[ROM][A2017G][B05 7.1.1.][stock] SLIM version - ZTE Axon 7 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Deve

HI !
For those who want their Axon7 G stock (rooted & unlocked) to be fully (almost) stripped of bloatware or other unwanted apps, I uploaded my SLIM ROM (ad-free + SuperSU). Nothing fancy, just cleaned and ready to use.
It’s fully functional and tested for some time now. Smooth, no bugs.
From this basic, almost clean version you can simply add from scratch your favorite browser, keyboard or other stuff without being messed up with unnecessary (double) applications. Some basic apps like the file manager, calender and alarm are replaced (see info) because standard in-builts are not that great
AdAway + SuperSu added.
I hope you’ll E N J O Y !!!

Excellent. Thank you for your contribution!

Can I update to this if I'm on 6.0.1 build GV1.0.0B10?

Can u use magisk? Dont like Supersu..

This is getting really close to my ideal rom, I like LOS but not prepared to lose daydream, camera and audio performance.
Is it possible to do a rom like the old google play edition phones, where you get all the stock features and keep zte camera app but get googles dialer, pixel launcher etc...?

If you're rooted unlocked you can. But to be sure update to B01 and B02 bootstack/stocksystem. If you prefer update to B05 bootstack/stocksystem and then flash this one. Follow guides : https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/stock-rom-a2017g-twrp-flashable-images-t3599069

I already worked with Magisk and everyone has it's preference.
If you like to convert it,replace SuperSu with Magisk in ROM, rewrite the updater-script and repack again. Flash and done !

Everything is possible but everyone has it's own preferences. An ideal ROM doesn't exist. That's why i made this one to build it further with your needs.

EASY METHOD ( instead of me uploading another version again ) :
For those who want to replace SuperSU with the latest Magiskv13.3 (stable) :
1. Download latest here (http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk) and put it on ext.SD
2. go into SuperSU app (#) and scroll down to 'Fully Unroot'
3. Tab it and tab YES when asking to replace boot.img
4. As soon as it starts to run and you get a first black screen : hold VOL+ and Power as to go into TWRP (so don't let it boot normaly, just go into TWRP !)
5. once in TWRP flash Magiskv13.3
6. Done !
I tested it by installing a module and no problem so far...

Yes you can delete system/app/whatever with es file explorer. I did the test.
Just give ES root permission.
You don't need disemmcpwp command or whatever to delete something in root of phone.
Edit : in my experience SuperSU is more reliable than Magisk as it comes to altering system stuff. Supersu does it flawless as Magisk in some way has difficulties with root explorers. That's my opinion

Thank you for removing this ZTE Apps and replacing with original Google Apps !!!

How about the battery life? Can anyone post prints?
Thanks

With Magisk there is a problem when deleting folders.
But editing and deleting single files is working fine.
Just a hint from my experiences.

Same for me, rename files works, delete not. 'Read-only file system' notification.
I "must" use Magisk because of Xposed. Maybe it would work with SuperSU, but i deleted some apps in the zip before, so i cleaned it myself before flashing.
What about adding some nice mods?
- Extended Power Menu (this version: click)
- Center Clock in Statusbar
- "conservative" war mod
(Thats what i added to your ROM)
I would like to help you, but i dont know how.

That's why i made this STOCK B05 clean ánd with the SuperSU. As you both acknowledge, with SuperSU there are no problems at all to modify, delete, ..or whatever in root's phone. Magisk doesn't it for a full 100% as SuperSU does. On the contrary when you want the benefits of Magisk which SuperSU does not quit offer, flash Magisk in a minute and you're done. So people can choose to their benefit
Adding mods like you propose are more then OK but this would mean it's not that STOCK anymore you know. I can add these mods but it will be another ROM. So in general, everyone has its own wishes but as said, i just uploaded this one as it is as far as i know the 'cleanest' one.

Hi, thanks for this Rom, but i'm not able to flash magisk. When uninstall supersu inside the supersu app, i cannot restore stock boot.img.

You're welcome
Normally when you follow my procedure here it should/would work. I've done it a couple of times to test. You'll have to vol+/power immediately after when it wants to reboot on a black screen, hold both buttons till ZTE logo pups-up and then release. Enther in TWRP and flash Magiskv13.3.
Should work

Does anyone actually have android pay working on MM?

Im running truepure Rom. Would love to have android pay working, but just cant get it going. Assuming will have to live without for a while...
I have it installed on the stock rooted MM (soak test) and my card is loaded. I have not had a chance to actually use it yet. There aren't many retailers that accept it yet. If I get a chance to use it I'll report back.

