is not really a "battery drain". If you use draining apps (for example, the Facebook apps), they are probably still running in the background (even if you have no data). You should check out the Battery section in the settings app, when you pick one of the apps that it has detected that's using your battery, you can see the "CPU Foreground" and "CPU Total". If the total is greater than the foreground CPU time, then the app is using a decent chunk of your battery life while you're not actually using the app.
When you find the apps killing your battery life, you can use something like Greenify - which is an app that hibernates each individual app that you select. This requires root, of course. You can also try using the app Naptime - which puts your phone into hibernation mode immediately after your screen turns off and again requires root. Either app should help you get sub 1% idle battery drainage. Hope this helps...

Use Betterbatterystats to trace the wakelocks that are causing the problem.
Then you can use Xposed+Amplify to limit them or use a custom kernel for better battery handling.

Battery Problem in Official 4.3

Hello folks,
Yesterday i finally became tired of the ridiculous battery life my phone was geting in official 4.3 rooted. I tried another kernels, uninstalling facebook, facebook messenger (those are said to drain battery) and finally i saw something that was the cause: ~30% of battery usage was by Android System, aka samgung included apps. I installed some ROM without those samsung bloats and seems like the battery is normal again (like it was with 4.1.2). I'm still testing and would be awsome if someone else can get a lot more battery life without those samsung apps and be happy again, like me.
By the way, i installed THIS ONE, but i'm almost sure any 4.3 stock rom without those excluded apps will be fine.
BEFORE: Overnight i had ~4% of battery drain with EVERYTHING turned off, wifi, gps, everything!
NOW: Last night i had ~3% of battery drain with wifi and data ON!
Weird isn't? I think our phone had a very bad OTA this time. Share your experiences! Hope you all get a better battery with this
world wide web says 4.3 OTA across all models has a negative battery defect.
did you root directly from android 4.3?

Yes, before and after the ROM i mentioned (EVR, link in OP)
Reporting:
Right now, my battery level is 40%. Phone is on 1day and 5hours, moderate use. Here is my usage:
WIFI always on yesterday since 3:00pm, switched it off about 12:30 am.
About 12:40 am i switched mobile data on. Mobile data was on til 9:00 am, then i switched all toogles off.
Turned on WIFI AND mobile data about 4:00 pm and until now its all switched on except GPS.
When battery reached something like 5% i will update the post.
Reporting 2:
Now my battery level is 5%, here is my usage since last report. Something i didnt said earlier is that im usimg agni kernel 3.3, cause boeffla caused me random reboots. Using zzmoove as governor and everything else with default values:
WIFI on til midnight, hear some music before this on phone speaker
Switched all off on sleep, at this time (12:40 am) battery level was about 26%
Today turned WIFI on about 9:00 am listening music and browsing
Bellow are screenshots of battery stats today

Battery issues

I think I have an issue with my battery, or possibly phone!
On my Galaxy S3 LTE I've been experiencing very poor battery life recently and have tried a few suggestions to improve it.
I have kept the screen brightness on -5, I have applied Power Saving Mode, disabled 4G mode (not using currently anyway) and installed a battery saver app (Internet Commander). However none of these seems to have made a difference!
As an example, here is my phone at 5.36 this morning on 71%. That is after I took it off a full charge at 11.30pm when I went to bed. So in Standby it had used 29% in around 6 hours. Then it just got worse through the day...

At 3.23 I had just 8% battery left!! And that was after a top up charge of about 20% around 11am!! I had listened to half a dozen songs on the phone but thats it!
As you can see I do have data enabled, and just the standard apps installed (WhatsApp, KIK messenger, facebook, BBC Weather, Sky News, etc...). I also only have 1 widget on my home screens which is the BBC Weather app widget.
Could it just be a faulty battery? Would a faulty battery cause this kind of rapid decrease?

I blame those battery intensive apps showing in your statusbar. Your battery is being used by Cell Standby, this is your Data connection being used to receive notifications. The fact that you have high Google Services percentages also points to this since it uses your wifi and radio to get your location periodically when set to do so. Start by disabling feature under location settings. Next, have a look at Android Device Manager in Google Settings, disable the location setting if you do not intend to use it. Anything that uses your Data, will cause more drain, especially on higher bands like HSPA.
Again, Whatsapp and Kik will constantly receive push notifications and sync, this also adds to your battery drain.
Thank you, I will try your suggestions
Hi, i had the Problem with huge batterx drain too. The battery didn't last much longer than 8 hours. My phone didn't go to deep sleep mode
I then installed wake lock detector and One Power Guard. In One Power Guard i aktivatet AI mode and now it looks like this:
Hope this helps

Battery Drains faster when in Airplane Mode.

