Is it possible to change the default camera in OOS? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I am loving the new "hacked" Google Camera that supports HDR. Both my wife and I are getting far better results from our OP3Ts. However, frustratingly it seems to be impossible to change the default camera in OxygenOS so that we can access it from the "double-tap power" shortcut. The default camera setting has no effect, and disabling the stock camera completely merely causes the shortcut to simply not work at all. By all accounts, OnePlus seems to have tied this functionality to the stock app.
Anyone know of a way to fix this?

Not yet. I have the same problem.

You can change the default camera, but it only works when phone is unlocked. So if you have lockscreen with password/fingerprint, no luck, only OOS camera opens then. But when unlocked, then Google camera (if changed to default) will open with double press powerbutton -shortcut. I think it's tied with the OOS lockscreen.

I've got this same issue. When you change defaults to a 3rd party app (I was using the Pixel ZSL HDR+ port for the 3T) the FIRST time you double press power it luanches the Pixel camera. Then after that it reverts back to the Oneplus camera. I submitted a bug but who knows if that really gets looked at. I also have a friend with a 3T who had the same problem. It happens to me on stock AND on all the open betas

You can't. In Lineage there are some patches to snapdragon camera to call it oneplus camera because oneplus spaguetti code

[MOD]Camera NX V7.4, Google Camera with Pixel features for Nexus2015

Hello N6P users, I succeed in getting the ZSL HDR+ works on Nexus 5X, as Nexus 6P has the same camera hardware and better SoC, I'd like to ask someone test my mod, to see if the function works.
What's ZSL HDR+?
ZSL = zero shooting lag, means you won't get camera freeze after taking a HDR+ auto shoot. it is build-in the Google Camera 4.2 and only works on Pixel phones, now I force the app using Pixel configuration, it should perform the same ZSL HDR+ shooting on Nexus 6P.
Details about the ZSL HDR+.
ZSL-enhanced For 8.0+ only, ZSL HDR+ For 7.1.1+ only, Android 7.0 users please use NoZSL version.
APK was signed by ZipSign using my own signature, it won't replace your default camera app, it will install as a normal app, with a different camera icon.
Last Update
03/24/2018 V7.4
Base on Google Camera 5.2
1. Bring back HDR+ on Nexus 5X/6P.
2. Add Lens Blur mode.
3. EIS should be back to normal on Pixel 1, as EIS will be disabled with 4K quality with official version.
4. Active Google photos combination to view results again on enhanced version.
Details and download link for V7.4
01/02/2018 V7.3.1
Bug fix version
1. Fix abort HDR+ process FC problem.
2. Fix viewfinder flickering issue.
3. Add ZSL version for Android 7.1+, the previous one should be ZSL-enhanced version.
Bugs:
1. smart-burst always mark the first photo (ZSL-enhanced version).
2. Autofocus won't work after manually focus, need lock then unlock the AF/AE lock.
12/31/2017 V7.3
Current the new version is only for Android 8.0+, will release the updated version for Android 7.0.
1. Add the most wanted feature, Portrait mode (use Pixel 2's front lens software method, it needs a human face shows up to work.).
2. Remove silence feedback service, crash report service, and the broken Help menu, for faster app launch.
3. Remove Google photos combination, motion photo still works but you need to view it through Google photos manually.
I have named it wrong and this one should be the ZSL-enhanced version, sorry for the wrong package errors on Android 7.1.2
Details and download link for V7.3.1
11/06/2017 V7.2.0
This is bug fix version, not only for Pixel 2016, everyone who is using enhanced version should grab this update.
1. Fix crash issue on Pixel 2016.
2. Fix provider author name mistake leads to a thumbnail generation issue.
3. Motion pictures should be saved with a file name "MVIMG-####-##" right now, it became "IMG-####-##" in V7.1 version, which was wrong, this might mess the G photos when index media files.
Enhanced version users should get the experimental2017 library now.
Sorry, after some more test it seems experimental2017 is not necessary, just install the new version it will be ok.
About the Lens photo editor, it will be available after the picture upload to Google cloud.
10/19/2017 V7.1.0
1. Based on the last Google Camera 5.1.014, add Pixel 2016 phones support (need test).
2. Video 60FPS mode with EIS FC bug Fixed.
3. Motion photos for Pixel 2016 phones.
4. Micro video (Motion photos) EIS use gyro sensor enabled for Pixel (it was only activated on Pixel XL), need feedback.
5. Update icon support adapted icon and regular icon.
6. Disable Motion photos and G-photo integration for Android 7.1.
-- Now there is a new ZSL-enhanced version for Motion photos, G-photos combine, diet smart-burst on Android 8.x.
-- NOZSL and ZSL version will perform the old way while added new face retouching.
-- Bugs: after shooting photos, review it and you will see a black screen, need to wait for HDR+ process, I don't know it is normal or just hardware limited.

Uuhhh, big difference between 7.0 and 7.1
Argh already using v3.1 but can't test v4 cos I'm under 7.0 ...
Works great. The zero lag is true for sure. Not a big camera user but it seems to do what is advertised.
I'm on the developers preview

I am using it too. Awesome stuff. Thank you. Using it on 7.1.1.