As I understand, Android pay pretty much only works works with stock ROM due to system system Partition Modifications made on custom Rom's. I understand some devices have had limited luck with Custom Roms but for the most part, Stock only. All that said, I just upgraded to MM 6.0 on Friday and then Rooted using the Beta System less Root method from the forum and Android Pay works like a charm, added cards no problem and works perfect at the retailers that accept it. Most recently, RiteAid in my area. This root is not a full root as I understand but the apps I use get permissions without an issue , Quick Boot is my must have and it works just fine. (Did notice ES File Explorer wont' allow full access to my device but Root Browser did. Adding XPOSED would still disable Android Pay since it modifies the partititons , I really wish that was not the case but I really love Android pay so for now, I might just have to do without it. I am sure you saw the Root Method but just in case, the link is below. Follow the instructions carefully and don't forgot to hit the Do Not Install button in TWRP (Your device does not appear to be rooted) every time you reboot from there . You'll know what I am talking about as soon as you get to that point.
Anyway, good luck!
Mike

EDIT: And I broke pay somehow... So I guess this is not a great guide...
I am having Android pay working on a slightly modded stock rooted MM.
- I did the OTA process (back to stock and side loaded the OTA)
- Installed and setup Android Pay (including cards)
- Installed TWRP 2.8.7.1 in fastboot (link)
- Rooted with Chainfire's systemless autopatcher (link)
- Renamed system\recovery-from-boot.p to .bak in TWRP
- Installed No increased ringtone in TWRP (link)
- Installed and setup AdAway
- Android Pay is still working, I tested it at the vending machine at work.
I have not tried to add the new Google dialer (link), someone in the thread say it doesn't break Android pay.

I have Android pay working here. stock MM and systemless root. I did try flashing the dialer zip and it did break Android pay. However I moved the required files into place using root explorer and set the correct permissions, and Android pay works no problem.
So it seems that flashing zips that modify the system partition in any way will break Android pay, but not if you modify it while in the OS itself. I've been using the cigital safteynet playground app to check each time I make a modification. Definitely make a backup of /system so you can always restore Android pay functionality if a mod breaks it.
Also using Xposed WILL break Android pay. I try not to miss it much, but honestly I've got my MXPE pretty much perfect for me, and what apps I use that require root are all working well with systemless root.

This prevent the stock recovery from overwriting TWRP
I actually have TWRP in read only mode, which allows stock to overwrite it, and the file ends in .p.
Will changing it to .bak allow me to remove the read-only status?

Well the flashable zip as the folder structure laid out inside it, so just use that to know where to move the files. Usually the permissions are rw-r-r in most folders, but just check other files in the directories to make sure what permissions to set. That's all I've done to get the dialer working at least. I imagine it works for other things as well.

I try step by step install, testing with Cigital after every step, it fail when I copy the Google Dialer folder to pri-app. How did you do?

I followed the same steps that bb did and am getting the same results you are. Android Pay was working just fine with systemless root and Adaway, but so far, DPI changes and the Google Dialer have both broken Android Pay for me.
I lost it manually installing the new emoji font pack and google keyboard. I manually copied the files over and fixed the permissions.

Android 4.4.3 - STOCK OS - DEBLOATED - 64bit

Android 4.4.3 - STOCK OS - DEBLOATED - 64bit
Hello everyone. Lets jump straight to the point. This here is a backup made with TWRP from the STOCK OS for the HTC Desire 510 64bit. The few plus sides are that is DEBLOATED and that it uses a kernel that has write protection removed. Just a side note: I am trying to make a flashable ZIP for this but I'm having issues. I always get boot loops. So for now this is your only option.
If you are familiar with TWRP and backups and all that stuff you can skip the next parts and download the ROM, If not, I advise you to read carefully the whole thread if you don't want to brick your device.

