Are there any bumpers or cases that let me use mods? - Moto Z2 Force Accessories

I would have thought there would be more of this sort of thing.

I second this. A nice tempered glass and a bumper case is all this phone needs. One with mod support would be guaranteed to get my purchase

Don't think it is possible. The mods sit flush with the phone. The bumpers to fit right needs lips on both sides to hold onto the phone.

I ordered the 2 tone bumper from Verizon.
https://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/vzw-two-tone-bumper-for-moto-z2-force-edition/
I don't care if I have to take it off to change mods at all. I just want a bumper that can work with mods.
Some one did say they shaved the plastic tab and it worked. I'll let you all know.

It works fine. I can use my battery mod and I don't see why other mods won't fit. There is a tab on the bumper that goes into the finger nail Grove on the mod. I think cutting that of would made this better but all any all it works how I want it to. Protection and mods.

The Verizon Z2 play bumpers work perfect, and with mods! Got mine today, and tried it with the speaker (jbl2), and the battery pack (Moto branded)

Do you have to take it off to change mods? Also, do you know if it works with the car dock mod?

Nope, mods change without taking off the case. I'll try it with the car mod tomorrow to make sure, but the Moto rep just messaged and said it shouldn't be a problem.

I bet there are some mods that may be affected. For example just eyeballing the Controller mod you can tell it isn't going to work. There may be others due to side of the mod.

I'm waiting for the controller mod to appear in public . Haven't seen it anywhere. But for the everyday usage, most would probably have the battery mod, speaker mod, or car mod I'm guessing. Maybe even the camera mod.
I'm gonna see if I can buy a controller mod online so I don't have to wait until it arrives in a local store.
So far though, the battery mod feels amazing with this case .

It is sold only by Verizon. They have the exclusive for God knows how long. You can order it from their website and select stores.

I have the controller mod, and I FIRMLY believe that there is zero chance that a bumper case would work with it.

The corners actually touch the controller mod, but there would be enough room all the way around the sides, top, and bottom.

I think I can live with this one not working. I'm a bit disappointed in Android gaming.
BTW do you have anything great to play at the moment?

I am a stickler for old school games. I use an emulator as well as I have purchased a lot of the retro games out there lol. I am going to get this simply because the controls I have bought or tried just doesn't do it for me. Just haven't had the time to go pick one up at Verizon if they carry them there. I just peeved Motorola made it exclusive.

It works right out of the box with all the emulators I've tried thus far, and when you install the mod's app it has a section for games you can get from the Play store (mostly free games)

I'm on the fence about the controller mod. I might just be to old for the emulators lol. I've played a lot of the classics on multiple platforms over the years. But I do love games.

I use the projector mod with my stratus XL controller... It's pretty EPIC

Amazon has a few of the Verizon bumper cases for the Z2 for about $8-12.

I use my old z force bumper on my Z2. Fits good and the extra thickness helps blend in the sides of the turbo mod. So it feels more like a z force with the Incipio mod.

Bionic Lapdock works!

Just went out and bought one for 50$. Droid 4 fits perfectly with no need to modify anything at all, fits and works.
As an owner of the Bionic Lapdock, and a Droid 4, I must partially disagree.
The Droid 4 does not fit snugly. It does work, but it does not sit flat, and cannot be used with the OEM case. You have to remove the shell case to use the docking mechanism (unlike the bionic).
It is, however, a minor inconvenience for such an awesome accessory. Also, those that use webtop 3.0 beta (from the leak) will find the controlls are not the same on the docks for as they were for the linux based version of webtop.
I still wish there was a tablet-like dock similar to the Asus PadFone.
What are you talking about? It fits 100% snug doesn't move at all. And who uses cases anyway?
Anyone got pictures of this? I would love to see, as I'm tinkering with the idea of getting one if I can see how it looks.

Well, I use a kickstand case/holster combo and yeah, it's not petite, but I'm 6'7" (2m for your Euro types) and 300 lbs (> 135 kg, > 21 stone for you English traditionalists) and it's not outsized in my hand or on my belt.
So, yeah, some of us use cases.
TBH, the Bionic lapdock not being case-friendly isn't the crippling liability. The real seal-the-deal disqualifier is the fact that the Bionic lapdock's touchpad is not multitouch.
(Is this the part where someone goes "Who uses the touchpad?" ?)
I think the appropriate Slashdot meme is "In South Korea, only old people use the touchpad."
I have an Otterbox on my Droid 4 and after some minor modification, my phone fits like a glove in the lapdock at the back without having to take the case off.
(I actually have the Atrix lapdock but they are essentially identical. Actually, I think the Atrix dock is about $20-$30 cheaper, at least where I am; I got it brand new from bensoutlet.com for $60 shipped.)
First, I used a razor to trim off the annoying silicon flap from the Otterbox that covers the USB and HDMI ports.
I removed the cover for the docking interface and slightly bored out the two holes for the USB and HDMI male ends before reversing them so that the phone will mount properly. In order to make them reach out far enough to dock the phone on with the case still on it, I wedged a few slices of a white gum eraser that I cut to fit behind the cable ends so that they stick out about 3/4 of an inch; plenty of room now to slide the phone on while it is in the Otterbox and the newly extended jacks are super solid without any wiggle room at all. It actually feels sturdier than it did before when mounting it without a case on as I find that the bulk of the case helps to fill out the platform the phone docks on.
Now that the two male ends of the USB and HDMI connections stick out slightly further than they used to, I had to get creative in order for the flip-down docking pad to properly close. Took me 5 more minutes to Dremel out two small openings that would allow for the dock to shut, and now it works perfectly.
It's true that the touchpad isn't multitouch, but I use a Bluetooth mouse 99% of the time anyways so it doesn't really impact how much I love this thing. For $60, you can't go wrong!
I'll post some pictures of it shortly, I'm out now and don't have it handy. I'm pretty amazed at how easy it was to do, and it doesn't look like a hack-job at all.