Get black screen only on nitrogen rom. But have custom kernel installed
Works great on 7.1.1 even with ElementalX 3.08!! There is some lag when its moving around, the regular camera doesnt have this, but its probably what makes the ZSL possible! There is still some lag with HDR+ on, but none with HDR Auto
btw this is working mint dude. good job. plan to keep it updated? id def choose this over the stock dp'7.1 camera

He said loud and clear this is for dev preview 7.1.1, there is an older version for 7.0, and nitrogen falls in neither of those, because its 7.1.0 !!!
And @op great job, this is fantastic. Now if only 1080p 60fps worked, it would be a dream

Can you try using ex kernel to see if it works? I think its the kernel thing, when we have the 7.1 kernel source we might get it work on 7.0.

Did the lag happen when using the stock camera?
Good to see custom 7.0 kernel on 7.1.1 did not break the camera, I would like to see some one on 7.0 using ex 3.08 kernel can get camera usable.

By lag I meant shutter lag with hdr+ on. With hdr auto, it works like a charm with zero shutter lag. This is all in the NZ Camera

Ah I see. I would like to ask if the zsl also works if you turn off the HDR+ ? As no zsl switch inside the app for N6P, only one for N5X and it is disabled by default...
I force it enable for N5X, but for N6P I dont know if it is enabled or not.
I suppose it is enabled as the bursts mode needs it.

Most Preferred & Used Camera App

I have tried almost all available Google Camera mods but none work perfectly like Camera NX or the default Google Camera.
The stock Moto Camera is not great either.
The HDRs on the GCam Mods never seem get it right.
Kindly advise.
Hopefully linking apks on drive is ok, but this is the one I use. HDR+ works well, and the auto feature activates appropriately (some versions would automatically enable HDR+ when needed). Only issue I've found is there's a fair bit of noise in some darker shots. Video seems to work fine but slow motion just records at normal rate.
If you want to quickly access GCAM searching for "double tap power button" in settings allows you to enable the feature. For some reason Moto hid the option so it doesn't appear unless you search.

Need help to find missing options in stock camera - Pie Ui

Hi i'm from india, recently updated from oreo to pie officially.
But after upgrade i missed some important features in camera like video recording in pro mode, and beautification (like 3 diamond icon in oreo) option.
In beautification mode, we find separate sub mode for females and males for perfect selfies but now in pie i didn't find this option.
Can any body show me where these settings hidden. how can i enable it.
Thanks
They removed recording video in pro mode. I don't know how's it even possible and who approved it but they completely destroyed camera with pie update. You can use 3rd party apps, but all working apps are paid. And these apps aren't cheap.
I've noticed a downward trend in photo modes and its options since S7edge days.

Make Gcam main camera app?

Hi all,
I apologize if this had been answered but, is there any way to make the Gcam port recognized as the main camera app?
The reason I ask is because I want to map it to the gesture shortcuts and it will only let me map the Mi camera.
Thanks
Hi, just try disabling the mi camera - your other camera should be recognized as stock then.
I've done the same with the mi fotos app (since I prefere google photos) - I disabled the app, now I can use google fotos from Mi camera.
Edit: it could result in unexpected behaviour (e.g. bootloop or whatever) so on your own risk ^^
I really don't want to do that but I would wait with google camera. The MI camera is pretty sick (at least on the MI9) and the gcam kinda sucks and is lacking tons of important features. Consider your options here ^^

Such as?
If go to settings > Manage Apps > Three dots in top corner > Default Apps
You can then set a default for Camera. When i click on my Camera option I can pick either Stock cam or Gcam. Can only pick by Icon though, I have a diff icon for Gcam
I havnt tried this for mapping purposes but hopefully works
Undecided which I prefer so far of the two cameras

Don't take it personally. The google camera mod has been amazing (for my previous Redmi devices) but it's really hard recommending it at this point.
It just keeps crashing on my device and I can't record @60fps. The MIUI camera really caught up
Back to the task at hand: you can set the google camera as your default camera but the shortcut will still open the MI camera (same analogy like the photo galleries). Try disabling the MI camera app (you can try it via adb - just check out the link I've posted!) but be careful! It can result in unexpected behaviour - such as bootlooping or constant crashing reports etc.
Good luck ^^ feel free to tell us how it went.

The stock camera is better overall. The one area where gcam does excel is night shot. Other than that, the contrast is overblown on gcam (dark colors look darker than they should, and the bright ones look brighter than they should, which results in exaggerated detail)
And for video, 4k60 is really good on the stock camera, and isn't available on gcam.

Can constant autofocus (CAF) be disabled in any way in the Mi A2?

Hi, I was planning to buy this phone, but looking at video samples I noticed the camera is contantly focusing in a very distracting way. I know others Xiaomi phones have the option to disable CAF, but since this one is not using MIUI but AndroidONE can someone confirm CAF can be disabled?
Thanks in advance.
In the stock app you can't disable it, but you can lock it by long pressing on the screen. But it will lock the exposure too, so doesn't effective in different lightning conditions.
Try a 3rd party app like 'cinema fv-5'. This one works pretty good, and has 4k with EIS.
Thanks