What is changed?
Not much is changed.
Bellow are the app replacments I made:
1. Sense Home ---> NOVA Launcher
2. Sense Messages ---> Google Messages (Material Design)
3. Sense Calculator ---> Xlythe Calculator (Material Design)
4. Sense Calendar ---> Google Calendar (Material Design)
5. Sense Clock ---> Google Clock (Material Design)
6. Sense File Manager ---> ES File Explorer
7. Sense Weather ---> AccuWeather
4. Sense Keyboard ---> Google Keyboard
I removed a lot of HTCs and Google’s useless apps and other things, that are taking up space and resources.
From Google apps you have left:
1. Google Play Store
2. Google Chrome
3. Google Play Games
4. Google Drive
4. YouTube
5. All other background apps and services that are required for the Google apps to function properly.
From HTC apps you have left:
1. Camera app
2. FM Radio
3. Gallery (I couldn't find a decent replacement)
4. Music
5. Photo Editor
6. LockScreen
I have removed the HTC Browser, Zoe, E-mail and other useless stuff from HTC.
I have included:
1. Clean Master Lite - It's much faster than the full blown app and gets the job done. Lots of people hate it but it works like a charm on this device.
2. DiskInfo - With this little app you can see all of the partitions on your device. Regardless if you are S-ON or S-OFF.
3. Glim Lite - A set of beautiful Material design icons for NOVA launcher.
I didn't include an E-mail app because the Play Store is full of them and I couldn't choose. This choice is up to you.
How to install it?
First of all you need an unlocked bootloader with a TWRP - custom recovery installed on your device.
To unlock your bootloader go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/development/bootloader-unlock-htc-desire-510-t2910233. Follow that tutorial to get your bootloader unlocked. After a successful unlocking you'll need a custom recovery.
Download this file: https://dl.twrp.me/a11ul/twrp-3.0.2-0-a11ul.img. This is the latest TWRP recovery for our device. Now we need to flash this file on the device:
Before starting put the contents of the ZIP file on to your SD card. And make sure that it has this folder structure:
Code:
--SD CARD
--TWRP
--BACKUPS
--Your device serial number (The name of this folder should be the serial number of your device otherwise TWRP won't see the backups in this folder)
--2016-04-17--13-49-21_KTU84L_release-keys (Don't change this, I don't know what will happen if you do)
1. Power off your device by pulling the battery out and putting it in again.
2. Press the Volume Down and Power Buttons until you see the HBOOT screen.
3. Press the Power button again to enter Fastboot mode.
4. Connect your phone with your PC using an USB cable.
5. Now open your terminal (I'm using Ubuntu but it's same in Windows as well) and type:
Code:
fastboot devices
This will show you an output like this:
Code:
--your devices serial number-- fastboot
If it doesn't show you an output like that then you probably didn't install the drivers correctly or you have a faulty USB cable.
If your output is the same as above than we can move on.
This command will flash the TWRP recovery on your device:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /full/path/to/the/recovery.img
Example:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /home/denny/Downloads/twrp-3.0.2-0-a11ul.img
Now you have TWRP on your device.
To boot TWRP press the Power button to go back to the HBOOT screen and navigate to the RECOVERY option with the volume keys and again press the Power button. After a few seconds you'll see your new recovery.
Restoring the backup
First we need to wipe any potential data that will cause conflicts with the new system.
1. Tap on "Wipe"
2. Tap on "Advanced Wipe"
3. Select all but leave the Micro SDCard option unchecked.
4. Swipe the slider to wipe the data.
After that is complete press on the house button on the lower end of the screen.
Now we are going to restore the backup:
1. Tap on the "Restore" button.
2. At the lower left corner tap on "Select Storage" button.
3. Choose "Micro SDCard" option and press OK.
4. Now you should see the backup folder. Open it.
5. Select "Boot" and "System" and swipe to start the restoring process.
6. Press "Reboot System" after the restoring has finished.
After you setup you system apply the Glim Lite icon pack to NOVA launcher.
Bellow are some screenshots of the new look.
Big thanks to:
@wolfaas12345 - for providing a tutorial on how to unlock your bootloader.
@rbheromax - for making a kernel with write protection removed.
@patrik.KT - for developing the TWRP recovery for our device.

BETA testers for OTA updates
I have managed to enable a function for our ROM to receive OTA updates directly from me. This will make updates more easy to be deployed and cuts down the time for me to upload the whole ROM and for you to download it and flash it. Be advised that this is for testing purposes only (for now). I don't know how much stable the ROM will be after receiving an update.
By flashing the ZIP file below you acknowledge that you are wiling to become a BETA tester and that you do this at your own risk.
Step 1.
You need to download the ZIP file below this post and flash it like any normal flashable ZIP.
The ZIP file contains a new app for OTA Updates, a new lib file for proper functioning of the app and an edited build.prop file. The build.prop file contains information to tell the app where to check if new updates are available, so please do not edit it yourself.
The app will say that there are no updates. That is not a bug, error or a glitch. Currently there are no updates. When an update is deployed the app will send you a notification.
Step 2.
Send an email to [email protected] to confirm that you have downloaded and flashed the ZIP file and that you are willing to be a BETA tester. Please use a valid email because I will be contacting you to share feedback about the new updates and discuss any issues you might have.