Speaker horn (or any other passive speaker device)?

I've noticed that speaker horns are pretty common and cheap for ipads/iphones but I can't seem to find any for the N7. My N7 is already loud enough but the tone can really vary based on how I've got it propped up.
Has anyone seen them for sale or know of a generic alternative?
Not seen one but it should be pretty easy to make one? I know that the sound improves markedly when I use my hand as a kind of speaker horn to guide the sound to the front.
Let's wait for some industrious N7 user to 3d print one up. Seems like a great idea.
Especially if it transforms the stereo speakers to work in landscape mode properly.

Exactly. And seeing the popularity of the N7, I'm surprised no one has jumped on this yet when they're ubiquitous for Apple products.

Something like this? It's okay, but the idea of the horn is portability. There are some horns that are actual stands but others are merely clip on devices.

I made one for my old S2 on my CNC Router. I could easily make one for the N7.

That actually looks great, but I'm thinking something smaller and portable. For example, this was on Shark Tank last week and got me thinking about the whole thing: thesoundbender.com . I've seen other "horns" that literally look like gramophones sticking out of the side, and there are a ton on ebay, so I'm surprised that even after the market has had several months to port things over to this tablet that nothing has come about.
Try looking on kickstarter, you're guaranteed to find a ridiculous amount of those and stupid iPhone cases and stands that all do the same thing.

Is there a way to keep this phone dry?

I work outside and here it rains a lot. Its tempting to buy Sony Z1 or Samsung S4 Active. But damn, its boring phones!!! So is there a way to keep LG G2 dry?
The best would be a case, but if not, what do you recommend?

Thanks. I did before posting but didn't find anything useful. Still, have ordered it now, seems like a beast of a phone.
I think bachera was referring to something like this:
http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/thi...pany-will-8216waterproof-your-smartphone/9792
Article is a bit old so not sure if the company is still in business & doing this or if there are others doing it as well. Sounds really good, but until I hear of people repeatedly getting great results, I am a little hesitant. Especially since you have to send the phone away for a few days. I think I'd prefer to go for a good case.
More than a few days when I send it from here. Nah a good case would be nice.
The Active is a bit scary to me since ATT will only replace it once for water damage and from what I read its a temporary promotion.
If water resistance is a priority you might want to wait and see if one of waterproof skins that wrap your phone instead of a case do become available for LG G2.
However, your ports wont be usable and low or no sound i presume?

Just a heads up to anyone interested in NeverWet who hasn't used it. In their video they show the guy waterproofing an iPhone... But, if you actually buy it ($20 @ Home Depot/elsewhere) it says (on the packaging) NOT to spray it on electronic devices (which totally contradicts their promotional video). I bought some just for the hell of it and it works (for the most part) but it does leave a nasty residue and tends to flake off as time progresses. Just an FYI.

MOTO MOD FRIENDLY cases / bumpers

So like title said, post links / names of cases you can find online, for now there is only two options avaiable:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/verizon-two-tone-bumper-case-for-moto-z-play-droid/
https://www.incipio.com/cases/smart...cases/moto-z-play-droid-co-molded-bumper.html
The second one is not mod friendly. I've it and it doesn't fit car dock or back style mods.

I'll vouch for the Verizon bumper case. So far all the mods I have fit with this on. I know its not a full case, but it protects the siding and gives you the ability to hot swap mods all day
I have the famous YouTube review video showing how terrible the Incipio bumper is. It doesn't even work with their own battery pack. Just poor engineering and design.
Is there any more options beside this two? Because verizon is not available to Europe?

I backed the Edge Shield Bumper, at Indiegogo. But it will take some more time to deliver because Lenovo/Motorola asked for a legal agreement, this month. So I have to wait to see it's quality.

NOTE: did not order because seller said it does not work with mods
Definitely want to know if it's mod friendly
Verizon one just broke on me. Lasted about 5 months. I want another one because it is the only one that works. Any idea where I can buy? I would love the edge shield when it comes.
Just received a Sparin TPU case for the MZP from Amazon today. The best part is that it fits OVER the style shell and all. Yeah, it's a tight squeeze and the top mic hole is a little bit off and it is a bit of a pain to remove, but it works. Don't know how long his case will hold up without cracking or yellowing, but so far I'm impressed. Buttons are able to be clicked and power cord inserted. Got a 2 pack for less than $10 shipped.
Oh, and no hole for the pins either.

Anyone try Phone Grips on Note 8? Opinions? Suggestions?

Anyone try one on a Note 8? I never actually used one on my own phone. Was testing out on my brother phone, not note 8. Seemed pretty handy and useful. I don't wanna waste $10-20 on one, if it's not good with Note. So trying to get opinions from people who used on Note 8.

one of them looks like a door knob. I do get the value of functionality of these things but god does it make the phone look prehistoric/abominable .
I have an ultra thin phone ring with magnetic capabilities so that I can mount it in the car. 3mm thick. Works great. Stuck it onto a dbrand skin rather than an open back. I can not only wireless charge with it but also fit it in a VR headset.
Thought of using something like this before but decided not too when i realized it would be hard to write on my phone with the spen while placed on top of a table. The phone would just be wobbly since it wont be flat on the table
This 1 might be just right. Got funded 4Xs over goal.