Hi guys
So for some reason on my rooted Samsung Galaxy the battery drains quicker when listening to music in Airplane on than with a cellular and data connection :/ any ideas why? Background processes running and trying to access the internet or something?
Any advice would be great. This is really irritating as from 7 AM to Noon only listening to music my Battery life goes from 100% to 50-60%. :banghead: Thanks all!

My first guess would be that your music player is trying to use network services to get more stuff, and the phone is searching for the connection that is unavailable due to airplane mode.

Have you looked at the battery consumption to see what it's reporting as the power draw?
Settings -> System -> Battery
For example, mine shows Rocket Player #1 at 25% and Android OS as #2 at 15%, but that's after listening to music over bluetooth off and on from 7am to 2pm. Currently with 78% charge remaining.
Then click on the graph and you can see the battery 'curve' and the small dot graphs below showing Mobile network signal/location on/awake/screen on/charging.
In your case I'd be real interested in those graphs - see if there's anything forcing wifi/location/mobile network on when they should not be, also see how much 'on' time there is.
If that doesn't help you may need a more intrusive inspector like GSam or BetterBatteryStats or Wakelock Detector.

Go into Wi-Fi settings, 3 dots up top, advanced, turn off always allow scanning. That may be some sort of wake lock also.

Battery Drain

Hi everyone, currently I'm a bit frustated by the battery issue that I have on my Samsung Galaxy Note 5(SM-N9208)

is it normal to have device idle and android os > screen ?
With that screenshot, my SOT is only 1hour 20mins
is there any apps to track down what is draining the battery ?
And I think that the percentage is shown is wrong?
Best regards,
Alex Yamin
I think you're right in saying that the idle shouldn't be that high, maybe an app you recently downloaded?
How long has it been this way?
My battery isn't that great either and sometimes even Pandora or Spotify drain my battery faster

When I'm at work, I don't play any music/games, mostly only whatsapp, telegram, instagram, and a few calls
I think it's already been half a year, been a bit frustating to bring powerbank anytime you go
I also tried to install GSAM battery monitor, saying my battery usage is 15.5% per hour, pretty insane but it is

Whoa... That's a lot. I use YouTube a bit, Spotify, stitcher, WhatsApp, messenger, maybe Gmail sometimes i use a gear S2 and Bluetooth headphones which is why I drain my battery so quick, when I don't use them it lasts me all day... but when I do have them on I always have to charge my phone at lunch or i won't make it thru the work day.
I'll post a pic before I start charging my phone...

Question What would allow airplane mode to cause "Google" app to consume 30-40% battery overnight?

Overnight, my phone discharged from around 40% to zero and turned off while it was in airplane mode. Confirmed aiplane mode was still active after charging up and turning back on. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Battery info showed the app "Google" seemed to be to blame. Is there a way to diagnose what aspect of Google was messed up and confused to cause this excessive battery use in airplane mode? Or how to diagnose what other app I was using that may have been buggy and interacted with "Google" to cause this nonsensical battery usage when airplane mode was turned on?
Here is the chart showing the constant smooth line from when I went to bed and turned on airplane mode, leading to zero battery:

Take out the trash; any social media apps. Amazon and Netflix are two I'd never allow to install or run.
Google backup Transport and any apps storing in the cloud. It shouldn't be necessary to put into airplane mode at night; use do not disturb.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services and see if that gets it. Gmail, Playstore and Google backup Transport are dependencies of it.
I normally keep it disabled unless I need it; nets me 1-2% @hr better SOT.
How do any of those apps use so much battery when in airplane mode?
I'm just confused how the phone itself is dissipating power without using the radios....?

Why does the phone attribute their power consumption to the app "Google"?
Why does Google consume all the power?
Update: after clearing cache for entire phone, the problem no longer occurs.
Overnight, the battery percentage drops 2% when I turn on airplane mode.
The app "Google" no longer tops the list of battery offenders.
But I'm still curious why the app Google would consume power?

Data conflict.
You shouldn't need to turn off data and usage at night by Google should be near zero if optimized.
As is Google is still an issue on that device.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services at night with airplane mode off.