Thanks a lot for the sharing!
I will definitely test it
BTW you say that you have problem - bootloop with the .zip, did you tried to flash boot.img manually after flashing of the .zip?
Also instead of gallery I use simply photos by google
Or there is also lightweight Gallery app by google (com.android.gallery3d). You will probably find it in GAPPS

Thanks for those tips. I will definitely take a look at the lightweight gallery.
I tried flashing the boot.img manually but nothing. I've got it to boot up just once but there was no wi-fi. That leads me to belive that the permissions in the updater-script are not set up properly but also could be something else. If you have experience with updater-script do you think that you could help me out?
Unfortunately I don't have any bigger experiences with updater-script
Few times I edited it, but never so big one like installing ROM...
Anyway can you sand me the zip? I will try to look, but I don't promise anything
hi,
thanks so much for this Debloate.:good:
Well done developer! Phone itself is 10x faster without the bloatware apps on! Thank you so much developer!
Thanks a lot for your sharing. I finally have a nice going device. Its the best solution currently for this phone.

would be nice to have HTC Sense UI and email app left and htc foto editor and gallery removed and replaced by Google Photos, I don't understand why stick to ES File Explorer which does have in app ads rather have native file explorer, also I don't understand why I need that clean tool when android is managing ram just fine in this version.
Sorry if that sound rude, language barrier
Keep up with good work.

No problem, any feedback is more than welcome. The Sense UI will remain, the theming I'm gonna make will only be on the icons and maybe the QuickSettings layout of the buttons, nothing too big to ruin the Sense feel. I might get back the e-mail app if I can't find a descent replacement for it. In the next update the HTC Gallery, alongside the Photo Editor will be replaced by Google Photos. Also the ES File Explorer, I'm gonna replace it with something that is adds free, simple to use but versatile. The Clean tool is not much for RAM as it is for Junk removal. Here is an example: Yesterday I was listening to some music on YouTube for about two hours. After that, I run the Junk Removal tool....It removed somewhere around 900Mb of useless data. You see how you can free up some space with it. I plan to keep it, but If I get negative feedback about it I will remove it.
Again thank you for your feedback.
E.g. Total Commander is simple and nice explorer without adds
BTW now when you have root, you can install "adblocker" app

Thank you for your opinion. The main reason that I deodexed the ROM is to save up on the size of the actual download. I'm currently running the deodexed version on my phone and it works just fine. But still it will remain in BETA version unless I get positiv feedback about it.

There are some system apps I won't ever use, so it would make sense to not even install them.
Is it possible to debloat a MIUI ROM (for example the official chinese dev ROM) by editing the content of the zip file prior flashing?
Is there a "safe list" with apps that can be removed without causing instabilities?

Just install xiaomi.eu rom. Basically it's a debloated chinese rom with european languages added.
Can anyone tell me how can i run Google Apps in my mi5 chaina dev Android 7 based rom. I can't flash gapps. In twrp it's asking device decrypt password. Any other way to flash gapps or some other way?

I'm attaching my personal miui debloater, it is recovery flashable. look the updater-script file for details of what i normally remove, it is pretty self-explanatory I'll maybe improve/increase list of removed apps later on, but it is already a good start..
if you need gapps, be sure to comment out rows 23-24 and most of the rows from 55 up before flashing.
for best effect, flash this upon clean flash, immediately after flashing miui rom zip
cheers

I found your script very interesting, I wanted to do something like that... the commented lines are apps that become a problem if you uninstall them? For example /system/app/VoicePrintService, /system/data-app/Music lines are disabled.
In any case thanks for the file it is a good start.
at a certain point i got the phone not booting anymore because of too aggressive debloat, so yes i restored some apps i thought could be related to get rid of bootloop and didn't have time to determine exactly which one was the culprit..
but music no, you can remove it if you want, but i liked it so i preferred to keep it

Thanks, any update version of yours. Personally, I do also remove several things and some even make some function not working (e.g. scrolling screen capture not working anymore). Not sure which one make it fail, though. Too many aggressive debloat.

---
#### DESCRIPTION
- This module installs a regular open_gapps-* zip (except aroma variant) systemlessly. When it's disabled, Google Play Services are automatically disabled on the next boot as well. This prevents continuous, disturbing gms crashes.
---
#### PRE-REQUISITES
- Any open_gapps-* zip, except aroma variant
- Custom recovery
- Magisk
---
#### SETUP STEPS
0. Make sure an open_gapps-* zip (except aroma variant) exists somewhere in /sdcard or /external_sd directories or subdirectories (max directory depth must be 3 -- i.e., /sdcard/Download/OpenGApps).
1. Optional -- run `touch /data/r` to
reinstall open_gapps-* zip (or `touch
/data/u` to uninstall the module).
2. Optional -- set up a gapps-config.txt file (removal lists work as pseudo-removal lists -- systemless debloat).
3. Install from custom recovery (i.e., TWRP).

Hey! thanks for all your Magisk mods, I noticed you posted a few in the Collection of Magisk Mods v2 thread.
I'm curious about this one though. What is it for? No offense, I just don't understand why you'd need or want Beans core Gapps to be systemless.
Especially since A) they usually always occupy that space on /system, 2) the /system partition has plenty of room for the mini Gapps (and often much larger packages) after clean installing a ROM, and thirdly I thought the whole point of Magisk and systemlessness was to have an intact and "normal" /system.
Being able to hide root is one of the coolest things about Magisk, closely followed by installing modules "systemlessly", where they don't actually take up space on your system partition but act like they do.
In essence, I think my point is that I assumed Magisk systemlessness is designed for quite the opposite purpose of this mod. Why have empty room on your system partition (where the Gapps usually reside) AND have the ability to use systemless mods -- which inherently don't utilize the system partition, by design?
tl;dr:
If you're using Magisk for "systemlessness", why leave unused space on the system partition? If the Gapps are stored on /data, you have less usable space on the device.
Again, I mean no offense. The more I think about it the less sense it makes to me. Please explain why you made this and what its advantages are! I would love to understand.

First of, thanks for the questioning. I thought somebody would feel confused at some point... and here we go. I just added my reasoning to the main post. You'll love it at best and like it at worst. Guaranteed.
Sorry for OT but, how do you make backup for magisk.img? ?

The file is located in /data. Use a file manager with root access to copy it to a desired location for future use. I personally use TWRP's built in file manager.
No offense. Some people prefer the Nova launcher instead of the Pixel launcher, so I hope you don't add the pixel launcher
Dope concept and module. Will I be able to manually update Gapps from the Nightly updates, or do I have to wait for you to push from your end?

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll add Nova Launcher in the next version. Now I remember it is actually better than Pixel Launcher anyway.

You either wait or just integrate app updates into system, systemlessly using Titanium Backup. That's the magic of this. However, to be honest, I'm more into it for the other modifications, since apps are updated from Pay Store anyway. Although they aren't integrated into Magisk automatically, you don't really need to worry about that too much.
Two questions:
First, can I just install this module instead of flashing gapps?
Second, can I add app I want systemized to the zip and install it?

One answer for both: yes.
Note: some apps may not work as system apps, unless you include libraries with them (extra space -- wasteful)
This includes some user apps. I'm open for suggestions.
Edit: I'm working on a script to batch install user apps added to the zip.
Edit 2: @Breno Spangler, the script is ready! Download
Just add your apps to the /data/app folder, remove the PLACEHOLDER file, enjoy.
Can i update the module just by installing new version or do i need to uninstall the old version first? I'm asking because i know that name changes can make software go crazy.

Yes, you're right about name changes. This name won't change anytime soon without notice. I did change it at first without notice though.
Anyway, only flash without removing the previous version if the names match.

I got nova launcher as default launcher on my rom. Won't it conflict if I install this module? Doesn't it better if you remove it and we can use any launcher we want?

Yes it may conflict. You can open the zip, go to system/priv-app directory, and delete NovaLauncher folder.
I'll evaluate your suggestion for the next version.
Edit: @khnoizer, module updated. Check the new info in the main post.

Nice
stupid question: If flash a ROM that already has GAPPS bundled, that would cause a conflict with this module? Does one or the other win or do things just break.

How do I install the A version of meizu as a G version?

Hi,
how do I install the (7.2) A version of meizu as a G version?
among us there are "plenty of" guys who have not yet known how to do that, I will explain how it should be so that you have fun with your meizu phone as an G version.
firstly you have to root your meizu with A version from the settings, you know how to do it, right?
at the bottom of the root click on the ok -enter your pw- and your phone will be restart.
after you've root it your meizu phone you must install the fx file explorer and start it up (#system root => click on 3dut => click on mount read-write = now you can delete things) and than delete all the chinese apk's stuff etc from your phone.
very important: do not delete the AppCenter folder but the apk itself!!
you can remove any other chinese folders + apk's, no problem at all.
G version:
install the AppCenterInt (take it from my uploaded zip folder incl. other things.. almost everythings you needs in it) and run it, you gonna see there the google apps click on it and than install the google apps etc.

For other language than english install this apk: https://morelocale-2.en.uptodown.com/android
The rest you know how to do it.. right?
good luck
